ABSTRACT: Anticarsia gemmatalis (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) is distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of America, and is an important pest of Fabaceae, such as: soybean, peanut, common bean, cowpea, pea, chickpea and kudzu. In soybean, the velvet bean caterpillar is important due to the plant defoliation in their larval stage. This study evaluated soybean cultivars as source of resistance to A. gemmatalis by antixenosis (attractiveness and non-preference for feeding) and antibiosis (biological parameters of the insect). The parameters evaluated were: antixenosis: attractiveness and non-preference, dry mass consumed and attractiveness index and antibiosis: duration of larval and pupal stages, adult longevity, total cycle, larval and pupal weights and larval, pupal and total viability. Considering antixenosis and antibiosis the least suitable cultivars for A. gemmatalis were found to be BRS 8383 IPRO, BRS 1074 IPRO, BRS 1061 IPRO, BRS 7180 IPRO, BRS 9383 IPRO, BRS 8980 IPRO and BRS 1003 IPRO due to high mortality in the larval phase. The cultivars BRS 523 and BRS 543 RR “block technology” suggest displays antixenosis and or antibiosis to A. gemmatalis. These cultivars can be used by soybean producers in combination with other control tactics in soybean IPM. Na soja, a lagarta-da-soja é importante devido à desfolha da planta em sua fase larval. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar cultivares de soja como fonte de resistência a A. gemmatalis por antixenose (atratividade e não-preferência para alimentação) e antibiose (parâmetros biológicos do inseto). Os parâmetros avaliados foram: antixenose: atratividade e não-preferência, massa seca consumida e índice de atratividade e antibiose: duração dos estágios larval e pupal, longevidade de adultos, ciclo total, peso larval e pupal e viabilidade larval, pupal e total. Na antixenose e antibiose os cultivares menos favoráveis a A. gemmatalis foram: BRS 8383 IPRO, BRS 1074 IPRO, BRS 1061 IPRO, BRS 7180 IPRO, BRS 9383 IPRO, BRS 8980 IPRO e BRS 1003 IPRO devido à alta mortalidade larval. ABSTRACT. Chickpea is a legume with nutrient-rich grains important for human feeding. Tobacco budworm, Chloridea virescens (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is one of the most major pests of chickpea (Cicer arietinum) in Brazil. This pest damages leaves, flowers, pods, and grains. Plant resistance to insects is an important tactic of pest management, which usually facilitates and reduce costs of implementing an Integrated Pest Management for farmers. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the resistance in chickpea cultivars to C. virescens. Six chickpea cultivars were evaluated for antixenosis, initial antibiotic parameters, and behavior under field conditions. The cultivars BRS Kalifa and BRS Cícero were less attractive in a free-choice test, while Jamu 96 and BRS Kalifa were less attractive in a no-choice test. BRS Kalifa and BRS Toro leaves had a higher trichome density. Jamu 96 and BRS Toro had higher contents of oxalic and malic acids. C. virescens larvae in BRS Cícero, BRS Toro, and BRS Kalifa showed the lowest weights. Jamu 96 pods were the least damaged, and BRS Aleppo and Jamu 96 had the highest yields. The chickpea cultivars Jamu 96 and BRS Aleppo, which had resistance levels and mechanisms, can be used in integrated pest management programs to control C. virescens.

