ABSTRACT The tropical forest is extremely exploited and fragmented, making it essential to collect native seeds to meet the growing demand for its restoration and maintenance of biodiversity. Thus, the objective is to select potential forest fragments with a higher degree of conservation for seed harvesting, through the use and association of landscape ecology with fuzzy logic. The study was carried out in the watershed of the Itapemirim river. The stages of selection and photointerpretation of the images were carried out; error determination; application of landscape ecology metric indices; application of fuzzy logic in a computational application and validation of the methodology in loco. 7,515 forest fragments were determined, corresponding to 19.21% of the study area, with 89.53% of hits. Fragments smaller than 5 ha are the most fragile and are at risk of extinction, while those larger than 300 ha have a lower risk of extinction, even with the increase in the edge. With the application of fuzzy logic, the mean was between 0.15, standard deviation of 0.24 and the coefficient of variation at 161.73%. Scenario 1 (FLONA of Pacotuba), has 10.25% of families, 25.92% of genera and 33.62% of species more than Scenario 2 (PEAMA Ifes Campus of Alegre), among the identified individuals. The association of landscape ecology techniques and fuzzy logic made it possible to identify fragments with a higher degree of conservation, with potential for harvesting forest seeds.

RESUMO A floresta tropical é extremamente explorada e fragmentada, sendo imprescindível a coleta de sementes nativas, a fim de atender a crescente demanda para sua restauração e manutenção da biodiversidade. Dessa forma, objetiva-se selecionar fragmentos florestais potenciais com maior grau de conservação para a colheita de sementes, via utilização e associação da ecologia da paisagem à lógica Fuzzy. O estudo foi realizado na bacia hidrográfica do rio Itapemirim. Foram realizadas as etapas de seleção e fotointerpretação das imagens; determinação do erro; aplicação dos índices métricos de ecologia da paisagem; aplicação da lógica Fuzzy em aplicativo computacional e validação da metodologia in loco. Foram determinados 7.515 fragmentos florestais, correspondendo a 19,21% da área de estudo, com 89,53% de acertos. Os fragmentos menores que 5 ha são os mais frágeis e possuem risco de extinção, enquanto os maiores que 300 ha possuem menor risco de extinção, mesmo com o aumento da borda. Com a aplicação da lógica Fuzzy, a média ficou entre 0,15, desvio padrão de 0,24 e o coeficiente de variação em 161,73 %. O Cenário 1 (FLONA de Pacotuba) possui 10,25% de famílias, 25,92 % de gêneros e 33,62% de espécies a mais que o Cenário 2 (PEAMA Ifes Campus de Alegre), entre os indivíduos identificados. A associação das técnicas de ecologia da paisagem e lógica Fuzzy possibilitou identificar os fragmentos em maior grau de conservação, com potencial para colheita de sementes florestais.

ABSTRACT The institution of biological value areas through the creation of Natural Protected Areas is an essential tool for protecting the country’s environmental resources to face advanced anthropic development in natural areas, either to increase agriculture production or for economic growth. Environmental vulnerability studies combined with geotechnological tools have been vital to identifying the most vulnerable areas and consequently help Conservation Units protection. This study aimed to analyze environmental vulnerability at the buffer zone of Itabira Natural Monument (MONAI) in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Brazil. The necessary methodological steps for this study were as follows: a) Photointerpretation of land use; b) Anthropic variables selection; c) Application of Euclidean distance function in variables vector images; d) Application of fuzzy membership function in variables raster images; e) Application of Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP); and f) Spatial classification of environmental vulnerability around MONAI. Land use conflicts reveal a relevant presence of pasture areas, representing 49.80% of the buffer zone. This fact corroborates with its Euclidean distance value, which showed the lowest linear value, 836 meters. Eight anthropic variables have been incorporated, highlighting crops, urban areas, exposed soil and pasture. Jenks natural breaks defined five vulnerability classes. According to the results, 57.14% of the entire MONAI buffer zone is represented by the high and very high classes. The outdated law creation of MONAI and the need for a management plan result in a vulnerable buffer zone. The present study can support management plan formulation and assist MONAI’s buffer zone delimitation.

