ABSTRACT Introduction: In the literature, several articles demonstrate patient satisfaction and better understanding of the information transmitted by the medical team, with the aid of three-dimensional pieces. Education and health are inseparable and interdependent practices, they have always been articulated, and considered crucial elements in the action process of health professionals. Thus, teachers and students of the medicine course at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco created a university extension project that aimed at the use of anatomical models printed in 3D, for the education of patients in the orthopedics and traumatology outpatient clinic. Experience Report: Over the six months of the project, 77 patients were assisted and the project employed the work of 3 teachers and 18 undergraduate students, totaling 98 people involved in the project. The actions were divided into 2 blocks: the first consisted of training the students and, in the second, the students visited the outpatient clinic, accompanied by a specialist physician in charge and used pieces printed by the students themselves, to guide the patients regarding their respective condition and provided guidance on therapy using these printed pieces. Discussion: the possibility of using this tool as an aid in medical communication opens up a vast horizon of application of 3D printing in health education. This, in turn, favors the improvement of health promotion in less developed regions, since this interaction between the health team and the community allows the promotion, protection and recovery of health, based on a horizontal dialogue, valuing and respecting the users of the health system, aiming to make them an agent and protagonist of the health and disease process. Conclusion: It can be concluded, therefore, that extension projects such as this one have enormous potential to generate impacts on medicine, the academic community and the assisted population, especially the less educated ones. RESUMO Introdução: Na literatura, diversos artigos apresentam a satisfação dos pacientes e a melhor clareza de entendimento acerca das informações transmitidas pela equipe médica, com o auxílio de peças tridimensionais. A educação e a saúde são práticas inseparáveis e interdependentes, sempre estiveram articuladas, consideradas elementos fundamentais no processo de atuação dos profissionais da saúde. Assim, professores e alunos do curso de Medicina da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco criaram uma extensão universitária, que objetivava o uso de modelos anatômicos, impressos em 3D, para educação dos pacientes do ambulatório de ortopedia e traumatologia. Relato de experiência: Ao longo dos seis meses de projeto, foram assistidos 77 pacientes, e o projeto contou com o trabalho de três professores e 18 alunos da graduação, totalizando 98 pessoas envolvidas no projeto. As ações foram divididas em dois blocos. O primeiro consistiu na capacitação dos alunos. No segundo, os discentes realizavam visitas ao ambulatório, acompanhados por um médico especialista responsável, usavam peças impressas pelos próprios alunos, para orientar os pacientes quanto à sua respectiva condição, e davam orientações sobre a terapêutica valendo-se dessas peças impressas. Discussão: A possibilidade de utilização dessa ferramenta como auxílio na comunicação médica abre um vasto horizonte de aplicação da impressão 3D na educação popular em saúde. Isso, por sua vez, propicia o aperfeiçoamento da promoção da saúde de regiões menos desenvolvidas, uma vez que essa interação entre equipe de saúde e comunidade permite a promoção, a proteção e a recuperação da saúde, a partir de um diálogo horizontal, valorizando e respeitando o usuário do sistema de saúde, de maneira a torná-lo agente e protagonista do processo saúde e doença. RESUMO Objetivos: Avaliar a eficácia e os efeitos da liberação das musculaturas de quadris subluxados de pacientes com SCZ. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo do tipo retrospectivo com 29 pacientes CZS com subluxação do quadril, correspondendo a 55 quadris operados em um hospital público de Recife, Brasil. Foram avaliados os percentuais migratórios da cabeça femoral (PM) no pré-operatório e comparados com os resultados pós-operatórios de 6 e 12 meses. Resultados: Foram elegíveis 29 pacientes, representando 55 quadris avaliados. 19 eram do sexo feminino (65,5%), com média de idade de 31,45 meses (variando de 23 a 42 anos). 19 pacientes eram GMFCS nível V (65,5%), 34,5% eram nível IV e 20 dos 29 pacientes (69%) não apresentaram complicações. O PM teve redução absoluta de 11,6% (GMFCS IV) e de 13,31% (GMFCS V), nos primeiros seis meses. Após 12 meses, houve regressão do PM de 7,14% (GMFCS V) e de 11,25% (GMFCS IV) em relação aos valores pré-operatórios, sem diferença estatística entre os valores do PM apresentados entre 6 e 12 meses da cirurgia. ABSTRACT Objectives: Evaluate the efficacy and effects of releasing the muscles of subluxated hips of patients with SCZ. Methods: This is a retrospective study with 29 patients with subluxation of the hip, corresponding to 55 hips operated in a public hospital in Recife, Brazil. Preoperative femoral head migration (PM) percentages were evaluated and compared with 6- and 12-month postoperative results. Results: Twenty-nine patients were eligible, representing 55 hips evaluated. 19 were female (65.5%), with a mean age of 31.45 months (ranging from 23 to 42 years). 19 patients were GMFCS level V (65.5%), 34.5% were level IV, and 20 of the 29 patients (69%) had no complications. The PM had an absolute reduction of 11.6% (GMFCS IV) and 13.31% (GMFCS V) in the first six months. RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a eficácia da aspirina como profilaxia da trombose venosa profunda (TVP) em pacientes submetidos à artroplastia total de quadril (ATQ) e analisar a incidência de possíveis sangramentos no pós-operatório. Método: Este estudo prospectivo realizado em 2017 foi constituído por 37 pacientes, com indicação de ATQ, com alto risco de TVP. No pós-operatório imediato foram iniciadas administração de aspirina, uso de meias de compressão elástica e deambulação precoce. Realizou-se um ultrassom com dopplerfluxometria no 6º dia e na 6ª semana de pós-operatório para excluir tromboembolismo venoso. Para detectar sangramentos, foram usadas variáveis hematimétricas e critérios clínicos. Resultados: No 6o dia após o procedimento, a incidência de TEV (tromboembolismo venoso) foi 21,6% e na 6ª semana houve uma redução para 8,1% (p = 0,102). Apenas 2,7% foram diagnosticados com TVP tanto no 6o dia como na 6ª semana. No pós-operatório imediato houve uma redução da hemoglobina (p < 0,001), contrastando com a sexta semana de pós-operatório, quando esses níveis se elevaram para os níveis basais. Conclusões: A aspirina mostrou-se eficaz como profilaxia química da trombose venosa em pacientes de alto risco submetidos à ATQ. Não houve registro clínico de sangramento pós-operatório e os níveis hematimétricos sugeriram não ter havido sangramento crônico. Nível de Evidência II; Estudo prospectivo.

