Resumo O presente trabalho tem como tema a influência das mudanças climáticas nos conflitos do Sudão, em especial em Darfur. Desde a conquista da independência, em 1956, o Sudão teve de lidar com disputas tanto na região Sul (que culminou com a separação do Sudão do Sul, em 2011), quanto em Darfur, resultando em um conflito aberto em 2003. Nos últimos dois decênios, as mudanças climáticas passaram a ser consideradas crescentemente como potenciais fatores de exacerbação dessas tensões locais. Diante disso, busca-se responder à seguinte questão: quais são as implicações das mudanças climáticas para o panorama securitário do Sudão, particularmente em Darfur? Em termos teóricos, o artigo adota a perspectiva crítica de segurança, com a finalidade de compreender o caráter multidimensional das fontes não tradicionais de ameaça à segurança do país, como a ameaça climática. Em termos metodológicos, fez-se uso de uma abordagem qualitativa e hermenêutica, com a análise de relatórios de órgãos da ONU, de documentos do governo sudanês e de outras obras. Embora os fenômenos climáticos tenham contribuído para a exacerbação da instabilidade no Sudão e das disputas em Darfur, conclui-se que sua influência ocorreu de forma indireta, em conjugação com outras dimensões sociais, econômicas e políticas. Entende-se, porém, que a inclusão dos aspectos climáticos seria uma ferramenta importante para se reduzir a instabilidade local.

Ante esto, buscamos responder la siguiente pregunta: ¿cuáles son las implicaciones del cambio climático para el panorama de seguridad de Sudán, particularmente en Darfur? En términos teóricos, el artículo adopta una perspectiva crítica de seguridad, con el objetivo de comprender el carácter multidimensional de las fuentes no tradicionales de amenazas a la seguridad del país, como la amenaza climática. En términos metodológicos, se utilizó un enfoque cualitativo y hermenéutico, con el análisis de informes de organizaciones internacionales y documentos del gobierno sudanés, además de otros trabajos académicos. Si bien los fenómenos climáticos han contribuido a la exacerbación de la inestabilidad en Sudán, sobre todo las disputas en Darfur, se concluye que su influencia se produjo de manera indirecta, en conjunto con otras dimensiones sociales, económicas y políticas. Se entiende, sin embargo, que la inclusión de aspectos climáticos sería una herramienta importante para reducir la inestabilidad local.

Abstract The central theme of this article is the influence of climate change on the conflicts in Sudan, especially in Darfur. After gaining independence in 1956, Sudan has had to deal with disputes in both the southern region (culminating in the separation of South Sudan in 2011) and in Darfur, resulting in open conflict in 2003. In the last two decades, climate change has increasingly come to be seen as a potential factor exacerbating these local tensions. In the light of this, we seek to answer the following question: what are the implications of climate change for Sudan’s security panorama, particularly in Darfur? In theoretical terms, the article adopts a critical security perspective, with the objective of understanding the multidimensional nature of non-traditional sources of threat to the country's security, such as the climate threat. In methodological terms, a qualitative and hermeneutical approach was used, with the analysis of reports from International Organizations and documents from the Sudanese government, in addition to other academic works. Although climate phenomena have contributed to the exacerbation of instability in Sudan, especially the disputes in Darfur, it is concluded that their influence occurred indirectly, in conjunction with other social, economic and political elements. In our view, the inclusion of climatic aspects would be an important tool to reduce local instability.