RESUMO A instituição de áreas de elevado valor biológico por meio da criação Unidades de Conservação (UC’s) tem se tornado importante instrumento de proteção aos recursos ambientais no país, frente ao desenfreado avanço antrópico sobre ambientes naturais. Os estudos de vulnerabilidade ambiental aliados à geotecnologia têm se mostrado uma relevante ferramenta na identificação de áreas mais vulneráveis, e, consequentemente, no gerenciamento e proteção das UC’s. Este trabalho objetivou analisar a vulnerabilidade ambiental no entorno do Monumento Natural do Itabira (MONAI), localizado no município de Cachoeiro de Itapemirim/ES, por meio de ferramentas geotecnológicas e inteligência artificial. As etapas metodológicas necessárias para este estudo foram: a) fotointerpretação do uso e ocupação da terra; b) seleção das variáveis antrópicas; c) aplicação da distância euclidiana nos vetores representativos das variáveis; d) aplicação da lógica Fuzzy nas matrizes das variáveis de distância euclidiana; e) aplicação do método Hierárquico Analítico (AHP); e f) espacialização das áreas de vulnerabilidade ambiental no entorno do MONAI. Os conflitos de uso e ocupação da terra demonstraram presença majoritária de pastagens, representando 49,80% da área de estudo, corroborando com o cálculo da distância euclidiana que atribuiu a esta variável o menor valor linear em relação à UC, 836 metros. Dentre as 5 classes de vulnerabilidade definidas pelas quebras naturais de Jenks, observou-se que 57,14% do entorno do MONAI é representado pelas classes alta e muito alta. A desatualização da lei de criação do MONAI e a inexistência de plano de manejo implicam no mapeamento de uma zona de amortecimento majoritariamente vulnerável ambientalmente. O presente estudo pode subsidiar a elaboração do plano de manejo e a demarcação da zona de amortecimento do MONAI.

ABSTRACT Background: The aim of this research is to optimize the routing of Brazil nut harvesting in order to reduce labor costs and promote an equitable redistribution of placements among extractive interests. The study area was located in the Tahuamanu province, designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, in the Madre de Dios region of Peru. Planning for harvesting activities is vital to support sustainable use of the tropical forest by extractive communities, generating profit while minimizing adverse impacts on the forest. A location-allocation model was used to redistribute extraction placement areas, taking into account the number of trees and productivity for analysis. To optimize the order of nut load pickups at the placement areas, the vehicle routing problem (VRP) was used to minimize real distance and reduce traversal time. Results: The time taken to cover the route without delays was 08:46’, which is superior to the time taken to minimize the distance. However, the total delay time was 05:10’. Conclusion: Network analyses were effective in achieving the reallocation of placement areas and optimizing Brazil nut harvest routes.

RESUMO O estudo foi realizado em todo o estado do Espírito Santo, com o objetivo de delimitar as Áreas de Preservação Permanentes (APPs) na ótica da Lei 12.651/2012 (Código Florestal) e ressaltar a importância de identificar as áreas de forma automática. Cada APP possui uma metodologia própria para o seu mapeamento, entretanto, todas foram mapeadas com o auxílio de geotecnologia. O estado possui 22,43% de sua área de APPs, distribuídas ao longo da faixa marginal dos cursos d’água (10,42%); no entorno de lagos e lagoas naturais (0,67%); no entorno dos reservatórios d’água artificiais (0,02%); no entorno das nascentes (0,89%); em encostas com declividades superiores a 45º (0,24%); em restingas (1,92%); em manguezais (0,19%); em topo de morros (8,98%); e em altitudes superiores a 1.800 metros (0,19%) da área total do estado. O presente estudo serve como subsídio técnico para avaliação e quantificação da APPs em um Estado, visto que é o primeiro em nível estadual no Brasil sobre o tema.

