RESUMO A utilização de mudas enxertadas e tolerantes ao alumínio pode ser uma estratégia para viabilizar o cultivo do cajueiro-anão (Anacardium occidentale L.) em regiões com predomínio de solos com reação ácida e altas concentrações de alumínio trocável. Nesse sentido, objetivou-se avaliar a influência da enxertia em genótipos de cajueiro-anão cultivados na presença de alumínio. Para isso, o delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 3 × 2 × 2, com mudas de cajueiro-anão de três genótipos (‘CCP 06’, ‘CCP 09’, e ‘CCP 76’) e dois tipos de muda (pé-franco e auto-enxertada), cultivadas na ausência e presença de alumínio (30 mg L-1), com seis repetições. Cento e dez dias após o início da aplicação do alumínio as plantas foram avaliadas quanto ao crescimento, matéria seca e acúmulo de nutrientes e alumínio (na parte aérea e nas raízes). O alumínio causou reduções na altura (25,8%), diâmetro do caule (6,7%), número de folhas (43,3%), área foliar (46,3%), massa seca do caule (29,8%) e massa seca da parte aérea (37,0%) do cajueiro-anão. A aplicação de 30 mg L-1 de alumínio incrementou o acúmulo do Al nas raízes e, como consequência, reduziu o de N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cu, Fe e Zn na parte aérea e nas raízes. ABSTRACT Using grafted and aluminum (Al) tolerant seedlings can be a strategy to enable the cultivation of dwarf cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) in regions with predominance of soils with acidic reaction and high concentrations of exchangeable Al. In this context, the objective was to evaluate the influence of grafting on dwarf cashew genotypes cultivated in the presence of Al. ABSTRACT The use of biostimulants may mitigate the deleterious effects of salt stress on plant growth and physiological variables. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the growth, physiology, organic solutes, and visual characteristics of two tropical ornamental species (Celosia argentea and Catharanthus roseus) cultivated with brackish waters and treated with Ascophyllum nodosum extract. RESUMO Diversas tecnologias vêm sendo implementadas para melhorar o desempenho das plantas em cultivos irrigados e uma delas é o uso de nanobioestimulantes. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi investigar os efeitos da aplicação de diferentes concentrações de bioestimulante à base de carbono na morfofisiologia de plantas de feijão-caupi submetidas a diferentes condutividades elétricas da água de irrigação. O experimento foi realizado em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em arranjo fatorial 2 × 6, com duas condutividades elétricas da água de irrigação (CEa: 0,35 e 4,0 dS m-1) e seis concentrações do nanobioestimulante aplicadas via foliar (0, 80, 160, 240, 320 e 400 mg L-1), com quatro repetições. ABSTRACT Several technologies have been implemented to improve plant performance in irrigated crops, and one of them is the use of nanobiostimulants. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to explore the effects of applying different concentrations of a carbon-based biostimulant on the morphophysiology of cowpea plants subjected to varying electrical conductivities of irrigation water. The experiment was performed in a completely randomized design, in a 2 × 6 factorial scheme, with two electrical conductivities of irrigation water (ECw: 0.35 and 4.0 dS m-1) and six concentrations of nanobiostimulant applied through the leaves (0, 80, 160, 240, 320, and 400 mg L-1), with four replications. RESUMO Os potenciais efeitos das mudanças climáticas sobre a produção agrícola requerem maior compreensão dos sistemas agrícolas que incluem culturas subutilizadas com maior capacidade de adaptação a estresses hídricos e térmicos, como o amaranto (Amaranthus sp.). O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar como os arranjos espaciais afetam o desempenho agronômico do amaranto BRS Alegria (Amaranthus cruentus L.) no semiárido. Um experimento foi conduzido em delineamento de blocos casualizados com cinco repetições em esquema fatorial 2 x 3 (dois espaçamentos entre linhas - 30 e 40 cm; três espaçamentos entre plantas - 20; 30 e 40 cm); nos anos 2019 e 2020, no município de Pentecoste-CE. As