Este estudo teve o objetivo de observar a morfologia da interface dente-restauração de diferentes sistemas adesivos em cavidades MOD, por microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). A hipótese do estudo foi de que a morfologia da interface adesiva poderia variar nas diferentes regiões da cavidade MOD, para algum dos 3 sistemas adesivos estudados. Preparos tipo MOD foram confeccionados em 12 terceiros molares humanos hígidos e restaurados com resina composta Filtek Z250 e os seguintes sistemas adesivos: ABF (n=4), Clearfil SE Bond (n=4) (sistemas adesivos autocondicionantes) e Single Bond (n=4) (sistema adesivo de condicionamento ácido total). Após 24 h de armazenamento em água destilada a 37ºC, os dentes foram secionados e preparados para MEV. A morfologia da interface de união variou com o sistema adesivo e com a região analisada. A hipótese do estudo foi aceita, pois a morfologia da interface de união refletiu as características do substrato dental e dos sistemas adesivos testados.

The purpose of this study was to assess the morphological characteristics of the tooth/adhesive interface using different adhesive systems in MOD restorations under scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The tested hypothesis was that the morphology of the bonding interface would vary in different areas of MOD restorations for the three adhesive systems. MOD cavities were prepared in 12 sound extracted human third molars and restored with Filtek Z250 composite resin and one of the following adhesive systems: Experimental ABF (n=4), Clearfil SE Bond (n=4) self-etching primers and Single Bond etch-and-rinse adhesive system (n=4). After 24-h storage in distilled water at 37ºC, teeth were sectioned and prepared for SEM. The interfacial morphology varied depending on the adhesive system and also on the evaluated area. The null hypothesis was accepted because the morphology of the tooth/adhesive interface reflected the characteristics of both the dental substrate and the adhesive systems.

Purpose: To evaluate the microtensile bond strength (µTBS) to dentin of 4 adhesive systems, the micromorphology of the adhesive/dentin interface and to compare the results to the µTS (cohesive strength) of sound dentin and resin composite. Occlusal surfaces of 24 extracted caries-free human molars were cut flat to expose the dentin surface. They were randomly assigned to 4 groups (n = 6): Adper Scotchbond Multi Purpose Plus (MP), Adper Single Bond (SB), Clearfil Protect Bond (CP) and Adper Prompt (AP). Adhesive systems were applied and "crowns" were built using Z100. Other 5 human molars were sectioned to obtain square-shaped dentin blocks and 5 resin blocks were built using a composite resin, Z100. After storage in distilled water at 37 °C for 24 h, stick-shaped specimens were obtained for all groups (n = 5) with 0.8 mm² and subjected to µTBS or µTS test. Results were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA and Tukey's test at p < 0.05. The remaining bonded teeth were cut in two halves perpendicularly to the bonded interface and prepared for SEM analyses. No significant differences were found among CP (45.6 + 7.4 MPa), SB (43.3 + 6.5 MPa) and MP (35.1 + 5.9 MPa) (p > 0.05). The lowest result was found for AP (27.4 + 4.7 MPa), although not statistically different from MP. Most specimens (89.4%) showed predominant adhesive failure. None of the systems tested reached the µTS values of dentin (108.5 + 9.4 MPa) and Z100 (86.5 + 3.6 MPa). Bonded interfaces showed lower µTBS than those µTS of dentin and resin composite blocks. The all-in-one self-etching adhesive had the lowest µTBS.

As pesquisas relacionadas com adesão à dentina, em virtude da ampla aplicabilidade, são de grande interesse para a Odontologia. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar, através de ensaios de tração, a resistência adesiva ao substrato dentinário, em função de dois sistemas adesivos (3M e Kerr), dois níveis de rugosidade do substrato dentinário (lixas 220 e 600), duas áreas de colagem (3,14 mm2 - 12,56 mm2), e duas condições de armazenagem (inicial e final). A análise dos resultados evidenciou que: 1) houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os dois sistemas adesivos, sendo que o da Kerr apresentou os valores mais elevados de resistência adesiva; 2) diferenças significativas não ficaram evidentes na resistência da adesão entre os dois níveis de rugosidade dentinária; 3) as colagens em áreas menores apresentaram, em nível altamente significativo, maior resistência adesiva; 4) a condição de armazenagem influiu nos resultados dependendo da área e do sistema adesivo.

There is a wealthy literature on bonding strength of composites to dentine. One of the reasons for the large number of studies is the continuous introduction of new bonding agents in combination with accumulated knowledge about the dentine substrate conditions. The aim of the present study was to compare the "in vitro" tensile bond strengths of two dentine bonding systems (3M and Kerr) applied to different dentine roughness (220 and 600 grit)and two sizes of bonding areas (3,14 mm2 and 12,56 mm2). Different storage conditions (initial and final) were also considered. One hundred and sixty human teeth were randomly allocated in 4 groups. The Kerr system groups and the smallest bonding area groups showed the highest tensile strengths. The storage condition and the substrate roughness did not display a significant influence on bond strengths.

Este estudo avaliou, in vitro, a microinfiltração na interface selante/esmalte sob a influência de contaminação do meio (saliva), emprego de "primer" (Tenure - Den-Mat) e tipo de selante (Concise Light Cured White Sealant - 3M; Fluroshield - Caulk/Dentsply). Os resultados foram obtidos a partir de medidas lineares, utilizando um sistema computadorizado de imagens digitalizadas (IMAGE PLUS). Pôde-se concluir que a contaminação salivar e a utilização de "primer" atuaram de maneira diversa nas diferentes etapas do procedimento clínico; os selantes comportaram-se de maneira semelhante quando submetidos às mesmas condições; o emprego do "primer" favoreceu o escoamento do selante Fluroshield (Caulk/Dentsply) nos sulcos e pôde ser observado maior número de bolhas com esse material.

This in vitro study investigated the effect of different types of sealants (Concise Light Cured White Sealant - 3M; Fluroshield - Caulk/Dentsply) and the use of primer (Tenure - Den-Mat) on the microleakage of saliva-contaminated enamel. Sealants were placed on 360 surfaces (occlusal, buccal and lingual) of extracted teeth free of caries. After being prepared according to each experimental group, they were thermocycled (5 and 55ºC) for 500 and 2.000 cycles. Then they were immersed in a silver nitrate solution (50%) and cut in longitudinal slices. The results were described in linear measurements (mm) by means of a digital-image analysis system. Contamination and use of primer had different influences when subjected to the different experimental conditions. Both sealants had the same influence on microleakage. Flow of Fluroshield into pit and fissures was improved by use of the primer, and a greater amount of bubbles could be observed in this material.
