ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to evaluate leaf temperature, and watermelon yield components under wetted area percentages (PW) in irrigation located in the Agreste region of Northeastern Brazil. Two experiments were carried out in 2018 and 2019. The adopted statistical design was randomized blocks, with six replications and four treatments, in 2018: P1 = 13%, P2 = 14%, P3 = 19%, and P4 = 22%, in 2019: P5 = 12%, P6 = 15%, P7 = 16%, and P8 = 21% of PW. The meteorological variables analyzed were: air temperature (Ta) and rain. The experimental evaluations consisted of measuring the temperature of the plant’s vegetative canopy, tensiometry, mass, and BRIX. Air temperature was not a limiting factor for watermelon growth and development. The average was 195.88 mm, and the average leaf temperature of watermelon is 29.5 °C, a value lower than Ta. There was no statistically significant difference for fruit mass and BRIX, where the overall mean was 10.82 and 10.46 kg, respectively. Therefore, it is feasible to irrigate watermelon with wetted area percentages ranging from 12 to 22%, in localized irrigation systems, without generating physiological damage and reducing agricultural productivity and fruit quality. ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to evaluate the biochemical and physiological quality of peanut cultivar seeds under periods of imbibition and drying. A completely randomized statistical design was adopted, in factorial scheme, with four replications. The three peanut cultivars were: BR1, BRS 151-L7, and IAC 505. The imbibition and drying periods were: 0, 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours. The seeds were imbibition with the aid of germitest paper and distilled water, then dried on a metal screen in a plastic box with silica, according to the periods studied. Physiological variables were evaluated (percentage of germination, normal seedlings, abnormal seedlings in the first count and abnormal seedlings in the final count, accelerated aging, seedling length, electrical conductivity, speed index, and average germination time) and biochemical variables (sugar concentration total, reducing sugars, hydrogen peroxide, total superoxide dismutase proteins, and total proteins). RESUMOO trabalho objetivou determinar a produção de massa da matéria seca das partes da planta e o acúmulo total de macro e micronutrientes pelas mudas enxertadas de cultivares de pereira em condições hidropônicas. Utilizou-se do delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 3x 3, com quatro repetições. Os fatores emestudo foram: três cultivares (Triunfo, Tenra e Cascatense) e três tipos de enxertia (borbulhia em placa - BP; borbulhia em ‘T’ invertido – BT, e garfagem de fenda cheia –GF). Avaliaram-se a massa seca da parte área, do sistema radicular e total, e o acúmulo total de nutrientes. O método de enxertia de garfagem de fenda cheia e as cultivares Tenra e Triunfo são indicados para a produção de mudas de pereira em sistema hidropônico. No acúmulo de nutrientes nas mudas de pereira, independentemente da cultivar, estabeleceu-se a seguinte ordem para macronutrientes: N>Mg>K>Ca>P>S; e para os micronutrientes: Fe>Mn>B>Zn>Cu.

ABSTRACTThe production of grafted seedlings of pear and peach trees in hydroponics is recent and has been becoming a promising propagation method with a significant reduction in the seedling production time. This study was conducted in order to determine the dry matter of plant parts and the accumulation of macro and micronutrients by pear graftedseedlings in hydroponic conditions. It was used a completely randomized factorial scheme 3 x 3 with four replications was. Each replication was made up of two plants (one in each tube), amounting to 72 plants. The factors under study were: three cultivars (Triunfo, Tenra and Cascatense) and three sorts of grafting (bench grafting - BP, inverted T budding -BT and cleft grafting -GF). The nutrient accumulation in pear seedlings, regardless of the cultivar, settled in the following order for macronutrients: N>Mg>K>Ca>P>S; and micronutrients: Fe>Mn>B>Zn>Cu.

O uso de bagas de mamona para a produção de biodiesel já é realidade, entretanto, a obtenção de sementes de qualidade ainda é um desafio. O beneficiamento de sementes é uma etapa da produção que visa aprimorar a qualidade do lote, no entanto, pouco se conhece sobre os efeitos do aprimoramento de lotes de sementes de mamona em mesa densimétrica. O trabalho foi realizado com objetivo de avaliar a influência do beneficiamento de lotes de sementes de mamona em mesa densimétrica nos seus atributos físicos, fisiológicos e sanitários. Foram utilizados dois lotes comerciais da cultivar AL Guarany 2002 estratificados em cinco categorias de acordo com sua classificação em mesa densimétrica (alimentação e descargas inferior, inferior intermediária, superior intermediária e superior). Avaliaram-se: rendimento, peso de mil sementes, germinação, emergência de plântulas, condutividade elétrica e teste de sanidade. A classificação de sementes de mamona em mesa densimétrica melhora a qualidade física, fisiológica e sanitária de lotes comerciais. A resposta fisiológica dos diferentes lotes de sementes de mamona à classificação varia em função de sua densidade inicial. As sementes de mamona classificadas em mesa densimétrica na descarga superior apresentam melhor qualidade física, fisiológica e sanitária em relação àquelas provenientes da descarga inferior.

Castor bean fruits are already used for biodiesel production but obtaining quality seeds is still a challenge. Seed cleaning improves lot quality but little is known about the effects of upgrading castor bean seed lots on a densimetric table. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of cleaning castor bean seed lots on a densimetric table on their physical, physiological and sanitary characteristics. Two commercial lots of the AL Guarani 2002 cultivar, separated into five categories according to their classification on a densimetric table (uncleaned and low, low intermediate, high intermediate and high outlets), were evaluated. Tests for the yield, one-thousand seed weight, germination, seedling emergence, electrical conductivity and seed health were performed. The classification of castor bean seeds on a densimetric table significantly improved the physical, physiological and sanitary quality of commercial seed lots. The physiological response of the different classified lots varied according to their initial weight. Castor bean seeds separated on a densimetric table for the upper outlet showed a better physical, physiological and sanitary quality compared to those for the lower outlet.