ABSTRACT The study was conducted across the state of Espirito Santo, with the objective of limiting the Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs) by optical law 12.651/2012 (forest code) and highlight the importance of identifying those areas automatically. Each PPA has its own methodology for their mapping, however, all were mapped with the aid of geotechnology. The state has 22.43% of its PPA area distributed along the marginal strip watercourses (10.42%); in the surroundings of lakes and natural ponds (0.67%); around the artificial water reservoirs (0.02%), in the vicinity of springs (0.89%) in the hillsides with slopes greater than 45° (0.24%); in restingas (1.92%); in mangroves (0.19%); on top of hills (8.98%); and in higher than 1800 meters (0.19%) of the total area of the state altitudes. This study serves as a technical subsidy for evaluation and quantification of PPAs in a State, since it is the first one in a state level in Brazil on the issue.

RESUMO Objetivou-se diagnosticar e analisar a conectividade estrutural da paisagem fragmentada no entorno da Unidade de Conservação Reserva Particular de Patrimônio Natural Cafundó, propondo a restauração por Corredores Ecológicos. O mapeamento do uso e cobertura da terra e dos índices de ecologia da paisagem possibilitou detectar, analisar e compreender a estrutura da paisagem. Esses índices foram obtidos por meio do software TerraView, dentro do plugin GeoDMA, para as 10 classes mapeadas. No período estudado (1970 e 2007) verificaram-se poucas mudanças no uso e ocupação da terra, predominando a matriz pastagem em ambas as datas. A delimitação do Corredor Ecológico pelo método Processo Hierárquico Analítico utilizou cada classe mapeada para definir o peso relativo de sua instalação. Os resultados demonstraram um aumento da fragmentação da paisagem, sendo possível delimitar um Corredor Ecológico de menor custo como alternativa para aumentar a conectividade entre Unidades de Conservação.

ABSTRACT This work aimed to diagnose and analyze the structural connectivity of fragmented landscape surrounding the Conservation Unit Private Reservation of Natural Patrimony Cafundó, proposing the restoration through Ecological Corridors. The mapping of land use and land cover, and landscape ecology indexes allowed detecting, analyzing and understanding the landscape structure. These indexes were calculated using the GeoDMA plugin for the 10 mapped classes. During the study period (1970 and 2007) there have been few changes in the land use and occupation, predominantly to pasture matrix on both dates. The delimitation of Ecological Corridor for the Analytical Hierarchy Process method used each mapped class to set the relative weight for installation. The results showed an increase in the landscape fragmentation allowing the definition of an Ecological Corridor of lower cost as an alternative to increase the connectivity among conservation units.

RESUMO As métricas de ecologia da paisagem associadas à mineração de dados podem ser utilizadas para aumentar o potencial de análise e aplicações de dados de sensoriamento remoto, tornando-se uma importante ferramenta para a tomada de decisão. Dessa forma, objetivou-se classificar e quantificar diferentes tipos de vegetação por meio de técnicas de mineração de dados e métricas de ecologia da paisagem em uma análise multitemporal (2001 e 2011), em São Luís do Paraitinga, São Paulo, Brasil. A análise de imagens orientada a objetos e o algoritmo de mineração de dados C4.5 foram utilizados para realizar a classificação automática, cuja precisão foi avaliada com o índice kappa e com as medidas de discordância de alocação e de quantidade, recentemente propostas na literatura. Foram classificadas quatro classes de uso e cobertura da terra, entre elas o Eucalipto cuja área aumentou de 4,4% para 8,6%. A classificação automática apresentou kappa de 0,79 e 0,8, erros de quantidade de 2% e 3,5% e alocação de 5,5% e 5% para 2001 e 2011, respectivamente. Conclui-se que o método de mineração de dados e as métricas de ecologia da paisagem foram eficientes na separação de classes de vegetação.

