Resumo: A pecuária leiteira familiar é relevante para a agropecuária nacional que, embora contribua com a geração de riqueza e renda, enfrenta baixas eficiência, produtividade e custos de produção elevados. Objetivou-se analisar a eficiência técnica de propriedades leiteiras familiares no Estado de Minas Gerais. Utilizou-se a Análise por Envoltória de Dados (DEA) com modelo BCC orientado a inputs. Quanto maior foi o nível de eficiência das DMU’s, menos recursos foram utilizados em excesso. Foi identificada, ainda, a inexistência de DMU’s que realizaram manutenção preventiva de máquinas, implementos e benfeitorias, justificando o aumento da utilização, principalmente, do insumo MIB (manutenção de máquinas, implementos e benfeitorias). Com esta pesquisa, sugeriu-se o Índice de Comprometimento de Insumos em Leite (ICIL), que evidencia o percentual da produção que está comprometida para comprar um determinado insumo. Quanto maior foi o nível de eficiência das DMU’s, menor foi o ICIL, que passou de 49,36% (eficientes) para 67,47% (com eficiência baixa). Este se mostrou um importante indicador de eficiência de propriedades leiteiras, responsável por evidenciar a quantidade de leite produzido que está comprometida com o pagamento dos insumos utilizados na atividade leiteira. Abstract: Family dairy farming is relevant for national agriculture which, although it contributes to the generation of wealth and income, faces low efficiency, productivity and high production costs. The objective was to analyze the technical efficiency of family dairy farms in the State of Minas Gerais. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with input-oriented BCC model was used. The higher the efficiency level of the DMUs, the fewer resources were used in excess. Abstract Robotic milking systems are successful innovations in the development of dairy cattle. The objective of this study was to analyse the milking characteristics and behavior of dairy cows of different calving orders in “milk first” robotic milking systems. The data were collected from a commercial herd located in the Midwest region of Minas Gerais (Brazil), which uses an automatic milking system (AMS TM, DeLaval). Were analysed 26,574 observations of 235 Holstein cows were available. Data were evaluated by multivariate analysis of variance and the Tukey test. - Tthe characteristics milk flow and milking efficiency were more favourable for multiparous cows (p <0.01), while the time in the stall was more favourable for primiparous females (p <0.01). The values of handling time were better in the primiparous cows (p <0.01). Primiparous cows had higher amounts of kick-off (p <0.001), and multiparous cows had higher incomplete milkings (p <0.001). The number of incomplete milkings showed a higher ratio in terms of reduction in milk production in 26.6% in primiparous cows and 26.7% in multiparous cows (p <0.01). ABSTRACT. Burger is a practical source of animal protein for consumers, sold both raw (ready-to-cook) and cooked (ready-to-eat), and can be an alternative to stimulate the consumption of rabbit meat, which is a source of healthy animal protein. This study evaluated the effects of different levels of oat bran addition on physicochemical properties and sensory acceptance of rabbit meat burgers. Burgers were formulated with 0, 5, 10, and 15% oat bran plus garlic and salt, then manually processed and analyzed for composition, technological parameters (pH, cooking loss, shrinkage percentage, water holding, texture, and color), and sensorial acceptance. The higher the levels of inclusion of oat bran, the lower the burger moisture (p < 0.0001). Burgers with 15% oat bran presented higher content of lipids and carbohydrates, thus higher caloric value (p < 0.0001). The loss of water during cooking was greater in the burger without the inclusion of oat bran (p < 0.05). No significant difference was found for color and aroma attributes. Overall acceptability was higher for burgers with 5% oat bran. Rabbit meat burgers containing oat bran may represent a viable alternative to improving their sensory and technological profiles and overall consumer acceptance. Para tanto, propriedades leiteiras com diferentes níveis de eficiência (alta, média e baixa) foram comparadas por meio de Análise Envoltória de Dados (DEA), estatística descritiva e testes de diferença de médias, sendo analisadas variáveis socioeconômicas, de custos e de desempenho econômico. Para aumentar a eficiência técnica de propriedades leiteiras, é importante reduzir o custo operacional total (COT) e o custo operacional efetivo (COE) otimizando seus componentes. ABSTRACT Dairy farming is essential for Brazilian agriculture and, especially, for the Minas Gerais State. The understanding of technical efficiency and its impacts on the economic performance of dairy farms contributes to the development of the milk production chain. In the context of organizations, the Firm Theory helps in understanding how production factors affect the economic performance of these organizations, which are little studied in dairy farming. The objective of this study was to identify the main characteristics that differentiate dairy farms in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. For this purpose, dairy farms with different levels of efficiency (high, medium and low) were compared using data envelopment analysis (DEA), descriptive statistics and mean difference tests, analyzing socioeconomic, cost and economic performance variables. RESUMO - RACIONAL: A utilização do escore clínico Appendicitis Inflammatory Response em pacientes com suspeita de apendicite aguda torna o diagnóstico mais objetivo e preciso. OBJETIVOS: Comparar prospectivamente dois grupos com suspeita de apendicite aguda, analisando o número de exames de imagem solicitados, o tempo de espera no Pronto-Socorro, até a definição da conduta, bem como a sensibilidade e especificidade desse método diagnóstico. MÉTODOS: Estudo prospectivo randomizado comparando 55 pacientes submetidos ao diagnóstico clínico-radiológico de acordo com a rotina do Serviço (grupo controle), com outros 55 pacientes submetidos ao fluxograma do escore Appendicitis Inflammatory Response (grupo intervenção). RESULTADOS: O tempo de espera para definir a conduta do grupo intervenção foi 1,5 hora menor do que o grupo controle (p=0,02). A tomografia computadorizada foi realizada em 42 pacientes do grupo controle, em comparação com 25 do grupo intervenção (p=0,001). O impacto do fluxograma baseado no escore Appendicitis Inflammatory Response dos casos em relação ao grupo controle foi a redução de apendicectomias com apêndice de aparência normal de 5 para 1 e um aumento na exclusão de diagnósticos de apendicite. O uso do escore Appendicitis Inflammatory Response resultou em especificidade diagnóstica de 92%, comparado a 29% no grupo controle. CONCLUSÕES: A utilização do escore Appendicitis Inflammatory Response reduziu o tempo de espera para o diagnóstico de apendicite aguda, diminuiu o número de exames de imagem e aumentou a especificidade diagnóstica da doença.

