O presente trabalho foi conduzido no Departamento de Zootecnia da UFSM com o objetivo de avaliar o valor nutritivo da casca de grão de soja moída sem tostar (peneira 2,38mm, CGSM) para ruminantes. O mesmo constou de um ensaio convencional de digestibilidade in vivo com ovinos, que durou 28 dias. Foram utilizados 23 animais machos castrados, com peso vivo médio de 32,4kg, alojados individualmente em gaiolas metabólicas e sorteados em cinco grupos (tratamentos) de cinco animais (exceto T4), num delineamento estatístico inteiramente casualizado. Os tratamentos (T) testados foram: T1 = 100% de palha de arroz triturada (PAT); T2 = 75% de PAT + 25% de CGSM; T3 = 50% de PAT + 50% de CGSM; T4 = 25% de PAT + 75% de CGSM e T5 = 100% de CGSM. A CGSM utilizada neste experimento apresentou, com base na matéria seca (MS; 89,19%), 15,67% de proteína bruta (PB), 94,74% de matéria orgânica (MO), 33,82% de fibra bruta (FB), 1,65% de extrato etéreo (EE) e 43,60% de extrativo não nitrogenado (ENN). Verificou-se, através da análise de regressão, um efeito linear altamente significativo (P < 0,01) e ascendente à medida que a CGSM substituiu a PAT nos tratamentos com relação a percentagem obtida para nutrientes digestíveis totais (NDT) e aos coeficientes de digestibilidade aparente (CDA) da MS (CDAMS), da MO (CDAMO), da PB (CDAPB), do EE (CDAEE) e do ENN (CDAENN); todavia não verificou-se efeito significativo dos tratamentos com relação ao CDA da FB (CDAFB). A CGSM apresentou, quando fornecida como alimento único (T5), 65,39% de CDAMS, 68,28% de CDAFB e 67,05% de NDT. Conclui-se que a CGSM possui um alto valor nutritivo para ruminantes.

The aim of the present experiment was to evaluate the feeding value of ground not toasted soybean hulls (size = 2.38 mm, GSH), for ruminants. This investigation, consisted of a conventional in vivo digestion trial 28 days using sheep as amodel. Twenty-three animals castrated males with a 32.4kg average body weight (BW), individually lodged in metabolic cages and alloted in five treatments (T) of five animals each (except T4), were used in a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments tested were the following: T1 = 100% triturated rice straw (TRS), T2 = 75% TRS + 25% GSH, ^ = 50% TRS + 50% GSH, T4 = 25% TRS + 75% GSH, and T5 = 100% GSH. The GSH used in this experiment had, 94.74% organic matter (OM), 15.67% crude protein (CP), 33.82% crude fiber (CF), 1.65% ether extract (EE), and 43.60% nitrogenfree extract (NFE) with basis on dry matter (DM, 89.19%). There was verified, through analysis of regression, a highly significant ascending linear effect (P < 0.01) while GSH substituted TRS in the treatments with relation to percentage obtained for total digestive nutriente (TDN) and the apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) of DM (ADCDM), of OM (ADCOM), of CP (ADCCP), of EE (ADCEE), and of NFE (ADCNFE); however there were not verified any significant effects of the treatments in relation to ADC of CF (ADCCF). The GSH presented 65.39% ADCDM, 68.28% ADCCF and 67.05% TDN, when it was the only feed (T5). It was concluded that GSH has a hig nutritive value for ruminants.

Com objetivo de avaliar as cultivares (cvs.) de capim-eletante: Merckeron Pinda, Mercker-86-México, Porto Rico e Cameroon sob pastejo, conduziu-se este experimento em Santa Maria-RS. Para avaliação, foram Utilizadas novilhas e vacas em lactação da raça Holandês em pastejo rotativo. O valor nutritivo foi estimado a partir dos teores de proteína bruta (PB) e coeficientes de digestibilidade in vitro da matéria orgânica (DIVMO) determinados sobre amostras da parte aérea das plantas, colmos, tolhas e extrato da forragem paste jada. As cvs. apresentaram valor nutritivo bastante equilibrado, diferindo quanto aos teores de PB das folhas e DIVMO destas e do extrato da forragem pastejada: obtendo os melhores resultados com as cvs. Merckeron Pinda e Mercker-86-México.

To evaluate four different elephant grass cultivars (cvs.): Merckeron Pinda, Mercker-86-Mexico, Porto Rico and Cameroon, under grazing conditions. Holstem heiters and cows were used in a rotational grazing system. This work was undertaken at the experimental area of the Animal Science Department, Federal University Campus, Santa Maria-RS. Nutritivo value was estimated through crude protein (PB) and in vitro organic matter digestibility (DIVMO) coefficients from samples of the aerial part of plants, stalks and leaves, and an extract of the area being pasteured, collected by hand, simulating grazing. The cvs. have shown very similar nutritivo values, but there were differences in PB for leaves and DIVMO for leaves and for the extract of the simulated grazing; Merckeron Pinda and Mercker-86-Mexico were the best.

Cultivares de soja (Glycine max (L.) Merril), mais utilizados no Rio Grande do Sul para produção de grãos, foram testadas visando a produção e qualidade do feno. O experimento foi estabelecido no Departamento de Zootecnia da UFSM, em solo pertencente a Unidade de Mapeamento São Pedro (Podzólico Vermelho Amarelo), textura média. As cultivares BR-2, Paraná, IAS-5, Planalto, IAS-4, CEP-12, Bragg, BR-4, Bossier, Santa Rosa, BR-1, Cobb, foram agrupadas em delineamento de blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições. O corte foi realizado no estádio de início de formação de grãos (R5), deixando as plantas no campo até murcha completa e, posteriormente, fenado a galpão. Foram analisados matéria seca (MS), digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca (%DIVMS) e proteína bruta (%PB). Não houve diferença significativa na produção de MS e DIVMS das 12 cultivares testadas (P > 0,05). A produção de feno oscilou entre 7446kg/ha para Bragg e 9931 kg/ha para CEP-12. A DIVMO oscilou entre 52,2% para cultivar Bragg e 62,3% para CEP-12. Houve diferença significativa nos teores de PB na MS do feno de soja, sendo que variaram de 12,6% na cultivar BR-1 à 16,67% para a cultivar Bragg.

Several soybean cultivars commonly grown in Rio Grande do Sul, for grain production were evaluated for hay yield and quality. The experiment was conducted at the Animal Production Department, UFSM on a podzolic yellow-red soil of medium texture. Twelve cultivars: IAS-5, BR-2, BR-4, Paraná, Planalto, IAS-4, CEP-12, Bragg, Bossier, Santa Rosa, BR-1, Cobb, were distribuited into a randomized block design with four replicates. Each cultivar was cut at beans beginning to develop, field dryed up to wilking and barn dried afterwards crude protein (CP) and in vitro digestibility (IVDMO) of organic matter were analysed and dry matter yield (DM yield) was estimated. There were not significant differences between 7446Kg.ha-1 and 9931 kg. ha-1 for the Bragg and CEP-12 cultivars respectively. IVDMO varied between 52,2% and 62,3% for the same cultivars respectively, There were significant differences in CP% between cultivars varying between 12,6% for cultivar BR-1 and 16,67% for Braggs.
