Abstract This study aimed to evaluate whether bacterial inoculation improves the fermentative, microbiological, and chemical characteristics of silages of the elephant grass cv. BRS Capiaçu on different regrowth days. The experimental design was completely randomized and set up in a 3x2 factorial arrangement (three regrowth days, with and without inoculant), with four replications. There was a significant interaction between the regrowth days and inoculant on the pH, ammoniacal nitrogen (N-NH3), and effluent losses (EL) of the silages. Inoculation decreased the EL with the advance of regrowth days and increased the dry matter recovery index compared to the silages without inoculant. The population of molds and yeasts decreased when inoculation was adopted to the forage harvested after 85 d. There was a significant interaction between the dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and neutral detergent fiber corrected for ash and protein (NDFap) contents of the silages. Inoculation in the grass harvested after 85 d increased the DM contents of the silage. The highest CP contents were observed in the silages after 85 d. The NDFap contents of the grasses harvested after 110 and 135 d were higher than those of the grass harvested after 85 d. The NDFap contents of the silages without inoculant increased with the harvest age. The BRS Capiaçu forage silage harvested at 110 d demonstrated favorable performance for silage production. However, the influence of inoculant use was low for the characteristics evaluated.

Resumen Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar si la inoculación bacteriana mejora las características fermentativas, microbiológicas y químicas de los ensilados del pasto elefante cv. BRS Capiaçu en diferentes días de rebrote. El diseño experimental fue completamente al azar y se estableció en un arreglo factorial 3x2 (tres días de rebrote, con y sin inoculante), con cuatro repeticiones. Hubo una interacción significativa entre los días de rebrote y el inoculante sobre el pH, el nitrógeno amoniacal (N-NH3) y las pérdidas por efluentes (PE) de los ensilados. La inoculación disminuyó la PE con el avance de los días de rebrote y aumentó la tasa de recuperación de materia seca en comparación con los ensilados sin inoculante. La población de mohos y levaduras disminuyó cuando se adoptó la inoculación al forraje cosechado después de 85 d. Hubo una interacción significativa entre la materia seca (MS), la proteína cruda (PC) y la fibra detergente neutro corregida por los contenidos de cenizas y proteína (FDNcp) de los ensilados. La inoculación en el pasto cosechado después de 85 días aumentó el contenido de MS del ensilado. Los mayores contenidos de PC se observaron en los ensilados después de 85 días. Los contenidos de FDNcp de los pastos cosechados después de 110 y 135 días fueron mayores que el del pasto cosechado después de 85 días. El contenido de FDNcp de los ensilados sin inoculante aumentó con la edad de cosecha. El ensilado de forraje de BRS Capiaçu cosechado a los 110 días demostró un desempeño favorable para la producción de ensilado. Sin embargo, la influencia del uso de inoculantes fue baja para las características evaluadas.

Resumo O estudo objetivou analisar o papel dos atores da cadeia de logística reversa de embalagens de agrotóxicos utilizadas no Cerrado piauiense. Para tanto, foram realizadas entrevistas com representantes dos agentes da cadeia em quatro municípios que mais produzem soja no Piauí. Participaram da pesquisa representantes da Central, da Agência de Defesa Agropecuária do Piauí, da agricultura empresarial e da agricultura familiar. Constatou-se que, apesar de iniciativas positivas como a atuação de centrais de recebimento de embalagens, de produtores e do poder público, há muito a ser feito para que haja minimização dos impactos negativos à natureza e os consequentes danos à saúde das pessoas, visto que existem falhas nos mecanismos de fiscalização do poder público junto às unidades de produção agrícola que fazem uso diariamente dos agrotóxicos. Assim, é necessária a ação conjunta dos agentes da cadeia de logística reversa, iniciada pelo poder público e disseminada para os demais elos da cadeia.

Abstract The study aimed to analyze the role of actors in the reverse logistics chain of used pesticide packaging in the Cerrado of Piauí. To that end, interviews were conducted with representatives of chain agents in the four municipalities that most produce soy in Piauí. Representatives of the Receiving Centers of the Agricultural Defense Agency of Piauí, business agriculture and family farming participated in the research. It was found that, despite positive initiatives of packaging receiving center operators, agricultural producers and the government, there is much to be done to minimize the negative impacts on nature and the consequent damage to people’s health, as there are flaws in the official mechanisms for inspecting agricultural production units that make daily use of pesticides. Thus, joint action in the reverse logistics chain is necessary, initiated by the public authorities and disseminated to the rest of the chain participants.

