Abstract: A concept of growing popularity in the Brazilian public and academic debate, Bolsonarism has been the subject of several studies and important interpretations of contemporary Brazil. This article aims to analyze the contours and presuppositions of the term based on the analysis of an element often attributed to it: its anti-systemic dimension. To this end, we critically analyze two of the most influential books on Bolsonarism, by Marcos Nobre and Rodrigo Nunes, which focus on its fundamental antagonism to the Brazilian political system (and to the “establishment” in general). Based on an analysis of the concept of Bolsonarism constructed by the authors, we argue that this conceptual construction around the system-antisystem axis sublimates one of its central elements, the authoritarian radicalization of the traditional right, by presupposing (a) a reiteration of the state-society dualism (typical of a long tradition of Brazilian political thought); (b) an overlapping of different right-wing actors (ultra-right, traditional right, new right, Bolsonaro); and (c) an unmediated import of concepts and contexts that are relatively exogenous to the Brazilian case . Resumo: Conceito de crescente popularidade no debate público e acadêmico brasileiro, o bolsonarismo tem sido objeto de vários trabalhos e tema de importantes interpretações do Brasil contemporâneo. Este artigo pretende analisar os contornos e os pressupostos do termo a partir da análise de um elemento a ele frequentemente atribuído: sua dimensão antissistêmica. Para tal, analisamos criticamente dois dos mais influentes livros sobre o bolsonarismo, de autoria de Marcos Nobre e Rodrigo Nunes, que privilegiam seu fundamental antagonismo ao sistema político brasileiro (e ao “ establishment ” em geral). RESUMO Há um hiato entre a centralidade que Marx e o marxismo ocupam na obra de Fernando Henrique Cardoso e o lugar que se costuma reservar a ele no cânone do marxismo brasileiro. O presente artigo apresenta evidências desse descompasso e explora a hipótese de que ele não se deve à posterior carreira do intelectual na política profissional, mas, sim, a uma conjunção de fatores, internos e principalmente externos à sua obra, que cumpre analisar em detalhe.

ABSTRACT Fernando Henrique Cardoso’s place in the canon of Brazilian Marxism is not compatible with the prominence with which Marx and Marxism appear throughout his work. This article presents evidence of such incompatibility and explores the hypothesis that it is not a mere consequence of Cardoso’s ulterior career in professional politics. His misplacement, we argue, is due to a conjunction of factors, internal and mostly external to his work.

RESUMO O presente artigo busca elaborar uma interpretação dos ensaios e passagens da obra de Roberto Schwarz em que o populismo e o golpe de 1964 são tratados. A partir da ênfase no tema da derrota política, argumenta-se que Schwarz desenvolve dois modos distintos, ainda que por vezes entrelaçados, de tratamento da questão: um afim à linguagem e aos pressupostos da crítica marxista do populismo, e outro que ultrapassaria tais pressupostos, tendo como eixo-chave a noção de democratização. Da análise de ambos os modos e de suas dissonâncias, ressalta-se uma compreensão ambivalente da derrota, em que a ambivalência é índice de uma maior aproximação com as contradições objetivas da vida política nacional.

ABSTRACT The article proposes an interpretation of the essays and passages of Roberto Schwarz’s work which deal with the subjects of populism and the 1964’ coup d’etat in Brazil. Through an emphasis on the meaning of political defeat, we argue that Schwarz develops two distinct and intertwined ways of treating the matter: one familiar with the Marxist critique of populism, and the other going beyond those assumptions and founding itself on an openness characterized by the notion of democratization. Analyzing those two ways and its dissonances, we reach an ambivalent understanding of political defeat – ambivalence that operates analytically as an index of a closer reading of the Brazilian political life’s objective contradictions.

