Resumo O presente estudo foi desenvolvido com objetivo de disponibilizar equações para estimar o volume, sortimentos (funções de afilamento) e a construção de curvas de sítio, buscando realizar a prognose do crescimento e da produção de um povoamento de Teca localizado no município de Alta Floresta, região Norte do estado de Mato Grosso, utilizando um simulador de crescimento e produção florestal denominado SisTeca. Foram utilizadas 154 parcelas permanentes, cujas remedições totalizaram 909 observações, contemplando as idades 2 a 14 anos, além da cubagem de 139 árvores pelo método de Smalian. Foram ajustados o modelo de Schumacher-Hall para estimar os volumes individuais, a função de afilamento de quinto grau para estimar sortimentos e o modelo de Schumacher para a construção de curvas de sítio. Ao final foram realizadas projeções com o SisTeca usando as equações originais (default) e inserindo no SisTeca as equações de volume, afilamento e sítio desenvolvidas nesta pesquisa. As equações de volume, afilamento e sítio ajustadas para povoamentos de Teca na região de Alta Floresta, estado de Mato Grosso, apresentaram bons resultados de ajuste e precisão e são ferramentas importantes para o manejo da Teca, seja para estimar estoques correntes, seja para inserção em sistemas de crescimento e produção como o SisTeca. O simulador da EMBRAPA para a Teca quando munido com as equações dendrométricas desenvolvidas na pesquisa gerou melhores prognoses, comparativamente aos valores observados oriundos das parcelas disponíveis para a espécie na região de Alta Floresta, estado de Mato Grosso. ABSTRACT Defining the optimum points for installing of a cable logging system is a problem faced by forestry planners. This study evaluated the application of a mathematical programming model for optimal location of cable logging in wood extraction. The study was conducted in a forestry company located in Parana State, Brazil. We collected data during timber harvesting and developed mathematical models to define the optimal location of the cable logging considering the variables “cycle time” and “extraction distance”. The variable “cycle time” affected the definition of the optimal location of equipment resulted in a reduced number of installation points with the largest coverage area. The variable “distance extraction” negatively influenced the location, with an increased number of installation points with smaller coverage. The developed model was efficient, but needs to be improved in order to ensure greater accuracy in wood extraction over long distances.

Resumo As atividades antrópicas bem como o uso e ocupação da terra estão intimamente ligadas à qualidade da água e do solo. Uma alternativa para avaliar suas influências na qualidade da água em corpos hídricos é através do biomonitoramento utilizando Allium cepa como organismo bioindicador. Esta técnica permite detectar anormalidades citogenéticas nas células meristemáticas radiculares de Allium cepa após o contato com a amostra de água analisada. Assim, realizou-se a avaliação do potencial genotóxico de águas do Rio da Antas no perímetro urbano do município de Irati-PR e com o auxílio de imagens orbitais fusionadas de alta resolução do satélite Geoeye, buscou-se possíveis relações com o uso e ocupação da terra do entorno deste rio. O biomonitoramento foi realizado em três pontos amostrais distintos. Integrando-se os dados, obteve-se, com o teste de Fisher e mediante uma análise de coordenadas principais (PCoA), uma igualdade estatística entre o controle negativo e o ponto 1 e entre o ponto 2 e 3, sendo que os primeiros apresentaram baixa frequência de anormalidades cromossômicas e os últimos, médias maiores. Além disso, o ponto 1 apresentou forte influência de vegetação arbórea e os pontos 2 e 3, forte influência de área urbanizada, com expressiva degradação das áreas de preservação permanente (APPs). Os resultados confirmaram a notável interferência antrópica ao ecossistema, bem como, a importância da APP na preservação e qualidade do recurso hídrico.