Abstract The chickpea is an oilseed of high commercial importance and its cultivation was adapted to the conditions of the Brazilian Cerrado. Therefore, studies involving these adapted varieties are necessary, such as BRS Cristalino, in order to enable greater insertion and expansion in this biome. This study evaluated the physicochemical composition and technological characteristics of the raw and naturally dried grains, after being ground and refined. The evaluations carried out were associated with moisture, fixed mineral residue, lipids, protein, total fibers, carbohydrates and energy value. The ability to absorb water, oil and milk and also gelling properties were analyzed as possibly interesting properties for industrialization processes. This composition was similar to the flour of other oilseeds with protein content close to 16%, mineral residue of 2%, carbohydrates of 61% and total fibers of 10%. The technological indexes showed relevant affinity for water and milk and also good gelation capacity. According to these results, preparations with chickpea flour as an ingredient in food products are motivated. Resumo O grão-de-bico é uma oleaginosa de elevada importância comercial e seu cultivo tem sido adaptado para as condições do Cerrado brasileiro. Diante disso, é necessário realizar pesquisas que envolvam essas espécies adaptadas, como o BRS Cristalino, para possibilitar uma maior inserção e expansão neste bioma. Este estudo avaliou características de composição físico-química e tecnológicas do grão cru e seco naturalmente, moído e refinado (farinha). As avalições realizadas foram de umidade, resíduo mineral fixo, lipídeos, proteína, fibras totais, carboidratos e valor energético. A capacidade de absorver água, óleo e leite, e as propriedades gelificantes foram analisadas como propriedades possivelmente interessantes para processos de industrialização. A farinha de grão-de-bico apresentou composição semelhante à da farinha de outras oleaginosas, com teor proteico próximo a 16%, teor de carboidrato de 61% e fibra total de 10%. ABSTRACT The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is an important rice pest which consumes leaf area during all phases of plant development. The objective of this study was to identify rice genotypes that provide antixenosis and antibiosis to fall armyworm. Antixenosis was investigated by measuring non-preference in free-choice and no-choice tests while antibiosis was determined by measuring biological parameters and nutritional indices of S. frugiperda in twelve rice genotypes. The genotype Miúdo Branco showed antixenosis to S. frugiperda, whereas the genotypes IR 64 and Bacaba Branco showed antibiosis to S. frugiperda by affecting insect development and prolonging insect life cycle. Insects that fed on Bacaba Branco genotype demonstrated the lowest nutritional indices. Since Miúdo Branco, IR 64 and Bacaba Branco showed moderate resistance, rice producers could use these genotypes as part of a control strategy for S. frugiperda.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de combinações de piretroides com neonicotinoides no controle de percevejos em diferentes estádios de desenvolvimento da cultura da soja. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos randomizados, em esquema fatorial 4×6 (4 tratamentos e 6 estádios) com 4 repetições. Os produtos utilizados foram: 1 – testemunha (sem aplicação), 2 – tiametoxam + λ-cialotrina, 3 – acetamiprida + α-cipermetrina, e 4 – dinotefuran + α-cipermetrina, e as aplicações foram realizadas a partir dos estádios fenológicos V6/V7,R2, R4, R5.1, R5.5 e R6. Avaliaram-se a infestação, número de grãos danificados, número de vagens, número de vagens por planta e produtividade (kg/ha). A infestação de percevejo foi menor quando se iniciou a aplicação precocemente nos estádios vegetativos (V6-V8).O número de vagens e produtividade foi superior no tratamento dinotefuran + α-cipermetrina nos estádios V6/V8 até R4. Os ingredientes ativos dinotefuran + α-cipermetrina apresentaram resultados positivos na redução da população de percevejo e proporcionaram incremento no rendimento de grão, podendo ser utilizado como opção em programa de manejo integrado de pragas (MIP) na cultura da soja.

ABSTRACT This study evaluates the effects of combinations of pyrethroids and neonicotinoids on the control of stink bugs at different stages of soybean crop development. The experiment was set up in a factorial randomized block design (4×6: 4 treatments and 6 stages) with 4 repetitions. The following treatments were tested during the V6/V7, R2, R4, R5.1, R5.5 and R 6 phenological stages: 1 – control (no application), 2 – thiamethoxam + λ-cyhalothrin, 3 – acetamiprid + α-cypermethrin, and 4 – dinotefuran + α-cypermethrin. Infestation, number of damaged seeds, number of pods, number of pods per plant, and yield (kg/ha) were evaluated. Stink bug infestations were smaller when applications commenced during the vegetative stages (V6-V8). Pod numbers and yields were highest in the dinotefuran + α-cypermethrin treatment with applications from V6/V8 to R4. The active ingredients dinotefuran + α-cypermethrin reduced stink bug populations and increased yields and could therefore be considered in integrated pest management (IPM) programs for soybean crops.

RESUMO: Brassica oleracea var. acephala (couve comum) é uma das mais importantes olerícolas cultivadas no Brasil para alimentação humana. A lagarta Ascia monuste orseis (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) destaca-se entre as pragas mais significativas no cultivo de Brassicaceae por causar severa desfolha na planta. O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar, em 26 genótipos de couve comum, fontes de resistência (antixenose) a A. monuste orseis. No teste de livre escolha, adotou-se o esquema casualizado de blocos; e no teste sem chance de escolha o esquema foi inteiramente casualizado. Manteiga de Jundiaí, crespa de Capão Bonito, couve de Arthur Nogueira 1, manteiga I-1811, manteiga de Ribeirão Pires I-1811, orelha-de-elefante e Pires 1 de Campinas apresentaram antixenose (não preferência para oviposição). Pires 1 de Campinas, manteiga I-1811, manteiga de São José, verde-escura e manteiga de Monte Alegre apresentaram antixenose (não preferência para alimentação). Esses genótipos de couve comum podem ser cultivados diretamente por agricultores ou ser usados por melhoristas em programas de melhoramento genético para resistência a A. monuste orseis.

