A redução do espaçamento entre fileiras de 40 para 20cm incrementa a interceptação da radiação, o índice de área foliar e o rendimento de grãos. Este trabalho objetivou avaliar se a redução do espaçamento entre fileiras influencia a tolerância da soja à perda de área fotossintética. O experimento foi conduzido, em semeadura direta na Estação Experimental Agronômica da UFRGS, na safra 2000/01. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições, em parcelas sub-subdivididas. Os tratamentos foram desfolhamento em três estádios de desenvolvimento (V9 - nono nó, R2 - floração e R5 - inicio enchimento de grãos), dois espaçamentos entre fileiras (20 e 40cm) e quatro níveis de desfolhamento (0 - testemunha, 33, 67 e 100%). Foi utilizada a cultivar FT-Abyara. Os desfolhamentos realizados no período reprodutivo reduziram o rendimento, sendo o estádio R5 o mais crítico. O rendimento médio de grãos da testemunha não desfolhada foi 21% maior no espaçamento de 20cm (4134kg ha-1) do que no de 40cm (3413kg ha-1) e manteve-se sempre superior, em todos os níveis de desfolhamento. O componente que mais influenciou o rendimento foi o número de legumes m-2. Estes resultados indicam que a redução do espaçamento entre fileiras de 40cm para 20cm é uma prática cultural favorável tanto para as plantas com área foliar intacta quando desfolhadas.

The row spacing reduction from 40 to 20 cm increase radiation interception, leaf area index and grain yield. This experiment aimed to evaluate if the row spacing reduction influence soybean tolerance to loss of photosynthetic area. The research was performed using no-till tillage system at the Agronomic Experimental Station of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, during the 2000/01 growing season. Treatments were arranged in a split-split plot randomized complete block design, with four replications. Treatments included five combination of defoliation in three stages of development (V9 - ninth-node, R2 - full bloom and R5 - beginning of seed filling), two row spacings (20 and 40cm) and four defoliation levels (0 - control, 33, 67 and 100%). The cultivar tested was FT-Abyara. Defoliations performed at the reproductive stages decrease grain yield, especially when curried at the begging of grain filling (R5). The control grain yield was 21% higher when soybean was sown with rows 20cm apart (4134kg ha-1) than with 40cm rows (3413kg ha-1). Narrow rows always provided higher yields in all defoliation levels. The component that influenced yield the most was the number of pods m-2. These results indicate that row spacing reduction from 40cm to 20cm is a positive management strategy for soybean production regardless of defoliation level.

O potencial de rendimento da soja pode ser modificado pelo arranjo de plantas. Esta alteração pode resultar da contribuição diferenciada dos estratos do dossel para a determinação do potencial. O experimento foi conduzido na Estação Experimental Agronômica da UFRGS, em Eldorado do Sul, RS, na estação de crescimento 2000/01, objetivando avaliar o potencial de rendimento em três estratos do dossel da soja em função da modificação do arranjo de plantas, em dois regimes hídricos. Utilizou-se a cultivar ‘BRS 137’, em semeadura direta. Os tratamentos constaram de níveis de irrigação (irrigado e não irrigado); espaçamentos entre linhas (20 e 40cm), e populações de plantas (20, 30 e 40 plantas m-2). Estimou-se o potencial de rendimento no início do enchimento de grãos (R5), admitindo-se que todas as flores se transformassem em legumes e que todos os legumes presentes neste estádio atingissem a maturação, formando grãos e contribuindo para o rendimento. O dossel foi divido em três estratos, por dois planos paralelos ao solo, determinando-se o potencial de rendimento e o rendimento de grãos nas três seções do dossel. O tratamento irrigado apresentou maior potencial de rendimento da planta inteira em R5 (14976kg ha-1) e rendimento de grãos em R8 (maturação) que o não irrigado (12148kg ha-1), similar ao que ocorreu em todos os estratos do dossel. O arranjo de plantas com 20 cm, independente da população, apresentou, em média, maior potencial de rendimento em R5 (14970kg ha-1) em relação ao arranjo com 40cm (12154kg ha-1), o que também foi verificado no estrato médio do dossel. Na maturação, o arranjo com espaçamento de 20cm, em combinação com a população de 20 plantas m-2, mostrou-se superior a 40cm (6442kg ha-1 comparado com 4396kg ha-1), pelo maior rendimento nos estratos médio e inferior. Houve diminuição linear do potencial de rendimento em R5 com o aumento da população de plantas, dentro do espaçamento de 20cm, explicado pelo comportamento similar nos estratos do dossel, obtendo-se a mesma resposta no rendimento em R8. Os estratos do dossel da soja contribuem diferentemente para o potencial de rendimento com a modificação do arranjo de plantas, decorrente da alteração do número de estruturas reprodutivas em R5 e componentes do rendimento em R8.

