Abstract This study aimed to analyze the profile and level of satisfaction of users served in the dental specialty for patients with special healthcare needs (SHCN), based on the Brazilian Program for Improving Access and Quality (“PMAQ”) of the Centers for Dental Specialties (“CEO”). This observational, quantitative study used a national secondary database in the public domain. Data were analyzed using the chi-squared test with Bonferroni correction, Student’s t-test, and log-linear Poisson regression. Most users of the specialty “SHCN” interviewed were female (74.1% in 2014 and 68.8% in 2018), with a mean age of 41.7 (2014) and 44.9 (2018) years. For every 100 respondents who considered it regular or bad, 171 considered it good, and 199 considered it very good. Regarding satisfaction with the host of the “CEO,” there were differences between the regions of Brazil (Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, and South). There has been an increase in the number of “CEO” that serve users with autism spectrum disorder. Generally, the “CEO” network provides humanized and welcoming services, presenting better performance in the second evaluation cycle, according to user perception. ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Some maternal characteristics are related to alcohol intake during pregnancy, which irreversibly compromises the maternal-fetal binomial integrity. OBJECTIVES: To identify the frequency, impact, and factors associated with alcohol consumption during pregnancy. DESIGN AND SETTING: A cross-sectional study was performed at the Hospital Materno Infantil Presidente Vargas (HMIPV) in Porto Alegre/RS between March and December 2016. METHODS: A structured questionnaire was administered along with a medical records review. They refer to the maternal sociodemographic and gestational status, alcohol consumption patterns, and characteristics of the fetus/newborn. In the statistical analysis, P values < 0.05 were considered significant. RESULTS: The frequency of alcohol intake was 37.3%; this was characterized by the consumption of fermented beverages (89.3%), especially during the first trimester (79.6%). Risky consumption (high and/or early) occurred for 30.2% of participants. Risk factors associated with maternal alcohol consumption during pregnancy were tobacco use (P < 0.001) and abortion attempt (P = 0.023). Living with a partner (P = 0.002) and planning pregnancy (P = 0.009) were protective factors. Risky consumption was related to all of the aforementioned variables as well as threatened abortion (P = 0.023). CONCLUSIONS: Alcohol intake during pregnancy is common and affects nearly one-third of pregnant women. Knowledge of the population at risk and protective factors is essential for the development of campaigns that seek to reduce consumption and, therefore, its consequences for the mother and fetus. ABSTRACT Sympathetic ophthalmia is a rare and potentially devastating bilateral diffuse granulomatous panuveitis. It is caused by surgical or non-surgical eye injuries and is an uncommon and serious complication of trauma. It is diagnosed clinically and supported by imaging examinations such as ocular ultrasonography and optical coherence tomography. Its treatment consists of immunosuppressive therapy with steroids and sometimes steroid-sparing drugs, such as cyclosporine, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, and mycophenolate mofetil. Fast and effective management with systemic immunosuppressive agents allows for disease control and achievement of good visual acuity in the sympathizing eye. By contrast, enucleation should be considered only in situations where the injured eye has no light perception or in the presence of severe trauma. RESUMO A oftalmia simpática consiste em uma panuveíte granulomatosa bilateral rara e potencialmente devastadora, ocorrendo geralmente após trauma ocular cirúrgico ou não cirúrgico. O diagnóstico é baseado em aspectos clínicos e apoiado por exames de imagem, como ultrassonografia ocular e tomografia de coerência óptica. O tratamento consiste em terapia imunossupressora com esteróides e, eventualmente, drogas poupadoras de esteróides, como ciclosporina, azatioprina, ciclofosfamida e micofonato de mofetila. O manejo rápido e eficaz com agentes imunossupressores sistêmicos permite o controle da doença e a obtenção de boa acuidade visual no olho simpatizante. Resumo O objetivo foi verificar a tendência de desigualdade na realização de mamografia de acordo com a posse de plano de saúde e escolaridade a partir de dados do período de 2011 a 2020 do VIGITEL. Estudo de base populacional com dados provenientes do Sistema de Vigilância de Fatores de Risco e Proteção para Doenças Crônicas por Inquérito Telefônico (VIGITEL) entre 2011 e 2020. Desfecho: exame de mamografia nos últimos dois anos em mulheres de 50 a 69 anos. A magnitude das desigualdades do desfecho em