Abstract Objectives Melanoma is one of the leading causes of cancer death. Kinesin Family member 22 (KIF22) is essential for the invasion of melanoma cells, but the role and mechanism of KIF22 in the proliferation and glycolysis in melanoma remains unknown. Methods KIF22 expression in melanoma tissues and the relationship between KIF22 high expression and overall survival rate in patients with melanoma were analyzed using the Tnmplot database. KIF22 expression in melanoma cells was examined by western blot. Then, KIF22 was silenced and CCK-8 assay, EDU staining and flow cytometry analysis were adopted for assessing cell proliferation and apoptosis. In addition, the glycolysis metabolism of melanoma cells was reflected by detecting Extracellular Acidification Rates (ECAR) and Oxygen Consumption Rates (OCR). The expression of proteins related to apoptosis, glycolysis and EGFR/STAT3 signaling was tested by western blot. Studies often neglect the different trends between enantiomers in soil chiral contaminants. In the present study, paclobutrazol was chosen as the target analyte and the selective degradation patterns of this chiral pesticide were investigated in soils. After 14 days of culture, the degradation kinetics results demonstrated the degradation process of the two enantiomers conforms to first-order degradation kinetics equation, and the degradation rates were significantly different (paired t-test, P < 0.05). The degradation rate of (2S,3S)-paclobutrazol (S-paclobutrazol) was higher than that of (2R,3R)-paclobutrazol (R-paclobutrazol), with the concentration decrease of 42.6 and 28.7%, respectively. Meanwhile, the enantiomer fraction (EF) was 0.43 at final sampling point, and the half-life (t1/2) of S-paclobutrazol and R-paclobutrazol were 17.3 and 28.9 days, which demonstrated significant enantioselective degradation. Results from this study served to enhance our understanding about the enantioselective degradation behaviors of chiral pesticides, which provided some scientific basis for the potential risk assessment of chiral pesticides in the environment.

In this study, a novel deep eutectic solvent (DES) containing choline chloride and ethylene glycol was synthesized, and the magnetic polydopamine (PDA) was modified with this deep eutectic solvent to form Fe3O4@PDA-DES. Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer were used to characterize the proposed adsorbent. Then, this magnetic material was used as an adsorbent in the magnetic solid phase extraction process for the extraction of four sulfonylurea herbicides in water samples. The main parameters relevant to this method were investigated. Under the optimum conditions, the linearity was obtained by five points in the concentration range of 1.0-200 µg L-1 and with the correlation coefficients (r) ≥ 0.9927. The enrichment factors were in a range of 495 to 615 and the relative standard deviations were less than 4.3%. The limits of detection varied from 0.0092 to 0.0113 µg L-1. The recoveries of environmental water samples were 61.9 to 100.1%, and the recoveries of drinking water samples were 71.1-101.9%. All results highlighted the excellent potential of magnetic solid phase extraction coupled with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography strategy in selective separation and extraction of sulfonylurea herbicides in water samples.

A novel, rapid and efficient manual shaking and ultrasound-assisted surfactant-enhanced emulsification microextraction (M-UASEME) combined with gas chromatography-flame photometric detection (GC-FPD) was developed for the extraction and determination of eight organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) in tap water and honey samples. The main parameters that affected the extraction efficiency were investigated and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the relative standard deviation (RSD, n = 6) ranged from 2.4 to 9.3%. Limits of detection (LOD) were varied between 0.005 and 0.05 µg L-1. Good linearity was obtained in a range of 0.5-50.0 µg L-1 for all analytes with the correlation coefficients (r) > 0.9964. Finally, the developed method was successfully applied to determine the eight pesticide residues in real samples. The recoveries of the target analytes in samples were between 82.4 and 96.7%.

LaSrCo0.9Pd0.1O4 and LaSrCoO4 mixed oxides were prepared and characterized by XRD, FTIR, BET and XPS, then studied for the reduction of NO by CO. The results show that all samples display characteristic peaks of crystal structure A2BO4 and show the rather strong diffraction pattern for LaSrCo0.9Pd0.1O4 (reduced and oxidized) and weak signals of lanthanum oxide for LaSrCo0.9Pd0.1O4 (reduced). The noble metal Pd has a significant influence on the specific surface areas, pore volumes, binding energies and activities of the samples. For NO reduction by CO, catalytic activity shows complete conversion below 360 °C and the order of activity is LaSrCo0.9Pd0.1O4 (reduced and oxidized) > LaSrCo0.9Pd0.1O4 (reduced) > LaSrCoO4 (reduced). Kinetic analysis for NO reduction by CO indicates that the specific reaction rate is significantly affected by the synthesis procedure.

A series of MAl2O4:Eu2+,Sm3+ (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) phosphors was prepared by the combustion method, and the influence of these alkaline earth metals on the structure and luminescent performances for these phosphors was investigated. A relationship was established between their composition, crystallization capacity and luminescent properties. The results show that the CaAl2O4: Eu²+,Sm³+ and SrAl2O4:Eu²+,Sm³+ phosphors exhibit monoclinic crystal systems and that the BaAl2O4:Eu²+,Sm³+ phosphor exhibits a hexagonal structure. The alkaline earth metal has a positive effect on the crystallization process, the heat treatment procedure and the luminescent properties of the corresponding phosphors. According to the order Ca > Sr > Ba, the maximum emission wavelengths of the corresponding phosphors are found at 505 nm, 490 nm and 478 nm, and the relevant colours of emitted light are between blue and green, which indicates that there is a clear blue shift in the emission spectra, but their excitation spectra show almost no difference. The decay curve shows that the afterglow intensity and time are not only related to the activating processes and the hole transport, but also to the phase structure and the grain size, which is in the order Sr > Ca > Ba.
