RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: A presença de sensibilização central (SC) em pessoas com dor cervical crônica carece de esclarecimentos, bem como as possíveis disparidades entre os sexos. Portanto, objetivou-se avaliar a presença de SC na dor cervical crônica de acordo com o sexo. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal com a participação de 260 adultos (18-59 anos) com dor cervical crônica, realizado entre setembro de 2022 e setembro de 2023. Foram aplicados instrumentos para coletar perfil sociodemográfico, características da dor, incapacidade funcional da cervical e presença de SC. Para análises comparativas foi utilizado o SPSS 23.0. RESULTADOS: Nas disparidades entre os sexos, não houve diferenças na intensidade da dor e incapacidade funcional cervical (p=0,134 e p=0,277, respectivamente). No entanto, a SC foi mais elevada nas mulheres (43,5 ± 14,0; p=0,003). No sexo feminino, a SC apresentou relação com a "interferência da dor" nos aspectos: caminhar (r=0,311; p=0,001), relacionamento interpessoal (r=0,309; p=0,001), apreciação da vida (r=0,321; p=0,001) e com incapacidade funcional da cervical (r=0,570; p=0,001). Já no sexo masculino, a SC teve relação com a "interferência da dor" em aspectos como atividade geral (r=0,311; p=0,008), humor (r=0,376; p=0,001), caminhar (r=0,313; p=0,007), relacionamento interpessoal (r=0,477; p=0,001), sono (r=0,321; p=0,006), apreciação da vida (r=0,427 p=0,001) e incapacidade funcional (r=0,667; p<0,001). CONCLUSÃO: Mulheres com dor cervical crônica mostraram maior presença da SC, enquanto nos homens a SC esteve relacionada a uma variedade de aspectos que afetam negativamente a vida. Diante disso, as diferenças entre os sexos poderiam ser consideradas no gerenciamento de pacientes com dor cervical crônica. ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The presence of central sensitization (CS) in people with chronic neck pain requires clarification, as does the possible disparities between genders. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the presence of CS in chronic neck pain according to gender. METHODS: Cross-sectional study with the participation of 260 adults (18-59 years old) with chronic neck pain, carried out between September 2022 and September 2023. Instruments were applied to collect sociodemographic profile, pain characteristics, cervical functional disability and presence of SC. The software SPSS 23.0 was used for comparative analyzes. RESULTS: Regarding disparities between genders, there were no differences in the intensity of pain and cervical functional disability (p=0.134 and p=0.277, respectively). Resumo Introdução A disfunção temporomandibular (DTM) afeta a saúde e qualidade de vida. Embora o Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC) avalie a condição, não aborda a incapacidade. Assim, a Classificação Internacional de Funcionalidade (CIF) se torna essencial para a avaliação da incapacidade, sendo necessária sua brevidade através de checklists específicos para DTM. Objetivo Elaborar um checklist baseado na CIF e avaliar a funcionalidade de indiví-duos com DTM. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo piloto transversal realizado na Universidade de Fortaleza, em 2016, com pacientes de 20 a 50 anos com DTM. O checklist integrou os aspectos clínicos do RDC com as categorias da CIF. Um comitê de juízes, composto por profissionais de odontologia, fisioterapia e fonoaudiologia familiarizados com a CIF, foi selecionado pelo método Delphi. Análises estatísticas incluíram o teste de Mann-Whitney para comparações entre grupos e o de Wilcoxon para comparações intragrupos, adotando um nível de significância de 5%. Resultados Foram sele-cionados 34 componentes de função, 8 de estrutura do corpo, 36 de atividade e participação e 15 de aspectos ambientais. Após análise especializada, permaneceram 31, 8, 28 e 15 componentes, respectivamente. Participa-ram 19 pacientes, principalmente mulheres (89,5%; n = 17), com prevalência de dor miofascial pelo RDC/TMD. O instrumento revelou deficiências leves a moderadas em funções do corpo e dificuldades em atividades so-ciais e de trabalho. Fatores ambientais no constructo faci-litador incluíram medicamentos e apoio profissional, e a falta de apoio familiar no constructo barreira. Abstract Introduction Temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) affects health and quality of life. Although the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC) assesses the condition, it does not address dis-ability. Thus, the International Classification of Functio-ning (ICF) becomes essential for the assessment of dis-ability, requiring its brevity through specific checklists for TMD. Objective To develop an ICF-based checklist and evaluate the functionality