ABSTRACT: Collard greens Brassica oleracea var. acephala is one of the most important horticultural grown in Brazil for human feeding. The caterpillar Ascia monuste orseis (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) stands out among the important pest in Brassicaceae causing severe plant defoliation. The objective of this study was to identify resistant genotypes (antixenosis) in 26 collard greens genotypes to A. monuste orseis. In free-choice test, randomized blocks were used; and in the non-choice test we adopted a completely randomized design. RESUMO: O deficiente desenvolvimento de sementes férteis de espécies florestais nativas no Brasil limita a propagação dessas plantas em diversas condições. Entre os fatores bióticos limitantes da qualidade e quantidade das sementes florestais, destacam-se os insetos broqueadores, antes e depois da sua dispersão. Este estudo relata pela primeira vez um hospedeiro do besouro buprestídeo Lius conicus (Gory & Laporte, 1840). O desenvolvimento larval de L. conicus ocorre em cápsulas com sementes de Vochysia haenkeana Mart. (Vochysiaceae), uma típica árvore do bioma cerrado brasileiro. Em duas regiões do cerrado, no Estado de Goiás, no Brasil, frutos quase maduros de V. haenkeana foram coletados diretamente das plantas. Após secagem natural e beneficiamento de frutos e sementes em laboratório, os danos causados pelas larvas de L. conicus foram quantificados e qualificados. Frutos maiores foram os preferidas como hospedeiros desse inseto. Os frutos produzidos pela planta, voltados para ponto o cardeal leste, foram os mais infestados por L. conicus. Lotes de sementes provenientes de frutos maiores apresentaram infestação por L. conicus de até 37,5%. Observou-se que houve apenas uma larva desse inseto por fruto, que danificou todas as sementes da cápsula (três ou quatro) e consumiu geralmente cerca de 26% da massa seca da semente.

ABSTRACT: The deficient development of fertile seeds of native forest plant species in Brazil limits the reproduction of these plants in various conditions. Among the limiting biotic factors in quality and quantity of the forest seeds, borer insects are quite prominent, before and after their dispersion. This study reports for the first time a host of the buprestid beetle Lius conicus (Gory & Laporte, 1840). The larval development of L. conicus takes place in the seed capsules of Vochysia haenkeana Mart. (Vochysiaceae), a typical tree species in the Brazilian cerrado biome. In two regions of the cerrado in Goiás State, Brazil, almost ripe fruits of V. haenkeana were collected directly from the plants. After natural drying, and fruit and seed processing in laboratory, damage caused by the L. conicus larvae was quantified and qualified. Bigger fruits were preferred as hosts. Fruits developing on the eastern side of the plant were most frequently occupied by L. conicus. Seed lots of bigger fruits showed damage up to 37.5% from the infestation by L. conicus larvae. There was only one larva per fruit, which damaged all the seeds of the capsule (three or four) and generally consumed around 26% of the seed dry mass.

RESUMO: Este trabalho objetivou registrar um comportamento atípico de forrageamento em uma colônia de Trachymyrmex fuscus, localizada em área de cerrado, em Ipameri, Goiás, Brasil. Nessa colônia, a atividade de forrageamento era executada somente por castas sexuadas. A comparação do ritmo diário de forrageamento dessa colônia com o de outra, da mesma espécie, em que tal atividade era executada por castas operárias, mostrou ritmos das jornadas de trabalho relativamente similares. Essas colônias foram escavadas para sua própria caracterização. Além da atividade forrageadora, executada somente por fêmeas, outras observações relevantes mereceram destaque na referida colônia: inexpressivo número de operárias (5), presença de larvas e pupas de operárias (45 e 43, respectivamente) e crescimento aparentemente normal de fungo simbionte. Nossa hipótese é a de que as fêmeas sexuadas faziam a manutenção de toda a colônia. Essa pode ser uma estratégia para a sobrevivência da colônia em um momento em que a casta operária encontra-se reduzida.

ABSTRACT: The main of this research was to report an atypical foraging behavior in a colony of Trachymyrmex fuscus, situated in "Cerrado" (savanna ecoregion of Goiás, Brazil). The colony foraging activity was performed only by sexual caste. Comparison of the foraging rhythm of this colony with another of the same specie where foraging was performed only by worker caste, showed that working time hours were very similar. After observations on the foraging behavior, both colonies were excavated in order to characterize them (nest size, population composition and estimating of the symbiotic fungus volume). Besides the foraging activity performed only by sexual females, other important observations were highlighted in that colony: low number of workers, presence of worker larvae and pupae (45 and 43 respectively) and apparently normal growth of the symbiotic fungus. Our hypothesis is that sexual females were in charge of the entire colony maintenance. This could be a strategy of colony survival when the worker caste is reduced.