características avaliadas foram altura da planta, diâmetro do caule, número de folhas, rendimento de matéria fresca, matéria seca, produtividade, peso de mil grãos, teor de lipídios nos grãos, índices de colheita e acamamento. Os arranjos espaciais não afetaram a altura das plantas e o número de folhas, mas afetaram o diâmetro do caule e índice de acamamento e o espaçamento de 40 cm entre plantas resultou em um maior diâmetro do caule e menor índice de acamamento. RESUMO Os hidrogéis favorecem a retenção de umidade no substrato e podem atenuar os efeitos do estresse salino na produção de plantas em vaso. Nesse contexto, buscou-se avaliar o uso do hidrogel para mitigar os danos causados pela salinidade da água de irrigação na emergência, crescimento e índice térmico de mudas de Tagetes patula L. A pesquisa foi realizada em casa-de-vegetação, em setembro de 2020, no município de Fortaleza, estado do Ceará, Brasil. O delineamento utilizado foi em blocos casualizados em parcelas subdivididas. As parcelas corresponderam a sete níveis de condutividades elétricas da água de irrigação - CEa (0,5, 1,0, 2,0, 3,0, 4,0, 5,0 e 6,0 dS m-1) e as subparcelas corresponderam a quatro concentrações de hidrogel (0, 1,0, 2,0 e 3,0 g L-1), com cinco repetições e cada subparcela foi composta por 27 sementes. A aplicação de 3,0 g de hidrogel L-1 de substrato favoreceu a produção de folhas e reduziu o estresse térmico nas plantas associado ao aumento da salinidade do substrato até 6,0 dS m-1. A utilização de 3,0 g L-1 de hidrogel incrementou a altura das plântulas, massa seca da folha e massa seca total em comparação aos tratamentos sem o polímero retentor de água, mesmo em níveis moderados (2,0 a 3,0 dS m-1) e altos de salinidade (4,0 a 6,0 dS m-1), indicando assim possível efeito mitigador dos danos causados pela salinidade da água de irrigação. Entretanto, a intensidade desse efeito mitigador deminui nos maiores níveis de estresse salino.

The application of 3.0 g hydrogel L-1 of substrate favored the production of leaves and reduced the thermal index in plants associated with the increase in the salinity of the substrate up to 6.0 dS m-1. The use of 3.0 g L-1 hydrogel increases seedling height, leaf dry mass, and total dry mass compared to treatments without water-retaining polymer, even at moderate (2.0 to 3.0 dS m-1) and high (4.0 to 6.0 dS m-1) salinity levels, thus indicating a possible effect of mitigation of damage caused by the salinity of the irrigation water. However, the intensity of this mitigating effect decreases at higher levels of salt stress.

RESUMO A otimização de espaçamentos de plantio, bem como o uso de sistemas de tutoramento de plantas, são práticas culturais que têm melhorado a eficiência produtiva de várias espécies de hortaliças. Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a produção do feijão de metro conduzido em diferentes sistemas de tutoramento e espaçamentos. O experimento foi conduzido no delineamento em blocos ao acaso, em esquema fatorial (4x3), com quatro repetições. O primeiro fator foi constituído por quatro formas de tutoramento [fitilho vertical (FV), “V” normal (VN), “V” invertido (VI) e rasteiro (R)]. O segundo fator foi constituído por três espaçamentos entre plantas (20; 40; e 60 cm) mantendo-se fixo o espaçamento entre linhas de cultivo em 1 m. Foram avaliados a precocidade de produção (ciclo de cultivo); número de vagens, massa de grãos e de vagens por planta; comprimento de vagens; número de grãos e massa de grãos por vagem; produtividade de grãos e de vagem. Também foram avaliadas as trocas gasosas, bem como o custo de implantação de cada um dos tratamentos. A densidade de 50.000 plantas/ha (espaçamento 20 cm) foi a que proporcionou a maior produtividade nos sistemas FV e VI, com 9,10 e 6,72 t/ha, além de promover maior renda líquida ao produtor, com médias de aproximadamente 23 e 15 mil reais acima do sistema R. Para as variáveis de trocas gasosas, houve redução na fotossíntese líquida com o incremento da densidade. Indica-se a utilização de maiores densidades de plantio combinadas com o uso dos sistemas de tutoramento FV e VI em detrimento ao sistema R, por gerarem maior produtividade e receita líquida ao produtor.