Resumen El estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar el papel de los actores en la cadena logística inversa de los envases de pesticidas utilizados en el Cerrado de Piauí. Con este fin, se realizaron entrevistas con representantes de agentes de la cadena en cuatro municipios que más producen soja en Piauí. Se descubrió que, a pesar de iniciativas positivas como el desempeño de los centros de recepción de envases, los productores y el gobierno, hay mucho por hacer para minimizar los impactos negativos en la naturaleza y el consiguiente daño a la salud de las personas, ya que que existen fallas en los mecanismos de inspección por parte de las autoridades públicas junto con las unidades de producción agrícola que hacen uso diario de pesticidas. Por tanto, es necesaria la actuación conjunta de los agentes de la cadena de logística inversa, iniciada por los poderes públicos y difundida al resto de la cadena.

ABSTRACT. The objective of this study was to evaluate the inclusion of protease and sugarcane yeast in poultry diets on performance, organ weight, intestinal biometry, chemical composition and deposition of body nutrients in the 1 to 7-day old phase. The experimental design consisted of a randomized complete block design, in a factorial arrangement of 2 (without and with the enzyme protease) x3 (yeast levels: 0, 6 and 12%) +1 (positive control diet), totaling seven treatments with five replicates, birds per experimental unit. The treatments used consisted of a positive control diet and the others were the negative control, with reductions in nutritional levels of protein and amino acids by 4% requirement. In the negative control diets, protease enzyme was included in three levels of sugarcane yeast. In isolation, treatments with or without inclusion of protease influenced the chemical composition of the birds. The levels of yeast from sugarcane yeast presented effects for weight gain, feed conversion, moisture and crude protein in the nutrient deposition. The inclusion of protease in diets for broiler chicks cannot remedy the poor performance provided by the use of sugarcane yeast, in addition to presenting lower levels of deposition of body nutrients.

Resumo A região da foz do rio Poti experimentou nos últimos anos impactos ambientais que resultaram na mudança da sua paisagem na estação seca, destacando-se a eutrofização e a proliferação de fitoplâncton, algas, cianobactérias e plantas aquáticas. Considerando os aspectos relacionados ao monitoramento da qualidade da água na região semiárida do Brasil a partir do sensoriamento remoto, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o desempenho dos dados do satélite Sentinel-2A, na recuperação da concentração de clorofila-a no rio Poti em Teresina, Piauí, Brasil. A metodologia de recuperação e mapeamento da concentração de clorofila-a envolveu o estudo da reflectância da superfície da água nas imagens Sentinel-2A e a respectiva correlação com dados in situ de clorofila-a, coletados em pontos de monitoramento, durante os anos de 2016 e 2017. Os resultados gerados pelas equações Chl-1, Ha et al. (2017), Chl-2, Page et al. (2018), e Chl-3, Kuhn et al. (2019), mostram a necessidade de uma calibração dos modelos utilizados aos componentes das águas do rio Poti. No entanto, o algoritmo empírico Chl-2 mostra que uma correlação foi estabelecida para identificar a variação espaço-temporal das concentrações de clorofila-a ao longo do rio Poti de maneira ampla e não mais pontual. A distribuição espacial desse pigmento nos mapas oriundos do Sentinel-2A é consistente com o padrão de ocorrência determinado pelos dados in situ. Portanto, o sensor MSI provou ser uma ferramenta adequada para a recuperação e monitoramento da concentração de clorofila-a ao longo do rio Poti.

Abstract Recently, the Poti river mouth region has experienced environmental impacts that resulted in a change of landscape in its dry season, highlighting the eutrophication and proliferation of phytoplankton, algae, cyanobacteria and aquatic plants. Considering the aspects related to water-quality monitoring in the semiarid region of Brazil from remote sensing, this study aimed to evaluate the performance of Sentinel-2A satellite data in the retrieval of chlorophyll-a concentration in Poti River in Teresina, Piaui, Brazil. The chlorophyll-a concentration retrieval and mapping methodology involved the study of the water surface reflectance in Sentinel-2A images and their correlation with the chlorophyll-a data collected in situ during the years 2016 and 2017. The results generated by the Chl-1, Ha et al. (2017), Chl-2, Page et al. (2018), and Chl-3, Kuhn et al. (2019) equations show the need for calibrating the algorithms used for the Poti River water components. However, the empirical algorithm Chl-2 shows a correlation has been established to identify the spatiotemporal variation of chlorophyll-a concentration along the Poti River broadly and not punctually. The spatial distribution of this pigment in maps derived from Sentinel-2A is consistent with the pattern of occurrence determined by the in situ data. Therefore, the MSI sensor proved to be a tool suitable for the retrieval and monitoring of chlorophyll-a concentration along the Poti River.

