ABSTRACT Adjuvants mayimprove control efficiency of volunteer RR® corn with ACCase inhibiting herbicides. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of adjuvant addition to the herbicides clethodim and quizalofop, on surface tension, spray deposition and efficiency of volunteer RR® corn control. The surface tension of clethodim (96 g a.i. ha-1) and quizalofop (60 g a.i. ha-1) herbicides with and without a mineral oil, a vegetable oil and an organosilicon adjuvant was evaluated at concentrations of 0.01; 0.05; 0.1; 0.5; 1.0 and 2.0% v v-1. To evaluate deposition and visual control efficiency, the same herbicides associated or not with the mineral oil (0.5% v v-1), the vegetable oil (0.5% v v-1) and the organosilicon adjuvant (0, 05% v v-1) were used. For this, volunteer RR® corn plants were grown in a greenhouse until stage V2-V3. The adjuvants reduced the surface tension of the herbicides clethodim and quizalofop, organosilicon was the most efficient. Adjuvants does not alter spray deposition of herbicides on corn plants. Mineral oil increases potential control of clethodim herbicide and anticipates control with quizalofop herbicide.

RESUMO: Formulações comerciais e adjuvantes adicionados à mistura em tanque podem resultar em mudanças na superfície de molhamento, absorção foliar e eficácia dos herbicidas. Assim, objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a influência das formulações de glifosato e adjuvantes sobre o ângulo de contato (CA), absorção, metabolismo e controle do capim-amargoso, além de investigar os danos ocasionados pelas soluções herbicidas à microestrutura cuticular dessa espécie daninha. Para tanto, ensaios foram conduzidos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, e os tratamentos distribuídos em esquema fatorial 2x5+1, com cinco repetições. Duas formulações de glifosato (SL e WG) combinadas ou não com os adjuvantes éster metílico de óleo de soja (MSO), óleo mineral (MO), alquil ester etoxilado (EAE) e polioxietilenoalquilfenoléter (PAE); e um controle (água) foram avaliados. As medidas de CA das gotas depositadas na superfície foliar de capim-amargoso e na superfície padrão (parafilme) foram obtidas usando um tensiômetro. A absorção do herbicida e o acúmulo de chiquimato foram determinados, simultaneamente, por cromatografia e espectrometria de massas. O efeito de controle foi avaliado pela observação da sobrevivência da planta e redução do peso seco. As formulações de glifosato SL e WG apresentaram efeitos similares sobre as variáveis analisadas. Contudo, os adjuvantes EAE, MO e MSO, quando em mistura ao herbicida, em ambas as formulações, destacaram-se por apresentar maior molhabilidade e danos mais severos à microestrutura cuticular, favorecendo a absorção do glifosato e acúmulo de chiquimato. Apesar das evidências sobre a bioeficácia dos tratamentos que continham óleos/surfactantes, o controle sobre capim-amargoso foi similar. A combinação das formulações de glifosato com tais adjuvantes são potencialmente mais eficazes e garantem controle satisfatório do capim-amargoso.

