Resumen Marco contextual: Las ambulancias de soporte vital inmediato (SVI) permiten al personal de enfermería intervenir en un contexto prehospitalario, con el apoyo de sus conocimientos técnico-científicos y de complejos protocolos de actuación y regulación médica a través de la telemedicina. Objetivo: Analizar las aportaciones de la intervención del personal de enfermería del SVI en la evolución del estado clínico de la persona en situación crítica (PSC). Metodología: Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo-correlacional, retrospectivo, realizado en centros de SVI del norte de Portugal. Se analizaron 574 historias clínicas electrónicas entre el 1 de noviembre y el 31 de diciembre de 2019, correspondientes al mismo número de personas evaluadas. Se utilizó la escala National Early Warning Score (NEWS) para evaluar la evolución clínica de la PSC. Resultados: Se observó una evolución positiva en el score NEWS de la PSC, tras la intervención del personal de enfermería del SVI (M = 4,43 ± 3,901 vs 3,34 ± 3,329; sig < 0,001). Por el contrario, el riesgo clínico disminuyó significativamente tras la intervención del personal de enfermería. Conclusión: Se demostró la relevancia de la intervención del personal de enfermería del SVI en el contexto prehospitalario, como garantía de seguridad, calidad y mejora continua en la atención a la PSC.

Abstract Background: Immediate life support (ILS) ambulances allow nurses to intervene in pre-hospital settings, supported by their technical-scientific knowledge and complex protocols of action and regulation through telemedicine. Objective: To analyze the contributions of nursing interventions in the evolution of the clinical state of critical patients. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive-correlational, retrospective, and observational study conducted in ILS settings in northern Portugal. A total of 574 electronic clinical records were analyzed between 1 November and 31 December 2019, corresponding to the same number of people evaluated. The National Early Warning Score (NEWS) was used to assess the clinical evolution of critical patients. Results: There was a positive evolution of the NEWS score of critical patients after the intervention of ILS nurses (M = 4.43 ± 3.901 vs. 3.34 ± 3.329; sig < 0.001). Similarly, the clinical risk of critical patients decreased after the nurse’s intervention. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the importance of nurses in prehospital care, as a guarantee of safety, quality, and continuous improvement of care for critical patients.

Resumo Enquadramento: As ambulâncias de suporte imediato de vida (SIV) possibilitam ao enfermeiro capacidade de intervenção em contexto pré-hospitalar, suportada pelo seu conhecimento técnico-científico, protocolos complexos de atuação e regulação médica por telemedicina. Objetivo: Analisar os contributos da intervenção dos enfermeiros SIV, na evolução do estado clínico da pessoa em situação crítica (PSC). Metodologia: Estudo quantitativo, descritivo-correlacional, retrospetivo, realizado em meios SIV, na região norte de Portugal. Analisados 574 registos clínicos eletrónicos, entre 01 de novembro e 31 de dezembro de 2019, que correspondem ao mesmo número de pessoas avaliadas. Utilizada a escala National Early Warning Score (NEWS) para avaliar a evolução clínica da PSC. Resultados: Observou-se uma evolução positiva do score NEWS da PSC, após a intervenção do enfermeiro SIV (M = 4,43 ± 3,901 vs 3,34 ± 3,329; sig < 0,001). Em sentido inverso, o risco clínico diminuiu significativamente após a intervenção do enfermeiro. Conclusão: Demonstrou-se a relevância da intervenção do enfermeiro SIV no contexto pré-hospitalar, enquanto garantia de segurança, qualidade e melhoria contínua dos cuidados à PSC.

RESUMEN La pandemia de la Covid 19 forzó a las facultades de medicina a optar por una metodología virtual de enseñanza por la suspensión de las prácticas presenciales con pacientes reales en los establecimientos de salud, debido al confinamiento social y riesgo de contagio. Objetivo Determinar las ventajas y desventajas percibidas por los estudiantes de medicina en relación con la transición de las prácticas presenciales en hospitales a las sesiones virtuales de aprendizaje en un curso de semiología en una facultad de medicina de Lima, Perú. Material y métodos Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal realizado en estudiantes del 4to año de la carrera de Medicina. Los datos se recolectaron mediante una encuesta virtual no validada. Resultados 94 estudiantes respondieron la encuesta (tasa de respuesta: 51,1%). Las ventajas percibidas fueron: 57,4% tener mayor tiempo para estudio teórico y 38,3% en ahorro de tiempo en transporte y movilidad. Las desventajas fueron: 42,6% falta de contacto con pacientes reales y 39,4% no poder realizar una historia clínica adecuada. En cuanto al logro de objetivos de aprendizaje, el 72,3% consideró que logró identificar los problemas de salud del paciente, mientras que el 24,4% afirmó que logró realizar una adecuada historia clínica, y sólo el 9,6% que logró realizar un examen físico completo en pacientes. Conclusión La modalidad virtual de enseñanza permitió a los estudiantes tener más tiempo para revisar aspectos teóricos del curso, pero limitó la adquisición de habilidades prácticas, como realizar una anamnesis adecuada, presentar historias clínicas y examinar pacientes.