ABSTRACT - BACKGROUND: The use of Appendicitis Inflammatory Response clinical score in patients with suspected acute appendicitis makes the diagnosis more objective and accurate. AIMS: The aim of this study was to prospectively compare two groups with suspected acute appendicitis, analyzing the number of imaging tests requested, waiting time in the emergency department, until definition of conduct, as well as the sensitivity and specificity of this diagnostic method. METHODS: This is a prospective randomized study comparing 55 patients submitted to clinical-radiological diagnosis according to the routine of the service (control group), with another 55 patients submitted to the Appendicitis Inflammatory Response score flowchart (intervention group). RESULTS: Waiting time for defining the intervention group’s conduct was 1.5 h shorter than the control group (p=0.02). Computed tomography was performed in 42 patients in the control group, compared with 25 in the intervention group (p=0.001). The impact of the flowchart based on the Appendicitis Inflammatory Response score of the cases compared to the control group was the reduction of appendectomies with a normal-appearing appendix from 5 to 1 and an increase in the exclusion of appendicitis diagnoses. The use of the Appendicitis Inflammatory Response score resulted in a diagnostic specificity of 92%, compared to 29% in the control group. CONCLUSIONS: The use of the Appendicitis Inflammatory Response score reduced the waiting time for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis, decreased the number of imaging tests, and increased diagnostic specificity of the disease.

Abstract Three SAR-derived observations of dark surface patches along the Northeastern Brazilian coastline by the end of 2019 were misreported in the Brazilian media as oil spill-related. Unfortunately, these observations were misled by false positives or look-alikes. Therefore, this paper aims to technically evaluate these look-alike classes by analyzing image attributes found to be helpful to the identification of ocean targets, including oil spills, rain cells, biofilms, and low wind conditions. We use image augmentation to extend our dataset size and create the probability density function curves. The processing includes image segmentation, optimal attribute extraction, and classification with random forest classifiers. Our results contrast with the open-source oil spill detection system and patch classifier methodology called “RIOSS.” Analysis of the feature probability density functions based on optimal attributes is promising since we could capture most of the false positive targets in the three SAR-reported images in 2019. The only exception was the biofilm slick observed on October 28th, where the RIOSS mistakenly classified this organic patch as a low wind region with oil spots. This pitfall is acceptable at this project stage since we had only five biogenic film samples to train the algorithm.

ABSTRACT Currently, the Milwaukee protocol presents healing results in human beings affected by the rabies virus. However, there are many points to clarify on the action of drugs and the immune mechanism involved in the evolution of the disease. One of the drugs used is biopterin, which is an important cofactor for nitric oxide, important for preventing vasospasm. Thus, we describe the effect of biopterin on some inflammatory factors in a rabies virus infection developed in an animal model. The immunological mediators studied in animals infected with rabies virus submitted to doses of sapropterin were Anti-RABV, IL-6, IL-2, IL-17a, INF-gamma and Anti-iNOS. It is suggested that the medication in the context of a RABV infection already installed, had the effect of modulating the inflammatory mechanisms mainly linked to the permeability of the blood-brain barrier and the migration of cytotoxic cells.