ABSTRACT: The addition of commercial formulations and adjuvants to a tank mix may result in differences in the wettability on the plant surface, foliar uptake and herbicide efficacy. Thus, the objectives of this study were to evaluate the influence of glyphosate formulations and tank-mixture adjuvants on the contact angle (CA), uptake, metabolism and sourgrass control and the damage to the cuticular microstructure of this species caused by herbicide solutions. For this purpose, assays were carried out in a completely randomized design, and treatments distributed in a 2x5+1 factorial scheme with five replications. Two glyphosate formulations isopropylamine salt (SL) and ammonium salt (WG) combined or not with the adjuvant methylated soybean oil (MSO), mineral oil (MO), ethoxylated alkyl ester (EAE) or polyoxyethylenealkylphenol ether (PAE); and one control (water) were evaluated. CA measurements of the droplets deposited on a sourgrass leaf surface and on the standard surface (parafilm) were obtained using a tensiometer. Herbicide uptake and shikimate accumulation were simultaneously determined by chromatography and spectrometry. The control effect was assessed by observing plant survival dry weight reductions. The glyphosate SL and WG formulations had similar effects on the variables analyzed. However, mixing the adjuvants EAE, MO or MSO with either formulation of herbicide led to greater wettability and more severe damage to the cuticular microstructure, favoring glyphosate uptake and shikimate accumulation. Despite evidence regarding the treatments containing oils/surfactants, the control effect on sourgrass was similar. The combination of glyphosate formulations with such adjuvants is potentially more effective and guarantees satisfactory sourgrass control.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a tecnologia de aplicação e a compatibilidade do baculovírus SfMNPV-6nd com surfatantes e marcadores na mortalidade de larvas de segundo instar de Spodoptera frugiperda. Os estudos de compatibilidade foram realizados com os marcadores corante azul brilhante (AB) e oxicloreto de cobre (OC) e com os surfatantes heptametiltrisiloxano óxido de polialquileno (HP) e alquilfenol etoxilado (AE) misturados ao inseticida biológico SfMNPV-6nd. Avaliou-se a dispersão de gotas por meio da pulverização de solução de SfMNPV-6nd em plantas de milho, com uso de pontas de jato plano e cônico vazio. Os parâmetros avaliados foram: depósito da pulverização, diâmetro mediano volumétrico (DMV), tamanho de gotas, pH da solução e mortalidade de larvas de segundo instar de S. frugiperda. Os surfactantes HP e AE apresentam sinergismo com SfMNPV-6nd e aumentam o controle de S. frugiperda. A adição dos surfactantes AE e OC na solução de SfMNPV-6nd reduz os valores de pH. Densidade de gotas, DMV, depósitos da pulverização da solução de SfMNPV-6nd e mortalidade de larvas de segundo instar não diferem entre os tratamentos, independentemente do tipo de ponta utilizado.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the application technology and the compatibility of the SfMNPV-6nd baculovirus with surfactants and markers in the mortality of Spodoptera frugiperda second-instar larvae. The compatibility studies were carried out with the brilliant blue (BB) dye and copper oxychloride (CO) markers and with the polyalkylene oxide heptamethyltrisiloxane (PH) and ethoxylated alkylphenol (EA) surfactants mixed with the SfMNPV-6nd biological insecticide. Droplet dispersion was assessed by spraying a SfMNPV-6nd solution on corn plants using flat fan and hollow cone nozzles. The evaluated parameters were: spray deposits, volumetric median diameter (VMD), droplet size, pH of spray solution, and mortality of second-instar S. frugiperda larvae. The PH and EA surfactants present synergism with SfMNPV-6nd and increase S. frugiperda control. The addition of the EA and CO surfactants to the SfMNPV-6nd solution reduces pH values. Droplet density, VMD, spray deposition of the SfMNPV-6nd solution, and mortality of S. frugiperda second-instar larvae do not differ among treatments regardless of the type of nozzle used.

RESUMO Novas tecnologias têm sido desenvolvidas para promover a aplicação de produtos fitossanitários de modo uniforme, sustentável, seguro e eficaz. Nesse contexto, pontas de pulverização com diferentes desenhos e ângulos do jato podem otimizar a aplicação. Assim, o objetivo foi avaliar o efeito de pontas de jato plano angulado sobre a uniformidade de distribuição da pulverização e formação do espectro de gotas. A distribuição volumétrica da pulverização de pontas de jato plano padrão, jato plano duplo e da nova ponta de jato plano angulado foram avaliadas em duas taxas de aplicação. Para isso, o padrão de distribuição da pulverização e o coeficiente de variação (CV) foram determinados. A caracterização do espectro de gotas nos tratamentos foi conduzida em medidor de tamanho de partículas em tempo real. Também foi avaliado o efeito da adição de mistura fungicida associada a um adjuvante na formação das gotas. Todas as pontas de pulverização, independente do desenho e da taxa de aplicação, produziram valores de CV abaixo de 7%, considerados aceitáveis nos padrões internacionais de uniformidade. Houve diferença no padrão de distribuição em função do tipo de ponta de pulverização e taxa de aplicação. Foi evidenciado que as maiores diferenças encontradas no espectro de gotas ocorreram devido ao tipo de ponta de pulverização, mistura de calda e vazão nominal, com pouca influência da angulação do jato ou taxa de aplicação.

ABSTRACT New technologies have been developed to promote uniform, sustainable, safe and effective application of phytosanitary products. In this scenario, spray nozzles of different designs and jet angles can optimize application. Therefore, we aimed to analyze the effect of angled flat fan spray nozzles on spray pattern uniformity and droplet spectrum formation. The spray volumetric distribution of standard flat fan, double flat fan and the new angled flat fan spray nozzle, using two spray volumes were assessed. For that, the spray pattern distribution and the coefficient of variation (CV) were determined. The droplet spectrum characterization produced by the same treatments was performed in a real-time particle size analyzer. Also the effect of adding a fungicide mixture associated with an adjuvant on droplet formation was evaluated. All spray nozzles, regardless of design and spray volumes evaluated, produced CV values below 7%, considered acceptable by international uniformity standards. There was a difference in spray pattern according to the spray nozzle design and spray volume. It was evidenced that the main differences found in droplet spectrum occurred due to spray nozzle type, spray mixture and nominal flow rate, with little influence of spray jet angled or spray volumes.