ABSTRACT Several soil conservation practices are used to reduce water erosion and ensure sustainable agriculture. An effective crop management practice is intercropping, in which two or more crops with different architectures and vegetative cycles are grown simultaneously in the same area. We hypothesized that intercropping of corn and jack-bean increases soil cover and reduce soil erosion by water in comparison to monocropping. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different crop systems on soil cover and on soil erosion by water. Soil and water losses from a Typic Hapludox were measured under the following systems: corn cultivation (CO), jack-bean cultivation (JB), intercropping of corn and jack-bean (IC), and bare soil (BS), as a reference for maximum erosion rates. For each crop system, erosion plots with dimensions of 12 × 4 m were set up in the field on a 0.12 m m−1 slope gradient. The experiment was carried out under natural rainfall, over three crop seasons (November to March) from 2011 to 2014. The soil cover index of the systems was monitored during crop growth, and rainfall erosivity for the crop seasons was calculated according to the EI30 index to interpret soil and water losses. A set of linear mixed models was fitted to relate soil losses to rainfall erosivity, crop systems, and soil cover. The average rainfall erosivity in the study area was 6,132 MJ mm ha−1 h−1 per crop season. The results indicate that water losses are directly related to erosivity and are less influenced by soil cover and cultivation systems than the soil losses. A linear maximum value of the soil cover index was achieved 70 days after sowing. Intercropping exhibited greater soil cover than single crops. Total soil losses from the three seasons display the trend: BS > CO > JB > IC. The best fitted model of the linear mixed models indicates that soil loss responses are strongly correlated with rainfall erosivity and soil cover, which nullified the influence of the crop systems in the model.

RESUMO A baixa qualidade de mudas pode advir de problemas na irrigação e/ou nutrição das mudas em sua fase de formação em viveiros. Em relação à irrigação, problemas podem surgir referentes à má distribuição da água ou mesmo seu manejo, levando ao deficit ou ao excesso de irrigação, enquanto o excesso pode lixiviar nutrientes, o deficit pode prejudicar o desenvolvimento da planta. Assim, o presente trabalho teve como objetivos avaliar a eficiência de irrigação de um sistema de irrigação por microaspersão já instalado em um viveiro de mudas de espécies florestais e também avaliar a eficiência de um sistema de subirrigação de mudas florestais nativas cultivadas em tubetes. A avaliação da eficiência da microaspersão foi realizada em um viveiro de mudas de espécies nativas florestais na cidade de Itutinga - MG, o delineamento utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado (DIC) em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, estando o equipamento de irrigação na parcela (três níveis: MA-20, Rondo e Inverted Rotor Spray) e três espécies florestais na subparcela. Na avaliação de eficiência em tubetes de 300 cm³, as categorias da subparcela foram: araucária (Araucaria angustifolia (Bert.) O. Ktze.), jerivá (Syagrus romanzoffiana (Cham.) Glassman) e cutieira (Joannesia princeps Vell.). Em tubetes de 110 cm³ os três níveis da subparcela foram as espécies: mutamba (Guazuma ulmifolia Lam.), angico-vermelho (Anadenanthera macrocarpa Benth.) e peroba-rosa (Aspidosperma polyneuron Muell.). A avaliação da eficiência da subirrigação foi realizada em uma estufa localizada na Universidade Federal de Lavras, em dois tanques de subirrigação em três repetições. As maiores eficiências de aplicação foram obtidas para o emissor modelo MA-20. Não houve diferenças significativas entre a eficiência de aplicação dos microaspersores em relação às espécies estudadas, em ambos os tubetes. A eficiência de irrigação no tanque de tubetes de 300 cm³ foi 90,42%, enquanto para tubetes de 110 cm³ foi 92,17%. Os tanques de subirrigação mostraram-se como alternativa interessante para irrigação de mudas das espécies florestais testadas, apresentando alta eficiência para os dois tamanhos de tubetes avaliados.

ABSTRACT Seedlings low quality can result due to problems in irrigation and/or nutrition of seedlings in their nursery phase. Regarding irrigation, problems can arise related to low uniformity of water application or its management, leading to lack or excess of water. While the excess can leach nutrients, the deficit can affect plant growth. Thus, this work had as objective to evaluate irrigation efficiency of a microsprinkler irrigation system at a forest native species nursery and also at sub-irrigation of forest native species being raised in recipient tubes The microsplinkler irrigation efficiency evaluation was performed in a native forest nursery at Itutinga - MG city, held in completely randomized design in split plots scheme, with the irrigation equipment on the plot (three levels: MA-20, Rondo and Inverted Rotor Spray) and three forest species on subplot. For efficiency evaluation in large tubes, the categories of subplot were: Araucaria angustifolia (Bert.) O. Ktze., Syagrus romanzoffiana (Cham.) Glassman and Joannesia princeps Vell. In small tubes, the three levels of subplots were the species: Guazuma ulmifolia Lam., Anadenanthera macrocarpa Benth. and Aspidosperma polyneuron Muell. The sub-irrigation efficiency evaluation was conducted in a greenhouse located at UFLA, in two sub-irrigation tanks with three replications, through calculation of uniformity coefficients for each sub-irrigated species, done in three replications. The largest application efficiency was obtained for the MA-20 emitter. There were no significant differences between the application efficiency of the emitters relative to the cultivated species, in both tube sizes. The efficiency in 300 cm³ tubes irrigation tank was 90.42%, while for 110 cm³ tubes it was 92.17%. Sub-irrigation tanks proved to be an interesting alternative for irrigation of the tested forest species seedlings, with high efficiency for both tubes sizes.