ABSTRACT The optimization of plantation spacing, just like the use of staking plant systems, are cultural practices that have improved production efficiency of various kinds of vegetable. The aim of this study was to compare the asparagus bean cultivation conducted in different staking and spacing systems. The experiment was conducted in the design of randomized blocks in a factorial scheme (4x3) with four replicates. The first factor was constituted by four staking types [narrow ribbon vertical (FV), “V” normal (VN), inverted “V” (VI) and creeping (R)]. The second factor was constituted of three plant spacing (20, 40, and 60 cm), keeping constant the spacing of 1 m between crop rows. The evaluated characteristics were precocity (cultivation cycle); number of pods, mass of grains and pods per plant; length of pods; number of grains and mass of grains per pod; grain and pod yield. The gas exchange as well as the cost of deploying each of the treatments were also evaluated. The density of 50,000 plants/ha (spacing of 20 cm) provided the highest productivity in the FV and VI systems, with 9.10 and 6.72 t/ha, in addition to promoting higher net income to the producer, with averages of approximately 23 and 15 thousand R$ above R system. For the gas exchange variables, there was a reduction in net photosynthesis with density increase. The use of higher planting densities are indicated, combined with the use of FV and VI systems, in detriment to R system. The higher planting densities generate higher productivity and net income to the producer.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar se a substituição de nitrato (NO3-) por amônio (NH4+), no meio de crescimento, previne os danos na eficiência do fotossistema II (PSII) e a degradação de pigmentos fotossintéticos causados pela salinidade em plantas de sorgo. As plantas foram cultivadas em soluções nutritivas com diferentes relações dos íons NO3- e NH4+ (100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 e 0:100) a 5,0 mM. O estresse salino foi imposto pela adição de 75 mM de NaCl no meio de crescimento e as análises foram realizadas após dez dias de estresse. Os efeitos mais marcantes da nutrição com nitrogênio foram observados em plantas nutridas na relação 50:50. Sob condições de estresse salino, plantas nutridas nessa relação apresentaram aumentos na eficiência máxima do fotossistema II (Fv/Fm), os quais foram associados com menores coeficientes de extinção não-fotoquímica (NPQ). Adicionalmente, plantas estressadas nutridas na relação 50:50 apresentaram maior rendimento quântico efetivo do PSII (ΦPSII) e altas taxas de transporte de elétrons (ETR), bem como aumentos nos teores de clorofila b e de antocianinas. A análise em conjunto dos resultados sugere que a nutrição nitrogenada com quantidades iguais dos íons nitrato e amônio previne a degradação de pigmentos fotossintéticos e permite maior eficiência do PSII em plantas de sorgo sob estresse salino

ABSTRACT This study was carried out to evaluate if replacement of nitrate (NO3-) by ammonium (NH4+) in the growth medium prevents the damage in the photosystem II (PSII) efficiency and degradation of photosynthetic pigments caused by saline stress in sorghum plants. Sorghum bicolor plants were cultivated in nutrient solutions containing different NO3-:NH4+ ratios (100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 and 0:100) at a final concentration of 5.0 mM. Salinity was imposed by adding NaCl at 75 mM in the growth medium; and the analysis were performed after ten days of salt stress. The most striking effects of nitrogen regime were observed in plants supplied with equal amounts of NO3-: NH4+ (50:50). Under salt stress, 50:50-grown plants displayed an increase in the photosystem II maximum efficiency (Fv/Fm), which was associated with a lower non-photochemical quenching (NPQ). The superior performance of salt-stressed plants grown in 50:50 ratio was indicated by a higher effective quantum yield of PSII (ΦPSII) and electron transport rate (ETR), as well as increased chlorophyll b and anthocyanins. In conclusion, nitrogen nutrition with same amounts of nitrate and ammonium avoids the degradation of photosynthetic pigments and allows higher PSII efficiency in salt-stressed sorghum plants.