Resumo: O tratamento químico de sementes é uma prática que auxilia no controle de pragas e patógenos, além de possibilitar à cultura atingir seu potencial máximo de produção. No entanto, o tempo de armazenamento de sementes tratadas com inseticidas e fungicidas pode influenciar sobre o potencial fisiológico das sementes. Assim, esse trabalho objetivou avaliar a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de soja tratadas com fungicidas e inseticidas, sob quatro períodos de armazenamento. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado e os tratamentos distribuídos no esquema fatorial 10 x 4, onde sementes de soja da cultivar BMX Potência RR foram tratadas com os seguintes produtos fitossanitários: fipronil + piraclostrobina + tiofanato-metílico, tiofanato-metílico, carbendazin, carboxina + tiram, imidacloprid + thiodicarb, clorantraniliprole, tiametoxam, ciantraniliprole, fipronil e testemunha (sementes sem tratamento químico), em quatro repetições. As avaliações foram realizadas com 0, 30, 60 e 90 dias após o tratamento. Foram realizados testes de germinação, primeira contagem do teste de germinação, envelhecimento acelerado, emergência de plântulas em canteiro, velocidade de emergência de plântulas e massa de matéria seca de plântulas. O tratamento com a mistura fungicida carboxina + tiram proporcionou adequada qualidade fisiológica das sementes ao longo do armazenamento. O inseticida tiametoxam tem efeito negativo na qualidade fisiológica das sementes de soja quando armazenadas.

Abstract: Chemical seed treatment is a practice that assists in control of pests and pathogens and allows crops to achieve their maximum yield potential. However, the storage period of seeds treated with insecticides and fungicides can affect seed physiological potential. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological quality of soybean seeds treated with different fungicides and insecticides after four different storage periods. The experimental design was completely randomized and the treatments were distributed in a 10 × 4 factorial arrangement in which the soybean seeds of the cultivar BMX Potência RR were treated with the following phytosanitary products: fipronil + pyraclostrobin + thiophanate-methyl, thiophanate-methyl, carbendazim, carboxin + thiram, imidacloprid + thiodicarb, chlorantraniliprole, thiamethoxam, cyantraniliprole, fipronil, and a control (seeds without chemical treatment), in four replications. The seeds were evaluated at 0, 30, 60, and 90 days after the chemical treatment. The following tests were performed: germination, first count of germination, accelerated aging, seedling emergence in sand, seedling emergence speed, and seedling dry matter. The treatment with the carboxin + thiram fungicide mixture provided for adequate physiological quality of the seeds throughout storage. The insecticide thiamethoxam has a negative effect on the physiological quality of soybean seeds that are stored after treatment with it.

ABSTRACT. The density and distribution of soybean plants can interfere in the plant growth stage and yield, as well as phytosanitary management of this crop. Thus, innovations in production systems must be followed by improvements in pesticide application technology. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the influence of soybean sowing arrangements on fungicide application technology, with or without air assistance in the spray boom, using qualitative and quantitative assessments of the spray deposits. In the experiments, a randomized block design with split plots was used. Four soybean sowing arrangements: Conventional (CO), Double row (DR), Narrow row (NR), and Crossed rows (CR) composed the main plots, and fungicide application technologies with air assistance (AA) and without air assistance (WA) in the spray boom composed the subplots, with four replications. For the assessment of spray deposits, Brilliant Blue tracer dye was used in the spray solution, and the spray coverage was evaluated using water-sensitive papers. The effects of different soybean sowing arrangements on deposits and spray coverage were limited. However, an increase in spray deposits on the lower part of the soybean plants was observed with air assistance in the spray boom.

