Abstract The aim of this work was to study the phenology of several sweet orange cultivars and their relationship with the accumulated degree-day (ADD), under the conditions of the Depressão Central of Rio Grande do Sul, in Southern Brazil. For this, 25 genotypes were evaluated for three consecutive growing seasons between 2015 and 2018. The experiment was carried out in a Citrus Collection located in municipality of Eldorado do Sul, RS, Brazil. The ADD was calculated for each interval between the phenological stages, as well as for the entire cycle. The first one, swelling of the buds, was concentrated between mid-July and early August. Sprouting in winter increased the risk of frost damage. Full bloom occurred between August 28 and September 22, when the orange trees ‘Cabula’, ‘Rubi’, ‘Lima Verde’ and ‘Folha Murcha’ were the first to bloom and ‘Sanguinea’, ‘Salustiana’, ‘Midknight’ and ‘Jaffa’ the last. The last stage evaluated, the skin color change of the fruits, occurred between the beginning of April and the end of May, with 2,306.4 to 2,619.4 ADD, since the beginning of sprouting. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar a fenologia de diversas cultivares de laranjeiras-doces e sua relação com os graus-dia acumulados (GDA), nas condições da Depressão Central do RS. Para isso, 25 genótipos foram avaliados por três safras consecutivas, entre 2015 e 2018, conforme a escala fenológica BBCH. O experimento foi conduzido em Coleção de Citros localizada no município de Eldorado doSul-RS, Brasil. Calcularam-se, os GDAs para cada intervalo entre os estádios fenológicos, bem como para todo o ciclo. O primeiro deles, inchamento das gemas, aconteceu concentradoentre meados de julho e início de agosto. A brotação, ainda no inverno, aumentou riscos dedanos por geadas. Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of saline and water stresses on the germination of seeds and of saline stress on the development of seedlings of 'SCS437 Catarina' Passiflora edulis. The seeds were germinated on paper moistened with NaCl and PEG 6,000 solutions, at the osmotic potentials of 0.00, −0.25, −0.50, −0.75, −1.00, and −2.00 MPa. The produced seedlings were exposed only to NaCl. The seeds show tolerance to saline stress up to an osmotic potential of −0.75 MPa, while the seedlings present tolerance up to an osmotic potential of −0.50 MPa (10.96 mS cm−1). Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos do estresse salino e hídrico na germinação das sementes, e do estresse salino no desenvolvimento de mudas de Passiflora edulis 'SCS437 Catarina'. As sementes foram germinadas em papel umedecido com soluções de NaCl e de PEG 6.000, nos potenciais osmóticos de 0,00, −0,25, −0,50, −0,75, −1,00 e −2,00 MPa. As mudas produzidas foram expostas apenas ao NaCl. As sementes apresentam tolerância ao estresse salino até o potencial osmótico de −0.75 MPa, enquanto as mudas demonstram tolerância até o potencial osmótico de −0.50 MPa (10.96 mS cm−1). Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the production of advanced seedlings of sour passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims.) in pruning intensities at different volumes of containers. The experiment was carried out in a production nursery, in Pedras Grandes, Santa Catarina state. The experimental design was a randomized block design and the treatments were arranged in a factorial scheme of five pruning intensities (control and pruning from the emission of 2, 4, 6, and 8 defined leaves) x 3 container volumes (1.0; 1.7 and 3.6 liters), with three replications and six plants per plot. The height and number of leaves (NF) of the seedlings were evaluated throughout the experiment and, at the end, the percentage of plants with a twisted root system (PSRE), root volume (VR), root dry mass (MSR), aerial part (MSPA) and total were measured (MST). The control treatment (without pruning) showed greater height, NF, MSPA and MST, regardless of container volume. The production of advanced sour passion fruit seedlings under pruning intensities reduced height, NF, MSPA and MST. Seedlings formed in larger volume containers provided greater height, NF, VR, MSR, MSPA and MST, in addition to the lowest PSRE. Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a produção de mudas avançadas de maracujazeiro-azedo (Passiflora edulisSims.), sob intensidades de poda, em diferentes volumes de recipientes. Realizou-se o experimento em viveiro de produção, em Pedras Grandes - SC. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos ao acaso, e os tratamentos arranjados em esquema fatorial, 5 intensidades de poda (controle e podas a partir da emissão de 2; 4; 6 e 8 folhas definidas) x 3 volumes de recipiente (1,0; 1,7 e 3,6 litros), com três repetições e seis plantas por parcela. Avaliaram-se a altura e o número de folhas (NF) das mudas ao longo do experimento e, ao final, o percentual de plantas com o sistema radicular enovelado (PSRE), volume de raízes (VR), massa seca de raízes (MSR), parte aérea (MSPA) e total (MST). Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o número de aplicações sucessivas de ácido giberélico (GA3), no período de outono-inverno, quanto a seu efeito na redução do florescimento, na primavera subsequente após períodos de baixa carga de frutos (ano “off”), em tangerineiras 'Montenegrina' (Citrus deliciosa). As aplicações sequenciais a 40 mg L-1 de GA3 foram testadas de uma a quatro vezes, com intervalos de 21 dias, com início no final de maio. O experimento foi realizado em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro tratamentos e controle, quatro repetições e uma planta por unidade experimental. Floração, brotação, tipos de brotos, frutificação e diâmetro dos frutos foram avaliados. A frutificação diminui exponencialmente com o aumento da intensidade de floração. O uso de GA3 em duas, três ou quatro aplicações sequenciais, de maio a junho, maio a julho e maio a agosto, reduz a intensidade de floração e brotação em plantas com produção alternada na primavera subsequente, o que aumenta os brotos mistos e reduz os brotos florais. O uso de quatro aplicações sequenciais de 40 mg L-1 de GA3 promove grande incremento na frequência de brotos campaneiros e favorece o aumento da fixação e do tamanho dos frutos.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the number of successive applications of gibberellic acid (GA3), during the autumn-winter period, for its effect on the reduction of flowering, in the subsequent spring after periods of low fruit load (off-year), in 'Montenegrina' mandarin trees (Citrus deliciosa). Sequential applications at 40 mg L-1 GA3 were tested from one to four times, at 21-day intervals, beginning in the end of May. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design, with four treatments and a control, four replicates, and one plant per experimental unit. Flowering, sprouting, types of shoots, fruit set, and fruit diameter were evaluated. The fruit set increases exponentially with the reduction of flowering intensity. The use of GA3 in two, three, or four sequential applications, from May to June, May to July, and from May to August, at 21-day intervals, reduces the intensity of flowering and sprouting of alternate bearing plants in the subsequent spring, increasing mixed shoots and reducing floral shoots. The use of four sequential applications of 40 mg L-1 GA3 promotes a great increase in the frequency of single flower terminal leafy shoots and favors the increase of fruit fixation and size.

RESUMO: A tangerineira 'Montenegrina' ( Citrus deliciosa Tenore) é amplamente cultivada no sul do Brasil. Possui grande tendência à alternância de produção, necessitando de raleio de frutos. Contudo, os raleantes químicos estudados até hoje nesta cultivar não se demonstraram eficientes. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito do ácido 3,5,6-tricloro-2-piridiniloxiacético (3,5,6-TPA) sobre a produção e qualidade de frutos da tangerineira 'Montenegrina', em relação às opções de raleio químico previamente estudadas. Foram utilizados, como padrão, raleio manual e plantas sem raleio (controle). Realizaram-se aplicações de ethephon em três doses: 200mg L-1, 300mg L-1 e 200mg L-1 + 3% de ureia; e aplicações de 3,5,6-TPA, em quatro doses: 10, 20, 30 e 40mg L-1. Os frutos de árvores raleadas manualmente e de tratadas com 3,5,6-TPA a 40mg L-1 apresentaram maior tamanho médio, melhor distribuição de calibres comerciais e cores mais alaranjadas. Nenhum tratamento reduziu a alternância de produção. Aplicações de 40mg L-1 de 3,5,6-TPA como raleante químico, durante a queda fisiológica de frutos jovens, propiciaram efeito similar ao raleio manual sobre a produção e qualidade dos frutos de tangerineira 'Montenegrina'.

