RESUMO Os Sistemas Agroflorestais (SAFs) trazem benefícios múltiplos e constituem uma alternativa para minimizar a degradação ambiental e alcançar um desenvolvimento sustentável, devido à diversidade de espécies que os compõe. O presente estudo avaliou a contribuição das leguminosas arbóreas, Gliricidia sepium e Acacia angustissima, cultivadas em aleias intercaladas com banana (Musa sp.) e açaí (Euterpe oleraceae), na implantação de Sistema Agroflorestal. Comparou-se a produção de biomassa e ciclagem de nutrientes no SAF, com a leguminosa herbáceaPueraria phaseoloides e adubação nitrogenada. O SAF foi implantado em maio de 2004, no Campo Experimental da Embrapa Agrobiologia, em Seropédica - RJ. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos casualizados com cinco tratamentos, constituídos das leguminosas acácia-angustíssima (Acacia angustissima), kudzu-tropical (Pueraria phaseoloides), gliricídia (Gliricidia sepium)dispostas nas entrelinhas da banana e do açaí; além de adubação nitrogenada com ureia, e cobertura viva oriunda da vegetação espontânea. Para quantificar a produção de biomassa e liberação de N, P, Ca, Mg e K in situ foram cortadas as leguminosas e roçado o kudzu-tropical e a vegetação espontânea. As determinações da matéria seca remanescente, liberação de nutrientes, constantes de decomposição e os tempos de meia-vida dos resíduos vegetais foram realizadas acondicionando-se 50 g de material fresco emlitterbags, dispostos na superfície do solo, tomando-se amostras aos 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 60 e 75 após o início do experimento.Acacia angustissima e kudzu-tropical apresentaram maior produção de biomassa seca, igual a 10,8 Mg ha-1. Os resíduos da gliricídia resultaram em maiores constantes de decomposição, nas duas estações do ano.

ABSTRACT The Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) bring multiple benefits and they are an alternative to minimize environmental degradation, and to achieve a sustainable development, due to greatest diversity of species. This study evaluated the contribution of the leguminous trees, gliricídia sepium andAcacia angustissima, grown in alley cropping of banana (Musa sp.) and "açaí" palm (Euterpe oleraceae) used as green manure in the implantation of an Agroforestry Systems. They were compared the production of biomass, nutrients cycling, nitrogen intake, activity and diversity of soil fauna, and banana productivity in the SAF, and with the usage of the legume Pueraria phaseoloides and nitrogen fertilization. The SAF implantation occurred in May 2004, at the Research Center of Embrapa Agrobiologia, in Seropédica, Rio de Janeiro State. The following year it was planted the forest African mahogany specie (Kaya senegalensis), at the centre of the legumes alleys. The experimental design was of randomized blocks with five treatments and four repetitions. The treatments consisted of the leguminous trees arranged between the lines of bananas and the "açaí" palm, and they were: acacia angustíssima (Acacia angustissima), tropical kudzu (Pueraria phaseoloides), and gliricídia (Gliricídia sepium); besides application of nitrogen as urea and spontaneous vegetation. To quantify the production of biomass, and the release of N, P, Ca, Mg and K, the legumes branches were cut and the kudzu tropical and spontaneous vegetation were mowed, in the rainy and dry seasons. The determination of remaining dry matter, releasing of nutrients, decomposition rates, and half life time of plant residues were held to 50 grams of fresh material from litterbags, placed on the soil surface, sampled at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 60 and 75 days after the installation of the experiment. Acacia angustissima and kudzu tropical showed higher dry biomass, 9.5 and 10.8 Mg ha-1, respectively. The gliricídia residues showed the highest decomposition rates, in the two year seasons.

As cultivares de pimentão Magali R e Magda Super foram comparadas no sistema orgânico de produção, consorciadas ou não com crotalária (Crotalaria juncea), e sem desbaste de ramos ou desbastadas a partir da terceira ramificação. A produtividade, em frutos de padrão comercial, alcançou média geral de 37 t ha-1, com o máximo próximo de 43 t ha-1. O híbrido Magali R produziu frutos mais pesados e longos do que a cultivar Magda Super. Entretanto, não houve diferença significativa entre as duas cultivares com relação à produtividade. Os frutos, tanto de Magali R quanto de Magda Super, ultrapassaram em média os 10 cm de comprimento mínimo para atingir a cotação " extra" de mercado. O número de frutos por planta aumentou nas parcelas não desbastadas, independentemente do consórcio. O desbaste de ramos reduziu o diâmetro basal médio, mas elevou o peso médio dos frutos, não influindo porém na produtividade. O híbrido Magali R apresentou apenas 15% de plantas com sintomas de mosaico, ao final do ciclo produtivo, contra 38% referentes à cv. Magda Super. O consórcio com a leguminosa resultou em ganho de produtividade e aumentou o comprimento dos frutos. Com a inclusão da crotalária, houve incremento do teor de nitrogênio nos frutos, bem como da quantidade desse elemento exportada na colheita.

Sweet pepper cultivars Magali R and Magda Super under organic management were compared, intercropped or not with Crotalaria juncea, and submitted or not to pruning starting from the third branch. Average yield of commercial fruits was 37 t ha-1 with maximum value of 43 t ha-1. The hybrid Magali R produced heavier and longer fruits than cv. Magda Super. However, no significant difference of productivity was found between cultivars. Fruits of both Magali R and Magda Super reached more than 10 cm of average length, the minimum required for highest market standard. The number of fruits increased in plants not submitted to pruning regardless of the process used. Branch pruning also reduced the average basal diameter of fruits and increased their average weight, without effect on productivity. 15% of the hybrid Magali R plants presented mosaic symptoms at the end of the vegetative cycle compared to 38% of Magda Super. Intercropping with crotalaria resulted in higher yields, increase of average fruit weight and nitrogen content of pepper fruits as well as in the amount of that element exported at harvest.
