Abstract Introduction Evaluation of patients' reports of characteristics of rectal effluents as a predictor of the quality of the colonoscopy preparation assessed by the endoscopist. Methods A total of 270 patients, aged 18 or older, were consecutively included to perform an outpatient colonoscopy, for a period of 8 months. Demographic and clinical data were collected and evaluated, as well as the rectal effluents' characteristics and data concerning the colonoscopy. The quality of bowel preparation was evaluated by employing the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale. The association between rectal effluents and the quality of preparation was verified by binary logistic regression. Results Of the 270 patients, 67.3% were female, with a mean age of 59.69 ± 12.48 years. Reports of dark and thick, dark orange, or brown and thick effluents produced a higher likelihood of inadequate preparation (OR 4.26, CI 95% 1.51; 11.14, p = 0.004). ABSTRACT The objective of this work is to conduct a comparative study between the works O parque das irmãs magníficas, by Argentine author Camila Sosa Villada, and E se eu fosse puta, by Brazilian author Amara Moira. Methodologically, the study will be based on interviews with the authors, their other literary works, as well as newspaper and magazine articles they have produced and writings by trans activists and thinkers such as Lohana Berkins and Marlene Wayar, queer theory, and decolonial postulations. The authors, who identify as travestis (a Latin American gender identity), construct two autofictional literary narratives that skillfully blend fiction and reality. These stories are told by individuals who have historically been excluded from society simply for being who they are. These writings are from those who no longer accept being silenced, who want to speak for themselves, and are political gestures of resistance and memory. RESUMO Contexto: Diversas publicações têm evidenciado uma maior aceitação de dietas menos restritivas para preparo de colonoscopia, sem prejuízo na sua qualidade, quando comparadas com a dieta de líquidos claros. Objetivo: Avaliar a qualidade, tolerância e preferência do preparo para colonoscopia de uma dieta líquida hipocalórica, quando comparada com uma dieta normocalórica, ambas pobres em fibras. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo randomizado, controlado, observador “cego”, para comparar duas dietas de preparo para colonoscopia (dieta líquida hipocalórica e dieta normocalórica, ambas pobres em fibras). Foi utilizada a escala de Boston para avaliar a qualidade do preparo, sendo considerado adequado BBPS ≥6 na avaliação global e ≥2 em cada segmento. Foram prescritos o mesmo laxativo e o regime “dose fracionada” para ambos os grupos. Resultados: Foram incluídos 136 indivíduos em cada grupo. O preparo adequado foi alcançado em 90,4% dos indivíduos alocados no grupo da dieta líquida e 92,6% da normocalorica. Não houve diferença significativa na qualidade do preparo e na tolerância entre ambas as dietas. Observou-se maior aceitação de repetir o procedimento se necessário, no grupo da dieta normocalórica quando comparado ao da dieta líquida (P=0,005). ABSTRACT Background: Several publications have shown greater acceptance of less restrictive diets for colonoscopy preparation, without impairing the quality of the preparation, when compared to the clear liquid diet. Objective: To evaluate the quality, tolerance and preference regarding the colonoscopy preparation of a low-fiber, normocaloric diet compared with a hypocaloric liquid diet. Methods: This is a randomized, controlled, observer-blind study to compare two low-fiber colonoscopy preparation diets (hypocaloric liquid diet vs. normocaloric diet). The Boston Bowel Preparation Scale was used to evaluate the quality of the preparations, being considered adequate BBPS ≥6 in the global assessment and ≥2 in each segment. The same laxative was used in both groups as well as the “split-dose” regimen. Results: A total of 136 individuals were enrolled in each group. A desigualdade de Bell expôs um dos aspectos mais fundamentais da mecânica quântica: a teoria é incompatível com a forma usual de se interpretar conceitos básicos como realidade e localidade. Embora o argumento original de Bell não seja de difícil compreensão, existem maneiras mais acessíveis de demonstrar desigualdades similares. Bell’s inequality exposed one of the most fundamental aspects of quantum mechanics: the theory is incompatible with the usual way of interpreting basic concepts such as reality and locality. Although Bell’s original argument is not difficult to follow, there are more accessible ways to demonstrate similar inequalities. In this article we present two of these proofs, proposed by Nick Herbert and Asher Peres, both very simple and, it seems, relatively little known despite their pedagogical interest. Résumé Le but de cet article est de discuter de la pertinence de s’affirmer une violation de l’obligation de ne pas reconnaître les actes illégaux internationaux en Palestine c. États-Unis d’Amérique devant la Cour internationale de justice. L’article défendra l’hypothèse qu’il est pertinent de constater une telle violation et, à cette fin, il se consacrera à analyser la nature de l’obligation en question telle qu’exprimée dans les Articles de la Commission du droit international sur la responsabilité des États, la jurisprudence contentieuse et consultative de la Cour internationale de justice consacrée au sujet et, enfin, à la pratique des États et les résolutions du Conseil de sécurité des Nations Unies applicables à l’affaire. Abstract The purpose of this article is to discuss the pertinence of debunking a violation of the obligation to not recognize international illegal acts in Palestine v. United States of America (USA) at the International Court of Justice. The work will defend the hypothesis that it is pertinent to notice such a violation and, for that purpose, it will dedicate itself to analyze the nature of the obligation in question as expressed in the International Law Commission Articles on the Responsibility of States, the contentious and consultative jurisprudence of the International Court of Justice dedicated to the topic and, finally, the practice of States and as resolutions of the United Nations Security Council applicable to the case. The conclusion should restate the arguments ex-postulated in the text and the hypothesis supported by them.