Resumo Introdução: A doença pulmonar obstrutiva crónica (DPOC) é a terceira causa de mortalidade a nível global. O tratamento foca-se na melhoria da qualidade de vida, atraso da progressão da doença e redução das exacerbações. Neste contexto, o benefício da reabilitação respiratória tem vindo a ser verificado. Esta medida não farmacológica pode ser implementada na comunidade, no contexto dos cuidados de saúde primários. Objetivos: Esta revisão sistemática propôs-se a fazer um levantamento da evidência atual sobre o impacto da reabilitação pulmonar na qualidade de vida dos doentes com DPOC, num contexto de cuidados de saúde primários. Métodos: Foram pesquisados estudos randomizados controlados em três bases de dados. Foi incluída a reabilitação pulmonar realizada na comunidade e excluídas intervenções em contexto hospitalar. Foi considerado como resultado primário a qualidade de vida relacionada com a saúde comparando com a terapêutica padrão da DPOC. A extração e triagem de dados foi efetuada por três autores, de forma independente. Avaliou-se o viés pela Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool. Resultados: Quatro estudos corresponderam aos critérios de pesquisa. Três estudos reportaram benefício em pelo menos um dos resultados. A frequência e duração da reabilitação pareceram ter algum impacto nos resultados. A mortalidade foi mais alta nos grupos de controlo. Os estudos incluídos tinham limitações importantes, nomeadamente a incapacidade de realizar intervenções cegas. Conclusões: A reabilitação pulmonar em cuidados de saúde primários melhora a qualidade de vida e capacidade funcional na DPOC. A duração, frequência e modalidade ótimas da intervenção não estão definidas e poderão depender de características individuais. Embora o paradigma não se altere, espera-se que esta revisão fomente o interesse na intervenção.

Abstract Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death worldwide, and its management involves improving quality of life, delaying progression, and minimizing exacerbations. The benefit of pulmonary rehabilitation in COPD has been documented in the literature. This intervention can be applied to a primary healthcare setting, using community resources. Objectives: This systematic review sought to compile current evidence implying the impact of pulmonary rehabilitation in a primary healthcare setting on the quality of life of patients with COPD. Methods: Three databases were searched for randomized controlled trials. We included community-based pulmonary rehabilitation and excluded interventions in a hospital setting. The primary outcome was health-related quality of life; secondary outcomes were functional exercise capacity and mortality. Data extraction and triage were performed independently by three authors, and bias was evaluated using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool. Results: Four studies met the search criteria. Three studies reported benefits in at least one of the outcomes; a fourth reported no differences between groups. Rehabilitation frequency and duration seemed to have some impact on all outcomes. Mortality was higher in the control groups when available. The included studies had important limitations, namely the inability to blind interventions. Conclusions: Pulmonary rehabilitation in a primary health care setting benefits the quality of life and functional exercise capacity in COPD patients. Optimal treatment modality, frequency, and duration are yet to be defined and are perhaps reliant on individual patient attributes. Though unable to add to previous findings, we hope this review fosters interest in this potentially life-changing intervention in a primary healthcare context.

ABSTRACT Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) have great genetic variability that contribute to higher production and root quality. Sweet potato farmers in the Western region of São Paulo state, Brazil, plant during the four seasons and have used the same genotypes for two decades. Thus, research is needed to evaluate new genotypes and indicate the most promising ones. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify the adaptability and stability of sweet potato genotypes in six planting seasons: September 2019, January 2020, April 2020, September 2020, October 2020, and December 2020 in Western São Paulo using the linear regression methodology proposed by Eberhart & Russell (1966) and the centroid method. We evaluated 17 genotypes, two experimental genotypes from the germplasm bank of the University of Western São Paulo and two genotypes that have been cultivated for more than two decades by farmers (Canadense and Ligeirinha Paulista). The results show that Canadense, IAPAR 69, and SCS 272 Marina can be considered widely adapted in the Western region of São Paulo (favorable and unfavorable environments). Os agricultores de batata-doce do Oeste Paulista, Brasil, plantam durante as quatro estações e utilizam há duas décadas os mesmos genótipos. Desse modo, são necessárias pesquisas que visem avaliar novos genótipos e indicar os mais promissores. Portanto, objetiva-se identificar a adaptabilidade e estabilidade de genótipos de batata-doce em seis épocas de plantio: Setembro de 2019, Janeiro de 2020, Abril de 2020, Setembro de 2020, Outubro de 2020 e Dezembro de 2020 no Oeste Paulista, por meio da metodologia da regressão linear proposta por Eberhart & Russell (1966) e pelo método Centróide. Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effects of application time and addition of diuron to clethodim and diquat on the control of sourgrass. Two experiments were conducted with sourgrass plants, applying spray solutions comprising the herbicide clethodim (216 g a.i. ha-1), clethodim + diquat (216 + 400 g a.i. ha-1), and clethodim + diquat + diuron (216 + 400 + 400 g a.i. ha-1) three times (08:00, 12:00, and 16:00) in addition to the control. Control and mass evaluations of sourgrass plants were performed in both experiments, and the relative rate of linear electron transport by PSII and leaf accumulation of hydrogen peroxide were evaluated in the greenhouse experiment. The results indicated an increase in sourgrass control with the addition of diuron to the mixture, resulting in 100% control in the application performed at 16:00. Spray solutions containing photosystem inhibitors should be applied at 08:00 and 16:00 to improve plant control. These mixtures applied under lower light intensity showed greater inhibition of the relative electron transfer rate and increased H2O2 concentrations with greater accumulation of this reactive oxygen species (ROS; 17894.17 nmol g-1 FM) after the application of clethodim + diquat + diuron at 16:00. Aim This study was performed to compare two different rat defect models (critical calvaria defects versus guided bone regeneration in the mandibular ramus) used to evaluate bone repair in grafted areas. Methods A total of 12 rats were allocated in two groups according the experimental model used to evaluate the bone repair in grafted areas: a critical sized-calvaria defect of 5 mm filled with bone graft (n=6) and a mandibular ramus filled with the bone graft associated with a Teflon dome-shaped membrane (n=6). Both groups were grafted with deproteinized bovine bone graft. After 60 days, the animals were euthanized and the samples obtained were submitted to histomorphometry analysis to evaluate the relative amount of bone, remaining bone substitute, and soft tissue within the grafted areas. Results No differences were observed between the preclinical models evaluated in relation to the amount of bone tissue formation (19.93 ± 4.55% in calvaria vs. 21.00 ± 8.20% in mandible). However, there was a smaller amount of soft tissue (43.20 ± 10.97% vs. 57.79 ± 7.61 %; p<0.01) and a greater amount of bone substitute remaining (35.80 ± 5.52% vs. 22.28 ± 4.36 %; p<0.05) in the grafted areas in the mandible compared to calvaria defect. Abstract This is an Integrative Review, covering 2020 and 2022, intending to analyze global public policies implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic to safeguard the health and human rights of migrants and refugees. The analysis was based on 24 articles out of 424 retrieved from the databases: Pubmed, Scopus, VHL, and Wiley. From the analysis, three thematic axes emerged: Health, Work, and Social Protection. The measures adopted by the States were multiple and heterogeneous, varying according to each individual's reality and migratory status, as a way of providing or depriving them of access to health, work, and social security policies. In this way, such policies also served as processes of stratification and biopolitical control. Therefore, it is necessary to overcome structural barriers and resolve inequalities, combat xenophobia and racism, and fully apply the provisions of international treaties, and protect these populations against arbitrary acts. Resumo Trata-se de uma Revisão Integrativa, com recorte entre 2020 e 2022, com objetivo de análise das políticas públicas globais implementadas durante a pandemia de Covid-19 para salvaguardar a saúde e os direitos humanos de migrantes e refugiados. A análise foi baseada em 24 artigos de 424 recuperados das bases de dados: Pubmed, Scopus, BVS e Wiley. A partir da análise, emergiram três eixos temáticos: Saúde, Trabalho e Proteção Social. As medidas adotadas pelos Estados foram múltiplas e heterogêneas, variando a cada realidade e status migratório dos indivíduos, como forma de oportunizar ou privar seu acesso às políticas de saúde, trabalho e seguridade social. Dessa