RESUMO Objetivou-se com este trabalho identificar as características de maior importância para a seleção de matrizes de Corymbia citriodora para à produção de madeira e óleo essencial. O estudo foi realizado em áreas experimentais da empresa JAMP Florestal localizada em Dueré-TO e na Universidade Federal do Tocantins, Câmpus de Gurupi, entre janeiro e abril de 2014, em 19 matrizes baseado em 19 características. De posse dos dados foi realizado, o agrupamento pelo método de otimização de Tocher, calculado a dissimilaridade genética entre as matrizes, quantificado a contribuição relativa e verificado o grau de correlação existente entre as características avaliadas através da correlação de Pearson utilizando o programa GENES. As características rendimento de óleo essencial e diâmetro do cerne foram as que apresentaram as maiores contribuições para a dissimilaridade genética, devendo-se priorizar para a produção de madeira, árvores com menores valores em altura da copa e diâmetro do alburno, e árvores com maiores valores em altura total, altura comercial, diâmetro à altura do peito e diâmetro da cepa. Para a produção de óleo essencial, deve-se priorizar árvores com menores largura de folha, espessura da casca e diâmetro do alburno e árvores com maiores teor de nitrogênio foliar, teor de potássio foliar, biomassa verde e seca total, rendimento de óleo essencial, teor de óleo essencial e volume de copa.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to identify the most important characteristics for the selection of parent trees of Corymbia citriodora by estimating genetic dissimilarity and linear correlation degree for wood and essential oil production. This study was conducted in experimental areas of the company JAMP Florestal -located in Dueré-TO -and at Universidade Federal do Tocantins (Federal University of Tocantins), campus Gurupi, from January to April 2014, in 19 parent trees based on 19 characteristics. With the data, the following steps were performed: clustering through Tocher’s optimization method; calculation of genetic dissimilarity between parents; quantification of relative contribution; and verification of correlation degree existing among the characteristics evaluated through Pearson correlation using the program GENES. The characteristics essential oil yield and heartwood diameter presented the major contributions for genetic dissimilarity. Thus, it must be prioritized for wood production: trees with lower values in crown height and sapwood diameter; and trees with higher values in total height, commercial height, diameter at breast height and stump diameter. For essential oil production, it must be prioritized trees with lower values in leaf width, bark thickness and sapwood diameter; and trees with higher values in leaf nitrogen content, leaf potassium content, total green biomass and total dry biomass, essential oil yield, essential oil content and crown volume.

O objetivo deste estudo foi estimar os parâmetros genéticos quantitativos das progênies sob o efeito de geada, bem como determinar a interação genótipos x ambientes das progênies de Eucalyptus dunnii em dois locais de estudo. Os testes de progênies foram implantados em 2010, utilizando 20 progênies de polinização aberta de E. dunnii. Foram avaliados: altura de planta (ALT), diâmetro à altura do peito (DAP) e volume de madeira em metros cúbicos (VOL). Foram realizadas as análises estatísticas e descritivas, correlação fenotípica/genotípica por local e análise de variância conjunta, sendo estimados os parâmetros genéticos. Foram detectadas diferenças significativas (p≤0,05) entre progênies para as características silviculturais, o que sugere a possibilidade de melhoramento pela seleção. Pela análise conjunta, a interação progênies x ambientes (G x E) não apresentou diferença significativa, confirmando que as progênies superiores identificadas nos testes podem ser indicadas para ambos os locais. Os resultados de correlações genéticas e fenotípicas variaram de baixos a altos (0,23 a 1,0) para as características estudadas, sendo as correlações, em sua grande maioria, significativas (p≤0,05), em que o DAP foi altamente correlacionado com o VOL. A população, por apresentar alta variação genética e controle genético das características, permite a obtenção de ganhos com a seleção entre as progênies.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to estimate quantitative genetic parameters of progenies under frost situations and to determine the interaction of genotype x environments for Eucalyptus dunnii progenies in two different sites. The progeny trials were set up in 2010, using 20 open pollination progenies of E. dunnii. The following variables were evaluated: plant height (HGT), diameter at breast height (DBH), and wood volume (VOL) in cubic meters. Descriptive and statistical analysis were used as well as phenotypic/genotype correlation by location and joint variance analysis and the genetic parameters were estimated. Significant differences were detected (p≤ 0,05) among progenies for silvicultural characters, suggesting the possibilities for selection gain. By the joint analysis, the interaction of progenies x environments (P x E) did not show significant differences, confirming that the superior progenies identified in the tests can be used for both studied locations. The genetic and phenotypic correlations results ranged from low to high (0.23 to 1.0) values for the studied characters, and the great majority of correlations were significant (p≤ 0,05) in which the diameter at breast height was highly correlated with volume. Because of high genetic variability and genetic control of the characters, the population allows to obtain gains with selection between in the progenies.

