Resumo:A Aprendizagem Baseada na Resolução de Problemas é uma metodologia de ensino, fundamentada no Ensino por Investigação, que pretende promover o desenvolvimento de diversas competências, que possibilitem o estímulo do raciocínio científico, a autonomia e o desenvolvimento de capacidades de questionamento e reflexão críticas. Neste contexto, o questionamento surge como uma ferramenta útil na construção de conhecimento e no desenvolvimento destas competências no aluno. Pela relevância que o manual escolar assume nas aulas de Ciências, importa que este contribua positivamente para a competenciação do aluno. Neste pressuposto, foram analisados os manuais mais adotados nos três anos do 3º ciclo do Ensino Básico, de acordo com a função e localização das questões, assim como o nível cognitivo das mesmas. Apesar de a maioria das questões ser de baixo nível cognitivo, verifica-se a existência de questões de nível elevado, potenciadoras de uma aprendizagem mais autónoma e autorreguladora.

Abstract:Problem Based Learning (PBL) is an Inquiry-Based Learning approach that aims to prompt the development of diverse competences that allow the stimulation of scientific reasoning, autonomy and the development of capacities like questioning and critical reflection. In this context, questioning is a useful tool in students’ knowledge construction and in the development of the mentioned competences. As textbooks are important in science classes, they must contribute relevantly to the learning process. Having this in mind, the textbooks most used in 7th, 8th and 9th grades were analyzed according to the function and location of questions, as well as their cognitive level. These textbooks present a different number of questions. Despite the fact that the majority of questions are of low cognitive level (encyclopedic), there are also a considerable number of questions of high cognitive level, which promote a more autonomous and self-regulated learning.

Tendo como base as temáticas de geologia do currículo da disciplina de Biologia e Geologia do 11º ano (amplitude de idades dos 15-17 anos), desenvolveu-se um estudo de investigação recorrendo-se à Aprendizagem Baseada na Resolução de Problemas (ABRP), utilizando-se a modelação como estratégia didática. Pretendendo-se investigar se a modelação potenciava aprendizagens significativas nos alunos, implementou-se um programa de intervenção recorrendo-se a modelos geológicos durante cinco semanas (24 horas letivas). A investigação realizada, apoiada nos moldes de uma Investigação e Desenvolvimento (I&D), recorreu à triangulação metodológica suportada em várias técnicas e diversos instrumentos de recolha de dados. A modelação permitiu envolver os alunos numa crescente formulação de explicações e de hipóteses e numa maior procura de explicações para responder às questões-problema. Os dados recolhidos permitiram, ainda, concluir quanto ao acréscimo da recolha de evidências num aperfeiçoamento da autonomia e numa melhoria dos resultados escolares.

Integrating themes of geology that are included in the Biology and Geology curricula of secondary school (students age range 15-17), a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) study was developed using a modeling strategy. With the intention of investigating if modeling could promote meaningful learning in students, an intervention program using geological models was implemented during 5 weeks (24 hours). The Research & Development promoted was methodologically-based through triangulation and used many techniques and instruments to collect data. Modeling allowed students to be increasingly involved in elaborating explanations and formulating hypothesis, as well as in a broader search for explanations to solve problems. The collected data led to the conclusion that meaningful science learning was performed by students as shown by their increase in searching for evidence, in autonomy, and in a higher school assessment scores

Questões são enunciados que requerem uma resposta refletida e que desempenham diversas funções educativas, incluindo o despoletar novas aprendizagens. Neste caso, o seu uso enquadra-se na Aprendizagem Baseada na Resolução de Problemas (ABRP, do inglês, Problem-Based Learning, PBL), que coloca o aluno no centro dos processos de ensino e aprendizagem, atribuindo-lhe um papel ativo na aprendizagem de novo conhecimento. Atendendo à influência que os manuais exercem nas práticas de ensino, a questão que se coloca é a de saber em que medida as questões incluídas nos manuais escolares de Ciências podem fomentar um ensino orientado para a ABRP. Neste texto, descrever-se-á o processo de construção e validação de uma grelha de análise de questões incluídas em manuais escolares de Ciências com essa finalidade, apresentando-se não só essa grelha, mas também, a título ilustrativo, uma aplicação da mesma a um tópico de Ciências, 8º ano, abordado nas duas disciplinas desta área.