RESUMO A lagarta-do-cartucho é um dos principais insetos-praga no Brasil. Assim, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o efeito do tratamento de sementes no controle de Spodoptera frugiperda nas infestações iniciais da cultura da soja. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, com quatro amostras replicadas de seis tratamentos inseticidas aplicados via tratamento de sementes: imidacloprida mais tiodicarbe na dose de 52,5 mais 105 g i.a. (ingrediente ativo) 100 kg-1 de sementes (Cropstar® 0,350 L 100 kg-1 de sementes); tiametoxam a 105 g i.a. 100 kg-1 de sementes (Cruiser 350 FS® 0,3 L 100 kg-1 de sementes); clorantraniliprole a 62,5 g i.a. 100 kg-1 de sementes (Dermacor® 0,1 L 100 kg-1 de sementes); ciantraniliprole a 120 g i.a. 100 kg-1 de sementes (Fortenza 600 FS® 0,2 L 100 kg-1 de sementes); fipronil mais piraclostrobina e tio-fanato-metílico 50 + 5 + 45 g i.a. 100 kg-1 de sementes (Standak Top® 0,2 L 100 kg-1 de sementes) e um tratamento controle. O experimento foi conduzido em uma vegetação. Dentre todos os tratamentos, os inseticidas do grupo químico das diamidas (clorantraniliprole e ciantraniliprole) apresentaram os melhores resultados, com consumo inferior pelas lagartas das folhas tratadas e maior eficiência de controle deste inseto. Foi constatado que o tratamento de sementes é uma alternativa viável para o controle de S. frugiperda no início do desenvolvimento da cultura, quando a lagarta apresenta o comportamento de cortar as plântulas e/ou consumir área foliar, ocasionando uma redução da população de plantas e uma consequente perda de produtividade.

ABSTRACT Fall armyworm is one of the main insect pests in Brazil. Thus, the present work aimed to evaluate the seed treatment effect on the control of Spodoptera frugiperda in initial infestations of soybean crops. The experimental design was completely randomized with four replicates of six insecticide treatments applied through seed treatment: imidacloprid plus thiodicarb at the dose of 52.5 plus 105 g a.i. (active ingredient) 100 kg-1 of seed (Cropstar® 0.350 L 100 kg-1 of seed); thiamethoxam at 105 g a.i. 100 kg-1 of seed (Cruiser 350 FS® 0.3 L 100 kg-1 of seed); chlorantraniliprole at 62.5 g a.i. 100 kg-1 of seed (Dermacor® 0.1 L 100 kg-1 of seed); cyantraniliprole at 120 g a.i. 100 kg-1 of seed (Fortenza 600 FS® 0.2 L 100 kg-1 of seed); fipronil plus pyraclostrobin and thiophanate-methyl 50 + 5 + 45 g a.i. 100 kg-1 of seed (Standak Top® 0.2 L 100 kg-1 of seed), and a control treatment. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse. Diamide insecticides (chlorantraniliprole and cyantraniliprole) presented the best results among all treatments, with lower consumption of the treated leaves by the caterpillars and greater control efficacy of this insect. We verified that seed treatment is a viable alternative for controlling S. frugiperda at the beginning of crop development, when the caterpillar presents the behavior of cutting the seedlings and/or the consumption of leaf area, causing a reduction in the plant population and a consequent yield loss.

RESUMO O tratamento de sementes é um processo que auxilia no controle de insetos e patógenos iniciais, além de possibilitar à cultura atingir seu potencial máximo de produção e promover proteção à plântula. Objetivou-se avaliar o desempenho fisiológico de sementes e o desenvolvimento inicial de plantas de soja, em função do tratamento de sementes. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com cinco tratamentos [imidacloprid + thiodicarb (75 + 225 g i.a. 100 kg-1 de sementes); chlorantraniliprole (62,5 g i.a. 100 kg-1 de sementes); cyantraniliprole (72 g i.a. 100 kg-1 de sementes); fipronil + thiophanate-methyl + pyraclostrobin (5 + 45 + 50 g i.a. 100 kg-1 de sementes); e testemunha (sementes sem tratamento)]. Inicialmente, foi avaliada a qualidade fisiológica das sementes, por meio de primeira contagem de germinação, germinação final e envelhecimento acelerado, com quatro repetições. Posteriormente, foi avaliado o efeito do tratamento de sementes no desenvolvimento inicial das plantas de soja, por meio de análise da área foliar, número de folhas, comprimento da parte aérea, massa seca de raiz e parte aérea e massa fresca de nódulos, em dez repetições. O tratamento com fipronil + pyraclostrobin + thiophanate-methyl proporciona maior germinação em sementes submetidas ao teste de envelhecimento acelerado, além de incremento no comprimento da parte aérea e área foliar das plantas.