The soybean yield potential can be modified by plant arrangement. This modification might be the result of the diferential contribution of the canopy strata for the potential determination. The experiment was conducted at the Agronomic Experimental Estation of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, in Eldorado do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in the 2000/01 growing season. The objectives were to evaluate the yield potential by stratum of soybean canopy in different plant arrangement, under two water availability. The cultivar tested was BRS 137, in no-till planting. Water availability (irrigated an no irrigated), row spacing (20 and 40cm) and population levels (20, 30 and 40 plants m-2) were tested. The yield potential was estimated in the beginning of grain filling (R5). It was considered that all flowers and pods present at this stage were able to reach maturation, forming grains and contributing to yield. The canopy was divided in three strata by plans paralel to soil surface. The irrigated treatment (14976kg ha-1) presented larger total plant yield potential and yield in R8 (maturity) than without irrigation (12148kg ha-1), similar to what ocurred in all soybean canopy strata. The plant arrangement with 20cm of row spacing, independent of population, presented, on the average, larger yield potential in R5 (14970kg ha-1) compared to 40cm row spacing (12154kg ha-1). The same was also noticed at the medium soybean canopy stratum. At maturity the plant arrangement 20cm of row spacing and population of 20 plants m-2 yielded more than 40cm (6442kg ha-1 compared to 4396kg ha-1), due to larger yield at the medium and botom stratum. There was a linear decrease in yield potential with increase of plant population, with row spacing reduction (20cm), explained by the same behavior of the canopy strata. Similar response was obtained for yield in R8. The soybean canopy strata contributed differently to yield potential with the plant arrangement modification, due to the diferential number of reproductives structures (R5) and yield components (R8) alteration.

A identificação do arranjo de plantas que resulte em menor competição intraespecífica permite melhor aproveitamento dos recursos disponíveis para o crescimento e rendimento de grãos da soja. O experimento foi conduzido na Estação Experimental Agronômica da UFRGS em Eldorado do Sul, RS, na estação de crescimento 2000/01, objetivando avaliar como o arranjo de plantas de soja modifica a competição intraespecífica e de que forma isto se reflete no rendimento de grãos e seus componentes. Utilizou-se a cultivar 'BRS 137' (semiprecoce, determinada) em semeadura direta. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos casualizados com parcelas sub-subdivididas e quatro repetições. Os tratamentos constaram de dois regimes hídricos (irrigado e não irrigado); dois espaçamentos entre linhas (20 e 40cm), e três populações de plantas (20, 30 e 40 plantas.m-2). O rendimento de grãos foi afetado pela irrigação e pela interação espaçamento e população. O tratamento irrigado (5015kg.ha-1) apresentou rendimento de grãos 18% superior ao não irrigado (4253kg.ha-1). A maior taxa de enchimento de grãos (TEG), que resultou no maior peso do grão, explica o maior rendimento obtido no tratamento irrigado. O arranjo de plantas que proporcionou maior rendimento de grãos foi a associação do espaçamento de 20 cm com a população de 20 plantas.m-2, obtendo-se 5014kg.ha-1 em comparação a 4322kg.ha-1 em 40cm de espaçamento. Houve decréscimo linear no rendimento com o aumento da população de plantas no espaçamento reduzido (20cm). Estes resultados são conseqüência do maior número de ramos, nós férteis e de legumes férteis.m-2 obtidos. O arranjo com 20cm de espaçamento e 20 plantas.m-2 amenizou a competição intraespecífica, resultando em maior rendimento de grãos.