Questions require a thoughtful answer and can play diverse educational roles, such as stimulating the learning of new knowledge, as is the case in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) contexts. In this context, the student is placed at the center of the teaching and learning processes and plays an active role in the learning of new knowledge. Bearing in mind the influence that textbooks exert on teaching practices, it is worthwhile questioning to which extent questions included in school science textbooks promote a PBL oriented teaching approach. This paper describes the development and validation of a checklist for analyzing the questions included in science textbooks. After introducing the checklist, an example of its application to a science unit assigned to two junior high school science courses (8th grade) is given, approaching the two disciplines in the area.

O objetivo deste artigo foi descrever crenças esssencialistas em um experimento no paradigma do transplante de cérebro. Participantes brasileiros (101) e espanhóis (138) foram submetidos a um experimento mental de desenho 2 (país) x 2 (direção do transplante). A análise loglinear não evidenciou um claro efeito principal do país, embora tenha identificado uma interação entre o país e o transplante de cérebro. Posteriormente, as justificativas apresentadas pelos participantes foram analisadas e o que evidenciou que as pressões situacionais foram arroladas para explicar a estabilidade da conduta, enquanto as demais fontes explicativas foram adotadas predominantemente para explicar mudanças no comportamento decorrentes do transplante do cérebro. Implicações são discutidas.

The purpose of this article is to report the results of an experimental study about essentialistic beliefs conducted according to the brain transplant paradigm. A sample of Brazilians (101) and Spaniards (138) were submitted to a mental experiment in a 2 (Country) x 2 (direction of the brain's transplant) design. A log-linear analysis showed no clear main effects of the country, but an interaction between country and brain transfer. The justifications given by the participants were analyzed showing that contextual pressures were adopted to justify the stability of behavior while other type of explanations were mainly used to justify behavioral changes after the presumed brain transplant. The implications of these findings are discussed.

Uma preocupação sempre presente da investigação na área da Psicologia Educacional, é a da compreensão do processo de aprendizagem do aluno, nomeadamente em contexto formal de ensino. Nessa linha, o ensino das ciências recorre a essa área de conhecimento para fundamentar teoricamente concepções e práticas de ensino/aprendizagem, no contexto e ecologia de sala de aula específicos. Neste artigo apresenta-se o contributo das diversas teorias de aprendizagem no processo de ensino/aprendizagem das ciências, especificando a influência de algumas delas nas perspectivas de ensino que foram sendo evolutivamente assumidas. Desse modo, inicia-se uma descrição histórica, referindo perspectivas de ensino apoiadas na vertente behaviorista e termina-se a sua abordagem referindo teorias cognitivo-construtivistas, que deram lugar a perspectivas de ensino voltadas para o papel do aluno, como sujeito ativo na construção do conhecimento, e para o reconhecimento do valor meramente instrumental dos conteúdos curriculares.

It is always a concern for research in the area of Educational Psychology, to understand the process of learning of the student, namely in a formal context of teaching. In this sense, the teaching of Sciences uses this area of knowledge in an attempt to ground theoretically conceptions of teaching/learning. Here, the authors attempt to underline the contribution of the learning theories in the process of learning/teaching of Sciences, specifying their influence in the perspectives of teaching that have been previously assumed. In this way, an historical description is started, referring perspectives of teaching supported in the behaviourist approach, and finish by referring cognitive-constructive theories that gave rise to teaching perspectives more focussed on the role of the student in the construction of knowledge, and for the recognition of the innate instrumental value of the curricular subjects.