ABSTRACT Seed treatment is a process that helps to control insects and soil-borne pathogens, besides allowing a given crop to reach its maximum production potential and protect its seedlings. This study aimed to evaluate the physiological performance of seeds and the initial development of soybean, as a function of seed treatment. The study was based on a completely randomized design, with five treatments [imidacloprid + thiodicarb (75 + 225 g a.i. 100 kg-1 of seeds); chlorantraniliprole (62.5 g a.i. 100 kg-1 of seeds); cyantraniliprole (72 g a.i. 100 kg-1 of seeds), fipronil + thiophanate-methyl + pyraclostrobin (5 + 45 + 50 g a.i. 100 kg-1 of seeds); and control (seeds without treatment)]. Initially, the physiological quality of the seeds was evaluated by determining the first germination count, final germination and accelerated aging, with four replications. After that, the effect of the seed treatment on the soybean plant development was evaluated by analyzing the leaf area, number of leaves, shoot height, root and shoot dry mass and fresh mass of root nodules, with ten replications. The seed treatment with fipronil + pyraclostrobin + thiophanate-methyl allows an increased germination when the seeds are subjected to the accelerated aging test, besides an increment in the shoot height and leaf area of the plants.

ABSTRACT: Improved spray deposition can be attained by electrostatically charging spray droplets, which increases the attraction of droplets to plants and decreases operator exposure to pesticide and losses to the environment. However, this technique alone is not sufficient to achieve desirable penetration of the spray solution into the crop canopy; thus, air assistance can be added to the electrostatic spraying to further improve spray deposition. This study was conducted to compare different spraying technologies on spray deposition and two-spotted spider mite control in cut chrysanthemum. Treatments included in the study were: conventional TJ 8003 double flat fan nozzles, conventional TXVK-3 hollow cone nozzles, semi-stationary motorized jet launched spray with electrostatic spray system (ESS) and air assistance (AA), and semi-stationary motorized jet launched spray with AA only (no ESS). To evaluate the effect of these spraying technologies on the control of two-spotted spider mite, a control treatment was included that did not receive an acaricide application. The AA spraying technology, with or without ESS, optimized spray deposition and provided satisfactory two-spotted spider mite control up to 4 days after application.

RESUMO O Estado da Bahia é o maior produtor nacional de pinha (Annona squamosa L.), porém a ocorrência da broca-do-fruto, Cerconota anonella L., limita e compromete a produção. O trabalho teve por objetivos avaliar a eficiência do inseticida lambda-cialotrina no controle da broca-do-fruto com diferentes volumes de calda, bem como aspectos qualitativos e quantitativos da pulverização. Os estudos foram conduzidos em pomar comercial de pinha localizado em Caraíbas, BA. A eficiência do inseticida foi avaliada em experimento conduzido em blocos ao acaso com seis tratamentos e cinco repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram na pulverização do inseticida lambda-cialotrina (1,5 g de i.a.100 L-1 de água), com adição de espalhante adesivo a 0,03% v v-1 nos volumes de calda de 100, 200, 268, 382 e 488 L ha-1 e testemunha (sem pulverização). A infestação da praga foi avaliada por meio da contagem do número de frutos com sintomas de ataque para posterior cálculo da porcentagem de frutos brocados. Na avaliação da pulverização, o experimento constou de cinco tratamentos e cinco repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram de solução aquosa contendo o marcador Azul Brilhante a 0,15% (p v-1) e espalhante adesivo a 0,03% (v v-1) nos mesmos volumes de calda utilizados no primeiro experimento. As avaliações qualitativas foram em papel hidrossensível e a quantitativa pelos níveis dos depósitos do marcador nas folhas. O inseticida lambda-cialotrina, aplicado em volumes entre 100 e 382 L ha-1, é eficiente para controle de Cerconota anonella em pinha, proporcionando boa qualidade das pulverizações.

ABSTRACT In Brazil, the state of Bahia is one of the largest pinecone (Annona squamosa L.) growers; nevertheless, fruit borer (Cerconota anonella L.) presence limits production. This research aimed to test the efficiency of lambda-cyhalothrin in controlling fruit borer using different spray volumes; additionally, this research tested qualitative and quantitative operational aspects. Trials were carried out in pinecone orchards in Caraíbas-BA, Brazil. Pesticide efficiency was tested by a randomized block experiment with six treatments and five replications. Treatments consisted of lambda-cyhalothrin application (1.5 g a.i. 100 L-1 water) with a surfactant (0.03% v v-1) at spray volumes of 100, 200, 268, 382 and 488 L ha-1 and one control (without spray). Pest infestation was assessed by counting symptomatic fruits for further percentage calculation. Five treatments with five replications were developed to evaluate spraying performance. These treatments consisted of an aqueous solution with a Brilliant Blue tracer at 0.15% (p v-1) and a surfactant at 0.03% (v v-1), using the same spray volumes as the first experiment. Qualitative assessments were performed on water-sensitive paper cards and were quantified through tracer deposit levels on leaves. Spray volumes between 100 and 382 L ha-1 with lambda-cyhalothrin were efficient to control Cerconota anonella in the pinecone crop, providing good quality application.