RESUMO Avaliou-se o efeito dos níveis de energia metabolizável incrementados com glicerina ou óleo de soja sobre o desempenho de frangos de corte em quatro fases (1 a 7; 8 a 21; 22 a 33 e 34 a 42 dias), e o rendimento de carcaça e cortes. Foram utilizadas 2400 aves com delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial (duas fontes x quatro níveis de energia), com cinco repetições. Os tratamentos foram estabelecidos por meio da inclusão da glicerina ou do óleo de soja, em intervalos de 75 kcal/kg de energia metabolizável da dieta, o primeiro nível com 75 kcal abaixo da exigência, o segundo corresponde à exigência de cada fase (2925, 2980, 3050 e 3100 Kcal) o terceiro e o quarto nível com 75 kcal e 150 kcal, acima do valor da exigência para a fase avaliada. A exigência de energia metabolizável para frangos de corte, independente da fonte de incremento energético (glicerina ou óleo de soja), foi estimada em 3.075; 3.130; 3.200 e 3.250 kcal de EM/kg de ração, para as fases de 1 a 7; 8 a 21; 22 a 33; 34 a 42 dias, respectivamente. Entretanto, a utilização de glicerina como fonte de incremento energético, promoveu melhor eficiência no desempenho nas duas primeiras fases (1 a 7 e 8 a 21 dias de idades).

ABSTRACT The effect of increased levels of metabolisable energy with glycerine or soybean oil was evaluated in the performance of broilers at four growth stages (1 to 7, 8 to 21, 22 to 33 and 34 to 42 days), in addition to the carcass and cut yield. A total of 2,400 birds were used in a completely randomised design in a 2 x 4 factorial scheme (two sources x four energy levels), with five replications. The treatments were determined by including glycerine or soybean oil at intervals of 75 kcal/kg of metabolisable energy in the diet: the first level with 75 kcal less than the requirement, the second corresponding to the requirement for each stage (2925, 2980, 3050 and 3100 Kcal), and the third and fourth levels with 75 kcal and 150 kcal more than the required value for the stage under evaluation. The metabolisable energy requirement for broilers, irrespective of the energy source (glycerine or soybean oil), was estimated at 3,075, 3.130, 3,200 and 3,250 kcal ME/kg feed, for stages 1 to 7, 8 to 21, 22 to 33 and 34 to 42 days respectively. However, the use of glycerine as a source of increased energy promoted better performance efficiency during the first two stages (1 to 7 and 8 to 21 days of age).

Resumo A lenha é um dos mais importantes produtos florestais da região Nordeste do Brasil, e cada vez mais é necessário que sua exploração seja feita de maneira sustentável. Nesse sentido, o manejo florestal tem sido uma proposta de significativa melhoria das características ambientais dessa atividade. Este trabalho teve como objetivo identificar e analisar a atividade de exploração florestal por meio de Planos de Manejo Florestal Sustentável (PMFS) no estado do Piauí. Foram analisados dados de localização e produção, no período de 2010-2015. O diagnóstico dos PMFS do Piauí foi realizado por meio de consulta ao banco de dados da coordenação de licenciamento da Secretaria Estadual de Meio Ambiente e Recursos Hídricos - SEMAR, no período de janeiro a março de 2016. Os 96 PMFS detentores de autorização representaram 117.510,60 hectares de área manejada, em propriedades cujas extensões variaram de 67,60 a 34.208,00 ha, com área manejada por propriedade entre 40,00 e 24.969,00 ha. Os talhões adotados para a exploração anual tiveram dimensões entre 7,50 e 1.945,70 ha. O volume anual autorizado, no período, foi de 1.998.986,20 st/ano. A análise dos planos indica que o estado do Piauí possui capacidade de abastecimento de matriz energética proveniente de material lenhoso oriundo do manejo florestal, e que esta atividade, ainda, resulta em significativo benefício ambiental, pelo potencial de sustentabilidade que apresenta.

