ABSTRACT Objective: Describe the development, implementation, and utilization of dashboards for epidemiological analysis through open data research during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The dashboards were designed to analyze COVID-19 related public data from various sources, including official government data and social media, at world level. Data processing and cleaning techniques were used to join datasets. We calculated Spearman correlation coefficient between the COVID-like symptoms data of the University of Maryland and Facebook Health research, called COVID Trends and Impacts Survey (CTIS) and the official data of notified COVID-19 cases by the Brazilian Health Ministry. Results: The dashboards were successful in predicting the onset of new waves of COVID-19 in Brazil. The data analysis revealed a correlation between the CTIS and the official number of cases the country. This article shows the potential of interactive dashboards as a decision-making tool in the context of public health emergencies, as it was used by the official communication of the Rio Grande do Sul state government. ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro gas production from three pearl millet cultivars submitted to four nitrogen levels. The treatments consisted of three pearl millet cultivars (ADR 500, ADR 7020, and LABH 70732) and four nitrogen levels (0, 50, 100, and 200 kg/ha), using urea as the nitrogen source. A 3 x 4 factorial experimental design, employing a randomized block setup, was used to assess both gas production and digestibility. No interaction was observed between nitrogen doses and fermentative parameters on in vitro gas production from the dry matter of pearl millet cultivars. Nitrogen had no impact on the dry matter content or chemical composition of the cultivars. Consistency prevailed in the chemical composition across the various cultivars, a trend that extended to the gas production rates for both soluble and insoluble contents. Notably, nitrogen fertilizer exerted an influence on the fermentation pattern of organic matter, gas production, and lag time for the cultivars. RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar a produção “in vitro” de gás de três cultivares de milheto forrageiro sob adubação nitrogenada. Os tratamentos foram constituídos por três cultivares de milheto: (ADR 500, ADR 7020 e LABH 70732) e quatro doses de N(ureia) (0; 50; 100 e 200 kg/ha). Para as avaliações da produção de gases e digestibilidade o delineamento experimental foi blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 3 x 4, com quatro repetições. Não houve interação entre as doses de adubação nitrogenada e os parâmetros fermentativos da produção de gases “in vitro” da matéria seca das cultivares de milheto. A adubação nitrogenada não influenciou os teores de matéria seca ou a composição bromatológica das cultivares. Não houve diferenças na composição bromatológica entre as cultivares. Abstract: This study aimed to develop and validate an instrument to analyze adults’ knowledge about metabolic syndrome. The instrument was developed via documentary research, resulting in 40 statements with Likert-type responses, organized into three domains: (1) knowledge about obesity and related diseases; (2) knowledge about risk factors; and (3) knowledge about protective factors. Experts’ analysis of the construct and testing on 600 participants were used to validate the instrument. Exploratory factor analysis indicated that six assertions had very low factor loadings and were excluded, resulting in 34 assertions. The final version of the instrument presented satisfactory internal consistency indicators, guaranteeing the first evidence of the instrument accuracy in assessing adults’ knowledge about metabolic syndrome. Abstract Heliconia psittacorum is a plant that stands out in tropical floriculture due to its inflorescence with bracts of different colors and its high ornamental value. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of nitrogen applied under different management methods on the development of heliconia plants (H. psittacorum). The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, in the soil science area, from May to December 2018, at the Belém Campus of the Federal Rural University of Amazonia (UFRA). A completely randomized design was used, in a 4 x 2 factorial scheme, distributed over 5 replications. The factors were 4 doses of nitrogen fertilization (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg ha-1 of N) and 2 types of soil (conventional cultivation and forest). The variables used to analyze the treatments were: height, pseudostem diameter, fresh weight of the pseudostem, flower stem, leaves, rhizome and root. The results of the experiment were subjected to analysis of variance, compared using the Tukey test, where appropriate, and regression studies by adjusting the equations according to the doses of N used. There were significant differences in all the variables studied. Resumo A Heliconia psittacorum é uma planta que possui destaque na floricultura tropical devido a sua inflorescência com brácteas de diversas colora-ções e seu elevado atributo ornamental. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência do nitrogênio aplicado, sobre diferentes manejos, no desenvol-vimento de plantas de helicônia (H. psittacorum). O experimento foi desenvolvido em casa de vegetação, na área de ciências do solo, no período de maio a dezembro de 2018, no Campus Belém da Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia (UFRA). Foi utilizado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 4 x 2, distribuído em 5 repetições. Os fatores foram 4 doses de adubação nitrogenada (0, 20, 40 e 60 kg ha-1 de N) e 2 tipos de solo (cultivo convencional e de mata). Abstract The metalworking industry faces challenges in maintaining process performance due to variables affecting product quality, particularly in processes requiring precise control over machined part finishes. Duplex stainless steels, known for their high strength, work hardening, and low thermal conductivity, pose specific machining challenges that can hinder producing high-quality components and equipment. This study aimed to determine optimal parameters for end milling of duplex stainless steel UNS S32205. Formulated as a combined objective function derived from minimizing the mean square error (MSE) for parameters Ra and ßf, subject to a common constraint. The optimization was conducted using generalized reduced gradient (GRG). A Pareto frontier was constructed, offering efficient results with Ra = 0.4534 μιη and Rt = 3.2671 μιη for varying weights assigned to Ra and Rt. Adjusting weights in the objective function allowed prioritization based on specific needs. In plasma nitriding of cutting tools, edge embrittlement can result from both, deepest layer, and grain boundaries precipitation. Overheating and surface charge density concentration in Direct Current Plasma Nitrided (DCPN) can be reduced through an indirect source of plasma, called Active Screen Plasma Nitriding (ASPN). The removal of the oxide layer from previous processes, such as heat treatment, is required in DCPN samples. This metallographic preparation can be a challenge in more delicate locations, such as on edges. This preliminary step is not usually described in studies comparing DCPN with ASPN. ABSTRACT Objective: the study analyzes the main factors associated with innovation capacity in courts. Methods: the research design involves a qualitative investigation based on in-depth interviews with 17 judges and 13 staff members of the Brazilian judiciary. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis. Results: the study corroborates previous research on innovation capacity in the public sector and demonstrates the prominence of certain factors in boosting this capacity, namely: leadership, team behavior, collaboration, organizational resources, knowledge management, and information technology. Conclusions: the findings show that having people who are skilled in innovation methods and techniques, with available time, engagement, and participation both as team members and in leadership positions, is important for the innovation capacity of courts. Abstract The storm risks in coastal regions have drawn attention worldwide in recent decades. Understanding the characteristics and behavior of these events and their potential damage to coasts has become essential for decision-making and coastal management. This study aimed to identify and examine the climatology of coastal storms on the central coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, proposing a classification and a coastal impact evaluation that applies Dolan and Davis’ ( 1992 ) storm index. For this, 34 years of NOAA/NCEP/NCAR hindcast wave database were used (1979 - 2013). Secondarily, this study aimed to compare wave data at two locations (the south-orientated west and the east-northeast-orientated east coasts) to verify the influence of coastal orientation against storm events. This research found 231 storm events on the west coast and 44 on the east coast. While mean durations resembled each other (at around 27 hours), the east coast had a 9% lower mean storm wave height. The storm peak direction from the south predominated on the west coast (52%), whereas a south-southeast direction dominated the east coast (50%). Storm classification showed 3.4 and 9% of storms considered Extreme in the west and east, respectively. Extreme storms include those in September 1983, May 1997, May 2001, and April 2010. Coastal storms on the west and east represented 2.39 and 0.57% of all cyclones identified in the southwestern Atlantic. Abstract Stainless steels enjoy a favorable scenario for applications in various fields of engineering. The proper choice of welding parameters for these metals can result in greater productivity through increased equipment life. Thus, the objective of this work is to evaluate the influence of heat input on the microstructure present in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of welded steel joints, through metallographic characterization and mechanical tests. The analyzed material is stainless steel plates, welded by the GMAW process, varying the thermal inputs. After this step, the plates were cut, prepared, metallographic analyses, mechanical tensile and bending tests performed. The quantification of phases presents in the heat-affected zone, of the three conditions experienced, 4.2 kJ/cm, 6.7 kJ/cm 9.1 kJ/cm and base metal, were carried out in this study, as well as the mechanical properties of the welded joints. Resumo Os aços inoxidáveis desfrutam de um cenário propicio para aplicações em variados campos da engenharia. A escolha adequada dos parâmetros de soldagem destes metais pode resultar numa maior produtividade através do aumento da vida útil dos equipamentos. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar a influência do aporte térmico na microestrutura presente na zona afetada pelo calor (ZAC) das juntas soldadas do aço, através de caracterização metalográfica e ensaios mecânicos. O material analisado são chapas de aço inoxidáveis, soldadas pelo processo GMAW, variando os aportes térmicos. Após essa etapa, as chapas foram cortadas, preparadas, realizadas análises metalográficas, ensaios mecânicos de tração e dobramento. A quantificação de fases presentes na zona afetada pelo calor, das três condições experimentadas, 4,2 kJ/cm, 6,7 kJ/cm 9,1 kJ/cm e metal base, foram realizadas nesse estudo, como também as propriedades mecânicas das juntas soldadas. Verificado que as taxas de resfriamento não foram suficientes para provocar mudanças microestruturais significativas no balanço das fases ferrita e martensita, encontradas na ZAC. O artigo destaca o potencial de painéis interativos como uma ferramenta de tomada de decisão no contexto de emergências de saúde pública, como, por exemplo, no uso destes para a comunicação oficial do governo do Rio Grande do Sul. Conclusão: O uso de painéis para prever o avanço da COVID-19 no Brasil foi uma ferramenta útil para a tomada de decisão. A antecipação de ondas da doença possibilita tempo oportuno para que essas decisões sejam potencialmente mais assertivas. Isso esboça a necessidade de mais ações interdisciplinares dessa natureza, com ferramentas de visualização nas pesquisas epidemiológicas.

ABSTRACT Objective: Describe the development, implementation, and utilization of dashboards for epidemiological analysis through open data research during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The dashboards were designed to analyze COVID-19 related public data from various sources, including official government data and social media, at world level. Data processing and cleaning techniques were used to join datasets. We calculated Spearman correlation coefficient between the COVID-like symptoms data of the University of Maryland and Facebook Health research, called COVID Trends and Impacts Survey (CTIS) and the official data of notified COVID-19 cases by the Brazilian Health Ministry. Results: The dashboards were successful in predicting the onset of new waves of COVID-19 in Brazil. The data analysis revealed a correlation between the CTIS and the official number of cases the country. This article shows the potential of interactive dashboards as a decision-making tool in the context of public health emergencies, as it was used by the official communication of the Rio Grande do Sul state government. Conclusion: The use of dashboards for predicting the spread of COVID-19 in Brazil was a useful tool for decision-making. To anticipate waves of the disease gives time so that these decisions can be potentially more assertive. This drafts the need of more interdisciplinary actions of this nature, with visualization tools on epidemiologic research.

Resumo Introdução: A tatuagem, é um fenômeno antropológico presente em diversas sociedades, cujas modificações relacionam-se às motivações, significados, símbolos e traços dependentes do contexto histórico e sociocultural. No entanto, o preconceito ainda é referido. Com a flexibilização dos costumes, a medicina tem absorvido em seus quadros corporativos jovens tatuados ou com o desejo de tatuar o próprio corpo. Objetivos: analisar a tipologia e motivações para uso de tatuagens por docentes e estudantes de graduação em medicina, a relação com a identidade profissional, e os efeitos no cotidiano. Metodologia: Estudo de caso, qualitativo com triangulação de métodos: questionários on-line; escala de atitudes; fotografia reflexiva; software Iramuteq. Resultados: O uso de tatuagens relaciona-se com variáveis como gênero (mulheres > homens), faixa etária (discentes > docentes) e religião (não cristãos > cristãos). A identidade profissional não é o motivo principal na escolha da tatuagem predominando as memórias afetivas e símbolos indicativos de espiritualidade. A autonomia é determinante na tomada de decisão e mostra duplo padrão: um tradicional, prudencial, dependente da aquisição de autonomia posterior à graduação e presente entre os docentes; outro anterior ao ingresso na universidade. A tolerância na forma de indiferença predomina ao lado do preconceito, notado e vivenciado por discentes e docentes. Conclusão: O relativismo moral, indicado pelas atitudes de tolerância e indiferença, demanda das instituições formadoras e reguladoras da profissão, a reflexão ética sobre princípios e valores relacionados à progressiva identificação com a profissão durante a formação: respeito, tolerância, autonomia do médico, autocuidado, e responsabilidade nas relações no trabalho. A metodologia adotada, de triangulação, foi importante para superar as dificuldades impostas pela pandemia e para a compreensão adequada do tema estudado.

