ABSTRACT The use of tank mixtures has long been a practice in the phytosanitary management of agricultural crops. However, when different molecules are mixed in a tank, interactions may occur that reduce the efficiency of the products and cause a loss of selectivity in the crops. The aim of this study was to evaluate selectivity in maize, with a tank mixture of different phytosanitary products recommended for use with the crop. The following products were used: herbicides - Sanson®, Soberan®, Callisto®, Zapp Pro®; fungicides - Priori Xtra®, Nativo®, Tebufort®, Aproach Prima®; insecticides - Connect®, Lorsban® 480 BR, Karate Zeon®; and nutrition - Kellus Manganese®, Kellus Blindex®. The experimental units consisted of 5-litre pots, containing two plants per pot, with the products applied at phenological stage V6. Assessments were made of phytotoxicity, transient chlorophyll a fluorescence, chlorophyll content and shoot dry weight. The data obtained in the experiment were submitted to ANOVA (p ≤ 0.05), and when significant, to the Scott-Knott test (p ≤ 0.05). The maize crop suffered phytotoxicity of up to 30%, with the plants recovering from 28 DAA. The phytotoxicity was caused by mixing the different products in the spraying solution, mainly due to the synergism caused by the mixture of the herbicides nicosulfuron and tembotrione with the insecticide chlorpyrifos and the fertiliser Kellus Manganese®, which aggravated the incompatibility of some treatments. RESUMO As interações entre herbicidas quando misturados na calda de pulverização podem ser sinérgicas, aditivas ou antagônicas. Um exemplo de antagonismo está na associação entre os herbicidas 2,4-D e graminicidas. Há a suspeita de que o 2,4-D contribui para o aumento da atividade do Citocromo P450, podendo ser esta uma das causas do antagonismo. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar o uso do inibidor das enzimas CYP450 in vivo, associado às misturas de herbicidas 2,4-D e inibidores da ACCase, no controle de Digitaria insularis. O experimento foi realizado em delineamento de blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 6x2 com quatro repetições, sendo o fator A os herbicidas: controle 2,4-D (1005 g a.e. ha-1); cletodim (192 g a.i ha-1) e haloxifope (62,4 g a.i ha-1), 2,4-D+cletodim (1005 g a.e ha-1+192 g a.i ha-1), 2,4-D+haloxifope (1005 g a.e ha-1 +62.4 g a.i ha-1); e o fator B a presença ou não de malation (1000 g ha-1) aplicado duas horas antes dos herbicidas. Foi realizado um teste físico-químico para verificar a compatibilidade dos herbicidas no tanque. A aplicação do malation duas horas antes das misturas dos herbicidas 2,4-D+clethodim ou haloxyfop, não proporcionou controle satisfatório do capim-amargoso, sugerindo que as enzimas CYP450 inibidas pelo malation não estão envolvidas no efeito antagônico observado. A mistura de 2,4-D+haloxyfop demonstrou menos eficácia no controle do capim-amargoso quando comparada com 2,4-D+clethodim, porém ambas foram incompatíveis na mistura em tanque, o que pode estar associado à eficácia reduzida no manejo do capim-amargoso.

ABSTRACT Herbicide interactions can be synergic, additive, or antagonist when mixed in the spray tank. A good example is an association between 2,4-D and graminicides. One hypothesis is that 2,4-D contributes to increasing the Cytochrome P450 activity, which may be one of the causes of antagonism. This study aimed to investigate the use of CYP450 enzymes inhibitor associated with the herbicide mixtures 2,4-D and ACCase inhibitors in vivo on the control of Digitaria insularis. The experiment was performed using a randomized block design in a factorial scheme of 6x2 with four replications. Factor A consisted of untreated check, 2,4-D (1005 g a.e ha-1), clethodim (192 g a.i ha-1) and haloxyfop (62.4 g a.i ha-1), 2,4-D + clethodim (1005 g a.e ha-1+192 g a.i ha-1), and 2,4-D + haloxyfop (1005 g a.e ha-1 +62.4 g a.i ha-1). Factor B represented the presence or absence of malathion (1000 g ha-1) applied two hours before applying the herbicides. A physicochemical test was performed to verify the compatibility of the herbicides in the tank. Malathion application performed two hours before applying the herbicide mixtures (2,4-D and clethodim/haloxyfop) did not provide adequate control of sourgrass, suggesting that CYP450 enzymes inhibited by malathion are not involved in the antagonistic effect between 2,4-D and both graminicides in the management of sourgrass. The 2,4-D + haloxyfop in tank mix demonstrated less efficacy in controlling sourgrass than 2,4-D + clethodim, but both mixtures were incompatible in the tank mix, which may be associated with reduced efficacy in sourgrass management.