of individuals with TMD. Methods: This is a cross-sectional pilot study carried out at the University of Fortaleza in 2016, with patients aged 20 to 50 years with TMD. The checklist integrated the clinical aspects of the RDC with the ICF categories. A committee of judges, composed of dentistry, physio-therapy and speech therapy professionals familiar with the ICF, was selected by the Delphi method. Statistical analyses included the Mann-Whitney test for comparisons between groups and the Wilcoxon test for intragroup comparisons, adopting a significance level of 5%. Results Thirty-four components of function, eight of body structure, 36 of activity and participation, and 15 of environmental aspects were selected. After expert analysis, 31, 8, 28, and 15 components remained, re-spectively. Nineteen patients participated, mainly women (89.5%; n = 17) with prevalence of myofascial pain according to the RDC/TMD. The instrument revealed mild to moderate impairments in body functions and difficulties in social and work activities. Environmental factors in the facilitating construct included medications and professional support, and lack of family support in the barrier construct. Conclusion The ICF-based checklist provides detailed information on the functions and structures affected by TMD, as well as on the activities and participation interfered with and the barriers and facilitators that patients have due to their condition. Resumo Introdução Considerada um dos distúrbios neurovas-culares mais comuns entre estudantes universitários, a cefaleia gera impacto na qualidade de vida. Além disso, o estresse e a fadiga podem desencadear e/ou intensificar as dores de cabeça. Objetivo Investigar a relação entre fadiga e estresse em estudantes universitários com cefaleia. Métodos Participaram 147 discentes, na faixa etária de 18 a 44 anos, independente do sexo, regularmente matriculados na Universidade de Fortaleza. Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionário elaborado pelos pesquisadores e por instrumentos validados para o diagnóstico de cefaleia, sendo o impacto mensurado pelo HIT-6 ( Headache Impact Test ), a avaliação da fadiga por meio da Escala de gravidade da fadiga (EGF) e a qualidade de vida através do SF-36. Os dados foram analisados pelo programa SPSS 20.0, utilizando-se o teste de qui-quadrado para analisar a associação entre as variáveis. Adotou-se nível de significância de 5%. Resultados A queixa de dor de cabeça esteve presente em 70,7% da amostra (n = 104), sendo mais predominante a cefaleia secundária (63,5%, n = 66), no sexo feminino (79,8%, n = 83), com média de idade de 21,7 ± 4,0 anos. A intensidade moderada da dor de cabeça foi relatada por 60,6% (n = 63), destacando-se o impacto desta dor como muito grave em 68,3% (n = 71) dos participantes. Constatou-se que os estudantes com cefaleia apresentaram mais sintomas de estresse (30,5 ± 7,6; p < 0,004) e fadiga (4,0 ± 1,4; p < 0,040). Conclusão Encontrou-se um número expressivo de casos de cefaleia, principalmente no sexo feminino, relacionados a sintomas de estresse e fadiga, gerando impacto na qualidade de vida desses universitários.

Abstract Introduction Considered one of the most common neurovascular disorders among university students, headache has an impact on quality of life. In addition, stress and fatigue can trigger and/or intensify headaches. Objective To investigate the relationship between fatigue and stress in university students with headache. Methods One hundred and forty-seven students aged between 18 and 44 years, regardless of gender, and regularly enrolled at the Universidade de Fortaleza participated in the study. Data were collected through a questionnaire developed by the researchers and through validated instruments for the diagnosis of headache, the impact being measured by the HIT-6 (Headache Impact Test), the assessment of fatigue using the Fatigue Severity Scale (FGS), and quality of life through the SF-36. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 program, using the chi-square test to analyze the association between the variables. A significance level of 5% was adopted. Results Headache complaints were present in 70.7% of the sample (n = 104), with secondary headache being more predominant (63.5%, n = 66), in females (79.8%,n = 83), with a mean age of 21.7 ± 4.0 years. The moderate intensity of the headache was reported by 60.6% (n = 63), highlighting the impact of this pain as very severe in 68.3% (n = 71) of the participants. Students with headache had more symptoms of stress (30.5 ± 7.6; p < 0.004) and fatigue (4.0 ± 1.4; p < 0.040). Conclusion An expressive number of headache cases was found, mainly in females, related to symptoms of stress and fatigue, impacting the quality of life of these university students.