ABSTRACT The landscape ecology metrics associated with data mining can be used to increase the potential of remote sensing data analysis and applications, being an important tool for decision making. The present study aimed to use data mining techniques and landscape ecology metrics to classify and quantify different types of vegetation using a multitemporal analysis (2001 and 2011), in São Luís do Paraitinga city, São Paulo, Brazil. Object-based image analyses and the C4.5 data-mining algorithm were used for automated classification. Classification accuracies were assessed using the kappa index of agreement and the recently proposed allocation and quantity disagreement measures. Four land use and land cover classes were mapped, including Eucalyptus plantations, whose area increased from 4.4% to 8.6%. The automatic classification showed a kappa index of 0.79 and 0.80, quantity disagreements of 2% e 3.5% and allocation measures of 5.5% and 5% for 2001 and 2011, respectively. We therefore concluded that the data mining method and landscape ecology metrics were efficient in separating vegetation classes.

RESUMOOs produtos do açaí (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) apresentam grande importância econômica e cultural no Brasil com um crescente mercado consumidor. Com intuito de fornecer bases para ampliação desse cultivo em outros estados, buscou-se elaborar o zoneamento agroclimático para essa cultura no estado do Espírito Santo. Para tanto, utilizou-se de dados meteorológicos de 110 estações de órgãos governamentais e da ferramenta geotecnológica ArcGIS 10.1 para espacializar os dados de temperatura, precipitação e déficit hídrico e depois reclassificá-las para a geração do zoneamento. Os resultados demonstraram que 20,74% da área total do Espírito Santo possui zonas aptas a essa cultura, localizadas nas regiões Nordeste, Serrana e Sul, sendo Linhares o município com maior aptidão. Embora a maior parte do estado tenha algum tipo de restrição que limita o cultivo, seja da variável déficit hídrico, seja da precipitação, algumas técnicas podem minimizar tais restrições. Logo, torna-se viável a implantação da cultura do açaí no estado do Espírito Santo de acordo com as variáveis temperatura, precipitação e déficit hídrico.

ABSTRACTThe products of acaí (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) have great economic and cultural importance in Brazil with a growing consumer market. Seeking to provide a basis for the expansion of this crop in other states, we sought to develop the agroclimatic zoning for this crop in the state of Espírito Santo. Therefore, we used data from 110 meteorological stations and governmental geotecnologic's tool ArcGIS 10.1 for spatialize temperature data, precipitation and water deficit and then reschedule them for the generation of zoning. The results showed that 20.74% of the total area of the Espírito Santo has areas suitable to this culture, located in the Northeastern, Southern and mountainous, with Linhares the municipality with the highest fitness. Although most of the state has some kind of constraint that limits the cultivation, whether the variable is water deficit precipitation, some techniques can minimize such restrictions. Thus, it becomes feasible to implement the culture of acai in the state of Espírito Santo according to the variables temperature, precipitation and water deficit.

RESUMOObjetivou-se analisar o conflito de uso e cobertura das terras em Áreas de Preservação Permanente (APP) do Ifes – Campus de Alegre, à luz do atual Código Florestal Brasileiro. Foram delimitadas e investigadas as APP de nascentes, cursos d’água, declividades e topos de morro. As APP de declividades e de topos de morro foram obtidas a partir do modelo digital de elevação global GEDM-ASTER. O uso e a cobertura da terra foram alcançados por fotointerpretação sobre imagem orbital do sensor Geoeye 1 (resolução espacial de 0,50 m), totalizando 36 classes temáticas. Os resultados revelam que as APP totalizam 34,33% da área do Ifes – Campus de Alegre, ocupando 114,32 ha de extensão. As APP de topos de morro e dos cursos d’água são as que ocupam maior área, correspondendo a 16,94% e 14,03%, respectivamente. As APP de cursos d’água são as mais atingidas e as principais classes responsáveis por conflitos são as pastagens naturais (20,41 ha) e as estradas não pavimentadas (1,18 ha).