relação às exposições (plano de saúde e escolaridade) foi estimada por meio de dois índices: slope index of inequality (SII) e concentration index (CIX). A prevalência de cobertura da realização de mamografia (2011-2020) passou de 74,4% para 78,0%, com tendência estável. As prevalências de quem possuía plano de saúde foram 85,7% e 86,4%, e de quem não possuía, 63,4% e 71,2%, com tendência crescente. De acordo com a escolaridade, em mulheres com 0-8 anos de estudo a prevalência passou de 68,2% para 72,6%; 9-11 anos, de 80,4% para 80,0% (tendência decrescente); 12 anos ou mais, de 88,0% para 86,6% (tendência decrescente). Abstract The objective was to verify the trend of inequality in the realization of mammography exam according to the possession of health insurance plan and schooling from data from the period 2011 to 2020 of VIGITEL. Population-based study with data from the Surveillance System of Risk and Protection Factors for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey (VIGITEL) between 2011 and 2020. Outcome: mammography exam in the last 2 years in women aged 50 to 69 years. The magnitude of inequalities of outcome in relation to exposures (health insurance plan and education) was estimated using two indices: inequality slope index (SII) and concentration index (CIX). The prevalence of mammography exam (2011-2020) increased from 74,4% to 78,0%, with a stable trend. The prevalence of those with health insurance plan were 85,7% and 86,4%, and without 63.4% and 71.2%, with an increasing trend. According to education, women with 0-8 years of schooling the prevalence increased from 68,2% to 72,6%, 9-11 years from 80,4% to 80,0% (decreasing trend), 12 years or more 88,0% to 86,6% (decreasing trend). AIM: to describe the methodology used in the study, the sample and the prevalence of symptoms in the acute phase of the infection according to socioeconomic variables. METHODS: cross-sectional study carried out in Rio Grande with individuals infected with covid-19 from December 2020 to March 2021. Nineteen symptoms present during the acute phase of the infection were investigated and analyzed, separately and in categories of “0-4”, “5-9” and “10 or more”, according to gender, age and economic class. RESULTS: 2,919 people were part of the sample. The most prevalent symptoms were fatigue (73.7%), headache (67.2%), loss of taste (65.9%), loss of smell (63.9%) and muscle pain (62.3% ). Regarding the occurrence of symptoms stratified by gender, all symptoms, except productive cough, were statistically higher in females. Regarding age, it was found that headache, pain/discomfort to breathe, loss of taste, loss of smell, fatigue, sore throat, nasal congestion, diarrhea, joint pain and muscle pain were statistically higher among adults (18 -59 years). As for economic class, the prevalence of symptoms of shortness of breath, pain/discomfort in breathing, alteration in sensitivity and joint pain showed a linear increase with the reduction in economic class. CONCLUSION: the results of this study made it possible to identify the most frequent symptoms in the acute phase of covid-19 and their distribution in groups, providing data for the implementation of public policies by managers and support for health professionals in assisting this population.

OBJETIVO: descrever a metodologia utilizada no estudo, a amostra e a prevalência dos sintomas da fase aguda da infecção de acordo com variáveis socioeconômicas. MÉTODOS: estudo transversal realizado em Rio Grande com indivíduos infectados pela covid-19 no período de dezembro de 2020 a março de 2021. Foram investigados 19 sintomas presentes durante a fase aguda da infecção e analisados, em separado e em categorias de “0-4”, “5-9” e “10 ou mais”, de acordo com sexo, idade e classe econômica. RESULTADOS: 2.919 pessoas fizeram parte da amostra. Os sintomas mais prevalentes foram fadiga (73,7%), dor de cabeça (67,2%), perda de paladar (65,9%), perda de olfato (63,9%) e dores musculares (62,3%). Com relação a ocorrência de sintomas estratificado por sexo, todos os sintomas, exceto tosse produtiva, foram estatisticamente maiores no sexo feminino. Referente à idade, verificou-se que dor de cabeça, dor/desconforto para respirar, perda de paladar, perda de olfato, fadiga, dor de garganta, congestão nasal, diarreia, dores articulares e dores musculares foram estatisticamente maiores entre os adultos (18-59 anos). Quanto a classe econômica, a prevalência dos sintomas falta de ar, dor/desconforto para respirar, alteração de sensibilidade e dores articulares apresentaram aumento linear conforme a redução da classe econômica. CONCLUSÃO: os resultados deste estudo permitiram identificar os sintomas mais frequentes na fase aguda da covid-19 e sua distribuição nos grupos, fornecendo dados para implementação de políticas públicas pelos gestores e respaldo para os profissionais de saúde na assistência a essa população.