SUMMARY The COVID-19 pandemic forced the school of medicines to opt for a virtual teaching modality due to the suspension of face-to-face activities imposed by the lockdown. Objective To determine the advantages and disadvantages of the virtual teaching modality perceived by the students in an introduction to clinical medicine course of a school of medicine in Lima, Peru. Methods A virtual non-validated survey was circulated among fourth year medical students. Results 94 studentes answered the survey (51%). Perceived advantages were to have more time to study (57.4%) and saving time in transportation (39.4%). The disadvantages were lack of contact with real patients (42.6%) and not to be able to obtain a clinical history from patients (39.4%). The 72.3% of students were able to identify the medical problems of patients, but only 24.4% were able to obtain an adequate clinical history and just 9.6% performed an adequate physical examination. Conclusion The virtual teaching modality allowed the student to have more time for self-study but limited their abilities to obtain a clinical history and to perform a physical examination.

Constipation is a disorder of the gastrointestinal (GI) and some of the main etiological mechanisms are directly related to changes in GI physiology. The capacity to carry out paired assessments and measure GI parameters under the influence of constipation is a relevant point in selecting a suitable methodology. We aimed to perform a non-invasive investigation of gastrointestinal motility in constipated rats using the alternating current biosusceptometry system (ACB). The animals were split into two groups: the pre-induction stage (CONTROL) and post-induction loperamide stage (LOP). We assessed GI motility parameters using the ACB system. Colon morphometric and immunohistochemical analyses were performed for biomarkers (C-kit) for interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC). Our results showed a significant increase in gastrointestinal transit in the LOP group in addition to a reduction in the dominant frequency of gastric contraction and an arrhythmic profile. A change in colonic contractility profiles was observed, indicating colonic dysmotility in the LOP group. We found a reduction in the number of biomarkers for intestinal cells of Cajal (ICC) in the LOP group. Resumen Este artículo, resultado de una investigación cualitativa, tiene como objeto pasajes de una novela literaria - O tribunal da quinta-feira - que abordan las reacciones de los personajes ante cuestiones relacionadas con el VIH y el SIDA. El objetivo es investigar si estos pasajes mantienen el sentido de naturalización de las personas que viven con el VIH, asociadas a relaciones ideológicas y de poder, o si contribuyen a un cambio discursivo con el fin de erradicar el estigma que desencadena la discriminación y el prejuicio. El estudio se fundamenta en el enfoque teórico-analítico del Análisis Crítico del Discurso, así como en los conceptos de biopolítica y necropolítica. Abstract This article, carried out through a qualitative study, analyzes passages of a literary novel - O tribunal da quinta-feira - that involve the reactions of characters on issues related to hiv and aids. The objective is to investigate whether these passages maintain the sense of naturalization of people who with hiv, associated with ideology and power relations, or whether they contribute to a discursive change in order to eradicate the stigma that triggers discrimination and prejudice. The study is anchored on the theoretical-analytical approach of Critical Discourse Analysis, as well as on the concepts of biopolitics and necropolitics. The overall picture that emerge from the findings reveals that the first three characters analyzed indicate the reproduction of violent discourses, in which people who live with hiv are ‘left - or made - to die´. ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the association between leptin/adiponectin ratio (LAR) and insulin resistance surrogates in prepubertal children. Subjects and methods: Study based on data from the Growth and Obesity Chilean Cohort Study (GOCS) involving 968 Chilean prepubertal children. Plasma insulin, leptin, and adiponectin were determined by immunoassays. Several common insulin resistance surrogates were calculated, including the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), triglyceride/HDL cholesterol index, triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, and the TyG index corrected for body mass index (BMI; TyG-BMI) and waist circumference (WC; TyG-WC). Associations among variables were assessed using multiple linear and logistic regression analysis. Results: There was a significant direct association between plasma leptin and LAR with BMI z-score but no association between plasma adiponectin and adiposity. After adjustments for sex and age, LAR was significantly associated with all insulin resistance surrogates (which were categorized using the 75th percentile as the cutoff point), with the TyG-WC index emerging as the surrogate with the highest magnitude of association (odds ratio [OR] 2.44, 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.05-2.9). After additional adjustment for BMI z-score, only the association between LAR and TyG-WC remained significant (OR 1.64, 95% CI 1.27-2.12). Conclusion: Plasma leptin and LAR were strongly associated with several common insulin resistance surrogates in prepubertal children, most notably with the TyG-WC index. Associations between LAR and insulin resistance indexes were mainly driven by the effect of plasma leptin, which is also directly associated with increased adiposity. RESUMEN El presente trabajo tiene la finalidad de dar a conocer el desarrollo de un prototipo de sensor para la medición de mercurio (Hg2+) en solución acuosa sobre una plataforma electroquímica basada en electrodos serigrafiados de nanotubos de carbonos (CNT-SPE) en conjunto con nanopartículas de oro (NPs-Au) realizadas a través de síntesis verde, utilizando extracto acuoso de Sargassum spp. Para esto, se realizó la caracterización de las NPs-Au por espectroscopía ultravioleta-visible (UV-Vis), infrarrojo (TF-IR), difracción de rayos X (DRX) y microscopía electrónica de barrido (SEM); obteniendo nanopartículas entre 80-100 nm las cuales poseen un recubrimiento orgánico que les confiere una sinergia al momento de ser conjugadas con CNT-SPE oxidadas/activadas. Posteriormente, las NPs-Au se utilizaron para modificar el CNT-SPE a través del método drop-casting y así ensamblar un novedoso sensor electroquímico para la medición de Hg2+, cuya validación y habilidad para medir fue demostrada utilizando voltametría diferencial de pulso (DPV). Se obtuvieron límites de detección de 2.38 𝜇M y cuantificación de 3 𝜇M. Los resultados demuestran que la plataforma desarrollada es una alternativa, rápida, eficiente y portátil para la medición de Hg2+.