forma, tais políticas também serviram como processos de estratificação e controle biopolítico. ABSTRACT: Rabies is a fatal viral disease that affects animals and humans and is widespread among national ecological systems. We describe the anatomopathological and immunohistochemical findings of a case of rabies in a jaguarundi (Herpailurus yagouaroundi) found in a rural peri-domestic area after showing aggression and attacking two animals. Histopathology of brain tissue showed lymphoplasmacytic meningoencephalitis associated with intracytoplasmic eosinophilic inclusion bodies in neurons, gliosis and neuronophagia. The diagnosis of rabies was based on the lesions and confirmed by immunohistochemistry and qPCR. In Brazil, rabies in wild felines of the genus Puma has only been described in animals through serological examinations. The pathological findings are essential for the diagnosis and elucidation of the participation of this species in the wild cycle of the disease, as well as in the maintenance and conservation of the balance of wild fauna. RESUMO: A raiva é uma doença viral fatal que afeta animais e o homem, estando disseminada entre os sistemas ecológicos nacionais. Descrevem-se os achados anatomopatológicos e imuno-histoquímicos de um caso de raiva em um jaguarundi (Herpailurus yagouaroundi), encontrado em área peridomiciliar rural, após apresentar agressividade e ataque a dois animais. Microscopicamente, observou-se meningoencefalite linfoplasmocítica associada a corpúsculos de inclusão intracitoplasmáticos eosinofílicos em neurônios, gliose e neuronofagia. O diagnóstico de raiva foi estabelecido pelos achados patológicos e confirmado por imuno-histoquímica e qPCR. A ocorrência de raiva em felinos silvestres do gênero Puma só foi descrita por meio de exames sorológicos. Abstract Introduction Due to its positive results on bone tissue, strontium also began to be used as an adjuvant in bone neoformation processes, mainly maxillofacial surgical procedures. Objective To assess if the non-radioactive strontium (Sr) supplementation enhances the osseointegration of titanium implants in rats. Material and method Seventy male rats (Rattus Norvegicus) were randomly divided into 5 groups, according to the systemic supplementation: Control - saline solution; SRAN50 - strontium ranelate (SRAN) 50mg/kg/day; SRAN625 - SRAN 625mg/kg/day; SCAR/SCHL30 - strontium carbonate and strontium chloride (SCAR/SCHL) 30mg/kg/day; SCAR/SCHL365 - SCAR/SCHL 365mg/kg/day. The drugs were administered via gavage, once a day, starting 15 days before surgery (1 titanium implant in each tibia), and persisted for 15 or 60 days. The right tibiae were used for biomechanical (removal torque) and immunohistochemical (Osteocalcin – OCN, and bone morphogenetic protein - BMP-2) evaluation. The left were used for microtomographic, and histomorphometric evaluation. Result Increased removal torque for SRAN625 and SCAR/SCHL365 were observed when compared with the Control, in 15 days. However, no differences were found in the 60-days period among the groups. Microtomographic evaluation showed larger bone volume at 60 days, compared to 15 days, for all groups but SCAR/SCHL30. When all groups were compared, no differences were seen in the 15-days period, while in the 60-days SRAN625 and SCAR/SCHL365 were statistically higher than the Control. In the immunohistochemical analysis, higher doses (SRAN625 and SCAR/SCHL365) led to an increase of BMP-2 in 15 days. Histomorphometric analysis revealed no differences among the groups regarding bone-to-implant-contact and bone area around the implant threads. Resumo Introdução Devido a seus resultados positivos sobre o tecido ósseo o estrôncio passou a ser utilizado também como coadjuvante de processos de neoformação óssea, principalmente procedimentos cirúrgicos maxilo-faciais. Objetivo Avaliar se a suplementação de estrôncio (Sr) não radioativo melhora a osseointegração de implantes de titânio em ratos. Material e método Setenta ratos machos (Rattus Norvegicus) foram divididos aleatoriamente em 5 grupos, de acordo com a suplementação sistêmica: Controle - solução salina; SRAN50 - ranelato de estrôncio (SRAN) 50mg/kg/dia; SRAN625 - SRAN 625mg/kg/dia; SCAR/SCHL30 - carbonato de estrôncio e cloreto de estrôncio (SCAR/SCHL) 30mg/kg/dia; SCAR/SCHL365 - SCAR/SCHL 365mg/kg/dia. Os medicamentos foram administrados por gavagem, uma vez ao dia, iniciando 15 dias antes da cirurgia (1 implante de titânio em cada tíbia), e persistiram por 15 ou 60 dias. ABSTRACT: The clinical, epidemiological and anatomopathological findings of anthelmintic poisoning in small ruminants diagnosed at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Patos, Paraíba, from January 2000 to December 2022 are described. A total of 1,928 necropsies were carried out on small