Resumen: La mayoría de los supervivientes de la COVID-19 relató síntomas persistentes tras la infección, también conocida como COVID largo. Brasil fue un epicentro de la pandemia de COVID-19, así, se espera una alta carga de COVID largo. El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar la prevalencia y los factores asociados con la COVID largo en adultos en el Sur de Brasil. Se analizaron datos de la cohorte PAMPA. Los participantes rellenaron un cuestionario en línea autoadministrado en junio de 2022. Solo se incluyeron los participantes que dieron positivo para COVID-19. La COVID largo fue definida como cualquier síntoma que persistió durante al menos tres meses tras la infección del SARS-CoV-2. Se utilizaron los modelos de regresión de Poisson con varianza robusta para identificar factores asociados con el COVID largo; se relataron los resultados como razón de prevalencia (RP) y sus respectivos intervalos de 95% confianza de 95% (IC95%). En total, se analizaron 1.001 participantes (el 77,4% mujeres, edad media [DP] = 38,3 [11,9] años). La prevalencia del COVID largo fue del 77,4% (IC95%: 74,7; 79,9). La probabilidad del COVID largo fue más alta en participantes no vacunados (RP = 1,23, IC95%: 1,06; 1,42), personas con condiciones crónicas (RP = 1,13, IC95%: 1,04; 1,24) y pacientes hospitalizados debido a la infección por COVID-19 (RP = 1,24, IC95%: 1,16; 1,32) en comparación con sus contrapartes. Resumo: A maior parte dos sobreviventes da COVID-19 relatou sintomas persistentes após a infecção, também conhecida como COVID longa. O Brasil foi um epicentro da pandemia de COVID-19, logo, espera-se uma alta carga de COVID longa. Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar a prevalência e os fatores associados à COVID longa em adultos no Sul do Brasil. Foram analisados dados da coorte PAMPA. Os participantes preencheram um questionário online autoaplicável em junho de 2022. Foram incluídos apenas os participantes que testaram positivo para COVID-19. A COVID longa foi definida como qualquer sintoma que persistiu por pelo menos três meses após a infecção do SARS-CoV-2. Os modelos de regressão de Poisson com variância robusta foram usados para identificar fatores associados à COVID longa; os resultados foram relatados como razão de prevalência (RP) e seus respectivos intervalos de 95% de confiança (IC95%). Ao todo, 1.001 participantes (77,4% mulheres, idade média [DP] = 38,3 [11,9] anos) foram analisados. A prevalência da COVID longa foi de 77,4% (IC95%: 74,7; 79,9). Abstract: Most COVID-19 survivors have reported experiencing persistent symptoms after the infection - these types of cases are known as long COVID. Since Brazil was an epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, a high burden of long COVID is expected. This study aimed to identify the prevalence and factors associated with long COVID in adults in Southern Brazil, analyzing data from the PAMPA cohort. Participants filled out a self-reported online questionnaire in June 2022. This study only included subjects who tested positive for COVID-19. Long COVID was defined by any symptoms that persisted for at least three months after the SARS-CoV-2 infection. Poisson’s regression models with robust variance were used to identify factors associated with long COVID; and results were reported as prevalence ratios (PR) and respective 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). It was found that three out of four adults in Southern Brazil experienced long COVID. Public policies aiming to reduce the burden of long COVID must be prioritized, especially in groups that are at higher risk of developing this harmful condition. This report describes the fabrication of a low-cost magnetic separator holder combining 3D printing and compact neodymium blocks for allowing magnetic extraction and purification of RNA from samples collected by nasopharyngeal swab from patients infected by SARS-CoV-2. The device was designed to contain 24 entrances for plastic microtubes in an arrangement like a commercial device. The proof of concept of the proposed device was successfully demonstrated through the sample extraction and purification of swab samples collected from eight patients suspected of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The sample preparation protocol was performed using a commercial kit containing magnetic beads and different solutions. The performance of the printed device was compared to a commercial magnetic separator, usually employed in