A qualidade das mudas florestais produzidas em viveiros está relacionada a diversos fatores, entre eles a irrigação e o substrato utilizado. Ambos possuem como finalidade a produção de mudas de qualidade em um curto período de tempo, mas a irrigação em excesso pode influenciar negativamente no conteúdo de nutrientes do substrato. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a dinâmica das características químicas de um substrato florestal submetido a sucessivas irrigações em tanques de subirrigação em dois tamanhos de tubetes. Para tal, foram colocados tubetes de 110 e 300 cm³ contendo substrato florestal novo, sem a presença de mudas, em dois tanques de subirrigação com recirculação, um para cada tamanho de tubete, construídos na Universidade Federal de Lavras. Foi montado um Delineamento Inteiramente Casualizado com duas repetições, sendo os níveis do tratamento 0, 6, 12, 18, 24 e 30 irrigações, cinco por dia. As características químicas avaliadas do substrato foram: pH em água, fósforo, potássio, ferro, zinco, manganês, cobre, cálcio, magnésio, alumínio, boro, enxofre, CTC efetiva, matéria orgânica e condutividade elétrica. Adicionalmente, foram coletadas, antes das irrigações contabilizadas como tratamento, amostras de água para verificação de possíveis alterações na qualidade da água de irrigação reciclada após as sucessivas irrigações. As subirrigações proporcionaram alterações na concentração apenas de potássio no substrato em ambos os tubetes, sendo que a maioria das características químicas avaliadas nos substratos permaneceu inalterada em função das subirrigações.

The quality of seedlings produced at forest nurseries is related to several factors, including irrigation and the used substrate. Both have as their purposes the production of quality seedlings in a short time period, but over-irrigation can negatively affect the substrate nutrient content. This work aimed to evaluate the chemical characteristics dynamics of a forest substrate subjected to successive irrigation at sub-irrigation tanks in two plastic tubes sizes. To this end, plastic tubes of 110 and 300 cm³ were placed, containing forest substrate without the presence of new seedlings at two sub-irrigation tanks with recirculation, one for each tube size, built at Universidade Federal de Lavras. It was set up completely randomized design with two replications, being the treatment levels 0,6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 irrigations, five per day. The substrate chemical characteristics were evaluated: pH, phosphorus, potassium, iron, zinc, manganese, copper, calcium, magnesium, aluminum, boron, sulfur, effective CEC, organic matter and electrical conductivity. Additionally, before the irrigations counted as treatment, water samples were taken to check for possible changes in the quality of irrigation recycled water after successive irrigations. The sub-irrigations provided only changes in the potassium concentration in the substrate in both tubes, and most of the chemical characteristics assessed on the substrate were unchanged as a sub-irrigation function.

A determinação e o estudo de precipitação provável e vazão máxima diária anual em uma bacia hidrográfica é uma ferramenta que ajuda a dimensionar seguramente obras hidráulicas. Neste sentido, os objetivos deste estudo foram a comparação e adequação estatística de modelos de distribuição de probabilidades aplicados ao estudo da precipitação provável e à vazão do Rio Aiuruoca, determinando-se qual modelo de probabilidade é mais adequado para a caracterização dos dados pluviométricos e fluviométricos da bacia de Aiuruoca, Minas Gerais. O estudo revela que a distribuição de probabilidade Log-Normal dois parâmetros foi a que melhor se ajustou às séries históricas de precipitação mensal. Por exemplo, no mês de janeiro é esperada a lâmina acumulada de chuvas de 201 mm, com 75% de probabilidade de ocorrência. Este é o mês com maior volume pluviométrico da região. Por outro lado, a série de vazões do Rio Aiuruoca foi melhor ajustada pela distribuição Log-Normal de três parâmetros.

