RESUMO: Propomos neste artigo um análise das representações policiais sobre suas tarefas de trabalho. Como resultado do trabalho de campo na Escola de Cadetes "Comisario Geral Juan A. Pirker" da Polícia Federal Argentina- descobrimos que, recorrente e articuladamente entre nossos interlocutores, surgen tres dimensões do trabalho policial: sacrificio, vocação e estado policial. Estes hitos de representação nos permitem uma reflexão sobre o trabalho policial. Por um lado, estamos interessados em dar conta das continuidades e rupturas das representações do trabalho em relação con outras profissões. Por outro, das estratégias de valorização do quehacer policial - operações morais- que permite aos policías criar hierarquias e fazer do trabalho policial un no-trabalho.

ABSTRACT: We propose in this article an analysis of the police representations on their work tasks. As a result of an ethnographic work - at the Cadet School of the Argentine Federal Police - we discovered that three dimensions of police work always come up: sacrifice, vocation and Police state. These milestones of self-representation allow us to reflect on police work through two different, but related, paths. On the one hand, we are interested in accounting for the continuities and ruptures of representations of police work to other professions. On the other hand, we are interested in accounting for the valuation strategies of police work - moral operations - that allow police officers to rank their tasks and make police work a non-work.

RESUMEN: Proponemos en este artículo un análisis de las representaciones policiales sobre sus quehaceres laborales. Como resultado de un trabajo etnográfico -en la Escuela de Cadetes “Comisario General Juan A. Pirker” de la Policía Federal Argentina- descubrimos que, recurrente y articuladamente entre nuestros interlocutores, surgen tres dimensiones del trabajo policial: el sacrificio, la vocación y el estado policial. Estos hitos de la auto representación nos permiten una reflexión sobre el trabajo policial por dos caminos diferentes pero relacionados. Por un lado, nos interesa dar cuenta de las continuidades y rupturas de las representaciones del trabajo policial para con otras profesiones. Por otro, de las estrategias de valoración del quehacer policial -operaciones morales- que permiten a los policías jerarquizar sus tareas y hacer del trabajo policial un no-trabajo.

This work analyzes the meanings given to violent actions by the members of argentine football fans groups (hinchada) through the category of aguante. These are part of a "way of being" that both defines and distinguishes them, and constitutes a complex system of honour and prestige that valorates positively the courage, the bravery and the surrending in a physical confrontation. From a simplistic and stigmatizing analysis, like the one of the media and the common sense, these actors and their practices are conceived as "violent" because they execute and give a positive value to different actions that are beyond the "acceptable". However, and paradoxically, there are moral principles that define what is allowed and what is forgiven, the fair and the unfair in a violent act. Discovering and analyzing these limits allows us to study the constitution of a social space where these practices are accepted, and also to analyze the relationships with another actors that are beyond that space but are related with the members of the hinchada; that means they also "negociate" their moral code with the actors outside their boundaries.

Este trabajo analiza los significados que los integrantes de las hinchadas de fútbol argentinas dan a las acciones violentas, a través de la categoría de aguante. Estas son parte de una forma de ser que los define y los distingue, y constituye un complejo sistema de honor y prestigio que valora positivamente la valentía, el coraje, la bravura y el arrojo en un enfrentamiento físico. Desde una mirada simplista y estigmatizadora, como la de los medios de comunicación y el sentido común, estos actores y sus prácticas son concebidos simplemente como "violentos", ya que ejecutan y dan valor positivo a distintas acciones que están ubicadas fuera de los límites de lo aceptable. Sin embargo, y paradójicamente, existen definiciones morales nativas que delimitan lo permitido y lo prohibido, lo justo y lo injusto en un acontecimiento violento. Descubrir y analizar estos límites nos permite estudiar la constitución de un espacio social donde estas prácticas son aceptadas y, también, analizar las relaciones con actores que ubicados por fuera de ese espacio se vinculan con los integrantes de la hinchada y, por ende, "negocian" con su código moral.

This work intends to analyze one of the legitimation mechanisms that use the hooligans of a soccer gang to make acceptable their violent actions. Violent practice is part of a way of being that defines the members of this group and forms a complex system that grants prestige and honor to those who perform it. The honor of violent people is founded on the acceptance of distinctive practices; a basis that is built through different tools that confer legitimacy to practices that are socially stigmatized. We will analyze how certain particularities of space, neighborhood, are the logical handholds that hooligans build to recognize their actions validity. We seek to reveal the underlying logic of this construction: the rhetoric of establishing the action validity on the space morphology hides that practices and representations are validated by the sense of the social relationships.

Este trabajo propone analizar uno de los mecanismos de legitimación que utilizan los integrantes de una hinchada de fútbol para hacer aceptables sus acciones violentas. La práctica violenta es parte de una forma de ser que define a los miembros de este grupo y que conforma un complejo sistema que otorga prestigio y honor a los practicantes de acciones violentas. La honra de los violentos se sustenta en una base de aceptación de las prácticas distintivas; base que es construida a través de distintas herramientas que confieren legitimidad a prácticas que son socialmente estigmatizadas. Analizaremos cómo ciertas particularidades del espacio, del barrio, son los asideros lógicos, que construyen los adherentes de la hinchada para reconocer la validez de sus acciones. Pretendemos desnudar la lógica subyacente de esta construcción: la retórica de instaurar la validez de las acciones en la morfología del espacio encubre que son los sentidos de las relaciones sociales las que validan prácticas y representaciones.