Resumo Introdução Ocorrendo de forma branda e não invasiva, a terapia craniossacral é uma técnica de manipulação na qual o terapeuta exerce leve pressão sobre estrutura óssea, sendo utilizada como tratamento para diversos problemas de saúde, como cefaleias e DTM. Objetivo Analisar os efeitos da terapia craniossacral em indivíduos com disfunção temporomandibular associada a cefaleia do tipo tensional. Material e método Estudo descritivo, intervencionista com abordagem quantitativa, realizado no núcleo de atenção médica integrado, no período de fevereiro a setembro de 2018. Foram inclusos no estudo indivíduos com disfunção temporomandibular e que apresentaram cefaleia dentre os sintomas. Foram exclusos aqueles que não compareceram ao atendimento ou não apresentaram a sintomatologia. Previamente, foi realizada uma avaliação para identificar a dor na crise de cefaleia, a mensuração da amplitude de movimento mandibular e a palpação dos músculos da mastigação, para classificar a dor em leve, moderada ou forte. Após oito atendimentos, sendo duas vezes por semana com duração de 15 minutos cada, todos foram reavaliados. Resultado Participaram do estudo 31 indivíduos, sendo 90,3% do sexo feminino. Na classificação do RDC/TMD, houve prevalência dos grupos G1 e G1G3. Quanto a mobilidade mandibular, houve ganho para os movimentos de abertura, com 45,6 mm (±7,5) antes da terapia e, na reavaliação, 47,4 mm (±8,4); desvios laterais antes da terapia (lado direito – 7,0 ±2,8) e (lado esquerdo – 7,7±3,0), e após a terapia (8,0±3,0) e (8,6±2,9), respectivamente; o movimento de protusão, antes com média 5,03 ±2,5 e, na reavaliação, com 4,8 ±1,9. Na palpação muscular, destacamos redução do quadro álgico no músculo pterigoideo medial com média 2,2 (±1,05) antes da terapia e 1,5 (±1,02) após a terapia. Conclusão Concluímos que a terapia se mostrou eficaz no tratamento de pacientes com disfunção temporomandibular associada a cefaleia do tipo tensional.

Abstract Introduction Occurring in a mild and non-invasive way, craniosacra therapy is a manipulation technique that the therapist exerts light pressure on the bone structure, being used as a treatment for several health problems, such as headaches and TMD. Objective To analyze the effects of craniosacra therapy in individuals with temporomandibular disorders associated with tension-type headache. Material and method Descriptive, interventional study with a quantitative approach, carried out in the integrated medical care center from February to September 2018. Individuals with temporomandibular disorder and who presented headache among the symptoms were included in the study. And those who did not attend the service or did not present symptoms were excluded. Previously, an assessment was carried out to identify pain during headache attacks, measurement of mandibular range of motion and palpation of mastication muscles, to quantify pain as mild, moderate and severe. After 8 consultations, twice a week lasting 15 minutes each, all were reassessed. Result 31 individuals participated in the study, being 90.3% female. In the classification of the RDC/TMD, there was a prevalence of groups G1 and G1G3. Regarding mandibular mobility, there was a gain for opening movements with 45.6mm (±7.5) before therapy and 47.4mm (±8.4) in the reassessment; lateral deviations before therapy (right side - 7.0 ±2.8) and (left side - 7.7±3.0) and after (8.0±3.0) and (8.6±2.9); and the protrusion movement before with an average of 5.03 ± 2.5 and in the reassessment with 4.8 ± 1.9. And in muscle palpation, we highlight a reduction in pain in the medial pterygoid muscle with a mean of 2.2 (±1.05) before therapy and 1.5 (±1.02) after. Conclusion We conclude that the therapy has been shown to be effective in treating patients with temporomandibular disorders associated with tension-type headache.