Resumo O presente artigo tem como objetivo debater a pertinência de se aviltar uma violação à obrigação de não-reconhecimento de atos ilícitos internacionais na análise de mérito do caso Palestina v. Estados Unidos da América (EUA) na Corte Internacional de Justiça. O trabalho defenderá a hipótese de que há pertinência em se notar tal violação e, para tanto, dedicar-se-á a analisar a natureza da obrigação em questão conforme expressa nos Artigos sobre Responsabilidade dos Estados da Comissão de Direito Internacional da ONU, a jurisprudência contenciosa e consultiva da Corte Internacional de Justiça dedicada ao tema e, por fim, a prática dos Estados e as resoluções do Conselho de Segurança das Nações Unidas pertinentes ao caso. À conclusão caberá reafirmar os argumentos expostos no texto e a hipótese por ele sustentada.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho é, a partir dos preceitos da decolonialidade (QUIJANO, 2005; WALSH, 2009), analisar as listas de leituras obrigatórias de vestibulares, investigando: os efeitos retroativos dessas listas nas práticas de letramentos literários escolares; a diversidade social, étnica, sexual e de gênero que elas promovem; como movimentam o cânone literário escolar; e como contribuem (ou podem contribuir) para uma maior democratização da/na educação literária. Para isso, selecionamos listas dos últimos vestibulares de sete universidades públicas, buscando contemplar instituições de cada região do Brasil. Tomamos as listas de leituras como importante ferramenta de legitimação de autores e obras literárias para o contexto escolar. A análise proposta é qualitativo-interpretativista (MOITA-LOPES, 1994; 2006) e compreende que todas as práticas de letramentos literários são ideológicas (STREET, 2014), o que pressupõe tanto uma investigação em diálogo com os contextos sociais e com os diversos atores/agentes em torno das práticas de letramentos analisadas, quanto uma interpretação que não isole os dados da pesquisa das relações de poder e disputas discursivas exercidas em torno deles. A partir da constatação de que a inclusão promovida por essas listas de obras literárias se limita apenas a determinadas diversidades, procuramos analisar, especialmente, a ausência de autores e obras LGBTQIA+, a fim de compreender as razões dessa ausência e demonstrar o potencial educativo que obras e autores desses grupos sociais poderiam ter na construção de práticas de letramentos literários escolares de reexistência (SOUZA, 2011; WALSH, 2009) para uma educação transgressora (HOOKS, 2017) e democrática.