ruminants, of which 1,032 were goats and 896 sheep. Four outbreaks of anthelmintic poisoning were identified in these species: one outbreak of ivermectin in sheep, one outbreak of disophenol in goats and sheep and two outbreaks of nitroxinil in goats. These intoxications accounted for 0.78% and 0.23% of goat and sheep diseases diagnosed routinely. In the case of ivermectin poisoning, the animal had neurological clinical signs, and no macroscopic or histopathological alterations were observed. In the outbreaks of disophenol and nitroxinil, the animals showed anorexia, hyperthermia, tachycardia, tremors, dyspnea, incoordination and limb rigidity. Macroscopically, there were liver and kidney lesions associated with circulatory alterations, such as hemorrhages and edema. Microscopically, necrosis and degeneration of hepatocytes and tubular epithelial cells associated with hemorrhage and congestion were observed. The prevalence of these intoxications in small ruminants is considered low in the Semi-arid Northeast, but outbreaks can occur with high lethality in herds. RESUMO: Descrevem-se os achados clínicos, epidemiológicos e anatomopatológicos das intoxicações por anti-helmínticos em pequenos ruminantes diagnosticadas no Hospital Veterinário da Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, Patos, Paraíba, durante o período de janeiro de 2000 a dezembro de 2022. Foram realizadas 1.928 necropsias de pequenos ruminantes, sendo 1.032 caprinos e 896 ovinos. Destes, foram identificados quatro surtos de intoxicação por anti-helmínticos nessas espécies: um surto de intoxicação por ivermectina em ovino, um surto de disofenol em caprinos e ovinos e dois surtos por nitroxinil em caprinos. Essas intoxicações representaram 0,78% e 0,23% das doenças de caprinos e ovinos diagnosticadas na rotina, respectivamente. Na intoxicação por ivermectina o animal apresentava sinais clínicos neurológicos e não foram observadas alterações macroscópicas e histopatológicas. Abstract This split-mouth randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate the primary and secondary stability of hybrid implants with different thread configurations and hydrophilic surfaces. Twenty patients with a partially edentulous maxilla were selected. These patients received two types of implants with the same hydrophilic surface: CTP group: Cylindrical-Tapered implant with perforating threads; CTH: Cylindrical-Tapered implant with hybrid threads configuration (perforating and condensing threads). The primary and secondary stability parameters were measured by insertion torque and resonance frequency analysis at the time of implant placement and 7, 28, 56, and 90 days after the surgical procedure. The paired t-test was used to compare the data on the implant's stability between the groups. The statistical analysis was performed with a confidence level set at 95%. It was found that the implants in the CTH group presented higher primary stability values at the time of implant placement, due to the higher ISQ (63.61 ± 9.44 vs. 40.59 ±7.46) and insertion torque (36.92 ± 16.50 Ncm vs. 28.00 ± 14.40 Ncm), than the implants in the CTP group. Resumo O objetivo deste estudo controlado randomizado de boca dividida foi avaliar a estabilidade primária e secundária de implantes híbridos com diferentes configurações de rosca e superfícies hidrofílicas. Vinte pacientes com maxila parcialmente edêntula foram selecionados. Esses pacientes receberam dois tipos de implantes com a mesma superfície hidrofílica: Grupo CTP: Implante cilíndrico-cônico com roscas perfurantes; Grupo CTH: Implante cilíndrico-cônico com roscas perfurantes e condensadoras. Os parâmetros de estabilidade primária e secundária foram medidos por análise de torque de inserção e frequência de ressonância no momento da colocação do implante e 7, 28, 56 e 90 dias após o procedimento cirúrgico. O teste t-pareado foi utilizado para comparação dos dados de estabilidade entre os grupos. A análise estatística foi executada levando-se em consideração um nível de confiança de 95%. Constatou-se que os implantes do grupo CTH apresentaram maiores valores de estabilidade primária no momento da colocação do implante, devido ao maior ISQ (63.61 ± 9.44 vs. 40.59 ±7.46) e torque de inserção (36.92 ± 16.50 Ncm vs. 28.00 ± 14.40 Ncm), do que os implantes do grupo CTP. Abstract Introduction The maintenance of oral health in inpatients is essential, particularly to avoid complications arising from periodontal disease, which not only affect oral health but can also exacerbate systemic issues during hospitalization. Objective: This study aimed to assess nursing staff’s knowledge regarding the management of periodontal disease and its association with systemic diseases. Material and method This cross-sectional observational study was conducted in a general referral hospital of the Brazilian National Health System (SUS). A total of 504 nursing professionals completed a self-administered 24-item questionnaire on relating to oral care procedures and the importance of oral health in hospitalized patients. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and the chi-squared test (α = 0.05). Result Most respondents (97.8%) believed that oral infections can affect a patient's general health and that oral hygiene is important during hospitalization. However, knowledge deficits were identified. The oral effect of periodontal disease was considered moderate by 49.3% of the participants, and 74.6% believed that sugar was the most common cause of periodontal disease. Conclusion Nursing professionals are aware of the importance of maintaining oral hygiene and the relationship between periodontal and systemic diseases. However, their dental hygiene practice knowledge is limited. Resumo Introdução A manutenção da saúde bucal em pacientes internados é essencial, especialmente para evitar complicações decorrentes da doença periodontal, que não apenas afetam a saúde bucal, mas também podem agravar problemas sistêmicos durante a hospitalização. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o conhecimento da equipe de enfermagem em relação ao manejo da doença periodontal e sua associação com doenças sistêmicas. Material e método Este estudo observacional transversal foi conduzido em um hospital geral de referência do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) do Brasil. ABSTRACT To increase genetic variability, sweet potato needs to be sexually propagated in breeding programs. However, its seeds have a hard and thick integument, requiring some dormancy breaking method. Chemical treatment of seeds allows greater efficiency of the relationship between seeds obtained in crosses and those that germinate, providing genotypes to be tested for their potential, aiming at developing a new commercial cultivar. Thus, the objective of this study was to identify the effects of immersion times of seeds in sulfuric acid (98%) on the germination and initial growth of sweet potato seedlings. The seeds were immersed for five different times: 0 (control), 20, 40, 60, and 80 min. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design with ten repetitions consisting of 25 seeds each experimental plot. The germination percentage, germination speed index (GSI), dry mass of whole seedlings, and length of the largest root and shoot of the seedlings were evaluated. The germination percentage and GSI increased with immersion time until 53.30 min, with maximum estimated values of 85.39 and 25.10%, respectively. RESUMO Visando ampliar a variabilidade genética, a batata-doce necessita ser propagada sexuadamente em programas de melhoramento genético. No entanto, devido à presença de tegumento duro e espesso nas sementes, é necessária aplicação de algum método para quebra de dormência. A escarificação química é a técnica que tem demonstrado maior eficiência da relação entre sementes obtidas em cruzamentos e aquelas que germinam, gerando genótipos a serem testados quanto ao seu potencial, visando desenvolver uma nova cultivar comercial. Assim, objetivou-se identificar os efeitos de tempos de imersão das sementes em ácido sulfúrico (98%) na germinação e crescimento inicial das plântulas de batata-doce. As sementes foram imersas em cinco intervalos de tempo: 0 (controle), 20, 40, 60 e 80 min. Resumen: Este trabajo analiza los impactos de las relaciones bilaterales entre Brasil y Guinea-Bissau en los delitos transnacionales que circulan en el área del Atlántico Sur. A partir de 2003, el gobierno brasileño buscó reavivar sus interacciones institucionales con el continente africano. Aún en el inicio de la tercera década del siglo XXI, el crimen organizado internacional persiste, contribuyendo a la inseguridad en las áreas fronterizas del entorno estratégico de los países mencionados anteriormente. En este contexto, el objetivo de este artículo es presentar la cooperación entre ambas naciones para combatir el tráfico en la ruta propuesta, entre 2003 y 2021, mediante la capacitación de los agentes y el fortalecimiento institucional en Guinea-Bissau. Con un enfoque cualitativo y utilizando la revisión bibliográfica como método de investigación, se revelaron las acciones de Brasil en Guinea-Bissau, lideradas por la Agencia Brasileña de Cooperación, con el fin de mitigar el tráfico de drogas, armas y personas. Se observa que el Estado africano puede contar con el gobierno brasileño para superar los problemas causados por la inseguridad, especialmente derivados del narcotráfico. Por lo tanto, posiblemente haya contribuciones para reducir las vulnerabilidades en el eje estudiado, fortaleciendo así esta cooperación Sur-Sur.