ABSTRACT The present manuscript’s objective is to develop a sensor prototype for measuring mercury (Hg2+) in an aqueous solution. An electrochemical platform based on screen-printed carbon nanotube electrodes (CNT-SPE) and gold nanoparticles (NPs-Au) synthesized using a green synthesis method with an aqueous extract of Sargassum spp. For this, the characterization of the NPs-Au was carried out by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), infrared (TF-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) spectroscopy. The nanoparticles have sizes between 80-100 nm and an organic coating that allows them a synergy when conjugated with oxidized/activated CNT-SPE. Subsequently, the NPs-Au were used to modify the CNT-SPE through the drop-casting method and thus assemble a novel electrochemical sensor for the measurement of Hg2+, whose validation and ability to measure was demonstrated using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Detection limits of 2.38 𝜇M and quantification of 3 𝜇M were obtained. The results show that the developed platform is a fast, efficient and portable alternative for the measurement of Hg2+.

Resumen El almidón resistente (AR) es una fracción del almidón no digerible por las α-amilasas y a diferencia de la fibra dietética, el AR es fermentado en el colon promoviendo beneficios en la salud. Dentro de los diferentes tipos de AR, el tipo 3 (AR3) se obtiene por autoclaveado y sin el uso de agentes químicos. El objetivo de este estudio fue obtener AR3 a partir de avena y evaluar su efecto a diferentes concentraciones (0, 5, 10, 15 y 20 %, p/p) sobre las propiedades reológicas de la masa, propiedades de textura de las galletas y su aceptabilidad sensorial. El análisis de perfil de textura (TPA) evidenció un incremento en la fracturabilidad, dureza, adhesividad y gomosidad. La incorporación de AR3 incrementó el módulo elástico (G´) y viscoso (G´´) en comparación con la masa control. Todos los tratamientos presentaron comportamiento elástico (G´ > G´´). La dureza en las galletas aumentó con la concentración de AR3, con valores de ≈ 8 N (control) hasta 20 N (AR3-20 %). Las pruebas sensoriales no fueron significativas entre tratamientos, aunque las galletas AR3-20 % tuvieron mayor preferencia. La adición de AR3 en la masa provocó cambios funcionales y de textura significativos que afectaron positivamente los atributos de calidad de las galletas.