ABSTRACT This paper, based on the precepts of decoloniality (QUIJANO, 2005; WALSH, 2009), aims to analyze the required readings lists for college entrance examinations (vestibular) by investigating: the retroactive effects of these lists on school literary literacy practices; the social, ethnic, gender, and sexual diversity they promote; how they move the school literary canon; and how they contribute (or can contribute) to a greater democratization of/in literary education. To this end, we select lists from the latest vestibular examinations of seven public universities, seeking to include institutions from all regions of Brazil. We consider reading lists to be an important tool for legitimizing authors and literary works in the school context. The proposed analysis is qualitative-interpretative (MOITA-LOPES, 1994; 2006) and understands that all literary literacy practices are ideological (STREET, 2014), which presupposes not only an investigation in dialogue with social contexts and with the various actors/agents around the literacy practices analyzed, but also an interpretation that does not isolate the research data from the power relations and discursive disputes exercised around them. From the observation that the inclusion promoted by these lists of literary works is limited only to certain diversities, we seek to analyze, especially, the absence of LGBTQIA+ authors and works, in order to understand the reasons for this absence and to demonstrate the educational potential that works and authors from these social groups could have in the construction of school literary literacies practices of re-existence (SOUZA, 2011; WALSH, 2009) for a transgressive (HOOKS, 2017) and democratic education.

RESUMO Estre trabalho surge a partir de incômodos de seus autores acerca do ensino de literatura e das discussões concernentes a esse domínio, sobretudo referente à exclusão da cultura de grupos subalternizados nos espaços educacionais. Nossa intenção é ampliar o debate sobre o impacto da colonialidade dos saberes no campo da educação e, mais especificamente, no contexto de ensino de literatura. Ao longo da discussão, temas como multiculturalismo, interculturalidade, cânone literário e formação de professores serão agenciados para fundamentar uma proposta de ensino de literatura estruturada pela diversidade cultural que compõe a sociedade, construída com os sujeitos subarternizados e incompatível com preconceitos étnicos-raciais, homofóbicos, misóginos e classistas. Apenas a partir dessas transformações, será possível pensar o ensino de literatura como processo educativo de inclusão e democratização cultural.

ABSTRACT This work emerges from some discomfort shared by its authors regarding the teaching of literature and the discussions about this domain, especially related to the culture exclusion of some subalternized groups from educational spaces. Our intention is to expand the debate on the coloniality of knowledge impact in the field of education and, more specifically, in the context of teaching literature. In the course of the discussion, themes such as multiculturalism, interculturality, literature canon, and teacher education will be arranged to support a proposal for teaching literature structured by the cultural diversity in which society is set, built along with subarternized subjects and incompatible with ethnic-racial, homophobic, misogynist and classist prejudice. Only after these transformations, it will be possible to think about teaching literature as an educational process of cultural inclusion and democratization.

Abstract The Solimões Formation is a southwest geological unit of the Brazilian Amazon, being well-known for the Cenozoic giant eusuchian fossils. Among the eight species of Crocodylia described for this formation, the alligatoroid Purussaurus brasiliensis is the best known worldwide due to its enormous size. The holotype was described in 1892 by Barbosa-Rodrigues, composed by a right hemimandible. Later, two other species were assigned to the genus, but the loss of the type specimen brought a series of doubts and discussions about genus and species validity. Here, we provide a historical reconstruction of the genus Purussaurus, especially with a new description of the specimen DGM 527-R, which was first described by L. I. Price. We also provide a review of Purussaurus brasiliensis as a valid species, highlighting the importance of the paleontologist Diogenes de Almeida Campos to the preservation, study availability and divulgation of the specimen. From the six mandibular features discussed, at least two are putative synapomorphies for the genus: the false ziphodont teeth and the thinning of the medial surface of the mandible posterior to the fourteen alveoli, while the lateral surface become laterally expanded from ninth alveoli to behind. The review of the other species of the genus was aggravated due to little sampling of photos and low quality of those contributions. Finally, the curatorial efforts initiated by Price and kept for decades by Campos turned possible the revision of DGM 527-R, an important specimen for understanding the paleobiology and evolution of the genus, and, consequently P. brasiliensis. Such importance was recognized here scientifically and by Campos when considered this specimen as the center-piece of the exhibition in honor of the centenary anniversary of Price.