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to analyze the conflict of land use and land cover in Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA) of the ‘Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Espírito Santo’ - Ifes, Alegre Campus, in light of the current Brazilian Forest Code. The springs, watercourses, slopes and hill tops of the PPA were defined and investigated. The slopes and hill tops were obtained by the global digital elevation model GEDM-ASTER. Land use and land cover were achieved by photo-interpretation of orbital image sensor Geoeye 1 (spatial resolution of 0.50 m), totaling 36 thematic classes. The results showed that the PPAs occupy 34.33% of the total Ifes area, with an extension of 114.32 ha. The hilltops and watercourses occupy the largest areas, corresponding to 16.94% and 14.03%, respectively. The watercourses are the most affected areas, and the main classes responsible for conflicts are natural pastures (20.41 ha) and non-paved roads (1.18 ha).

O conhecimento sobre o histórico da fragmentação florestal em bacias hidrográficas auxilia no planejamento e na aplicação de práticas pautadas na restauração de áreas florestais devastadas. A análise estrutural dos fragmentos florestais da sub-bacia hidrográfica do rio Alegre, ES, baseou-se no uso de métricas da paisagem, por meio do aplicativo computacional ArcGis 10.0 e a extensão Patch Analyst, considerando uma evolução durante os anos de 1975, 2002 e 2007. As análises mostraram um aumento de, aproximadamente, 7% na área total da cobertura florestal, acompanhado do surgimento de 645 novos fragmentos florestais. O número de fragmentos foi elevado e a área de contribuição pequena, o que implicou na alta relação de borda/área. A predominância de fragmentos de forma geométrica simples ocorreu entre os menores fragmentos (< 1 ha). Os maiores fragmentos (> 20 ha) mostraram-se próximos, apresentando tendência de redução nos valores da métrica de proximidade. A partir dos resultados, infere-se que, apesar do aumento da área vegetada, a qualidade ambiental dos remanescentes florestais encontra-se altamente comprometida.

Knowing the history of forest fragmentation in watersheds helps plan and implement practices based on restoration of degraded forest areas. Structural analysis of forest fragments in the Alegre River subwatershed, State of Espírito Santo, was based on landscape metrics using ArcGIS 10 software with Patch Analyst extension, regarding changes during 1975, 2002, and 2007. Analysis showed an increase of about 7% in the total area of forest cover and emergence of 645 new forest fragments. Numerous patches and a small drainage area resulted in a high perimeter-to-area ratio. Simple geometric shapes predominated in smaller patches (< 1 ha). Larger patches (> 20 ha) were close to each other, with a tendency to decrease proximity metric values. The results show that despite increase in vegetated area, the environmental quality of forest remnants is highly jeopardized.

Para garantir a qualidade de vida da população e a manutenção dos recursos naturais no município de Muqui, localizado no extremo sul do estado do Espírito Santo, Brasil, entre as latitudes 20º50’ e 21º01’ Sul e longitudes 41º12’ e 41º28’ Oeste de Greewinch, com área de 327,75 km2, foi proposto um estudo a partir de análise utilizando geotecnologias, o qual teve por objetivos delimitar as Áreas de Preservação considerando a legislação ambiental que vigora no município, identificar o uso e ocupação da terra e analisar as áreas de confronto para verificar o grau de degradação, ressaltando a importância de identificarem-se as áreas visando implantar projetos ambientais que promovam ações em busca de um relacionamento sustentável entre homem e ambiente de forma mais eficiente.

A study based on geotechnology was carried out to ensure the quality of life and preservation of natural resources in the municipality of Muqui, comprising an area of 327.75 km2, located in the extreme south of Espirito Santo state, Brazil (20º 50', 21º 01' S; 41º 12', 41º 28' W). The study aimed to define Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA) from the viewpoint of the environmental legislation in force in the municipality; classify land use and occupation; identify and analyze conflict areas; and verify the state of degradation, highlighting the importance of identifying areas in order to automatically deploy projects that could efficiently promote environmental actions in pursuit of a sustainable relationship between humans and the environment.