Abstract Anthropic activities as well as land use and occupation are closely linked to water and soil quality. An alternative to assess their influence on water quality in water bodies is through biomonitoring using Allium cepa as a bioindicator organism. This technique allows the detection of cytogenetic abnormalities in Allium cepa root meristematic cells after contact with analyzed water samples. Thus, we evaluated the genotoxic potential of water samples from the Rio das Antas (Antas River) along the urban perimeter of the city of Irati, Paraná, Brazil. With the aid of GeoEye Satellite high-resolution fused orbital images, we searched for possible relationships between the use and occupation of land around this river. Biomonitoring was performed at three different sampling points. Statistical equality between the negative control and Point 1 and between Points 2 and 3 was obtained using Fisher's test and a Principal Coordinate Analysis (PCoA). The former presented a low frequency of abnormalities chromosomes and the latter presented larger averages. In addition, Point 1 had strong influence of tree vegetation. Points 2 and 3, demonstrated a strong influence of urbanized area, with significant degradation of permanent preservation areas (áreas de preservação permanente - (APP). The results showed remarkable anthropogenic interference to the ecosystem. Furthermore, this indicates importance of an APP watercourses functioning to preserve the quality of the water resources.

A redução das áreas verdes urbanas e o consequente aumento das áreas construídas é um dos temas mais discutidos atualmente. Tanto a dinâmica do uso do solo urbano quanto de mudanças climáticas podem comprovar relações entre diversos usos e ocupações do solo e suas consequências para o microclima local. Este trabalho apresenta uma avaliação da influência do uso da terra no clima urbano em uma cidade de pequeno porte. Foram selecionados 4 pontos abrangendo o perímetro urbano de Irati, no estado do Paraná, com diferentes ocupações, e obtidas variáveis de temperatura e umidade relativa com uso de higrômetros adaptados em abrigos termométricos em 4 horários distintos durante 4 dias. A utilização de imagens orbitais de alta resolução possibilitou o mapeamento do uso do solo urbano de áreas de abrangência num raio de 350 metros dos pontos pré-selecionados. Os resultados comprovaram, estatisticamente, que o uso e ocupação do solo interferem nas variáveis climáticas obtidas.

The reduction of urban green areas and consequent increase of the built areas is one of the most widely discussed topics nowadays. Both the urban land use dynamics and the climate changes may prove relationships between different uses and land occupations and their consequences for the local microclimate. This paper presents an assessment of the land use influence in the urban climate in a small town. A total of 4 points covering the urban perimeter of Irati, Paraná, with different occupations were selected and temperature and humidity variables obtained with use of adapted hygrometers in thermometric shelter in 4 different times for 4 days. The use of high resolution satellite images enabled the mapping of urban land use in catchment areas within a radius of 350 meters of pre-selected points. The results statistically showed that the use and occupation of land interfere with the climate variables obtained.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo identificar possíveis relações estatísticas entre o uso da terra do entorno de cinco apiários - composto por diversos pastos apícolas incluindo dois estágios de Floresta Ombrófila Mista, considerando diferentes raios de proximidade - e suas produções de mel. Foram utilizadas imagens orbitais do satélite SPOT com resolução espacial de cinco metros, para elaborar a classificação de uso da terra nas áreas de abrangência de cada apiário, empregando-se o método de classificação e interpretação por meio da vetorização sobre tela, além de trabalho de campo. Os dados obtidos foram relacionados à produção média de mel de cada apiário. Os resultados demonstraram que existem relações estatisticamente significativas entre as variações de uso da terra do entorno dos apiários, considerando-se diferentes raios de proximidade, e suas produções médias de mel.