Abstract Wood is one of the most important forest products in the northeast of Brazil, and it is increasingly necessary that its exploitation can be carried out in a sustainable way. In this sense, the forest management has been proposing significant improvement of the environmental characteristics of this activity. The objective of this paper was to identify and analyze the activity of forest exploitation through Sustainable Forest Management Plans (PMFS), in the state of Piauí. The localization and the production data analyzed were in the period from 2010 to 2015.The diagnosis of PMFS in Piauí state was carried out by consulting the database of the licensing coordination of the State Department of Environment and Water Resources (SEMAR), from January to March 2016. The 96 PMFS holders of authorization accounted for more than 117.510,60 hectares of managed area, in properties in which extensions ranged from 67.60 to 34,208.00 ha, with an area managed by property between 40.00 and 24,969.00 ha. The plots adopted for the annual exploration had dimensions between 7.50 and 1,945.70 ha. The authorized annual volume in the period was 1,998.986.20 st/year. The analysis of the plans indicates that the state of Piauí has capacity to supply energy matrix from woody material of forest management activities and that this still results in a significant environmental benefit, due to the sustainability potential of the activity.

RESUMO A pesquisa foi desenvolvida para avaliar o efeito da utilização de probiótico (Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subitillis, leveduras e Saccharomyces cerevisiae e Saccharomyces boulardi) em rações para tilápias, nas fases de alevino e juvenil, submetidas a desafio sanitário sobre o desempenho, a composição bromatológica da carcaça dos animais e a qualidade da água. Foram utilizados 360 alevinos, com peso médio inicial de 2,91±0,37 g e comprimento médio inicial 3,30±0,27 cm. Os tratamentos consistiram de: T1) peixes cultivados em água limpa, alimentados com ração comercial, sem uso de probiótico; T2) peixes cultivados em água de esgoto doméstico tratado e alimentados com ração comercial, sem uso de probiótico; T3) peixes cultivados em condição semelhante ao T2, com ração acrescida de probiótico. Na avaliação dos parâmetros físico-químicos do esgoto sanitário tratado, independentemente da presença ou não de cepas probióticas, apresentam-se com elevada produtividade primária. O uso de probiótico (Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus cereus e Bacillus subitillis; e leveduras - Saccharomyces cerevisiae e Saccharomyces boulardi) promove melhorias nos parâmetros de consumo de ração e taxa de crescimento específico em tilápias-do-nilo cultivadas em água tratada de esgoto doméstico, reduz a proporção de extrato etéreo no ganho de peso e eleva a proporção de proteína bruta no ganho de peso. Porém, não influencia o ganho de peso, a conversão alimentar aparente e a sobrevivência dos peixes. Os animais cultivados em água de esgoto sanitário tratado, independentemente do uso ou não das cepas probióticas, apresentam um maior teor de proteína e menor teor de gordura.

ABSTRACT The research was conducted to evaluate the effect of using probiotic (Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subitillis, yeasts and Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Saccharomyces boulardi) in diets for tilapia, during the fingerling and juvenile stages, that underwent sanitary challenge on performance, chemical composition of the carcasses and water quality. We used three hundred and sixty fingerlings with initial average weight of 2.91±0.37 g and initial average length of 3.30±0.27 cm. The treatments were: T1) farmed fish in clean water, fed with commercial food without the use of probiotics; T2) fish reared in treated sewage water and fed with commercial food without the use of probiotics; T3) farmed fish in a condition similar to T2, with food plus probiotic. In the evaluation of physicochemical parameters of the treated sewage, regardless of the presence or not of probiotic strains, it presents a high primary productivity. The use of probiotics (Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus cereus and Bacillus subitillis and yeasts - Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Saccharomyces boulardi) promotes improvements in the parameters of feed intake and specific growth rate in the Nile tilapia grown in treated water from sewage, reduces the proportion of lipids in weight gain and increases the proportion of crude protein in weight gain. However, it does not influence weight gain, feed conversion and fish survival. Fish grown in treated sanitary sewage, regardless of the use or not of probiotic strains have a higher protein content and lower fat content.

RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar o uso de enzimas exógenas em dietas com Saccharomyces cerevisiae sobre o desempenho zootécnico, rendimento de carcaça e histomorfometria intestinal de frangos de corte na fase inicial. Utilizou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 2×3+1, sendo dois níveis de complexo enzimático (CE), (0 e 200g/ton), três níveis de levedura (0, 6 e 12%) e uma dieta controle, perfazendo sete tratamentos, cinco repetições de 20 aves por unidade experimental. Foram avaliados o desempenho (consumo de ração, ganho de peso e conversão alimentar), rendimento de carcaça e cortes e a histomorfometria do intestino delgado (altura, perímetro e largura de vilo, altura e largura de cripta, espessura da parede muscular intestinal e relação vilo/cripta). Na fase de 1 a 7 e de 1 a 21 dias, a inclusão de levedura na dieta promoveu redução no desempenho dos frangos. Aos 21 dias a adição de CE resultou em aumento (p<0,05) da espessura da parede muscular do duodeno, e reduziu a largura da cripta no íleo. O nível de 12% de levedura sem o CE proporcionou parede muscular intestinal do jejuno mais espessa quando comparada ao controle positivo. Não houve efeito significativo para rendimento de carcaça e cortes entre os tratamentos. Conclui-se que, a inclusão de levedura reduz o desempenho de 1 a 21 dias. A adição de complexo enzimático e levedura em dietas para frangos de corte não melhora o desempenho e rendimento de carcaça, todavia, beneficia à mucosa intestinal.

SUMMARY This study aimed at evaluating the use of exogenous enzymes in diets with Saccharomyces cerevisiae and their impact on zootechnical performance, carcass yield, intestinal histomorphometry and of broiler diets in the initial phase. A completely randomized design was used in a 2×3 + 1 factorial arrangement, with two levels of enzyme complex (EC), (0 and 200g / ton), three yeast levels (0, 6 and 12%) and a control diet, making up seven treatments, with five replicates of 20 broilers per experimental unit. We evaluated the performance (feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion ratio), carcass yield and cuts, histomorphometry of the small intestine (height, circumference and width of villi, height and width of the crypt, thickness of the intestinal muscle wall and villi/crypt relationship). From 1 to 7 and 1 to 21 days, the inclusion of yeast led to reduced broiler performance. At 21 days, the addition of EC resulted in an increase of (p <0.05) in the thickness of the muscular wall of the duodenum and decreased the width of the crypt in the ileum. The 12% level of yeast without the EC provided a thicker jejunum intestinal muscle wall when compared to the positive control. There was no significant effect on carcass yield and cuts between treatments. In conclusion, the inclusion of yeast reduces performance from 1-21 days. The enzyme complex and yeast does not change the performance or carcass yield, however, it does bring benefits to the intestinal mucosa.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of three levels of crude cottonseed oil on performance, organ weights, and blood parameters of growing broilers. Carcass and cut yields after 33 and 42 days of age and the economic viability of the diets were also evaluated. Male broilers of the Ross line were distributed in a completely randomized design, in a 4 × 2 factorial arrangement (0, 2, 4, and 6% inclusion of cottonseed oil, with and without ferrous sulfate) with five replicates. In the period from 22 to 33 days, quadratic and increasing linear effects were observed on feed intake and weight gain, respectively. Feed conversion during the same period was better with the addition of ferrous sulfate. The addition of ferrous sulfate caused a reduction in heart weight. From 22 to 42 days, carcass and cuts yield, organ weight, and intestine length were not influenced by the levels of oil or by the addition of ferrous sulfate. Supplementation with iron salts provided a lower red blood cell count and increased mean cell volume. Balanced diets formulated with up to 6% of crude cottonseed oil for broilers from 22-33 and 22-42 days of age do not affect their performance or the weight of their organs. Supplementation with ferrous sulfate improved feed conversion up to 33 days. Diets formulated with 4% cottonseed oil supplemented with ferrous sulfate are economically viable in the period from 22 to 42 days.

A pesquisa foi desenvolvida para avaliar o desempenho, a morfometria duodenal e as alterações histopatológicas do fígado de frangos de corte, alimentados com dietas contendo diferentes níveis de selênio (0,5; 1,1; 1,7; 2,3; 2,9 e 3,5ppm de Se/kg de ração), criados no período de 1 a 21 dias de idade, em condições de estresse calórico. As aves receberam dietas isonutritivas à base de milho e farelo de soja, formuladas para atender as exigências nutricionais, exceto para o selênio. A partir de uma dieta basal foi feita a suplementação do selênio, com o uso de selenometionina (Sel-Plex®). Setecentos e vinte pintos da linhagem Ross 308, mistos, foram utilizados em delineamento de blocos casualizados, com seis tratamentos e seis repetições com vinte aves por unidade experimental. O ambiente interno dos galpões foi avaliado com base no Índice de Temperatura de Globo Negro e Umidade(ITGU),no Índice de Temperatura e Umidade(ITU)e Temperatura Efetiva(TE). O uso da suplementação de selênio orgânico na alimentação de frangos de corte melhora a conversão alimentar, mas, não interfere nos parâmetros comprimento de cripta e altura de vilosidade e não promove reação inflamatória no fígado destes, nos níveis testados.