Abstract Introduction: Tattooing is an anthropological phenomenon present in several societies, whose modifications are related to motivations, meanings, symbols and traits dependent on the historical and sociocultural context. However, prejudice is still referred to. With the flexibilization of customs, medicine has absorbed in its corporate cadres young tattooed or with the desire to tattoo the body itself. Objectives: to analyze the typology and motivations for the use of tattoos by professors and undergraduate students in medicine, the relationship with professional identity, and the effects on daily life. Methods: Qualitative case study with triangulation of methods: online questionnaires; scale of attitudes; reflective photography; Iramuteq software. Results: The use of tattoos is related to variables such as gender (women > men), age group (students > teachers) and religion (non-Christians > Christians). Professional identity is not the main reason for choosing a tattoo. Affective memories and symbols indicative of spirituality are the main motives. Autonomy is determinant in decision-making and shows a double standard: a traditional, prudential, dependent on the acquisition of autonomy after graduation and present among teachers; another prior to entering university. Tolerance in the form of indifference predominates alongside prejudice, noticed and experienced by students and teachers. Conclusion: Moral relativism, indicated by attitudes of tolerance and indifference, demand of the institutions that form and regulate the profession, ethical reflection on principles and values related to progressive identification with the profession during training: respect, tolerance, autonomy of the doctor, self-care, and responsibility in relationships at work. The methodology adopted, of triangulation, was important to overcome the difficulties imposed by the pandemic and to adequately understand the studied subject.

Resumen Introducción: Las personas físicamente activas parecen tener mejores indicadores de salud mental y estrés en comparación con personas con actividad física insuficiente. Sin embargo, el análisis de la práctica de actividad física y los indicadores de salud mental de trabajadores del sector bancario no ha sido explorado durante la pandemia por COVID-19. Objetivo: Analizar los puntajes de depresión, ansiedad, estrés y actividad física en trabajadores del sector bancario durante la pandemia por COVID-19. Método: Se aplicó una estrategia comparativa asociativa con 21 trabajadores del sector bancario (24-44 años, 71.4 % mujeres) en una ciudad del Nordeste de Brasil. Se aplicó un cuestionario en línea explorando información sociodemográfica y antropométrica, indicadores de ansiedad, depresión y estrés (EADS-21), función laboral y nivel de actividad física. La correlación entre las puntuaciones del EADS-21 y el nivel de actividad física se obtuvo mediante el coeficiente Rho de Spearman. Además, la comparación de indicadores entre personas adultas insuficientemente activas y físicamente activas se realizó mediante la prueba U de Mann-Whitney. Resultados: El nivel de actividad física mostró una correlación débil y inversa con las puntuaciones de ansiedad (Rho= −0.15), depresión (Rho= −0.35) y estrés (Rho= −0.11). Además, se encontró que no hubo diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre personas trabajadoras insuficientemente activas en el sector bancario vs. físicamente activas, en relación con la ansiedad (P= 0.719), la depresión (P= 0.548) o el estrés (P= 0.842). Conclusión: Los indicadores de salud mental y estrés se asociaron inversamente con la práctica habitual de actividad física. Además, las puntuaciones de ansiedad, depresión y estrés fueron similares entre personas trabajadoras bancarias físicamente activas e insuficientemente activas.