Abstract Bacteria with lipolytic activity are widespread in the marine environment. These organisms can be used as a source of lipases with activity in unusual conditions such as low temperatures and high salinities. These characteristics allow them to be applied to several industrial processes and products including wastewater treatment and detergent production. In this context the lipolytic activity of bacteria isolated from deep-sea sediments of the South Atlantic was evaluated. Among the collection studied, two strains, Halomonas sulfidaeris LAMA 838 and Marinobacter excellens LAMA 842, were selected for further analysis concerning their growth and lipolytic activity in different temperatures and culture media. Both strains were characterized as mesophiles: H. sulfidaeris LAMA 838 grew best at 30ºC, while M. excellens LAMA 842 showed a maximum growth rate between 20 and 25ºC. Maximum lipolytic activity for both microorganisms was observed above 45ºC, but only M. excellens LAMA 842 had lipolytic activity at low temperatures (5ºC) as well. Considering the culture media employed, H. sulfidaeris LAMA 838 grew better in marine broth without Tween 40, while M. excellens LAMA 842 grew best in marine broth supplemented with Tween 40. Both organisms had maximum lipolytic activity in rich or minimal media supplemented with Tween 40. These results demonstrate the potential of deep-sea bacteria as sources of lipases and indicate conditions that may be used in their cultivation and for the production of industrially relevant enzymes.

Métodos: Estudo multinível que utilizou dados de 23.575 adultos mais velhos das 27 unidades federativas que participaram da Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde de 2013. O índice de limitação de atividades foi desenvolvido a partir da teoria de resposta ao item, utilizando-se variáveis de atividades básicas e instrumentais da vida diária. Foram estimadas as associações das variáveis individuais e contextuais com a incapacidade, avaliando-se a magnitude das diferenças entre os gêneros, ao utilizar efeitos de interação de nível cruzado em modelos lineares generalizados multiníveis, incluindo-se apenas as variáveis que foram estatisticamente significantes no modelo final. Resultados: A prevalência de incapacidade foi mais elevada entre as mulheres (37,6%) do que entre os homens (26,5%), totalizando 32,7% dos adultos mais velhos. Na análise multinível ajustada, a incapacidade foi influenciada pela desigualdade de renda (γgini = 0,022, p < 0,001) entre as unidades federativas. Além disso, as diferenças de gênero na incapacidade foram associadas com as desigualdades sociais de gênero (γmgiiXsex = 0,020, p = 0,004). Conclusões: As mulheres tiveram desvantagens maiores de incapacidade quando comparadas aos homens, e estas diferenças foram associadas às desigualdades sociais de gênero entre unidades federativas brasileiras, influenciadas pelas desigualdades de renda.

Results: The prevalence of disability was higher among women (37.6%) than among men (26.5%), totaling 32.7% of the older adults. In the adjusted multilevel analysis, disability was influenced by income inequality (γgini = 0.022, p < 0.001) among federative units. In addition, gender differences in disability were associated with social gender inequalities (γmgiiXsex = 0.020, p = 0.004). A coleta de dados ocorreu com idosos de Natal e região metropolitana em 2018. Os critérios de inclusão foram: ter 60 anos ou mais, com níveis cognitivos preservados. Duzentos e seis idosos participaram do estudo de AFC e 197 participaram da análise de acurácia. As estimativas dos índices avaliados na AFC foram: X2/gl=1,33, RMSEA=0,04 (IC95% 0,025-0,054) e CFI=0,91. A curva ROC obteve área de 0,78 (IC95: 0,72-0,85; p<0,001) para a determinação de idosos com baixo ASI. O J de maior valor foi de 0,44 para pontuação ≤34, o qual tem uma S de 59,76% e E de 84,96%. O instrumento apresentou um modelo bem ajustado com quatro dimensões, segundo critérios da AFC. Apresentou boa área sob a curva ROC e boa E e S moderada para o valor de corte de 34 pontos ou menos para o diagnóstico do ASI insuficiente. Os bons indicadores de VP+ e VP- reforçaram sua acurácia desejável.