The research was conducted to evaluate the performance, duodenal morphology and histopathological changes in the liver of broilers fed diets containing different levels of selenium (0.5, 1.1, 1.7, 2.3, 2, 9 and 3.5ppm Se / kg diet), created in the period 1-21 days old, under heat stress conditions. The birds were isonutritives diets based on corn and soybean meal, formulated to meet the nutritional requirements, except for selenium. From a basic diet supplementation of selenium was taken, such as use of selenomethionine (Sel - Plex®). Seven hundred and twenty chicks of mixed lineage Ross 308, were used in a randomized complete block design with six treatments and six replicates of twenty birds each. The internal environment of the sheds was evaluated based on the Temperature Index Black Globe Humidity (BGT), the Temperature and Humidity Index (THI) and Effective Temperature (ET). The use of organic selenium supplementation in the diet of broilers improves feed conversion, but does not interfere in the length parameter crypt and villus height and does not promote inflammation in the liver of these, in both levels.

Objetivou-se avaliar o uso do zinco e da vitamina E em dietas para frangos de corte mantidos em cama reutilizada, no período de 1 a 21 dias de idade, sobre o desempenho, peso dos órgãos linfoides, digestivos e coração. Setecentos pintos distribuídos em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 2x3+1, sendo dois níveis de zinco (0,0 e 120mg/kg da dieta) associados a três níveis de vitamina E (0,0; 300 e 600mg/kg da dieta), uma dieta controle e cinco repetições, foram criados em galpões de alvenaria coberto de telhas de cerâmica e piso cimentado. No período de 1 a 21 dias, o ganho de peso é maior, sem a suplementação de zinco e vitamina E, quando as aves são mantidas em cama reutilizada em relação àquelas criadas em cama nova. A suplementação isolada de 300mg de vitamina E/kg e a associação de 120mg de zinco/kg com 600mg de vitamina E/kg conferem maior ganho de peso aos frangos de corte criados em cama reutilizada em comparação às aves alimentadas com dieta controle mantidas em cama nova. Conclui-se que os níveis de zinco e de vitamina E avaliados não melhoram os parâmetros de desempenho de frangos de corte mantidos em cama reutilizada de 1 a 21 dias de idade. O peso do intestino aumenta e o do baço diminui à medida que a vitamina E é suplementada na dietas desses animais.

The objective of this research was to evaluate the use of zinc and vitamin E in diets for broilers kept in reused litter, between 1-21 days of age, over performance, lymphoid organs, heart and digestive organs weight. Seven hundred chicks distributed in a completely randomized design in a factorial scheme 2x3+1, with two levels of zinc (0.0 and 120 mg/kg diet) associated with three levels of vitamin E (0.0, 300 and 600mg/kg diet), a control diet and five replications, were created in sheds covered masonry ceramic tiles and concrete floor . In the period of 1-21 days the weight gain is greater, without supplementation of zinc and vitamin E, when birds are kept on reused litter compared to those kept on new litter. The isolated supplementation of 300mg vitamin E/kg and the combination of 120mg zinc/kg with 600mg vitamin E/kg gives greater weight gain for broilers raised on reused litter compared to birds fed in a control diet kept in new litter. We conclude that the reviews levels of zinc and vitamin E do not improve feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion, the production viability and productive efficiency rate of broilers kept in re-used litter of 1 to 21 days of age. The intestine weight increases and the spleen's decreases as vitamin E is supplemented in the diets of these animals.

Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da cepa probiótica Saccharomy cerevisiae na alimentação de pós-lavas de tilápias-do-nilo submetidas a desafio sanitário (fezes de ovinos). Foram selecionadas 300 pós-larvas, com média de peso e comprimentos uniformes. Os tratamentos consistiram de peixes cultivados em água limpa com ração comercial, em quantidade de 10% da biomassa, sem o uso de probiótico e peixes cultivados em água sob desafio sanitário, alimentados com ração comercial, em quantidade de 10% da biomassa e com o uso de probiótico (1,0g Kg-1). Para promover o desafio sanitário aos peixes, foram dissolvidos 50g de fezes de ovinos trituradas in naturaem 1000,0mL de água. Foram avaliadas as variáveis da qualidade da água para determinação imposta pelos dois tratamentos experimentais. Constatou-se efeito significativo (P<0,05) na concentração de fósforo total, pH e oxigênio dissolvido da água com fezes de ovinos, representando o desafio do meio, fato este essencial para a realização desse experimento. Não houve efeito significativo (P>0,05) nas variáveis de desempenho, sobrevivência e índice hepato-somático. As pós-larvas de tilápias-do-nilo alimentadas com ração contendo probiótico (1g.kg-1) submetidas a desafio sanitário proporcionam melhorias no desempenho, sobrevivência e índice hepatossomático equiparando-se aos peixes de água limpa sem o uso de probiótico.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the probiotic Saccharomyces cerevisiaein feeding post-lavas of Nile tilapia subjected to sanitary challenge (sheep feces). 300 post-larvae were selected, with average weight and uniform lengths. The treatments consisted of fish grown in commercial feed with clean water, in an amount of 10% of the biomass, without the use of probiotics and fish grown in water under sanitary challenge fed with commercial diet at 10% of the amount of biomass and the use of probiotics (1.0g kg-1). To promote the health challenge the fish were dissolved 50g of feces in sheep nature crushed in 1000.0 ml of water. Variables of water quality to determine imposed by the two experimental treatments were evaluated. A significant effect (P<0.05) in the concentration of total phosphorus, pH and dissolved oxygen water with sheep faeces, representing half of the challenge, a fact essential to conduct this experiment. There was no significant effect (P>0.05) in performance variables, survival and hepato-somatic index. Post-larvae of Nile tilapia fed diet containing probiotic (1g.kg-1) submitted to health challenge provide improvements in performance, survival and liver somatic index matching up to clean water fish without using probiotic.

Avaliaram-se diferentes níveis de inclusão da raspa integral da raiz de mandioca (RIM) com o objetivo de avaliar o desempenho produtivo e a metabolizabilidade da matéria seca, da proteína bruta e da energia bruta de frangos de corte, no período de um a 21 dias de idade. No ensaio de desempenho, foram utilizadas 400 aves fêmeas da linhagem Ross e para o de metabolismo, 100 frangos machos da mesma linhagem. O delineamento experimental dos dois ensaios foi o de blocos ao acaso, com cinco tratamentos, quatro repetições e 20 aves alojadas em cada boxe para o ensaio de desempenho. Cinco aves foram alojadas em cada gaiola metabólica, para o estudo de metabolismo. Os tratamentos consistiram de rações contendo 0, 5, 10, 15 e 20% de inclusão de RIM. A RIM mandioca pode ser incluída em até 5,1% na ração de frangos de corte, no período de 1 a 21 dias, sem comprometimento da conversão alimentar e do índice de eficiência produtiva. As variáveis de metabolizabilidade da matéria seca, da proteína bruta, da energia bruta e o balanço de nitrogênio das rações não são influenciadas pelos níveis de inclusão da RIM em até 20%, no período de um a 21 dias.

The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of including whole cassava root scrapings (WCS) in diets of broilers on performance and the metabolizability of dry matter, crude protein, and gross energy and on nitrogenous balance. Four hundred female and 100 male broilers from Ross strain were used in the performance and metabolism studies, respectively. In both studies, broilers were allotted in completely randomized block design with five treatments and four replicates. The experimental unit was represented for twenty birds per box for performance study and five birds per metabolic cage for metabolism study. The treatments consisted of diets containing 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20% WCS inclusion. Up to 5.1% WCS can be included in the diet of broilers from 1 to 21 without compromising feed conversion and productive efficiency index. Dry matter, crude protein, and gross energy metabolizability and the nitrogen balance of the diets are not influenced by the inclusion of whole cassava root scrapings up to 20% in diets of broilers from 1 to 21 days of age.

