ABSTRACT This research is related to the evaluation of vegetative growth parameters, initial yield and incidence of pests and diseases of twelve Arabica coffee cultivars submitted to the subtropical humidity environment of Vale do Ribeira Paulista, Brazil. The experiment was performed in the Experimental Campus of the UNESP in Registro, in a randomized block design, with three replications. Stem diameter, number of plagiotropic branches, plant height, number of internodes of plagiotropic branches, length of the first plagiotropic branch, incidence of brown eye spot and phoma leaf spot on coffee leaves, infestation by leaf miner and the yield of cultivars were evaluated. The results obtained allowed to conclude that: i) cultivars Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62, Catuaí Vermelho IAC 99 and Mundo Novo IAC 379-1 were higher than the others, with yield above the national average in 2020 and percentage of flat beans below 10%; ii) all cultivars evaluated showed a similar level of increment of variables that indicate plant growth and reproductive development; iii) the cultivation environment is favorable to infestation by the leaf miner and unfavorable to the incidence of rust; iv) The prevailing climatic conditions in the Vale do Ribeira Paulista is suitable for the production of Arabica coffee. parameters Brazil Registro design replications diameter branches height branch leaves i 62 9 3791 379 1 379- others 202 10% 10 ii development iii rust iv 6 37 20 3 2

Resumo No presente trabalho, a comparação de três dos principais métodos de estimativa da radiação solar foi realizada: modelos empíricos, Redes Neurais Artificiais (RNA) e Máquina de Vetores de Suporte (SVM). Quatro modelos empíricos considerados clássicos foram calibrados e validados para a estimativa da radiação solar UV horária em Botucatu, Estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Mantendo os modelos empíricos como referências em relação a precisão e variáveis de entrada utilizadas, os desempenhos da RNA e da SVM foram avaliados. Por meio dos parâmetros estatísticos Erro Médio Padrão (MBE) e Erro Médio Absoluto (MAE) foi confirmada a superioridade da SVM em relação à RNA e aos modelos empíricos. Comparada à RNA, a SVM foi capaz de gerar melhores resultados utilizando um número menor de variáveis de entrada. Dentre todos os métodos de estimativa testados, a SVM utilizando o conjunto de variáveis de entrada {UV0, KT} é considerada a melhor alternativa devido ao pequeno número de variáveis de entrada utilizadas e pela relativa acurácia.

Abstract In the present paper, the comparison of three of the main estimation methods of solar radiation was performed: empirical models, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Four classical empirical models were calibrated and validated in order to estimate hourly solar UV data in Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. Taken the empirical models as reference of accuracy and set for input variables, the performance of ANN and SVM were assessed. Through the statistical parameters Mean Bias Error (MBE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) was confirmed the superiority of the SVM over the ANN and empirical models. The SVM is capable to generate better results than ANN using a less number of input variables. Among all estimation methods, SVM using the set of input variables {UV0, KT} is considered the best alternative due to the smaller number of input variables and relative precision.

Objetivou-se no presente trabalho, comparar as temperaturas do ar médias diárias obtidas por duas estações meteorológicas, a ECP (Estação Climatológica Principal) e a PCD (Plataforma de Coleta de Dados), ambas localizadas no campus da UFLA (Universidade Federal de Lavras) em Lavras, MG, e verificar a eficácia do cálculo de médias das temperaturas por meio da equação utilizada pela FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) e pela média aritmética dos valores obtidos pela PCD em relação à equação utilizada pelo INMET (Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia), tomando essa como referência. Foram analisados dados de 2 anos consecutivos, representados pelos períodos de 30/06 a 31/12/2004, com um total de 137 dias de observações e de 01/01 a 04/12/2005, com um total de 186 dias de observações. A comparação entre as duas estações, mostrou uma boa concordância entre as temperaturas observadas (r² > 0,90). Com relação à utilização das equações, a que calcula a temperatura do ar utilizando a média aritmética apresentou melhor resultado (r² > 0,94). A equação utilizada pela FAO, demonstrou uma pequena tendência em superestimar os valores de temperatura.

The aim of this work was to compare the daily averages of the air temperatures obtained by two meteorological stations, ECP (Principal Climatological Station) and PCD (Data Collect Platform), both located at the experimental campus of UFLA (Federal University of Lavras) in Lavras, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, and verify the effectiveness of temperature averages calculated through the equation proposed by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) and for the arithmetic average of the values supplied by PCD in relation to the equation used by INMET (National Institute of Meteorology, Brazil), being this a reference. One analyzed data of consecutives two years, represented by the periods from 06/30 to 2004/12/31, with a total of 137 days of observation and 01/01 to 2005/12/04, with a total of 186 days of observation. The comparison between the two stations, showed a good agreement among the observed temperatures (r² > 0,90). With relation to the use of the equations, the one that calculates the temperature of the air using the arithmetic average, it presented better result (r² > 0,94). The equation used by FAO, demonstrated a small tendency in overestimating the temperature values.