the golden standard techniques. The fabrication of the 3D printed magnetic separator was completed under optimized printing conditions within 6 h at cost of 4 USD per unit. The RNA extracted from samples using both devices was analyzed by reverse transcriptase quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and the achieved results have indicated no statistical different at confidence level of 95%. ABSTRACT Introduction Oncohematological patients require the evaluation for possible infiltration of the central nervous system (CNS) by neoplastic cells at diagnosis and/or during the monitoring of the chemotherapeutic treatment. Morphological analysis using conventional microscopy is considered the method of choice to evaluate the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples, despite technical limitations. Objective This study aimed to compare the performance of the cytomorphology and flow cytometric immunophenotyping (FC) in the detection of CNS infiltration. Method We evaluated 520 CSF samples collected from 287 oncohematological patients for whom the detection of neoplastic cells was simultaneously requested by cytomorphology and FC. Results Laboratory analyses revealed 435/520 (83.7%) conclusive results by the two methods evaluated, among which 385 (88.5%) were concordant. Discordance between the methods was observed in 50/435 (11.5%) samples, 45 (90%) being positive by FC. Furthermore, the FC defined the results in 69/72 (95.8%) inconclusive samples by cytomorphology. The positivity of FC was particularly higher among hypocellular samples. Among 431 samples with a cell count of < 5/μL, the FC identified neoplastic cells in 75 (17.4%), while the cytomorphology reported positive results in 26 (6%). Among the samples that presented adequate cell recovery for evaluation by both methods (506/520), the comparative analysis between FC and cytomorphology revealed a Kappa coefficient of 0.45 (CI: 0.37-0.52), interpreted as a moderate agreement. ABSTRACT Objective To analyze the karyotype test and myeloid panel with next-generation sequencing findings in patients with myelofibrosis, and to compare transplant characteristics in patients referred for bone marrow transplantation. Methods Retrospective, single-center study with patients diagnosed with myelofibrosis treated at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein between 2010 and 2020. Results A total of 104 patients with myelofibrosis were examined. Patients who had not been submitted to tests in our service were excluded. The final sample comprised 69 patients. Of these 69, 56 were submitted to karyotyping and 22 to myeloid panel with next-generation sequencing. Karyotype was normal in 60% of the patients and altered in 40%. The prevalence of high-risk molecular mutations was higher in patients referred for bone marrow transplantation (100% versus 50%). The median follow-up of transplant patients was 2.4 years and the overall survival at 2 years was 80% (95%CI: 62-100%). Conclusion The molecular analysis enables estimating the patient’s risk and thus instituting more aggressive treatment such as bone marrow transplant for patients at higher risk, being a relevant tool to guide therapy. Resumo O objetivo foi verificar a tendência de desigualdade na realização de mamografia de acordo com a posse de plano de saúde e escolaridade a partir de dados do período de 2011 a 2020 do VIGITEL. Estudo de base populacional com dados provenientes do Sistema de Vigilância de Fatores de Risco e Proteção para Doenças Crônicas por Inquérito Telefônico (VIGITEL) entre 2011 e 2020. Desfecho: exame de mamografia nos últimos dois anos em mulheres de 50 a 69 anos. A magnitude das desigualdades do desfecho em relação às exposições (plano de saúde e escolaridade) foi estimada por meio de dois índices: slope index of inequality (SII) e concentration index (CIX). A prevalência de cobertura da realização de mamografia (2011-2020) passou de 74,4% para 78,0%, com tendência estável. As prevalências de quem possuía plano de saúde foram 85,7% e 86,4%, e de quem não possuía, 63,4% e 71,2%, com tendência crescente. De acordo com a escolaridade, em mulheres com 0-8 anos de estudo a prevalência passou de 68,2% para 72,6%; 9-11 anos, de 80,4% para 80,0% (tendência decrescente); 12 anos ou mais, de 88,0% para 86,6% (tendência decrescente). Quanto aos índices de desigualdade absoluta (SII) e relativa (CIX) da escolaridade e plano de saúde, mostram que há uma diminuição na desigualdade nos últimos dez anos.