OBJECTIVES: Pancreatic pseudocysts (PPC) are fluid collections with a well-defined wall that persist for more than 4 weeks inside or around the pancreas as a result of pancreatic inflammation and/or a ductal lesion. PPC have been successfully treated with endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided drainage using different stents. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of EUS-guided drainage of PPC using double-pigtail plastic stents in a tertiary hospital. METHODS: Patients with PPC referred for EUS-guided drainage between May 2015 and December 2019 were included in this case series. The primary endpoint was to evaluate the efficacy (clinical success) and safety (adverse events and mortality) of EUS-guided drainage of PPC. Secondary endpoints included technical success and pseudocyst recurrence. RESULTS: Eleven patients (mean age, 44.5±18.98 years) were included in this study. The etiologies for PPC were acute biliary pancreatitis, chronic alcoholic pancreatitis, and blunt abdominal trauma. The mean pseudocyst size was 9.4±2.69 cm. The clinical success rate was 91% (10/11). Adverse events occurred in three of 11 patients (27%). There were no cases of mortality. The technical success rate was 100%. Pseudocyst recurrence was identified in one of 11 patients (9%) at 12 weeks after successful clinical drainage and complete pseudocyst resolution. CONCLUSION: EUS-guided transmural drainage of PPC using double-pigtail plastic stents is safe and effective with high technical and clinical success rates.

Resumo A presença de bagres da família Ariidae na lista de espécies ameaçadas do Rio Grande do Sul (RS), a partir de 2014, levou à proibição da pesca de duas espécies desta família, assim, os(as) pescadores(as) artesanais ficaram sem uma parte significativa da sua renda, gerando conflitos entre estes e os gestores da pesca no RS. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é compreender o Conhecimento Ecológico Local (CEL) dos(das) pescadores(as) artesanais do Litoral Norte do RS sobre a ecologia e taxonomia dos bagres da família Ariidae, buscando relacioná-lo à criação das leis pesqueiras vigentes no Estado. Foram realizadas 33 entrevistas semi-estruturadas com pescadores(as) artesanais. Os entrevistados reconhecem diferenças entre as etnoespécies da região; e raramente são consultados durante o processo de criação das leis pesqueiras. Considerando os aspectos mencionados percebe-se que o CEL dos pescadores(as) artesanais sobre os bagres pode ser uma importante ferramenta na gestão participativa da pesca do bagre.

Abstract The presence of catfish of the Ariidae family in the list of endangered species of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), as from 2014, led to forbidding fishing two species of this family. Thus, artisanal fisherfolk lost a significant part of their income, causing conflicts between them and the fishing authorities in RS. This work aims mainly to understand the Local Ecological Knowledge (LEK) of the artisanal fisherfolk of the North Coast of RS regarding the ecology and taxonomy of catfish of the Ariidae family, seeking to relate it to the establishment of the fishing regulations in force in the State. 33 semi-structured interviews were made with artisanal fisherfolk. The interviewees perceive differences among the region ethnospecies; hardly ever are they consulted during the fishing regulations establishment process. Considering the aforementioned aspects, the artisanal fisherfolk LEK on catfish can be an important tool in the participatory management of catfish fishing.