ABSTRACT: The 'Montenegrina' mandarin ( Citrus deliciosa Tenore) is widely cultivated in southern Brazil. This cultivar has a great tendency for alternate bearing, requiring thining of the fruit. However, the chemical thinners studied until now in this cultivar have not been successful. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinyloxyacetic acid (3,5,6-TPA) on the production and fruit quality of the 'Montenegrina' mandarin, in comparison with hand thinning and the options of chemical thinning previously studied. Hand thinning and no thinning were used as controls. Ethephon was applied in three doses: 200mg L-1, 300mg L-1 or 200mg L-1 + 3% urea; or 3,5,6-TPA, in four doses: 10, 20, 30 or 40mg L-1. Fruits of the hand thinned trees and those treated with 40mg L-1 showed greater average size, greater distribution of commercial caliber and more orange colors. No treatment reduced alternate bearing. Applications of 40mg L-1 of 3,5,6-TPA as a chemical thinner, during the physiological drop of young fruit, had a similar effect that of hand thinning over yield and quality of fruits of 'Montenegrina' mandarin.

O objetivo foi verificar a influência do sistema de cultivo, orgânico e convencional, sobre as características físicas e químicas e sobre a aceitação pelo consumidor de laranjas 'Valência' (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb.). Os pomares foram instalados no município de Montenegro, em julho de 2001, em espaçamento de 2,5mx5,0m, cada um possuindo uma área de 0,25ha. As avaliações foram realizadas a partir de amostras de frutos colhidas em setembro e outubro de 2011 e em outubro de 2012. Os parâmetros físicos e químicos analisados nos frutos foram: teor de suco (TS), teor de sólidos solúveis (SS), acidez titulável (AT), relação SS/AT e índice de cor da casca.A avaliação da aceitação das laranjas foi realizada com avaliadores não treinados, e utilizando escala hedônica de nove pontos, que expressam o grau de gostar ou desgostar do produto. O delineamento experimental foi completamente casualizado. Os frutos apresentaram parâmetros de qualidade adequados aos padrões internacionais e não diferiram entre si quanto as suas características físicas e químicas na maioria dos atributos avaliados. A aceitação foi satisfatória em todos os atributos avaliados (todos superiores a 70%). As diferenças observadas nos atributos físicos e químicos não foram percebidas pelos avaliadores, não havendo, portanto, distinção na aceitação dos frutos pelo consumidor entre os sistemas de cultivo

The objective of the research was to investigate the influence of cultivating systems (organic and conventional) on physical and chemical attributes, and consumer acceptance of 'Valencia' oranges (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb.). The orchards were field planted in Montenegro, Brazil, in July 2001. Plants are spaced 2.5m in the row by 5.0m between rows, totaling 0.25ha each orchard. Evaluations were made using fruit samples collected in September and October of 2011, and October of 2012. The physical and chemical attributes evaluated were: juice contents (TS), soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (AT), ratio SS/AT and color index in the peel (ICC). The oranges' consumer acceptance was determined by untrained evaluators using a nine-point hedonic scale, where the degree in which they'like' or 'dislike' the product is expressed. The experimental design was completely randomized. As results, oranges showed parameters of quality accordingly to international standards. The physical and chemical attributes were not different between conventional and organic systems for most attributes evaluated. Consumer acceptance was satisfactory in all attributes evaluated (all above 70%). The differences observed on the physical and chemical attributes were not perceived by the evaluators; therefore, there is no distinction on the acceptability of the fruits by consumers despite of the cultivation system