Abstract The objective was to verify the trend of inequality in the realization of mammography exam according to the possession of health insurance plan and schooling from data from the period 2011 to 2020 of VIGITEL. Population-based study with data from the Surveillance System of Risk and Protection Factors for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey (VIGITEL) between 2011 and 2020. Outcome: mammography exam in the last 2 years in women aged 50 to 69 years. The magnitude of inequalities of outcome in relation to exposures (health insurance plan and education) was estimated using two indices: inequality slope index (SII) and concentration index (CIX). The prevalence of mammography exam (2011-2020) increased from 74,4% to 78,0%, with a stable trend. The prevalence of those with health insurance plan were 85,7% and 86,4%, and without 63.4% and 71.2%, with an increasing trend. According to education, women with 0-8 years of schooling the prevalence increased from 68,2% to 72,6%, 9-11 years from 80,4% to 80,0% (decreasing trend), 12 years or more 88,0% to 86,6% (decreasing trend). As for the absolute (SII) and relative (CIX) inequality indices of schooling and health insurance plan show that there is a decrease in inequality over the last 10 years.

Resumen: La mayoría de los supervivientes de la COVID-19 relató síntomas persistentes tras la infección, también conocida como COVID largo. Brasil fue un epicentro de la pandemia de COVID-19, así, se espera una alta carga de COVID largo. El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar la prevalencia y los factores asociados con la COVID largo en adultos en el Sur de Brasil. Se analizaron datos de la cohorte PAMPA. Los participantes rellenaron un cuestionario en línea autoadministrado en junio de 2022. Solo se incluyeron los participantes que dieron positivo para COVID-19. La COVID largo fue definida como cualquier síntoma que persistió durante al menos tres meses tras la infección del SARS-CoV-2. Se utilizaron los modelos de regresión de Poisson con varianza robusta para identificar factores asociados con el COVID largo; se relataron los resultados como razón de prevalencia (RP) y sus respectivos intervalos de 95% confianza de 95% (IC95%). En total, se analizaron 1.001 participantes (el 77,4% mujeres, edad media [DP] = 38,3 [11,9] años). La prevalencia del COVID largo fue del 77,4% (IC95%: 74,7; 79,9). La probabilidad del COVID largo fue más alta en participantes no vacunados (RP = 1,23, IC95%: 1,06; 1,42), personas con condiciones crónicas (RP = 1,13, IC95%: 1,04; 1,24) y pacientes hospitalizados debido a la infección por COVID-19 (RP = 1,24, IC95%: 1,16; 1,32) en comparación con sus contrapartes. La prevalencia fue más alta en mujeres (RP = 1,21, IC95%: 1,09; 1,33) que en hombres. La actividad física se asoció con la probabilidad reducida de fatiga, complicaciones neurológicas, tos y dolor de cabeza como síntomas persistentes tras la infección por COVID-19. Abstract: Most COVID-19 survivors have reported experiencing persistent symptoms after the infection - these types of cases are known as long COVID. Since Brazil was an epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, a high burden of long COVID is expected. RESUMO: Descreve-se, através de levantamento epidemiológico e avaliação clínico-patológica, a ocorrência de hematúria enzoótica (HE) em búfalos no Brasil. Essa condição, causada pela ingestão da planta radiomimética Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum, conhecida popularmente como “samambaia” ou “samambaia do campo”, até então não havia sido descrita nessa espécie no Brasil. Na Região Sudeste, a HE bovina é responsável por elevadas perdas econômicas, devidas não apenas aos óbitos, mas também em função da queda de produtividade. No município de São José do Barreiro/SP, alguns produtores de áreas com alta incidência de HE bovina, vêm substituindo os bovinos por búfalos, com base na premissa de que estes seriam mais resistentes à intoxicação. Embora, de acordo com observações iniciais, os búfalos realmente sejam menos sensíveis que os bovinos ao princípio tóxico de Pteridium spp., ainda assim, tem-se verificado a ocorrência de casos de hematúria nessa espécie. De acordo com o levantamento inicial, a HE só ocorre em búfalos com idade a partir de seis anos. Ao exame macroscópico, verificou-se a mucosa da bexiga espessa, com múltiplos focos de lesões ulceradas, exofíticas, papiliformes, verrucosas, pedunculadas. Histologicamente, foram observadas alterações neoplásicas e não neoplásicas semelhantes às descritas nos bovinos com HE. Entre as neoplasias foram encontrados papiloma, carcinoma in situ, carcinoma urotelial (baixo e alto grau), variantes invertida, microcística e trabecular, carcinoma urotelial com diferenciação divergente (escamosa e glandular), carcinoma de células escamosas, linfangioma, hemangioma e hemangiossarcoma. Ocorreu também coexistência entre neoplasias epiteliais e mesenquimais. Não foram detectadas partículas de papilomavírus bovino pelo teste PCR nas amostras de bexiga analisadas.