Resumen La presencia de bagres de la familia Ariidae en la lista de especies amenazadas en Rio Grande do Sul (RS/Brasil), a partir de 2014, llevó a la prohibición de la pesca de dos especies de esta familia, teniendo como consecuencia la pérdida de una parte significativa de los ingresos por parte de los pescadores artesanales, y generando conflictos entre ellos y los gestores de la pesca en RS. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es comprender el Conocimiento Ecológico Local (CEL) de los pescadores artesanales de la Costa Norte de RS acerca de la ecología y taxonomía del bagre de la familia Ariidae, buscando relacionarlo con la creación de las leyes de pesca vigentes en el Estado. Se realizaron 33 entrevistas semiestructuradas con pescadores artesanales. Los entrevistados reconocen las diferencias entre las etnoespecies de la región; y raramente se les consultan durante el proceso de creación de leyes de pesca. Considerando los aspectos mencionados, es claro que el CEL de pescadores artesanales de bagre puede ser una herramienta importante en el manejo participativo de la pesca del bagre.

Resumo No ano de celebração dos 40 anos da revista Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão cabe verificar como esta revista foi delineando a sua própria história e do campo da Psicologia no Brasil. Neste sentido, o presente artigo teve como objetivo delimitar os principais autores, instituições e palavras-chave que trouxeram a revista até o momento atual. Partindo de uma análise bibliométrica e de redes, obteve-se como resultado os temas, autores e instituições que tiveram protagonismo e a interação entre esses atores. As conclusões apontam que a revista assume uma postura epistemológica pluralista e que tanto os aspectos científicos como os relacionados a práticas e atuação dos profissionais se mantêm ao longo desses 40 anos.

Abstract In the year of celebration of the 40th anniversary of the journal Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão (Psychology: Science and Profession), it is necessary to review how this journal has been outlining its own history and the field of Psychology in Brazil. In this sense, this article aimed to delimit which were the main authors, institutions and keywords that brought the journal to the present moment. Based on a bibliometric and network analysis, it was obtained as a result which themes, authors and institutions had protagonism and interaction among these actors. The conclusions indicate that the journal assumes a pluralist epistemological posture and that both the scientific aspects and those related to the practices and performance of professionals are maintained throughout these 40 years.

Resumen En el año en que se celebra el 40º aniversario de la revista Psicologia: Ciência e Profissão (Psicología: Ciencia y Profesión), es necesario revisar cómo esta revista ha ido perfilando su propia historia y el campo de la Psicología en el Brasil. En este sentido, este artículo pretendía delimitar cuáles fueron los principales autores, instituciones y palabras clave que llevaron a la revista al momento actual. Basándose en un análisis bibliométrico y de redes, se obtuvo como resultado qué temas, autores e instituciones eran los principales e interacción entre estos actores. Las conclusiones indican que la revista asume una postura epistemológica pluralista y que tanto los aspectos científicos como los relacionados con las prácticas y el desempeño de los profesionales se mantienen a lo largo de estos 40 años.

Resumo Este artigo estudou a localização de portos secos sob a perspectiva de redução dos impactos causados pelas atividades portuárias no ambiente urbano. O principal objetivo foi a construção de um modelo baseado em análise de decisão multicriterial aliado a um Sistema de Informação Geográfica para a seleção de áreas sujeitas à locação de portos secos. Um importante ponto neste estudo foi a definição dos critérios de restrição e de fatores para o desenvolvimento do modelo. A distância ao porto foi determinada como o mais relevante critério, seguida por hierarquização viária, densidade domiciliar, vegetação e declividade, respectivamente. Os critérios de restrição foram: áreas de preservação permanente e faixas não edificantes. O modelo foi validado em uma cidade onde a atividade portuária é legalizada em seu plano diretor. Os resultados mostraram que as áreas mais próximas do porto, com menor densidade populacional e mais próximas das principais rodovias da cidade são aquelas mais apropriadas para a implantação de portos secos. Ficou evidenciado que a utilização de análise multicriterial para a seleção de áreas sujeitas à implantação de portos secos pode ser um apoio adicional na elaboração de planos diretores de cidade portuárias.