RESUMO: A pinta preta ou mancha preta em citros (MPC) está entre as mais importantes doenças da citricultura brasileira. O trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a interferência de três volumes de pulverização na deposição da calda em frutos cítricos e o efeito do crescimento dos frutos e da precipitação pluviométrica na redução dos depósitos, durante o período de controle da doença. O experimento foi conduzido em pomar comercial com 16 anos, da variedade Valencia, na região de Mogi Guaçu, SP. Os tratamentos consistiram dos volumes de 3,5 (1333L ha-1); 4,5 (1714L ha-1) e 8,5 (3238L ha-1) L planta-1, aplicados por um pulverizador de arrasto com jato transportado, utilizando fungicidas nos períodos recomendados para controle da doença. A quantificação dos depósitos/resíduos foi por espectrofotometria, usando oxicloreto de cobre como traçador. Os frutos foram coletados em três alturas da planta, na região entre plantas da linha de plantio. Os depósitos foram significativamente inferiores na primeira aplicação, como consequência do tamanho reduzido do fruto. As perdas dos depósitos médios de calda, por dia de chuva, variaram de 4,0 a 5,7%. Não ocorreram diferenças significativas entre volumes de aplicação quanto à deposição sobre os frutos, possibilitando a redução de volumes, contudo, torna-se necessário melhorar as técnicas de aplicação na parte superior da planta.

ABSTRACT: Citrus black spot (CBS) caused by Guignardia citricarpa is one of the most serious Brazilian citrus diseases. This study aims to assess the interference of three application volumes in spray deposition citrus fruit, as well as fruit growth and rainfall effects on spray deposit reduction during the CBS control period. The experiment was carried out in a commercial citrus orchard, with sixteen-year-old trees of the Valencia variety, in Mogi Guaçu, São Paulo State, Brazil. The spray volumes were: 3.5 (1333L ha-1), 4.5 (1714L ha-1) and 8.5 (3238L ha-1) litres per tree, sprayed by an airblast sprayer using fungicides at recommended periods for disease control. The spray deposition quantification and residue was done by spectrophotometry using a copper oxychloride tracer. Samples were collected in three height zones of the tree (top, middle and bottom) and placed between trees on line plantation. Spray depositions were significantly smaller in the first application as a consequence of reduced fruit size. The spray losses on average for each day of rainfall ranged from 4.0 to 5.7%. There was no significant difference between application volumes regarding spray deposition on citrus fruit,which makes possible the reduction of application volumes, however, it is necessary to improve spraying techniques for the top zone of the citrus tree.

As doenças foliares e da espiga podem reduzir acentuadamente a produtividade da cultura do trigo. Apesar de prevalecer o controle químico no manejo das doenças, os estudos com adjuvantes para melhoria do desempenho de fungicidas ainda são incipientes. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da adição de adjuvantes aos fungicidas no controle químico de doenças foliares e da espiga, bem como sobre os componentes de rendimento da cultura do trigo. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados, com 05 tratamentos: testemunha (sem aplicação de fungicidas na parte aérea); somente fungicidas na parte aérea; fungicidas + adjuvante a base de óleo essencial de laranja; fungicidas + adjuvante a base de lecitina e ácido propiônico; fungicidas + adjuvantes a base de óleo essencial de laranja+ adjuvante a base de lecitina e ácido propiônico, em 04 repetições. Os tratamentos foram aplicados nas safras agrícolas de 2011 (04 aplicações de fungicidas) e 2012 (05 aplicações de fungicidas). As variáveis avaliadas foram incidência e severidade de doenças, componentes de rendimento e retorno econômico. Na safra de 2011, a adição de adjuvantes à calda de pulverização interferiu no desempenho dos fungicidas e afetou significativamente a severidade de doenças, o número de grãos por espigas, produtividade e o retorno econômico com a cultivar Supera(r). Em 2012, a adição de adjuvante à calda fungicida também influenciou o desempenho dos fungicidas; sendo de forma significativa a severidade de doenças na cv. Tbio Itaipu(r). Quanto maior o investimento na cultura do trigo e elevação do número de aplicação de fungicidas, menor o impacto do adjuvante na tecnologia de aplicação.