Plant arrangement that decrease interplant competition can improve soybean growth and yield by better use of resources. The experiment was performed at the Agronomic Experimental Station of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, in Eldorado do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in the 2000/01 growing season. The objectives were to evaluate how soybean plant arrangement modify the interplant competition and the effect in grain yield and yield components. The cultivar tested was 'BRS 137'(early, determinate), in no-till planting. The treatments were arranged in a split-plot randomized complete-block design,whith four replications. The treatments tested were two water availability (with and without irrigation) , two row spacing (20 and 40cm) and three population levels (20, 30 and 40 plants.m-2). The grain yield was affected by irrigation and by the interaction of row spacing and population. The irigated treatment (5015kg.ha-1) had grain yield 18% higher than the non irigated (4253kg.ha-1). The larger grain filling rate (GFR), resulted in larger seed weight, and explain, the greater yield in the irrigated treatment. The plant arrangemnt of 20 cm row spacing with the population of 20 plantas.m-2 provided the better results (5014kg.ha-1 compared to 4322 kg.ha-1 in 40 cm row spacing). There is a linear decrease in grain yield with the increase in plant population with reduced row spacing (20cm). These results can be explained by more branche number, fertil nodes and fertil pods.m-2 obtained. The arrangement of 20cm row spacing and 20 plants.m-2, attenuated the interplant competition resulting in larger grain yield.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar o padrão antropométrico dos operadores de tratores agrícolas da Depressão Central do Rio Grande do Sul. Os operadores de tratores agrícolas foram medidos por meio de um painel constituído por duas chapas metálicas, permanecendo durante as medições em pé, eretos, com o mínimo de roupa possível e em contato com o painel. As variáveis medidas foram as seguintes: altura do corpo; altura ao nível dos olhos; altura ao nível dos olhos sentado; altura do cotovelo; alcance do braço; alcance da mão; distância pé-patela; apoio do assento. Os dados obtidos demonstram que há diferenças entre o biótipo do operador utilizado pela indústria de tratores agrícolas e o do operador da região, de forma que este último apresentou, para todas as medidas, à exceção do apoio do assento, uma média maior. Observa-se também que, para cada medida, os limites inferior e superior do intervalo onde se encontram 90% dos operadores avaliados foram, respectivamente, menores e maiores que o padrão utilizado pela indústria, caracterizando uma maior variação. Levando-se em consideração as diferenças existentes entre o perfil antropométrico dos operadores de tratores agrícolas da Depressão Central do Rio Grande do Sul e os parâmetros utilizados pela indústria, pode-se confirmar a hipótese de que os tratores agrícolas que se encontram atualmente em comercialização no Brasil podem não oferecer o conforto necessário ao operador desta região .

The objective of this work was to evaluate the anthropometric measures of the agricultural tractor operators of the Central Region of Rio Grande do Sul State. The agricultural tractor operators were measured through a panel that was made of two metallic plates. During the measurement, they were standing, wearing the minimum amount clothes possible, and touching the panel. The measures body height, eyes level height (standing), eyes level height (sitting), elbow height, arms reach, hands reach, kneecap-foot length and seat length were taken. The data showed that there are differences between the operators’ measures used by industry and those taken in this research. The anthropometric measures of the analyzed operators were usually higher than the industrial parameters. For each measure, the lower and bigger upper limits, that included 90% of the operators measured, were lower and higher, respectively, to those used as industrial parameters. This characterizes a major variation. Based on the differences, the commercial agricultural tractors in Brazil can not offer the necessary comfort and ergonomics to the operator of the region.

Em despeito à sua importância, poucas pesquisas vêm sendo executadas com o intuito de caracterizar os acidentes de trabalho com tratores agrícolas, identificando sua natureza (tipo) bem como suas causas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar os acidentes envolvendo tratores agrícolas ocorridos na região da Depressão Central do Rio Grande do Sul e, a partir disto, delinear estratégias eficientes na sua prevenção. Para o levantamento dos dados, foi aplicado um questionário aos operadores de tratores agrícolas da região da Depressão Central do Rio Grande do Sul. Os dados demonstraram que 39% dos trabalhadores rurais entrevistados já sofreram algum tipo de acidente de trabalho com tratores agrícolas. Dentre os tipos de acidentes com tratores agrícolas detectados na pesquisa, destacam-se o capotamento, que correspondeu a 51,71% do total de acidentes graves, e os escorregões, que corresponderam a 40,82% dos acidentes leves. As principais causas dos acidentes relatados foram a falta de conhecimento a respeito das medidas de segurança na operação de tratores (32,77%), a falta de atenção (32,22%) para a tarefa executada e o equipamento inadequado (22,22%). Os acidentes graves tiveram causas diferentes comparativamente aos leves. Operadores sem treinamento adequado, a não observação de regras básicas de segurança e a longa jornada de trabalho são tendências observadas neste trabalho que ampliam os riscos de ocorrência de acidentes. A inclusão de dispositivos que tornem a máquina mais segura e confortável, bem como o treinamento dos operadores de tratores agrícolas são práticas de importância fundamental para a prevenção dos acidentes com tratores agrícolas.

Despite its importance, few researches have been carried out characterizing work accidents involving agricultural tractors. The objective of this work was to characterize the accidents with agricultural tractors, to determine more efficient ways to prevent them. A questionnaire was applied to an ample of agricultural tractor operators from the Central Region of Rio Grande do Sul State. Results showed that 39% of the agricultural tractor operators analyzed had already suffered some kind of accident. The most frequent type of serious accidents was tractor overturning which occurred in 51.71% of the cases. Slips were the most important slight accident. The most important causes of accidents were lack of knowledge about safety procedures on tractor operation (32.77%), lack of attention (32.22%) to the task carried out and inadequate equipment (22.22%). There were great differences between the causes of serious and slight accidents. Operators without adequate training, no observation of some important safety procedures and very long working day were reported in this research, collaborating to increase the occurrence of accidents. Finally, it is necessary to incorporate confort and security devices, as well as training the agricultural tractor operators, to prevent future accidents.