Abstract Resistant starch (RS) is a portion of starch that is not digestible by α-amylases and unlike dietary fiber, RS is fermented in the colon, promoting health benefits. Among the different types of RS, type 3 (RS3) is obtained by autoclaving and without chemical agents. The objective of this work was to obtain RS3 from oats and to evaluate its effect at different concentrations (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 % w/w) on the rheological properties of the dough, textural properties of the cookies and their sensory acceptability. Texture profile analysis (TPA) showed an increased fracturability, hardness, adhesiveness and gumminess. The incorporation of RS3 increased the elastic (G’) and viscous (G’’) modulus compared to the control dough. All treatments showed elastic behavior (G’ > G’’). Hardness in cookies increased with RS3 concentration, with values from ≈ 8 N (control) to 20 N (RS3 - 20 %). Sensory tests were not significant between treatments, although RS3-20 % cookies had a higher preference. The addition of RS3 in the dough caused significant functional and textural changes that positively affected the quality attributes of the cookies.

Abstract Our aim was to evaluate the effects of cisplatin and dexamethasone alone and combined on gastric contractility and histomorphometry of BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice. BALB/c and C57BL/6 male mice (8-week-old) were randomly separated into: Control; Cisplatin (7.5 mg/Kg); Dexamethasone (2.0 mg/Kg); and Dexamethasone plus Cisplatin (2.0 mg/Kg of dexamethasone 1-hour prior to 7.5 mg/Kg of cisplatin). Drugs were administered intraperitoneally for three days. Body weight and food intake were evaluated on 2nd day. Alternating Current Biosusceptometry technique was employed to measure gastric contractions on 3rd day. Afterward, mice were killed for gastric histomorphometric analysis. Cisplatin decreased food intake and caused bradygastria in BALB/c mice; however, the amplitude of gastric contractions decreased in both BALB/c and C57BL/6. Dexamethasone and cisplatin combined restored the gastric frequency and food intake only in BALB/c, but drug combination reduced the gastric amplitude of contractions in both strains. Dexamethasone alone increased gastric mucosa thickness in C57BL/6 and decreased muscular thickness in BALB/c. In conclusion, the mouse strains presented differences in acute effects of cisplatin and dexamethasone alone and combined on gastric function. This reinforces the importance of choosing the appropriate mouse strain for studying the acute effects of drugs on the gastrointestinal tract. ABSTRACT Entomopathogenic fungi stand out in the biological control of several agriculturally important insects. Six isolates of Metarhizium anisopliae, Cordyceps javanica, Beauveria sp. and B. bassiana were screened to control Anthonomus grandis, Euschistus heros, Oebalus poecilus, O. ypsilongriseus and Thyanta perditor, important insect pests of soybean, cotton and rice. The bioassays were conducted in a completely randomized design, with four replications (10 insects/replication). Significant differences for virulence were observed between the tested fungal species and isolates. For A. grandis, the most virulent isolate was M. anisopliae BRM 2335, followed by Beauveria BRM 14527 and BRM 67744 [82.5 to 97.5 % of mortality; average lethal time (LT50) of 5.9 to 7.8 days]. M. anisopliae BRM 2335 was also highly virulent to the four stink bug species (75 to 97.5 % of mortality; LT50 of 5.2 to 9.7 days). For the stink bugs, Beauveria sp. BRM 67744 was infectious to O. poecilus (75 % of mortality), but failed to control E. heros (16.9 % of mortality). C. javanica BRM 27666 and BRM 14526 showed average virulence to the stink bugs and A. grandis (17.5 to 57.3 % of mortality; LT50 of 6.0 to 9.7 days). RESUMO Os fungos entomopatogênicos destacam-se no controle biológico de diversos insetos de importância agrícola. Seis isolados de Metarhizium anisopliae, Cordyceps javanica, Beauveria sp. e B. bassiana foram selecionados para o controle de Anthonomus grandis, Euschistus heros, Oebalus poecilus, O. ypsilongriseus e Thyanta perditor, importantes insetos-pragas da soja, algodão e arroz. ABSTRACT Compaction caused by mechanization affects soil quality and, consequently, the development of crops. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different degrees of soil compaction on the physiology, morphology, and anatomy of different coffee cultivars in a controlled environment. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, with randomized block design in a 5 × 5 factorial arrangement, with five coffee cultivars (Arara, Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62, Catuaí Vermelho 144, MGS Paraíso 2 and Mundo Novo IAC 379-19) and five degrees of compaction (68, 74, 80, 86 and 92 %), with four repetitions, totaling 100 experimental units. The following variables were evaluated in the aboveground biomass: plant height, number of leaves, diameter of the orthotropic branch, fresh mass of leaves and stem, leaf area, gas exchange, and chlorophyll a and b index; in the roots: length, surface area, volume, diameter of fine and coarse roots, fresh and dry mass of roots, as well as anatomical characteristics. Results showed that soil with degrees of compaction above 80 % negatively affected the variables evaluated. Catuaí Vermelho 144 presented the worst performance regardless of the degree of compaction, while Arara and MGS Paraíso 2 showed the best performance under the evaluated compaction degrees. RESUMO: O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os parâmetros de desempenho e as características de carcaça e qualidade da carne de frangos Label Rouge criados em sistema alternativo em função do aumento da idade de abate. O delineamento foi inteiramente casualizado (DIC) disposto em esquema fatorial (2x5), sendo dois sexos (macho e fêmea) e cinco idades de abate (70, 90, 120, 150 e 180 dias). Foram utilizadas 240 aves (Pescoço Pelado), sendo 120 fêmeas e 120 machos, sendo avaliados os parâmetros de desempenho, carcaça, físico-químicos, composição centesimal e fibra muscular. Com o aumento no tempo de produção houve efeitos dos períodos de produção e sexo em relação a variáveis de desempenho, com melhores resultados para os machos. Para os parâmetros de carcaça e físico-químicos, houve interação entre sexo e idade de abate, revelando comportamento diferenciado para machos e fêmeas com aumento da idade de abate. Para a composição centesimal e análise das fibras musculares, somente para extrato etéreo no peito foi verificado interação entre os fatores estudados. O aumento da idade proporcionou a obtenção de frangos com maiores pesos vivos e de carcaça ao abate com consequente redução dos índices de desempenho, além de menor rendimento de carcaça e maior deposição de gordura abdominal nas fêmeas. As fêmeas apresentam menor maciez na coxa e os machos no peito com aumento da idade de abate e, em ambos os cortes, ocorreu maior intensificação da cor, índice de vermelho e redução do brilho a partir de 90 dias ou em maiores idades de abate.