Research on rainfall and annual daily maximum discharge rates is essential to support decisions during the design of hydraulic structures. This study tested the adequacy of probability functions to predict the probable rainfall and discharge rates of the Aiuruoca River Basin in Minas Gerais State in Brazil. This basin is very important as starting point of the Rio Grande Basin that eventually discharges into the Parana River in the southern region of Brazil at the border with Argentina. It was found that the log-normal two parameters probability function provided the best fit to historical monthly rainfall series. For example, in the month of January, there is a 75% probability that 201 mm of rainfall will occur. This is the month with the highest volume of rainfall in the region. On another hand, for flow rate, the best fit was provided by the log-normal distribution with three parameters.

O manejo adequado do solo pode criar condições favoráveis para reduzir a erosão hídrica e escoamento superficial, e, consequentemente, aumentar a recarga de água no solo. Entre os sistemas de manejo, o consórcio de culturas é um sistema de manejo muita utilizado, principalmente por médios e pequenos agricultores. Trata-se de um sistema onde duas ou mais culturas com diferentes ciclos e arquiteturas vegetativas são exploradas concomitantemente, no mesmo local. Portanto, objetivou-se neste trabalho, avaliar os efeitos do consórcio entre a cultura do milho e o feijão-de-porco nas perdas de solo por erosão hídrica, a determinação do fator C da Equação Universal de Perda de Solo (EUPS) e do índice de cobertura para os sistemas de cultivos estudados. Pode-se concluir que as perdas de solo totais por erosão hídrica sob chuva natural, no município de Lavras, MG, foram de 4,20, 1,86, 1,38 e 1,14 Mg ha-1, respectivamente, para o solo descoberto, milho, feijão-de-porco e o consórcio entre as duas espécies, durante o período avaliado. Os valores de fator C da EUPS calculados para os diferentes sistemas de cultivos foram 0,039, 0,054 e 0,077 Mg ha Mg-1 ha-1 para o milho, feijão-de-porco e o consórcio entre as duas espécies, respectivamente. O plantio do milho solteiro apresentou menor índice de cobertura vegetal, seguido do cultivo de feijão-de-porco solteiro e do consórcio entre as duas espécies vegetais. O consórcio entre as espécies apresentou maior potencial no controle de processos erosivos, uma vez que seu cultivo resulta em menores perdas de solo, quando se comparado ao cultivo solteiro das espécies estudadas, este aspecto é de grande importância para os pequenos e médios agricultores da região de estudo.

Adequate soil management can create favorable conditions to reduce erosion and water runoff, consequently increase water soil recharge. Among management systems intercropping is highly used, especially for medium and small farmers. It is a system where two or more crops with different architectures and vegetative cycles are explored simultaneously at the same location. This research investigated the effects of maize intercropped with jack bean on soil losses due to water erosion, estimate C factor of Universal Soil Losses Equation (USLE) and how it can be affected by soil coverage. The results obtained also contribute to database generation, important to model and estimate soil erosion. Total soil loss by erosion caused by natural rain, at Lavras, Minas Gerais, Brazil, were: 4.20, 1.86, 1.38 and 1.14 Mg ha-1, respectively, for bare soil, maize, jack bean and the intercropping of both species, during evaluated period. Values of C factor of USLE were: 0.039, 0.054 and 0.077 Mg ha Mg-1 ha-1 for maize, jack bean and intercropping between both crops, respectively. Maize presented lower vegetation cover index, followed by jack beans and consortium of the studied species. Intercropping between species showed greater potential on soil erosion control, since its cultivation resulted in lower soil losses than single crops cultivation, and this aspect is really important for small and medium farmers in the studied region.

Effects of vinasse, P sorption and the interaction vinasse-phosphorus on zeta potential and point of zero charge (PZC) as well as the effects of vinasse on P sorption on clay-fraction samples from two soils were evaluated. The vinasse and P sorption influenced the surface charge of clay fraction of both soils. Sorption of P increased negative charges from soil particles reducing PZC. These effects were more pronounced when clay fraction was previously treated with vinasse. Vinasse treatment reduced P sorption, probably due to coating of P-adsorption sites and by enhancing the negative charges.