The foliar diseases and spike can markedly reduce the yield of wheat. Despite prevailing chemical control in the management of disease, studies with adjuvants to improve the performance of fungicides are still incipient. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding adjuvants to chemical fungicides to control leaf diseases and spike, as well as on the yield of wheat crop. The experimental design was a randomized block design with 05 treatments: control (no fungicide application in the shoot); fungicides only in shoots; fungicides + adjuvant base of orange essential oil; fungicides + lecithin-based adjuvant and acid propionic; fungicides + adjuvant base of orange essential oil+ lecithin-based adjuvant and acid propionic, in 04 repetitions. The treatments were applied during the harvests of 2011 (04 fungicide applications) and 2012 (05 fungicide applications).The variables assessed were incidence and severity of diseases, yield components and economic return. In the 2011 harvest the addition of adjuvants in the spray syrup affect the performance of the fungicides the, the number of grains per spike, yield and economic return with the Supera(c) variety. In 2012 the addition of adjuvant to the fungicide influenced the severity of disease, especially using Tbio Itaipu(c) variety. The higher the investment in wheat and increase the number of fungicide application, the smaller the impact of the adjuvant in the spray technology.

O controle químico do agente causal da mancha-preta-dos-citros (MPC) tem merecido destaque pelo excessivo número de pulverizações, elevando sobremaneira os custos de produção na citricultura. A busca por melhorias na eficiência das pulverizações e reduções na quantidade dos produtos fitossanitários já tem sido realizada, mas os resultados dessa prática ainda não são consistentes para que possa ser aplicado em escala comercial. Sendo assim, essa pesquisa objetivou avaliar a interferência da redução no volume de aplicação, sobre o controle químico da mancha preta em frutos cítricos. O experimento foi conduzido em pomar comercial com plantas de 16 anos de idade, da variedade Valência durante o ano agrícola 2007. Os tratamentos consistiram de três volumes de calda, 3,5; 4,5 e 8,5 L planta-1, aplicados por pulverizador de jato transportado Arbus 2000/Export, com ramal especial de bicos, utilizando-se fungicidas e períodos recomendados para o controle da doença em um total de quatro pulverizações e mais um tratamento testemunha (sem pulverização). As avaliações de incidência e severidade da doença ocorreram através de escala visual diagramática de notas em duas épocas (pré-colheita e colheita), em três alturas (baixo, médio e alto) da planta e mais três setores horizontais (entrada, frontal e saída) em dois lados da planta. Os frutos caídos foram contados quinzenalmente, em plantas previamente selecionadas, do início da maturação até a colheita com a quantificação da produção (kg planta-1). A incidência e severidade da doença foram menores quando as pulverizações foram realizadas com 8,5 L planta-1 na primeira época de avaliação (pré-colheita), porém na colheita, não houve diferenças entre os mesmos parâmetros, quando pulverizados 4,5 ou 8,5 L planta-1. Nenhum tratamento reduziu a doença no setor alto da planta, em comparação a testemunha. Os setores da planta com os frutos mais expostos aos raios solares, lado direito e alto da planta, apresentaram maior incidência e severidade da doença. A redução no volume de 8,5 para 4,5 L planta-1 pode ser praticada na citricultura sem prejuízo do nível de controle da MPC.

The chemical control of the causal agent of citrus black spot (CBS) has been highlighted for the excessive required number of sprayings, considerably increasing citrus production costs. Improvements in the spray efficiency and reductions in the quantity of phytosanitary products have already been searched, but the results of that practice are not consistent yet for its use at commercial scale. Thus, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the interference of reduced spray volumes in black spot control in citrus fruits. The experiment was carried out in commercial citrus orchard with 16-year-old plants of 'Valencia' variety, during 2007 agricultural season. Treatments consisted of three spray volumes: 3.5; 4.5 and 8.5 liters.plant-1, applied with Arbus 2000/Export airblast sprayer with special manifold of hydraulic nozzles, using fungicides and periods recommended for the disease control, totaling four sprayings plus a control treatment (without spray). The disease incidence and severity were evaluated by visual diagrammatic scale of notes in two different periods (preharvest and harvest), at three plant heights (low, middle and top) and three horizontal sections (entrance, frontal and exit) in two sides of the plant. The fallen fruits were counted every fifteen days, for previously selected plants, from the beginning of maturation to harvest, and the production was quantified (kg.plant-1). The disease incidence and severity were significantly lower when sprayings were done with 8.5 liters.plant-1 in the first evaluation period (pre-harvest), but in the harvest period there were not differences between the same parameters when 4.5 or 8.5 liters.plant-1 were sprayed. None of those treatments reduced the disease on the top section of plants, compared to control. The plant sections with fruits more exposed to sun rays, top and right side of the plant, demonstrated higher disease incidence and severity. The volume reduction from 8.5 to 4.5 liters.plant-1 can be adopted for citrus orchards without damaging the CBS control level.