ABSTRACT: This study evaluated the performance parameters, carcass characteristics, and meat quality of Label Rouge chickens raised under an alternative system as a function of age at slaughter. The design was completely randomized with a 5×2 factorial arrangement, with slaughtering at five ages (70, 90, 120, 150, and 180 days) and two sexes. A total of 240 birds (Pescoço Pelado strain) were used, including 120 females and 120 males. Performance, carcass, physicochemical, proximate composition, and muscle fiber traits were evaluated. Rearing time and sex had significant effects on performance-related traits, with better results for males. The interaction between slaughter age and sex had a significant effect on the carcass and physicochemical parameters, which cause different responses in males and females with increasing slaughter age. For the proximate composition and muscle fiber analysis, the interaction between the parameters studied only had a significant effect on ether extract in the breast. The increase in age resulted in chickens with higher live and carcass weight at slaughter but lower performance indices. Females had lower carcass yield and greater deposition of abdominal fat. Females had lower tenderness in the drumstick and males in the breast with increasing slaughter age, and both cuts had more intense color and redness and reduced lightness starting at the slaughter age of 90 days.

Resumen El objetivo de este estudio es analizar los factores que influyen en el comportamiento de uso de los recursos de búsqueda y recuperación de información en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, por parte de 320 estudiantes universitarios a nivel nacional de una universidad privada de Chile. La metodología se sitúa en un diseño no experimental, enfoque cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo, correlacional y corte transversal. El modelo propuesto se basa en la teoría unificada de aceptación y uso de la tecnología (Unfied Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, UTAUT). Los análisis en el software Smart-PLS apoyan que el modelo de investigación presenta una favorable validez y fiabilidad de las escalas de medida y un adecuado ajuste global. El mayor hallazgo es la influencia de la alfabetización informacional como condición facilitadora del uso de recursos de búsqueda de información científica por universitarios de carreras del área de la salud a nivel nacional.

Abstract The objective of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the behavior of use of information search and retrieval resources in the teaching-learning process, by 320 university students nationwide from a private university in Chile. The methodology is located in a non-experimental design, quantitative approach, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional. The proposed model is based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology. The analyzes in the Smart-PLS software support that the research model presents a favorable validity and reliability of the measurement scales and an adequate global adjustment. The greatest finding is the influence of information literacy as a facilitating condition for the use of scientific information search resources by university students with careers in the Health area at the national level.