Neste estudo, objetivou-se mapear as classes de uso e ocupação da terra e analisar e quantificar as mudanças estruturais ocorridas entre os anos de 1970 e 2007, no entorno da Unidade de Conservação (UC) Reserva Particular de Patrimônio Natural (RPPN) Cafundó, por meio do uso de índices de ecologia de paisagem. Com o mapa de uso e ocupação da terra foi possível caracterizar, quantitativamente, em termos de área, as classes presentes no entorno da unidade. No período estudado (1970 e 2007), houve poucas mudanças no uso e ocupação da terra no entorno da reserva, estando as áreas dominadas, em sua maioria, por pastagem. As métricas ou índices de ecologia da paisagem foram obtidos por meio da extensão Patch Analyst ao nível de paisagem e de classe, sendo obtidos valores para as 10 classes de uso e ocupação da terra mapeadas. Os resultados da análise quantitativa, por meio de métricas, apontaram para um aumento na fragmentação da paisagem no entorno da Unidade de Conservação RPPN Cafundó.

The objective of this study was to map the land use and occupancy classes and to analyze and quantify the structural changes of scenery, between the years 1970 and 2007, surrounding the Conservation Unit (UC) Private reservation of natural patrimony (PRNP) Cafundó, through the use of landscape ecology indexes. With the land use and occupation map itwas possible to characterize quantitatively, in terms of area, the present classes in the surroundings of the reservation. On the 37 evaluated years there were a few changes in the land use and occupancy surrounding the unit, with the areas mostly dominated by grazing. Landscape ecology metrics or indexes were obtained through the Patch Analyst extension by landscape and class level, and values were obtained for the 10 classes of land use and occupancy. The results of quantitative analysis by the use of metrics pointed to an increase in the fragmentation of the landscape surrounding the Units of Preservation PRNP Cafundó.

Os objetivos deste trabalho foi mapear e analisar a estrutura da paisagem florestal em uma área representativa da Bacia do Rio Itapemirim, ES, por meio de índices de ecologia da paisagem. O mapeamento dos fragmentos florestais foi obtido utilizando técnicas de fotointerpretação na escala de 1:1500 do ortofotomosaico do ano 2007. Para o cálculo dos índices de ecologia, foi utilizada a extensão Patch Analyst dentro do aplicativo computacional ArcGIS 9.3. Foram encontrados 3.285 fragmentos florestais em toda a área, representando 17% de cobertura florestal. Os fragmentos mapeados foram divididos em classes de tamanho, sendo fragmentos pequenos aqueles menores que 5 ha; de tamanho médio aqueles entre 5 e 50 ha; e grandes os maiores que 50 ha. Os fragmentos pequenos encontravam-se em maior número (2.236), seguidos pelos fragmentos de tamanho médio (749) e, por último, pelos fragmentos grandes, que compreenderam apenas 100 manchas. O número de fragmentos de cada classe de tamanho possui relação inversa com a contribuição em área dessa classe dentro da fragmentação florestal. As análises quantitativas por meio de métricas da paisagem foram feitas com os grupos de índices de área; densidade e tamanho, forma; proximidade e área central, sendo este último obtido em diferentes simulações de efeito de borda (20,40, 60, 80, 100, 140 e 200 m). Para todos os índices houve diferenciações com relação às classes de tamanho dos fragmentos florestais. A maior parte dos fragmentos florestais da bacia, são pequenos, menores que 5 ha, sendo que a distância de borda de 100 metros elimina completamente a área central desses fragmentos. Apesar dos fragmentos grandes apresentarem os formatos mais irregulares, estes possuem maior índice de área central, mesmo sob o efeito da maior distância de efeito de borda.