Resumo:O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar características morfofisiológicas relacionadas à tolerância ao estresse hídrico em genótipos de uma coleção nuclear temática de arroz de terras altas, bem como identificar os materiais mais tolerantes. Foram avaliados 100 genótipos de arroz de terras altas em experimentos conduzidos com e sem estresse por deficiência hídrica. Os genótipos tenderam a aumentar o número de dias para o florescimento (FLO) e a diminuir a altura (ALT), na condição de estresse, mas manifestaram ampla variação de comportamento. A esterilidade das espiguetas (EST) foi a característica mais importante para a seleção, nas duas condições de cultivo, em razão de sua elevada correlação negativa com a produtividade. O número de perfilhos não diferiu entre os genótipos na condição sem estresse, mas houve diferença significativa sob estresse hídrico. Os genótipos Ligeiro e Canela de Ferro apresentaram baixos índices de susceptibilidade à seca (ISS), mas baixa produtividade em ambas as condições de cultivo; já os materiais Catetão, Jatobá e Arroz do Maranhão apresentaram elevada produtividade sob estresse e valores de ISS relativamente baixos. EST, FLO, ALT e ISS são características morfofisiológicas relacionadas à tolerância à seca, e os genótipos Catetão, Jatobá e Arroz do Maranhão podem constituir boas fontes de genes para tolerância à seca em programas de melhoramento.

Abstract:The objective of this work was to evaluate morphophysiological traits related to drought stress tolerance in genotypes from a thematic upland rice core collection, and to identify the most tolerant materials. One hundred upland rice genotypes were evaluated in experiments carried out with or without drought stress. The genotypes tended to increase the number of days to flowering (FLO) and to decrease plant height (ALT) under stress condition, but showed a great variation in behavior. Spikelet sterility (EST) was the most important trait for selection, in both growing conditions, because of its high negative correlation with yield. The number of tillers did not differ among genotypes, under no stress condition, but there was a significant difference under stress condition. The Ligeiro and Canela de Ferro genotypes showed low drought susceptibility indexes (SID), but low yields in both growing conditions; the Catetão, Jatobá, and Arroz do Maranhão materials had high productivity under stress and relatively low SID values. EST, FLO, ALT, and SID are morphophysiological traits related to drought tolerance, and the Catetão, Jatobá, and Arroz do Maranhão genotypes can be a good source of genes for drought tolerance in breeding programs.