Abstract This article studied the location of dry ports from the perspective of reducing impacts caused by seaport activities on the urban environment. The main objective was to construct a model based on multiple-criteria decision analysis coupled with the geographical information system for selecting areas subject to the location of dry ports. An important point was the definition of restriction and factor criteria for the preparation of this model. The distance from the seaport was defined as the most relevant criterion, followed by the road hierarchy network, population density, vegetation, and declivity, respectively. The predominant restrictive criteria were: permanent conservation areas and non-building zones. For the validation of the model presented, it was necessary to perform a case study on a city located near a seaport, and that has been legalized seaport activities in its legislation. The result showed that the areas nearest to the port, with less density of household units, and located near main roadways are the most feasible for location of dry ports. It was proven that the usage of multi-criteria analysis for selecting areas subject to the location of dry ports can be a manner for added support in the preparation of master plans for cities surrounded by seaport areas.

Métodos O HOOS foi traduzido do inglês para a língua portuguesa, traduzido de volta para o inglês e submetido a um comitê de especialistas. Foi administrado a 100 pacientes com osteoartrite de quadril. A avaliação psicométrica incluiu a análise fatorial; medidas de confiabilidade interna, confiabilidade de teste-reteste em 7 dias e a comparação de validade de conteúdo com a versão brasileira da Escala de Dor Crônica Graduada (GCPS, na sigla em inglês). Resultados A análise fatorial demonstrou uma solução de cinco fatores. A confiabilidade de teste-reteste mostrou um alto grau de consistência interna para as 5 subescalas (dor e dificuldades físicas, 0,97 no 1° dia e 0,93 aos 7 dias; dor e dificuldade em sentar, deitar e levantar, 0,93 no 1° dia e 0,89 aos 7 dias; dificuldade em flexionar o joelho, 0,92 no 1° dia e 0,83 aos 7 dias; dificuldade de caminhada, 0,88 no 1° dia e 0,87 aos 7 dias; qualidade de vida, 0,80 no 1° dia e 0,35 aos 7 dias). A validade de conteúdo foi estabelecida durante a comparação da versão brasileira da GCPS. Conclusões Uma versão brasileira do HOOS foi desenvolvida com confiabilidade e validade adequadas. Isso facilitará a avaliação clínica do quadril em uma grande população de pacientes e entre diferentes culturas.

Abstract Objective Translated and validated outcome instruments are of great importance, since they can be used for researchers studying different populations with the same problem. The objective of the present study was to translate, culturally adapt and validate the Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS) into Brazilian Portuguese. Methods The HOOS was translated from English into Brazilian Portuguese, translated back into English, and submitted to an experts committee. It was administered to 100 patients with hip osteoarthritis. The psychometric evaluation included factor analysis; internal reliability measures, test-retest reliability at 7 days, and construct validity comparison with the Brazilian version of the Graded Chronic Pain Scale (GCPS). Results Factor analyses demonstrated a five-factor solution. The test-retest reliability showed a high degree of internal consistency for the five subscales (pain and physical difficulties, 0.97 at baseline and 0.93 at 7 days; pain and difficulty sitting, lying down and getting up, 0.93 at baseline and 0.89 at 7 days; difficulty flexing the knee, 0.92 at baseline and 0.83 at 7 days; difficulty walking, 0.88 at baseline and 0.87 at 7 days; quality of life, 0.80 at baseline and 0.35 at 7 days). The construct validity was established during the comparison of the Brazilian version of the GCPS. Conclusions A Brazilian version of the HOOS was developed with adequate reliability and validity. It will facilitate evaluation of the hip within a large patient population and across cultures.