ABSTRACT Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of aspirin as prophylaxis for deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA), and to analyze the incidence of bleeding during the post-operative period. Methods: This prospective study carried out in 2017 consisted of 37 patients indicated for THA with high risk for DVT. Immediately after the procedure, aspirin, elastic compression socks and early deambulation were initiated. Doppler ultrasound was performed in the legs 6 days and 6 weeks post-procedure to rule out venous thromboembolism. Hematometric variables and clinical criteria were used to detect bleeding. Results: The incidence of VTE (venous thromboembolism) 6 days post-procedure was 21.6%. By 6 weeks post-procedure, it dropped to 8.1%, (p = 0.102). Only 2.7% were diagnosed with VTE, 6 days and also 6 weeks post-procedure. Within the immediate postoperative period, hemoglobin was lower (p < 0.001), in contrast to 6 weeks after surgery, when it returned to baseline levels. Conclusion: Aspirin was an effective chemical prophylaxis for venous thromboembolism in high-risk patients who underwent THA. There was no clinical record of postoperative bleeding and hematometric levels suggested that there was no chronic bleeding. Level of Evidence II; Prospective study.

ABSTRACT Objectives: To present a simplified calculation for the measurement of osteotomy wedges used for the correction of angular uniplanar deformities of long bones and to compare the simplified calculation proposed (circumferential calculation) with the classical trigonometric calculations, as well as with the exact calculation performed by computer software AutoCADtm. Methods: The software AutoCADtm was used to calculate the bone wedges, for mathematical comparison of the three main groups, each one of them containing 18 hypothetical bone deformities which angles ranging from 5 to 90 degrees, with 5 degrees intervals between them. Results: In the analysis of 18 deformities, the hypothetical angular bone, the average lengths of the corrective wedges obtained by the trigonometric, circumferential and the exact metods were, respectively, 32.21 ± 16.81 mm, 33.16 ± 18.63 mm and 35.22 ± 23.52 mm. There was no statistically significant difference between the three calculation methods (p>0.05). Conclusion: The circumferential calculation proposed in this study is useful for being accurate and simple, not requiring any trigonometric knowledge. Level of Evidence II, Experimental Study.

PURPOSE:To investigate by histomorphometry the distraction osteogenesis by Ilizarov technique in dog radius with the use of autologous stem cells in regenerated bone. METHODS:Ten dogs (20 radiuses) underwent the osteotomy of 20% of extension of their radiuses, and osteogenic distraction using the Ilizarov technique after this procedure at rate of 1mm per day divided into 0.5mm every 12 hours. The elongation was performed until the regeneration reached 20% of the total length of the radius. The stem cells were isolated, concentrated and injected in the regenerated bone, when it reached 10% of the length of the entire radius. The regenerated bone was evaluated using histomorphometric analysis when the elongation was 20% the size of radius. RESULTS: The bone formation was evidenced by histomorphometric indices were significantly greater in the study group. In the histology evaluation the type of healing was mixed in 80% (intra membrane and endocondral) in both groups; the osteoblastic activity from moderate to intense was greater in the study group; and the space occupied by the newly-formed bone tissue was more evident in the study group. CONCLUSIONS:The histomorphometric indices in this study expressing the microarchitecture, trabecular thickness, trabecular spacing, number of trabecula and quantity of bone that was significant in the group study. These data suggest that the use of undifferentiated stem cells autologous bone marrow in the regenerate bone induces osteogenesis and bone quality.