RESUMO A umidade do solo pode alterar o transporte e a permanência de herbicidas pré-emergentes. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência da disponibilidade de água no solo na lixiviação da mistura comercial dos herbicidas imazapyr+imazapic, bem como o efeito carryover deste herbicida no milho semeado em sucessão à soja. O experimento foi desenvolvido em colunas de lixiviação em delineamento de blocos ao acaso com 4 repetições. Foi utilizado esquema fatorial 3x3x2, sendo o fator A as lâminas de irrigação (130%, 100% e 70% da capacidade de campo (CC)), o fator B as doses da mistura comercial dos herbicidas imazapyr + imazapic (0,00+0,00; 52,5+17,5 e 105+35 g ha-1) e o fator C a profundidade (0-0,3 m e 0,3-0,6 m). A semeadura da soja foi realizada no topo das colunas e imediatamente após foi realizada a aplicação da mistura dos herbicidas. Após 120 dias as colunas foram abertas, gerando duas canaletas, onde em uma foi semeado o milho (Zea mays) e na outra melancia (Citrullus lanatus) como bioindicadora do resíduo dos herbicidas. Foram avaliados os parâmetros fluorescência da clorofila a aos 15 e 30 dias após germinação (DAG) e acúmulo de matéria seca de parte aérea aos 30 DAG. Houve maior retenção do herbicida imazapyr+imazapic na profundidade de 0-0.3m na condição de 70% CC e lixiviação para a profundidade de 0,3-0,6 m na condição de 130% CC, com redução no acúmulo de massa das plantas de melancia. O herbicida tem potencial carryover para a cultura do milho em solos mantidos a 70% CC.

ABSTRACT Soil moisture can alter the transport and permanence of pre-emergent herbicides. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of water availability in the soil on the leaching of a commercial mixture of the herbicides imazapyr + imazapic, as well as the carryover effect of this herbicide in corn planted in succession to soybean. The experiment was carried out in leaching columns in a randomized block design with 4 replications. A 3x3x2 factorial scheme was used, with factor A being the irrigation (130%, 100% and 70% of field capacity (CC)), factor B the doses of the commercial mixture of the herbicides imazapyr + imazapic (0.00+ 0.00; 52.5 + 17.5 and 105 + 35 g ha-1) and factor C at soil depth (0-0.3 m and 0.3-0.6 m). Soybean sowing was performed at the top of the columns and immediately after herbicide mixture was applied. After 120 days the columns were opened, generating two sections, where corn (Zea mays) and the other watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) were sown as a bioindicator of herbicide residue. The fluorescence parameters of chlorophyll a at 15 and 30 days after germination (DAG) and shoot dry matter accumulation at 30 DAG were evaluated. There was greater retention of the herbicide imazapyr + imazapic at a depth of 0-0.3m at 70% CC condition and leaching at a depth of 0.3-0.6m at 130% CC condition, with a reduction in the mass accumulation of watermelon plants. The herbicide has a carryover potential for corn cultivation in soils maintained at 70% CC.

ABSTRACT: Seedling production is an important step in the lettuce production system. However, there is a tendency to apply excessive irrigation at this stage. The aim of this study was to test the use of the Simplified Irrigation Controller (SIC) under two conditions: first, with the sensor installed in the substrate (measuring the soil water tension) and second, in the atmosphere (“atmospheric” - responding to vapor demand in the atmosphere) to control the irrigation of lettuce seedlings. The performance of the SIC was evaluated by monitoring plant traits. The lettuce seeds of the Regina cultivar were sown in styrofoam trays with commercial organic substrate. Both experiments were conducted under greenhouse conditions and evaluated under different SIC activation tensions. Shoot fresh weight and dry weight, height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf area, water use efficiency (WUE) (ratio between the dry mass of plant produced by the volume of water applied), chlorophyll content, stomatal conductance and chlorophyll a fluorescence were assessed. In the experiment with the substrate sensor, the tension of 11.5 kPa caused death in 94 % of the seedlings and was disregarded in the statistical analysis. All biometric and physiological traits evaluated decreased as the SIC tensions increased. Thus, tensions of 4.0 (substrate sensor) and 3.5 kPa (atmospheric sensor) showed greater potential for producing vigorous seedlings, with WUE average values of 1.86 and 1.37 g L−1, respectively. Cultivation of lettuce seedlings proved viable under both conditions when the SIC was used, with the emergence of a number of practical advantages of the atmospheric sensor over the substrate one.

ABSTRACT: Concerns with water crisis involve all sectors of society and irrigated agriculture remains the main water consumer. This study evaluated an agricultural production system for lettuce cultivation in greenhouse, “organic potponics”, to economize water and manure use, using a Simplified Irrigation Controller (SIC), based on soil matric potential monitoring. Five irrigation volumes were evaluated in pots with 4.8 L, fertilized with 200 g of vermicompost. One of the volumes was controlled with the SIC. The other volumes represented 130, 80, 60 and 33 % of that controlled by the SIC and all treatments received water at the same time. Shoot fresh weight, head diameter and stomatal conductance (gs) increased linearly with irrigation volumes. For shoot dry weight, number of leaves and water use efficiency (WUE), the regression was quadratic with maximum values at 126, 114 and 83 %, respectively. Leaf relative water content did not show variation among treatments and changes in some fluorescence parameters (Reo/RC, Sm, N and φR0) were much more remarkable to drought compared with the FV/ FM ratio, one of the most commonly used stress indicators. The data indicated a tradeoff between WUE and plant growth thus the economic values of water and lettuce should be taken into account to indicate the best SIC irrigation volume. Organic potponics is promising and should be further improved to save on water, labor and fertilizer use.