Resumo Introdução: Indivíduos fisicamente ativos parecem apresentar melhores indicadores de saúde mental e estresse em comparação a seus congêneres com prática insuficiente de atividade física. Contudo, a análise da prática de atividade física e de indicadores de saúde mental de trabalhadores do setor bancário não tem sido explorada durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Objetivo: Analisar escores de depressão, ansiedade, estresse e da prática de atividade física em trabalhadores do setor bancário durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Método: Uma estratégia comparativa associativa foi empregada com 21 trabalhadores do setor bancário (24-44 anos, 71,4% mulheres) de uma cidade do Nordeste brasileiro. Um questionário on-line foi aplicado explorando informações sociodemográficas, antropométricas, indicadores de ansiedade, depressão e estresse (EADS-21), de função laboral e do nível de atividade física. A correlação entre os escores EADS-21 e o nível de atividade física foi obtida pelo coeficiente Rho de Spearman e a comparação dos indicadores entre trabalhadores insuficientemente ativos e fisicamente ativos foi realizada pelo teste U de Mann-Whitney. Resultados: O nível de atividade física apresentou uma correlação fraca e inversa com os escores de ansiedade (Rho= −0,15), depressão (Rho= −0,35) e de estresse (Rho= −0,11). Além disso, verificou-se que não houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre os trabalhadores do setor bancário insuficientemente ativos vs. fisicamente ativos em relação à ansiedade (P= 0,719), depressão (P= 0,548) ou estresse (P= 0,842). Conclusão: Os indicadores de saúde mental e estresse foram inversamente associados à prática regular de atividade física. Em adição, os níveis de ansiedade, depressão e estresse foram similares entre trabalhadores do setor bancário fisicamente ativos e insuficientemente ativos.

Abstract Introduction: Physically active individuals seem to have better indicators of mental health and stress compared to their insufficient physical activity peers. However, the analysis of physical activity levels and mental health indicators of bank employees has not been explored during the COVID-19 pandemic. Objective: To analyze depression, anxiety, stress, and physical activity scores in bank employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: An associative comparative strategy was applied with 21 bank employees (24-44 years, 71.4% women) in a city in Northeast Brazil. An online questionnaire was applied exploring sociodemographic and anthropometric information, indicators of anxiety, depression, and stress (EADS-21), occupational function, and physical activity levels. The correlation between the EADS-21 scores and the physical activity levels was obtained using Spearman's Rho coefficient and the comparison of indicators between insufficiently active and physically active workers was performed using the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The physical activity levels showed a weak and inverse correlation with anxiety (Rho= −0.15), depression (Rho= −0.35), and stress (Rho= −0.11) scores. In addition, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference between insufficiently active vs. physically active bank employees concerning anxiety (P= 0.719), depression (P= 0.548), or stress (P= 0.842). Conclusion: Mental health and stress indicators were inversely associated with regular physical activity levels. In addition, scores of anxiety, depression, and stress were similar between physically active and insufficiently active bank employees.

Resumo Este estudo investiga alguns ensaios bíblicos de Johann Gottfried von Herder com o fim de pormenorizar o surgimento do conceito de “espírito” (Geist) em sua filosofia e de salientar como essa concepção simultaneamente se insere e redefine a tradição judaico-cristã sobre o tema. Para tanto, são analisados os textos Lieder der Liebe, Vom Geist der Ebräischen Poesie e Von der Gabe der Sprachen am ersten christlichen Pfingstfest a partir dos quais o espírito é pensado, ao longo de três décadas (entre 1778 a 1794), respectivamente como: poesia popular, vitalidade social, organicidade e cultura. É possível afirmar que os ensaios bíblicos de Herder ultrapassam a teologia, investigando, de maneira laica, as especificidades das religiões, das línguas, das tradições ou das culturas, cujas nuances podem esclarecer ou questionar dicotomias relevantes, tais como: natureza-cultura, cultura-civilização ou até mesmo humanidade-animalidade.

Abstract This article investigates some biblical essays of Johann Gottfried von Herder in order to demonstrate the emergence of the concept of “spirit” (Geist) in his philosophy and stresses how this conception simultaneously fits in and redefines the Judeo-Christian tradition on the subject. The article analyses the texts Lieder der Liebe, Vom Geist der Ebräischen Poesie and Von der Gabe der Sprachen am ersten christliche Pfingstfest, as starting points in which “spirit” is thought over three decades (from 1778 to 1794) respectively as: popular poetry, social vitality, organicity and culture. In that respect Herder's biblical essays overpass theology, investigating, in a secular way, the specificities of religions, languages, traditions or cultures, whose nuances may discern and question relevant dichotomies, such as: nature-culture, culture-civilization, or even humanity-animality.