Foi avaliado o desenvolvimento da ferrugem asiática e da produtividade da cultura da soja em razão de pulverizações fungicidas realizadas em diferentes estádios fenológicos da cultura. Os tratamentos consistiram na pulverização da mistura fungicida piraclostrobina + epoxiconazole no estádio fenológico V10 e R2; R2 e R5.2; apenas em R2; sem pulverização (testemunha). Os valores da AACPD total (área abaixo da curva de progresso da doença) e da produtividade da cultura da soja nos tratamentos com pulverização fungicida foram superiores ao tratamento testemunha. Até o 117º dia após a emergência das plantas, a aplicação de fungicida em V10 e R2 promoveu maior controle da ferrugem. Os resultados evidenciaram que a pulverização fungicida contra P. pachyrhizi é indispensável para diminuir as perdas na produtividade provocadas pela doença e que, em algumas situações, apenas uma pulverização fungicida no estádio R2 pode reduzir perdas significativas na produtividade.

This study evaluated the development of Asian soybean rust and soybean yield after fungicide spraying in different phenological growth stages. Treatments consisted of spraying the fungicide mixture pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole in the phenological stages V10 and R2; R2 and R5.2; only in R2; and no spraying (control). The total values of AUDPC (area under the disease progress curve) and soybean yield for treatments with fungicide spraying were superior to those of control. Until the 117th day after emergence, fungicide spraying in V10 and R2 led to higher rust control. The results evidenced that fungicide spraying against P. pachyrhizi is essential to reduce losses in soybean yield caused by the disease and in some situations only one fungicide spraying in R2 stage can reduce significant yield losses.

Com o intuito de melhorar a cobertura da pulverização e diminuir as perdas na produtividade da cultura da soja, o estudo objetivou avaliar o efeito da adição de adjuvantes à calda combinado ou não ao uso da assistência de ar sobre a deposição da pulverização, controle de Phakopsora pachyrhizi H. Sydow & P. Sydow, perdas de produção (peso de 1000 grãos) e produtividade da cultura (kg ha-1). Dois experimentos a campo foram conduzidos na cultura da soja, variedade Conquista, safra agrícola 2008/09. Um deles no delineamento em blocos ao acaso com três doses de adjuvantes associados a um marcador cúprico combinadas a dois níveis de ar na barra de pulverização (0 e 29 km h-1), totalizando 6 tratamentos e 4 repetições. Outro experimento foi instalado no mesmo local do anterior. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso com 7 tratamentos: fungicida e dois adjuvantes associados ao fungicida, combinados a dois níveis de ar na barra de pulverização (0 e 29 km h-1), mais testemunha, e 4 repetições. Após a pulverização do fungicida piraclostrobina + epoxiconazole com diferentes tecnologias, procedeu-se a avaliação da severidade da doença através da estimativa da área abaixo da curva de progresso da doença (AACPD) e da produtividade da cultura da soja. A assistência de ar na velocidade máxima gerada pelo ventilador (29 km h-1), combinada ao fungicida piraclostrobina + epoxiconazole mais o adjuvante organosiliconado Silwet L-77 contribuiu para melhor controle da ferrugem asiática, proporcionando incremento na produtividade e no peso de 1000 grãos.

To improve the spray coverage and reduce the productivity losses of soybean crop, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding adjuvants to the spray solution combined with or without air assistance on spray deposition, Phakopsora pachyrhizi H. Sydow & P. Sydow control, production losses (weight of 1000 grains) and soybean crop productivity (kg ha-1). Two experiments were conducted in the field with soybean crop, Conquista variety (season 2008/09). One of them was conducted in randomized block design with three doses of adjuvants associated with one cupric tracer. These treatments were also combined at two levels of air assistance on spray boom (0 and 29 km h-1), totaling 6 treatments and 4 replicates. Another experiment was carried out in the same place of the previous experiment in a randomized block design with 7 treatments: fungicide and two adjuvants in mixture with the fungicide, combined with two levels of air assistance on spray boom (0 to 29 km h-1), plus control, and 4 replicates. After spraying of the fungicide pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole using different technologies, the soybean rust severity was evaluated by estimating the area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) and soybean crop yield. Air assistance in maximum speed generated by a fan (29 km h-1), combined with the organosilicone adjuvant Silwet L-77 plus fungicide pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole, contributed to improve soybean rust control increasing the productivity and weight of 1000 grains.
