Introduction The educational process in modern societies requires personal initiatives, both in the educational and the work context, and thus it is important for people to develop and regulate their cognitive competences throughout learning processes. Aim To describe the metacognitive skills of students taking the Specialisation in Family Medicine Course, in a centre in the state of Sonora. Subjects and methods A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the development of metacognitive skills in all the students enrolled in the Specialisation in Family Medicine Course, at a centre in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora. The metacognitive skills inventory was applied after previously validating it and determining its reliability by means of a pilot test. Descriptive statistics, chi squared and Kruskall-Wallis were applied. Results Of the 36 students (63.9% females), with a mean age of 28.7 ± 1.9 years, 28 (78.8%) presented a high level of development in metacognitive skills, with a mean of 200.79, 203.13, 200.75 and 201.75 points for the first, second and third years and overall, respectively (p = 0.834; Kruskall-Wallis). Conclusions No differences are observed in the overall development of their metacognitive skills or in their subscales, among students in the three academic years at the residence. In the future, instruments that evaluate the student’s degree of social desirability of will have to be considered with the aim of controlling this bias.

Introducción El proceso educativo en las sociedades modernas necesita iniciativas personales, tanto en el contexto educativo como en el laboral, por lo que es importante que la persona desarrolle y regule sus competencias cognitivas durante los procesos de aprendizaje. Objetivo Describir las habilidades metacognitivas en alumnos del Curso de Especialización en Medicina Familiar, en una sede del estado de Sonora. Sujetos y métodos Se realizó un estudio transversal para evaluar el desarrollo de las habilidades metacognitivas en el total del censo de los alumnos adscritos al Curso de Especialización en Medicina Familiar, de una sede en Ciudad Obregón, Sonora. Se aplicó el inventario de habilidades metacognitivas, el cual se validó y se determinó su fiabilidad a través de una prueba piloto. Se aplicó estadística descriptiva, chi al cuadrado y Kruskall-Wallis. Resultados De los 36 alumnos (63,9% de sexo femenino), con una edad media de 28,7 ± 1,9 años, 28 (78,8%) presentaron un desarrollo alto de habilidades metacognitivas, con una media de 200,79, 203,13, 200,75 y 201,75 puntos para el primer, segundo, tercer año y global, respectivamente (p = 0,834; Kruskall-Wallis). Conclusiones No se observaron diferencias en el desarrollo global de las habilidades metacognitivas, ni en sus subescalas, entre los tres años académicos del alumnado de la residencia. En el futuro, se tendrán que considerar instrumentos que evalúen el grado de deseabilidad social del alumno con el fin de controlar dicho sesgo.

The analytical elements to study social movements have fallen short in understanding the movements that have erupted in the second decade of the century. There have been some theories that confirm that this issue continues to appear open to debate. The main analytical lines from which approaches have been tried to movements of indignant are reviewed. We propose a conceptual set to investigate the movements from below. We call the attention of the Zapatista movement as founding the new dynamic in which we find the search demoeleuthería and highlight its performance around the tragedy of Ayotzinapa. We propose as a clue to try to discern the configuration of emancipatory movements.

Los elementos analíticos para estudiar los movimientos sociales se han quedado cortos para comprender los movimientos que han irrumpido en la segunda década del siglo XXI. Han ido apareciendo algunas teorizaciones que confirman que esta temática prosigue abierta al debate. Las principales tendencias desde las cuales se han ensayado acercamientos a los movimientos de indignados son revisadas. Proponemos un conjunto conceptual para indagar los movimientos de los de abajo. Llamamos la atención del zapatismo como movimiento fundante de la nueva dinámica en el que encontramos la búsqueda de la demoeleuthería, y destacamos su actuación en torno a la tragedia de Ayotzinapa. Planteamos como pista tratar de atisbar la configuración de movimientos emancipatorios.

This article offers a summarized vision of the main influenza epidemics. It tracks the appearance and origin of the 2009 influenza, which was finally denominated as A (H1N1). It presents the main guidelines and steps followed by the World Health Organization facing this new virus. It also explores how this type of influenza was detected in Mexico, and tracks the changes in the strategy followed by Mexican health authorities to face this sudden disease, unknown at first. It inquires if the increase in cases obeys to an anticipated new outbreak or to the continuance of this epidemic. It poses the possible risks that must be faced in a second outbreak, which is predicted to intensify over the Winter season. Finally, it synthesizes the main debates, which have risen around this new type of influenza.

Este artículo ofrece una visión compendiada de las principales epidemias de influenza. Da un seguimiento a la aparición y origen de la influenza en 2009, que finalmente fue denominada A (H1N1). Presenta los pasos y principales lineamientos que ante este nuevo virus dio la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Explora cómo se fue detectando esta influenza en México. Hace un seguimiento de los cambios en la estrategia que siguieron las autoridades sanitarias en México para encarar este súbito, y al principio desconocido, mal. Inquiere si un nuevo incremento de casos se debe a un anticipado rebrote o a la continuación de la epidemia. Plantea los posibles riesgos que se deberán afrontar en una segunda oleada que se vaticina se agudizará en la temporada invernal. Finalmente sintetiza las principales discusiones que han surgido sobre esta nueva influenza.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this work was to measure family physicians' clinical aptitude for the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic syndrome in a representative sample from six Family Medicine Units (UMF) at the Mexican Institute for Social Security (IMSS), in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study. A validated and structured instrument was used, with a confidence coefficient (Kuder-Richardson) of 0.95, that was applied to a representative sample of 90 family physicians throughout six UMFs in Guadalajara, between 2003 and 2004. Mann-Whitney's U and Kruskal-Wallis' tests were used to compare two or more groups, and the Perez-Viniegra Test was used to define aptitude development levels. RESULTS: No statistically significant differences were found in aptitude development between the six family medicine units groups and other comparative groups. CONCLUSIONS: The generally low level of clinical aptitude, and its indicators, reflects limitations on the part of family physicians at the IMSS in Jalisco to identify and manage metabolic syndrome.

OBJETIVO: El propósito de este estudio fue medir la aptitud clínica de los médicos familiares de una muestra representativa de seis Unidades de Medicina Familiar (UMF) del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), en Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, en el diagnóstico y tratamiento del síndrome metabólico. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Es un estudio observacional, prospectivo y comparativo. Se diseñó y validó un instrumento estructurado con un coeficiente de confianza (Kuder-Richardson) de 0.95, aplicado a una muestra representativa de 90 médicos familiares de seis UMF en Guadalajara, entre 2003 y 2004. Se utilizaron los tests de Mann-Whitney U y Kruskal-Wallis para comparar dos o más grupos, y el test de Pérez-Viniegra se utilizó para definir los niveles de desarrollo de aptitud. RESULTADOS: No se observaron diferencias significativas en el desarrollo de aptitud entre las seis UMF. CONCLUSIONES: El bajo nivel general de aptitud clínica refleja las limitaciones para identificar y manejar el síndrome metabólico por parte de los médicos familiares.