Abstract: This work analyzes the impacts of bilateral relations between Brazil and Guinea-Bissau on transnational crimes circulating in the South Atlantic area. Since 2003, the Brazilian government sought to revitalize its institutional interactions with the African continent. Even in the early years of the third decade of the 21st century, international organized crime persists, contributing to insecurity in the border areas of the strategic environment of the aforementioned countries. In this context, the objective of this article is to present the cooperation between both nations to combat trafficking along the proposed route, between 2003 and 2021, through training of agents and institutional strengthening in Guinea-Bissau. With a qualitative approach and using literature review as a research method, Brazil's actions in Guinea-Bissau, led by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, were revealed, aiming to mitigate the trafficking of drugs, arms, and people. It is observed that the African state can rely on the Brazilian government to overcome problems caused by insecurity, especially those derived from drug trafficking. Therefore, there may be contributions to reduce vulnerabilities in the studied axis, thus strengthening this South-South cooperation.

Ainda no início da terceira década do século XXI, o crime organizado internacional persiste, contribuindo para a insegurança nas áreas fronteiriças do entorno estratégico dos países supracitados. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste artigo é apresentar a cooperação entre ambas as nações para o combate ao tráfico na rota proposta, entre 2003 e 2021, por meio da capacitação dos agentes e do fortalecimento institucional guineense. Com uma abordagem qualitativa e tendo como procedimento de pesquisa a revisão bibliográfica, foram reveladas as ações do Brasil junto à Guiné-Bissau, cujo protagonismo cabe à Agência Brasileira de Cooperação, a fim de mitigar os tráficos de drogas, armas e pessoas. Nota-se que o Estado africano pode contar com o governo brasileiro para o intento de superar os problemas impostos pela insegurança, decorrentes particularmente do narcotráfico. Abstract This study evaluated the influence of a fluoride-modified titanium surface on osseointegration in rats with induced diabetes. One hundred and eighty rats were randomly allocated into 3 groups with 60 animals each: Control group (C): Animals without diabetes; Diabetes Group (D): Animals with uncontrolled induced diabetes; Controlled Diabetes Group (CD): Animals with diabetes induced controlled by the insulin administration. Diabetes was induced by streptozotocin injection. Each animal received 2 implants in the proximal tibial metaphysis, one with the machined surface (M) and the other one with a fluoride-modified titanium surface (F), after 4 weeks of induction of diabetes. The animals were submitted to euthanasia 2, 4, and 6 weeks after the implant placement (n = 20 animals/group). The osseointegration was evaluated by the implant removal torque test and the histometric analysis of the non-decalcified histological sections: 1) Contact bone/implant (%BIC); 2) Bone tissue area between implant threads (%BBT). Cento e oitenta ratos foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em 3 grupos com 60 animais cada: Grupo controle (C): Animais sem diabetes; Grupo Diabetes (D): Animais com diabetes induzida descompensada; Grupo Diabetes Controlado (CD): Animais com diabetes induzido controlado pela administração de insulina. O diabetes foi induzido por injeção de estreptozotocina. Cada animal recebeu 2 implantes na metáfise proximal da tíbia, um com superfície usinada (M) e outro com superfície de titânio modificado com flúor (F), após 4 semanas de indução do diabetes. Os animais foram submetidos à eutanásia 2, 4 e 6 semanas após a colocação do implante (n = 20 animais/grupo). A osseointegração foi avaliada pelo teste de torque de remoção do implante e pela análise histométrica dos cortes histológicos não descalcificados: 1) Contato osso-implante (%BIC); 2) Área de tecido ósseo entre as roscas do implante (%BBT). Os implantes com superfície F apresentaram maior torque de remoção do que os implantes com superfície M em todos os grupos. Não houve diferença no %BIC entre os grupos independente da superfície utilizada. A superfície F mostrou tendência a apresentar maiores valores de %BBT para os 3 períodos de avaliação no grupo D. As superfícies de implantes modificadas com flúor não influenciaram nos dados de %BIC e %BBT. Entretanto, essas superfícies aumentaram o travamento dos implantes no tecido ósseo.