ABSTRACT: It is reported the occurrence of enzootic hematuria (EH) in buffaloes in Brazil after performing an epidemiological survey and clinicopathological analises. To date, EH caused by ingestion of Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum, a radiomimetic plant popularly known as “bracken fern”, has not been described in this species in Brazil. Bovine EH is responsible for high economic losses in Brazil’s Southeast Region not only because of the deaths it causes, but also owing to its negative effect on productivity. In São José do Barreiro County, São Paulo, some farmers in areas with a high incidence of bovine EH have been replacing cattle with buffaloes, based on the premise that the latter would be more resistant to poisoning by ingestion of Pteridium spp. However, even though initial observations indicated that buffaloes are indeed less sensitive than cattle to the toxic principle of Pteridium spp., cases of hematuria in this species have been reported. According to preliminary date, EH only occurs in buffaloes over six years of age. Macroscopic examination revealed a thickened urinary vesicle mucosa, along with multiple foci of ulcerated, exophytic, verrucous, and pedunculated lesions. In one of the buffaloes studied, the bladder wall was ruptured and exhibited marked secondary inflammation. Histologically, neoplastic and non-neoplastic changes similar to those described in cattle poisoned by Pteridium spp. were observed. The neoplasms found included papilloma, carcinoma in situ, urothelial carcinoma (low and high grade), inverted, microcystic, and trabecular variants, urothelial carcinoma with divergent differentiation (squamous and glandular), squamous cell carcinoma, lymphangioma, hemangioma, and hemangiosarcoma. There was also coexistence of epithelial and mesenchymal neoplasms. Bovine papillomavirus particles were not detected by polymerase chain reaction in the bladder samples analyzed.

Resumo Com a utilização generalizada de testes pré-natais não invasivos (TPNIs), uma crescente porção de mulheres tem acesso ao sexo cromossômico fetal, o que aumenta o potencial para identificar discordância sexual pré-natal. O diagnóstico pré-natal da síndrome de insensibilidade androgénica é um achado incidental e raro. Pretendemos apresentar um caso índice de diagnóstico pré-natal por meio de DNA fetal livre e incompatibilidade entre sexo fetal e fenótipo ecográfico. Neste caso particular, a análise molecular do gene do receptor de andrógenios (RA) revelou a presença de uma mutação patogênica, não relatada anteriormente, consistente com a síndrome de insensibilidade completa aos androgênios. A mãe revelou ser portadora da mesma variante, confirmando a hereditariedade hemizigótica. A identificação da base genética permite o diagnóstico pré-implantação ou pré-natal em futuras gestações.

Abstract With the widespread uptake of noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT), a larger cohort of women has access to fetal chromosomal sex, which increases the potential to identify prenatal sex discordance. The prenatal diagnosis of androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS) is an incidental and rare finding. We wish to present the diagnosis of a prenatal index case after NIPT of cell-free fetal DNA and mismatch between fetal sex and ultrasound phenotype. In this particular case, the molecular analysis of the androgen receptor (AR) gene showed the presence of a pathogenic mutation, not previously reported, consistent with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome. Carrier testing for the mother revealed the presence of the same variant, confirming maternal hemizygous inheritance. Identification of the molecular basis of these genetic conditions enables the preimplantation or prenatal diagnosis in future pregnancies.