The objectives of this study were to map and analyze the structure of forest landscape in a representative area of Itapemirim river basin, ES, through indexes of landscape ecology. The mapping of forest fragments was obtained using image interpretation techniques on a scale of 1:1500 of the ortho-image-mosaic of the year 2007. For the ecology metrics calculation, the extension Patch Analyst was used within the computational application ArcGIS 9.3. In general, 3285 forest fragments were found in all the area, representing 17% of the forest covering. The mapped fragments were divided into size classes, considering as small those fragments smaller than 5 ha, average fragments have size between 5 and 50 ha, and large fragments are larger than 50 ha. The small fragments were found in greater number (2,236), followed by average fragments (749), and finally the large fragments, comprising only 100 spots. The number of fragments of each size class has an inverse relationship with the contribution in area of the same class within the forest fragmentation. Quantitative characterizations through landscape metrics were made with groups of area index, density and size, shape, proximity and central area, which was obtained from different simulations of edge effect (20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 140 and 200 m). For all the indexes there were differences on size classes of forest fragments. Most of the basin forest fragments are small, less than 5 h, and the distance of edge 100 meters completely eliminates the central area of these fragments. Although large fragments present the most irregular shapes, they have a higher index central area even under the effect of the greater distance of the edge effect.

RESUMO Este estudo objetivou avaliar o uso de diferentes metodologias na determinação do uso e ocupação da terra utilizando aerofotos digitais, com resolução espacial de 1 m (cenário 01) e imagens de satélite, com resolução espacial de 0,5 m (cenário 02), fotointerpretadas em tela, na escala cartográfica de 1:2.000, da bacia hidrográfica do córrego Horizonte, Alegre-ES. Utilizaram-se os índices de desempenho global e índice Kappa para determinação do erro médio entre os cenários e teste t a 5 % de probabilidade para avaliar o grau de significância no processo de fotointerpretação entre os cenários 01 e 02. Foram identificadas 27 classes de uso da terra para os cenários 01 e 02. As classes de pastagem (599,62 e 442,43 ha) e fragmento florestal (319,45 e 258,07 ha) respectivamente, ocupando maiores áreas nos dois cenários, compondo 69,80 % para o cenário 01 e 53,04 % para o cenário 02 das áreas totais. Verificou-se uma variação positiva do DG em 6,67 % do cenário 01 em relação ao cenário 02. Entretanto o K demonstra que o cenário 02 possui uma menor taxa entre os erros de omissão e comissão em 2,09 %, não apresentado significância pela análise estatística em nível de 5 % pelo teste t.

ABSTRACT This study evaluated the result of different methodologies in determining the use and occupancy of land using digital aerial photographs with spatial resolution of 1 m (scenario 01) and satellite imagery with a spatial resolution of 0.5 m (scenario 02), photo-interpreted screen, on a scale of 1:2.000 mapping, watershed 'Horizonte' stream, in Alegre, ES state. We used the global performance indices and Kappa index for determining the average error between the sets and t test at 5 % probability to assess the degree of significance in the process of image interpretation between scenarios 01 and 02. We identified 27 classes of land use for scenarios 01 and 02. The classes of pasture (599.62 and 442.43 ha) and forest fragmentation (319.45 and 258.07 ha) respectively, occupying the largest areas in the two scenarios, composing 69.80 % for scenario 01 and 53.04 % for scenario 02 of the total area. There was a positive variation of 6.67 % in the DG scenario in scenarios 01 and 02. However, the K shows that the scenario 02 has a lower rate of errors of omission and commission of 2.09 %, but does not present significance by the statistical analysis presented at 5 % level by t test.