O experimento foi conduzido para avaliar o efeito da inclusão de diferentes níveis de fitase nas dietas de frangos de corte, alojados em ambientes com e sem nebulização, sobre as variáveis de desempenho, incorporação de proteína bruta, cálcio e fósforo na carcaça e os teores de nitrogênio, cálcio e fósforo na cama das aves no período de um a 21 dias de idade. Foram alojados 640 pintainhos em boxes distribuídos uniformemente em dois galpões, ambos equipados com ventiladores e apenas um continha nebulizadores. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 5 x 2, cinco níveis de fitase: 0; 1000; 2000; 3000 e 4000 FTU/kg de ração, associados a dois ambientes (galpão com ventilação e nebulização e galpão com ventilação sem nebulização), quatro repetições e 16 aves por unidade experimental. As aves receberam dietas isonutritivas à base de milho e farelo de soja, formuladas para atender as exigências nutricionais, exceto para fósforo disponível, que foi reduzido em 20% da exigência. O ambiente com ventilação e nebulização melhora o ganho de peso, a viabilidade da criação e o índice de eficiência produtiva, além de aumentar a incorporação de proteína bruta e fósforo na carcaça. A suplementação de fitase até 4000 FTU/kg em dietas com redução de 20% do fósforo disponível aumenta o ganho de peso, o índice de eficiência produtiva e a incorporação de proteína bruta na carcaça, e reduz os teores de fósforo na cama.

The experiment was conducted to evaluate effect of different inclusion levels of phytase in diets of broilers housed in environments with and without fogging on performance variables, incorporation of crude protein, calcium and phosphorus in carcass and contents of nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus in litter of birds during 1-21 days of age. Day-old chicks (640) were housed in cages uniformly distributed in two sheds, both equipped with ventilators and only one had nebulizers. The experimental design was completely randomized, factorial 5 x 2, five levels of phytase: 0, 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 FTU/kg diet, associated with two environments (shed with ventilation and fogging and shed with ventilation without fogging), four replicates and 16 birds per experimental unit. The birds were isonutritives based on corn and soybean meal, formulated to meet nutritional requirements, except available phosphorus, which was reduced in 20% of requirement diets. Room with ventilation and fogging improves weight gain, feasibility and productive efficiency, and increase incorporation of crude protein and phosphorus in carcass. Phytase supplementation to 4000 FTU/kg in diets with 20% reduction of available phosphorus increases weight gains, productive efficiency and incorporation of crude protein in carcass, and reduces levels of phosphorus in bed.

A pesquisa foi conduzida para avaliar o desempenho, metabolizabilidade dos nutrientes e rendimento de carcaça e dos principais cortes comerciais de frangos de cortes alimentados com dietas contendo aditivos alternativos a antibióticos promotores de crescimento, no período de 22 a 42 dias. Os tratamentos foram constituídos de uma ração controle padrão para atender as exigências das aves em cada fase e os demais adicionados de antibiótico; probióticos, prebióticos e simbióticos, com quatro repetições. O uso de probiótico (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus faecium e Bifidumbacterium bifidum), do prebiótico (mananoligossacarídeo - MOS) e simbióticos, em ração de frangos de corte, proporciona resultado semelhante ao uso do antibiótico avilamicina 12% para desempenho, rendimento de carcaça e cortes comerciais (peito, dorso, coxa, sobrecoxa, asas, entreasas), coeficiente de metabolizabilidade da matéria seca, da proteína bruta e da energia bruta, no período de 22 a 42 dias de idade, constituindo esses aditivos em alternativa importante na substituição dos antibióticos promotores de crescimento.

This research was conducted to evaluate the performance, metabolizability of nutrients and yield of carcass and the most commercial cuts of broiler chickens fed with diets containing antibiotic growth promoter, probiotics, prebiotic and symbiotics, in the period from 22 to 42 days of age. The experimental treatments were constituted of the basal diet to attempt the nutritional requirements of birds in each phase and others treatments were added of antibiotic; probiotics; prebiotic and symbiotics. The use of probiotic (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus faecium and Bifidumbacterium bifidum), and prebiotic (mananoligossacarídeo-MOS) and symbiotics in ration of broiler chicken feed, produce performance, carcass yield and yield of most of the commercial cuts (breast, back, thigh, drumstick, wings and wing drumette), as well as metabolizability coefficient of dry matter, crude protein and gross energy, similar to that achieved with the use of the antibiotic Avilamycin 12%, during the period from 22 to 42 days of age. This way, these additives are important alternative in the substitution of antibiotics.
