ABSTRACT This study aims at describing and comparing the prevalence of bullying behaviours and the perspective of victims, bystanders, and aggressors in team, individual, and combat sports. The survey involved 664 athletes of both genders (13–18 years old) from sports school and federated of several sports (team n= 451, individual n= 173, combat n= 40), who filled in the Prevention of Violence in Sport Questionnaire. The prevalence of bullying (victims, bullies, and bystanders) was 26.7% in team sports; 19.1% in individual sports, and 23.1% in combat. Through the Chi-square test, it was verified that there were no significant differences between different sports in what concerns the prevalence of bullying behaviours; neither was there a difference in the perspective of victims, bystanders, and aggressors. The percentage was bigger in victims (7.7%) and bystanders (17.4%) in combat sports, and aggressors (3.3%) in team sports. There are not aggressors in combat sports. Further studies are needed in order to achieve a deeper knowledge of the problem and plan strategies to prevent this sort of behaviour.

O objectivo deste estudo foi identificar as motivações dos espectadores de basquetebol e o seu perfil sociodemográfico. Recolheram-se 459 questionários em oito jogos dos play-offs 2008 da Liga de Clubes de Basquetebol em Portugal e através duma análise factorial identificou-se que o sentimento de pertença à equipa e cidade, escape, família, conhecimento do jogo, apreciar as habilidades técnicas dos jogadores, interesse nos jogadores e drama são os motivos mais importantes. Na análise sociodemográfica verificou-se uma grande variabilidade entre espectadores de acordo com a idade, género, habilitações literárias, agregado familiar, rendimentos, proximidade geográfica, número de acompanhantes e prática de basquetebol.

This study aimed to identify people's motives to attend basketball games and their socio-demographics characteristics. A total of 459 questionnaires were answered within eight play-off matches at the Liga de Clubes de Basquetebol 2008 championship and through a factor analysis it was possible to identify that belonging to city and team, escape, family, knowledge of the game, physical skills, interest in player and drama are the most important motives. The demographics analysis suggests diversity in spectators according to age, gender, education level, household, income, geographical proximity, companion and basketball experience.

El objeto de este estudio fue identificar las motivaciones de los espectadores de baloncesto y su perfil sociodemográfico. Se recogieron 459 cuestionarios en ocho partidos de los play-offs 2008 de la Liga de Clubs de Baloncesto en Portugal y a través de una análisis factorial se concluye que las motivaciones más importantes para acudir a las canchas son el sentimiento de pertenencia al equipo y a la ciudad, el escape, la familia, el conocimiento del juego, el disfrute de las habilidades técnicas de jugadores, el interés por los jugadores y el drama. En el análisis sociodemográfico, se comprueba una gran variabilidad entre el público en función de la edad, género, educación, la unidad familiar, las rentas, proximidad geográfica, número de acompañantes y práctica del baloncesto.

O objetivo do presente estudo consistiu no reconhecimento das necessidades de formação das competências profissionais de treinadores de Futebol em função dos anos de experiência profissional e da formação federativa. A amostra foi constituída por 81 treinadores portugueses. A recolha dos dados foi realizada através da aplicação de um questionário após validação de construção e de conteúdo. Como procedimentos estatísticos, recorremos ao teste paramétrico One-Way ANOVA para a comparação entre dois grupos e para mais de dois grupos foram estimados os Post-Hocs com recurso ao teste de Tukey. Os resultados mostraram que os treinadores com formação federativa mais elevada, níveis II e III, reconhecem menores necessidades de formação que os treinadores sem formação nas áreas do Treino, Competição e Papel de Formador. Por sua vez, os treinadores mais experientes reconheceram menores necessidades de formação nos domínios do Treino, da Gestão Desportiva e do Papel de Formador em relação aos menos experientes.

The aim of the present study consisted in the recognition of Football coaches' perceptions of training needs related to the professional competences according to their experience and level of certification, as coach. A sample of 81 Portuguese coaches answered a questionnaire applied after its construction and content validation. The statistical procedure used was One-Way ANOVA to make comparison between two groups and the Tukey' test for post-hoc comparisons. The results showed that the coaches with the highest level of certification, levels II and III, recognized lower training needs than coaches without certification in the areas of Training, Competition and Coach Education. Moreover, the more experienced coaches recognized, also, lower training needs than less experienced coaches in the areas of Training, Sport Management and Coach Education.