ABSTRACT By mapping the forest from 1970 to 1971 and in 2005, this study evaluated the levels of forest fragmentation in Santa Maria de Jetiba - State of Espirito Santo. To this end, aerial photographs were produced by aerophotography services as follows: Landsat satellite image with 15 m spatial resolution of 2002 in 1970/71 and SPOT satellite with 5 m in 2005. By using different classification techniques, the satellite images were classified and the products were subsequently assessed on field visits. The classification that best adapted to the reality of the municipality studied was considered in an attempt to achieve the best results. After the quantification of the forest areas in the municipality, from the 1970’s until today, it was possible to learn whether there was forest increase or deforestation over these 35 years.

RESUMO Por meio do mapeamento da vegetação a partir da década de 1970, anos de 1970 e 1971, e anos de 2002 e 2005, este trabalho avaliou os níveis de fragmentação da vegetação nativa do município de Santa Maria de Jetibá - ES. Para tanto, utilizaram-se fotografias aéreas produzidas pelos serviços de aerofotogrametria realizados em 1970/71, uma imagem de satélite Landsat 7 com 15 m de resolução espacial do ano de 2002, além de uma imagem de satélite SPOT 5 m do ano de 2005, para melhor visualização do fenômeno em estudo. Por meio de diferentes técnicas de classificação de imagens orbitais, as imagens foram classificadas e os produtos, posteriormente aferidos com visitas de campo, visando comparar as classes de fragmentação da vegetação nativa processadas e as reais. Considerou-se a classificação que melhor se adaptou às realidades do município estudado na tentativa de alcançar os melhores resultados. Após a quantificação das áreas de mata no município, desde a década de 1970 até atualmente, foi possível saber se houve incremento florestal ou desmatamento nesses 35 anos propostos.

Devido à necessidade de estudos atuais sobre as Áreas de Preservação Permanentes (APPs) para o município de Alegre-ES, propõem-se, neste estudo, demonstrar como a utilização de Geotecnologias pode ajudar de forma eficaz o mapeamento dessas áreas, auxiliando no entendimento das áreas a serem preservadas no município. O estudo foi realizado em todo o município de Alegre,ES, com o objetivo de elaborar mapas analógicos e digitais do município, com o auxílio de Geotecnologias; delimitar as Áreas de Preservação Permanente na ótica da Legislação Ambiental e ressaltar a importância de identificar as áreas de forma automática para que se possam implantar projetos ambientais que visem a promover ações em busca de um relacionamento sustentável entre homem e ambiente de forma mais eficiente. O município de Alegre possui uma área de 336,39 km² de APPs totais (43,50% da área total do município). A metodologia adotada para delimitação automática das APPs foi eficiente, revelando que as mesmas , ao redor de nascentes (buffer de 50 m), nas encostas com declividade superior a 45 graus, topo de morro (terço superior de morros) e margens dos cursos d'água (buffer de 30 m) representaram respectivamente 9,86 km² (1,27%), 8,99 km² (1,16%), 237,35 km² (30,69%) e 95,11 km² (12,30%) da área total do município.

Due to the need of current studies on the Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs) for the county of Alegre - ES, it is proposed in this study to demonstrate how the use of Geotechnologies can help in an effective way to map those areas, helping to understand the areas to be preserved in the county. The study was accomplished in the whole county of Alegre - ES which objectives were: a) to elaborate analogical and digital maps of the county, with the aid of Geotechnologies; b) to delimit the Areas of Permanent Preservation in the optics of the Environmental Legislation and c) to emphasize the importance of identifying the areas in an automatic way so that it can implant environmental projects that seek to promote actions in search of a maintainable relationship between man and environment in a more efficient way. The county of Alegre has an area of 336,39 km² of APPs (43,50% of the total area of the county). The methodology for automatic delimitation of APPs was efficient, indicating that the same, around of spring (buffer of 50 m), in the hillsides with steepness superior to 45 degrees, hill top (superior third of hills) and margins of the courses of water (buffer of 30 m) they acted respectively 9,86 km² (1,27%), 8,99 km² (1,16%), 237,35 km² (30,69%) and 95,11 km² (12,30%) of the total area of the county.