Abstract The objective of the present study was to confirm the validity of the Guedes Tool, an instrument for assessing informal social support (ISS) for older adults, and to estimate its accuracy. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed with the CFI and RMSEA indexes and the chi-square relationship (X2) with degrees of freedom (gl). For the analysis of accuracy, the area under the ROC curve, sensitivity (S) and specificity (SP) values, positive predictive value (PV+), negative predictive value (PV-) and the Younder’s J Index (J) were verified to confirm the best cut-off point. Data collection was carried out with older adults from Natal and metropolitan region in 2018. The inclusion criteria were: be 60 years old or older, with preserved cognitive levels. Two hundred and six older adults participated in the CFA study and 197 participated in the accuracy analysis. The estimates of the indexes evaluated in the CFA were: X2/gl =1.33, RMSEA=0.04 (95% CI 0.025-0.054) and CFI=0.91. The ROC curve obtained an area of 0.78 (CI95: 0.72-0.85; p<0.001) for the determination of older adults with low ISS. The highest value J was 0.44 for a score ≤34, with an S value of 59.76% and an SP value of 84.96%. The instrument presented a well-adjusted model with four dimensions, according to CFA criteria. It had a good area under the ROC curve and good to moderate S and SP values for the cutoff value of 34 points or less, for the diagnosis of insufficient ISS. Good PV+ and PV- indicators confirmed the desirable levels of accuracy of the tool.

Abstract The Glória Norte Stock (GNS) is made up of predominantly porphyritic biotite- amphibole-bearing quartz monzonite, enclosing a large number of microgranular mafic enclaves (MME). The GNS MME are fine-grained rocks with rounded and ellipsoid shapes that show sharp and gradational contacts with the host rocks, suggesting they coexisted with the host monzonite as magmas. The studied amphibole crystals of the two rock types are calcic and correspond to pargasite, edenite, and magnesium-hornblende. Their compositions are influenced by substitutions involving Al3+, Na+, Fe2+, Si4+ and Mg2+ ions, reflecting the decrease in temperature and the increase in oxygen fugacity. They present low Ti and Al contents, and varied Si content (6.2-7.7 apuf). The mg# values range from 0.48-0.84. Pressures for the crystallization of the MME amphiboles vary between 2.6 and 7.8 kbar and the temperatures of solidus and liquidus were estimated between 600-659 and 887-908ºC, respectively. The early MME amphibole crystals with lower Si and Mg content were formed under high pressure (7.8 kbar) and temperature (908 °C). The presence of amphiboles with 862ºC and 5 kbar in MME and GNS reflects that the interaction between these magmas occurred at 18 km of depth.

Resumen El objetivo del presente artículo es identificar cuáles son los indicadores económicos-financieros que mejor distinguen a las empresas brasileras de capital abierto por medio de concesión de crédito y evaluar cuáles de las técnicas utilizadas son las más precisas para prever la bancarrota de las empresas. Los métodos utilizados para prever la insolvencia fueron análisis discriminante, regresión logística y redes neuronales. La muestra fue compuesta por 121 empresas de diversos sectores, siendo 70 solventes y 51 insolventes. Los análisis utilizaron 35 indicadores económicos-financieros. Los indicadores económicos-financieros más relevantes fueron: necesidad de capital de trabajo sobre utilidad líquida, termómetro de liquidez, retorno sobre el patrimonio líquido, margen de beneficio, ratio de endeudamiento y patrimonio líquido sobre los activos. El modelo de redes neuronales presentó una mayor precisión y fue corroborada por la Curvas Características Operativas del Receptor (curva ROC).

Abstract The aims of the present article are to identify the economic-financial indicators that best characterize Brazilian public companies through credit-granting analysis and to assess the most accurate techniques used to forecast business bankruptcy. Discriminant analysis, logistic regression and neural networks were the most used methods to predict insolvency. The sample comprised 121 companies from different sectors, 70 of them solvent and 51 insolvent. The conducted analyses were based on 35 economic-financial indicators. Need of working capital for net income, liquidity thermometer, return on equity, net margin, debt breakdown and equity on assets were the most relevant economic-financial indicators. Neural networks recorded the best accuracy and the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curves (ROC curve) corroborated this outcome. JEL Classification: G110, G210, G330.

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é identificar quais são os indicadores econômico-financeiros que melhor distinguem as empresas de capital aberto brasileiras por meio da concessão de credito e avaliar quais das técnicas utilizadas são as mais precisas para prever a falência das empresas. Os métodos utilizados para antecipar a insolvência foram analise discriminante, regressão logística e redes neurais. A amostra foi composta por 121 empresas de diversos setores, sendo 70 solventes e 51 insolventes. As analises utilizaram 35 indicadores econômico-financeiros. Os indicadores-econômico-financeiros mais relevantes foram: necessidade de capital de giro sobre lucro líquido, termômetro de liquidez, retorno sobre patrimônio líquido, margem de lucro, índice de dívida e patrimônio líquido sobre ativos. O modelo de rede neural apresentou maior precisão e foi corroborado pela curva ROC.