RESUMEN Objetivo Analizar cómo los profesionales y usuarios de un servicio de salud evalúan el asesoramiento y las implementaciones de pruebas rápidas de VIH, que comenzaron en 2010, destacando aspectos positivos, barreras y limitaciones, e investigando los posibles sentidos y significados asignados a las EST/VIH/SIDA. Método Es una investigación cualitativa, exploratoria y descriptiva. Se realizaron entrevistas semi dirigidas con 27 usuarios de servicios y 15 profesionales de la salud, analizadas con el análisis temático. El estudio se realizó en uno de los primeros Centros de Asesoramiento y Pruebas (CTC) a implementar pruebas rápidas de VIH para todos los usuarios, en Porto Alegre, Brasil. Resultados Aspectos positivos de la implementación de pruebas rápidas de VIH: disminución del tiempo de espera de los resultados, mejor resolución de asistencia, expansión de las horas de servicio, pruebas pre y post personalizadas, y competencia en el enfoque de atención realizada por profesionales de la salud durante el asesoramiento. Limitaciones: creencias sobre la eficacia de la prueba rápida de VIH, la estructura física, la mala publicidad de la prueba rápida y poca capacidad de asistencia. Hay algunas oposiciones a la tecnología, debido a la creencia de que las pruebas rápidas pueden no ser efectivas. Conclusiones La integración de las perspectivas de los profesionales y usuarios de atención médica para esta política beneficiará las futuras implementaciones de pruebas rápidas en otros Centros de asesoramiento e incrementar el acceso a los servicios de salud.

ABSTRACT Objective To analyze how health professionals and health service users assess counseling on Rapid HIV test, as well as its implementation, which started in Brazil in 2010, focusing on positive aspects, barriers, and limitations, and analyzing possible meanings that are given to STD and HIV/AIDS. Method Qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive research. Semi-structured interviews were administered to 27 service users and 14 health care professionals; a thematic analysis of the interviews was performed. The study was carried out in one of the first Counseling and Testing Centers (CTC) designed to implement Rapid HIV tests in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Results Positive aspects of Rapid HIV testing implementation included a reduced waiting time for obtaining the test results, better assistance provision, an increase in the number of service hours, personalized pre- and post-tests, and better prepared health care professionals regarding health care during counseling. Limitations included beliefs about the effectiveness of Rapid HIV testing, physical structure, bad publicity on this technology, and poor health care capacity. Likewise, there are some who oppose this type of test, since they believe rapid tests may not be effective. Conclusions Integrating the perspectives of health care professionals and users on this policy will favor future rapid test implementations in other CTCs, and increase health care access possibilities.

ABSTRACT Hippocampus patagonicus is classified as endangered in the vulnerable category by Brazilian law (MMA, 2014), and by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) criteria. Thirteen boats from the commercial fishing fleet of southern Brazil were monitored for 17 months to supplement data for the evaluation of this species. Three seahorse collection points were established, where the fish are landed: port of Imbé/Tramandaí and port of Passo de Torres (northern coast (NC) of Rio Grande do Sul) and the port of Rio Grande (southern coast (SC) of Rio Grande do Sul). The presence of H. patagonicus was recurrent, and the collected animals were between 22 and 130 mm in height. The species was captured from 11 to 57 m deep as bycatch of significant transboundary marine resources (Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentine). In bycatch of gillnet fishing (NC), estimated capture was 0.68 ± 0.97 seahorses/month/vessel, annually, an average of 89.76 seahorses would be removed from the sea by the 11 vessels involved. In trawling (SC), it was 49.66 ± 64.86 seahorses/month/double-rig trawl. It is estimated that 8,342 seahorses are removed annually as bycatch, only in this mode of fishing. The information obtained reinforces the need to apply ecosystem management to fisheries for the recovery of stocks that are over-exploited and accompanying fauna as well, especially small species with poorly known life histories such as H. patagonicus.