O estresse por deficiência hídrica pode acarretar sérios danos à cultura do arroz de terras altas, principalmente na redução da produtividade. Por isto, a seleção de genótipos mais adaptados a esta condição faz-se necessária. Este trabalho avaliou as características agronômicas e temperatura foliar, em linhagens F7 de arroz de terras altas submetidas a duas condições de irrigação (com e sem estresse de deficiência hídrica), no sentido de possibilitar a seleção de materiais mais tolerantes a este estresse abiótico. Em 142 linhagens endogâmicas e seus dois genitores, Bico Ganga Curto e Chorinho, foram avaliados a temperatura foliar (ºC), dias até o florescimento, número de perfilhos e de panículas por metro linear, esterilidade das espiguetas (%), altura da planta (cm), massa de mil espiguetas (g) e produtividade (kg ha-1). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o látice triplo 12x12, com e sem estresse de deficiência hídrica. Foram selecionadas 15 linhagens, por meio do Índice de Susceptibilidade à Seca, as quais foram comparadas com seus genitores, pelo teste Tukey. Verificou-se que houve aumento no número de dias para o florescimento e para a esterilidade das espiguetas, em condições de deficiência hídrica. Nesta mesma condição, houve redução na altura da planta e número de perfilhos e de panículas por metro linear. Dentre as linhagens, destacou-se a 51, que apresentou boa produtividade, em ambas as condições de cultivo.

Water deficiency stress can seriously damage the upland rice crop, mainly reducing its yield. Therefore, the selection of genotypes better adapted to drought is relevant. This study aimed at evaluating agronomic traits and leaf temperature, in F7 upland rice lines under two irrigation conditions (with and without water deficit stress), in order to allow the selection of lines more tolerant to this abiotic stress. In 142 recombinant inbred lines and their two parents, Bico Ganga Curto and Chorinho, the leaf temperature (ºC), days to flowering, number of tillers and panicles per linear meter, spikelet sterility (%), plant height (cm), one thousand spikelets weight (g) and yield (kg ha-1) were evaluated. The experimental design used was a 12x12 triple lattice, with or without water stress. Fifteen lines were selected by using the Drought Susceptibility Index and compared with their parents by the Tukey test. An increase was observed in the number of days to flowering and spikelet sterility, under water deficit stress. Under the same condition, there was a reduction for plant height and number of tillers and panicles per linear meter. Among all lines, the 51 distinguished itself by presenting a high yield, concerning both environments.

O arroz é cultivado em larga escala de condições edafoclimáticas e se constitui em forte alternativa para o aumento da produção de alimentos no mundo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar caracteres relacionados à produtividade, em genótipos de arroz, em condições de irrigação e de estresse hídrico, no município de Gurupi, região Sul do Estado do Tocantins. Foram avaliados atributos agronômicos (número de perfilhos e panículas, número de grãos por panículas e produtividade), além do Índice de Susceptibilidade à Seca. A seleção de genótipos superiores e de caracteres que possam servir para diferenciação entre os mesmos nessa condição de estresse é fundamental para criação de materiais mais tolerantes. Dentre os genótipos mais produtivos pode-se destacar o 'Quebra Cacho' que, além de apresentar produtividades relativamente altas para ambas as condições de cultivo, apresentou também o Índice de Susceptibilidade à Seca baixo, firmando-se como um dos mais produtivos e adaptados a esta condição de cultivo. O número de perfilhos e de panículas por metro quadrado não apresentaram diferenças entre os genótipos em ambas as condições ambientais, havendo, em alguns casos, diminuição na condição de estresse hídrico. O número de grãos por panícula mostrou grande variação entre os ambientes, havendo diminuição na condição deste estresse.

The rice is large-scale cultivated in a wide range of edaphic and climatic conditions, compounding an alternative source for the increase in food production worldwide. The present study assessed the traits related to productivity, in rice genotypes under conditions of irrigation and water stress, in Gurupi municipality, Southern region from Tocantins state. We evaluated agronomic attributes (number of tillers and panicles, number of grains per panicle and productivity), besides the index of drought sensitivity. The selection of superior genotypes and traits that may serve for the differentiation among the genotypes in this stress condition is essential to create more tolerant materials. Among the most productive genotypes, we highlight the 'Quebra Cacho' that besides presenting relatively high productivities for both culture conditions, also presented a low index of drought sensitivity, ratifying itself as one of the most productive ones and adapted to this culture condition. The number of tillers by square meter did not present differences among the genotypes in both environmental conditions, but in some cases, there was a decrease under the condition of water stress. The number of grains per panicle evidenced great variation between the environments, with a decrease under the stress condition.