This work aimed to identify relationships between the land use around five apiaries, composed by several bee pastures, including two stages of Araucaria Forest, for three different turning radii of surrounding areas and their honey yield. Were used SPOT satellite images with 5 meters spatial resolution to establish the land use classification, using the method of classification and interpretation through vectorization on screen and field work. The obtained data were related to the honey average yield, per apiary. The results demonstrated that there are significant statistical relationships between the different land uses around the apiaries, for different surrounding range areas, and their average honey yield.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi buscar associações entre os parâmetros de qualidade da água e a identificação de prováveis agentes poluidores em uma bacia hidrográfica do Sudoeste do Paraná. Foram espacializadas informações sobre a área de estudo, estabelecendo relações entre componentes do uso da terra rural e urbano, e os resultados apresentados pelas análises fisicoquímicas e biológicas realizadas em dois pontos amostrais do Rio Santa Rosa. ABSTRACT The overall objective of this work was to seek an association between the parameters of water quality and the identification of possible pollutants in a watershed in the southwest of the State of Parana. ABSTRACT All classes of land cover and usage of an urban site have been mapped through ‘Quickbird’ image of 61 cm of space resolution for the study of a hydrologic basin. The objective of this study is to generate a detailed map of land cover and usage of the basin of “Arroio dos Pereiras” stream, located in Irati, State of Parana, Brazil, and also to quantify all the classes considered on the mapping. The acquired results will support other studies on possible flood occurrences in the central region of the city. RESUMO Foram mapeadas sete classes de uso e cobertura do solo da composição urbana por meio de imagens orbitais do satélite Quickbird para estudo de bacia hidrográfica situada em área urbana. Foi objetivo deste estudo gerar uma Carta de Uso e Ocupação do Solo em nível detalhado da Bacia do Arroio dos Pereiras, Irati-PR, as áreas das classes utilizadas e respectivos percentuais, fornecendo subsídios a estudos sobre possíveis ocorrências de enchentes na região central do Município de Irati, Paraná. RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma análise comparativa entre os critérios de desempenho operacional do veículo e a menor distância na determinação da rota ótima no transporte florestal rodoviário, com auxílio de um sistema de informações geográficas. Inicialmente, foram realizadas a vetorização e a classificação de uma rede de estradas em uma empresa florestal. Em seguida, com auxílio do software Spring, versão 4.0, realizaram oito simulações de rota ótima de transporte, partindo-se de diferentes pontos locados ao acaso na área de estudo para um único destino. Os resultados indicaram que não houve diferença significativa na produtividade e no custo do transporte florestal entre os critérios analisados. Por outro lado, os resultados mostraram que o desempenho operacional foi o critério mais eficiente na determinação da rota ótima de transporte, comprovando a teoria de que nem sempre a menor distância é a mais econômica.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to make a comparative analysis between the criteria of vehicle operational performance and lesser distance in the determination of the ideal route of forest road transportation, with aid of a geographic information system. Initially it was carried out the vector acquisition and the classification of a net of roads in a forest company. Subsequently, with aid of Spring software, version 4.0, there were conducted eight simulation of ideal route of transport, starting at different points romdomly located in the area of study and with a single destination. The results indicated that there is no significant difference of productivity and cost of transportation among the analyzed criteria. On the other hand, the results showed that the operational performance was the criteria most efficient in the determination of the ideal route of transport, proving the theory that not always the lesser distance is the most economic choice.

O presente artigo trata do delineamento semi-automático de copas de árvores através de suas sombras periféricas observadas em fotografia aérea de alta resolução. O estudo foi realizado em área de dois hectares de Floresta Ombrófila Mista da Floresta Nacional de Irati, PR, utilizando-se a técnica de interpretação, nos formatos analógico e digital, em uma fotografia aérea de 70 mm colorida normal, na escala de 1:1.000, e dados obtidos em campo. A metodologia consistiu na transformação das três bandas originais da fotografia colorida digital em apenas uma e na separação da componente sombra dos demais alvos restantes da imagem, através de um limiar. A partir dos resultados, verificou-se que: a) as sombras podem ser visualizadas em clareiras existentes na floresta, entre os galhos e entre as copas das árvores; b) a imagem resultante evidencia a inconsistência de se mapearem as copas exclusivamente pelas sombras periféricas; c) o resultado insatisfatório foi atribuído ao tipo de floresta natural considerado; d) a técnica mostrou-se promissora como ferramenta adicional de realce de imagem; e e) faz-se necessário desenvolver maior número de pesquisas para se obterem resultados conclusivos.

This paper deals with the semi automatic delineation of crowns of trees on high resolution aerial photograph using their peripheral shadows. The study was carried out on 2 hectares of native Araucaria forest due to the avaliability of field data and the interpretation, in analogic and digital formats, of a 70 mm 1:1.000 high resolution aerial photograh . The methodology consisted in the transformation of the 3 original bands of the digital color photograph in only one, and then, through a threshold, the shadow component was separated from the other targets. From the results obtained, the main conclusions reached were: a) the shadows were due to the open areas on the forest among the branches and the crowns of the trees; b) the resultant image evidenced the inconsistency to delineate the crowns exclusively through their peripheral shadows; c) the inadequate result may be related to the type of natural forest and not to the technique itself; d) the used technique showed promising as an additional enhancement technique, and e) it is necessary to carry out more research in order to obtain conclusive results.