Spodoptera eridania (Cramer) é uma praga em expansão nas culturas, que vem causando prejuízos pela desfolha e pela lesão nas estruturas reprodutivas, o que leva à necessidade de estudos de desenvolvimento em diferentes tipos de hospedeiros. O objetivo do trabalho foi estudar o desenvolvimento de S. eridaniaem diferentes espécies de plantas hospedeiras. As lagartas foram criadas em laboratório em plantas de algodoeiro do cultivar Delta Opal. As lagartas recém-eclodidas foram individualizadas em placas de Petri e alimentadas com as plantas: mucuna-preta (Stizolobium aterrimum), feijão-guandu (Cajanus cajan), feijão-de-porco (Canavalia ensiformes), nabo-forrageiro (Raphanus sativus), Crotalaria juncea e milheto (Pennisetum americanum). Os parâmetros avaliados foram: atratividade e consumo em teste com chance de escolha; viabilidade; período e peso larval e pupal; razão sexual; longevidade de adultos; e duração total do ciclo de desenvolvimento. As plantas de feijão-de-porco e nabo-forrageiro apresentaram maior atratividade e foram as mais consumidas pelas lagartas de S. eridania. O período larval foi menor nas lagartas alimentadas com mucuna-preta do que com feijão-guandu, feijão-de-porco, nabo-forrageiro e C. juncea. Lagartas alimentadas com folhas de nabo-forrageiro e C. juncea tiveram os maiores peso de pupa. Os melhores desenvolvimentos das lagartas foram obtidos nos hospedeiros feijão-guandu, nabo-forrageiro e C. juncea. O hospedeiro milheto influenciou negativamente os parâmetros biológicos das lagartas, provando não ser um hospedeiro viável, visto que a mortalidade larval foi de 100%.

Spodoptera eridania (Cramer) is a growing pest in crops that has been causing damage due to defoliation and lesion in reproductive structures, which requires studies of development in different types of hosts. The objective of this study was to evaluate the development of S. eridania in different species of host plants. The larvae were reared in laboratory in cotton plants of the Delta Opal cultivar. The caterpillars of newly hatched larvae were placed in Petri dishes and fed on these plants: black velvet bean (Stizolobium aterrimum), guandu bean (Cajanus cajan), jack bean (Canavalia ensiformes), forage radish (Raphanus sativus), sunnhep (Crotalaria juncea) and millet (Pennisetum americanum). The following parameters were evaluated: attractiveness and consumption in a multiple choice test; viability; larval and pupal period and weight; sex ratio; adult longevity; and total duration of the development cycle. The jack bean and forage radish plants showed greater attractiveness and were the most consumed ones by S. eridaniacaterpillars. The larval period was shorter among the larvae fed on black velvet beans in comparison to guandu beans, jack beans, forage radish and C. juncea. Larvae fed on forage radish and C. juncea leaves had the heaviest pupal weight. The best progress of caterpillars was obtained in the following hosts: guandu bean, forage radish and C. juncea. The millet had a negative influence on the biological parameters of caterpillars, thus not proving to be a viable host, since larval mortality was of 100%.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo verificar a ocorrência das formas de resistência, tais como: a não preferência para oviposição, a não preferência para alimentação e a antibiose, em variedades de algodoeiro (Gossypium hirsutum L.), à Alabama argillacea (Hubner, 1818), em experimentos de laboratório (27 ± 2 ºC, 70 ± 10% de U.R. e fotofase de 14 horas). Para avaliar a não preferência para oviposição e para a alimentação em teste com chance de escolha, adotou-se o delineamento em blocos casualizados e, no teste sem chance, o inteiramente casualizado. Para avaliar a antibiose, foram fornecidas às larvas, diariamente, folhas das variedades DeltaOpal, NuOpal, FMT 701, FMX 910 e 20 FMX 996. Durante este processo, verificou-se a duração de cada fase do inseto, avaliando-se a massa de larvas aos dez dias de idade, massa de pupas com 24 horas, período larval, pré-pupal e pupal, longevidade de adultos, viabilidade total e fecundidade. As variedades NuOpal e FMT 701 apresentam resistência do tipo não preferência para alimentação. As variedades NuOpal, FMT 701 e FMX 910 apresentam resistência do tipo antibiose em relação a A. argillacea.

This work aimed to test the occurrence of types of resistance in cotton varieties (Gossypium hirsutum L.) including non-preference to oviposition and feeding and antibiosis to Alabama argillacea (Hubner, 1818), in laboratory experiments (27±2 ºC, 70±10% de R.H. and photophase of 14 hours). The experiment to evaluate the non-preference for oviposition and feeding in free choice tests used a randomized block design, while the tests without free choice used a completely randomized design. To evaluate antibiosis, leaves of the varieties DeltaOpal, NuOpal, FMT 701, FMX 910 e FMX 996 were fed to the larvae daily. The duration of each insect phase, the larvae mass in the 10th day, the pupa mass with 24 hours, the larva and pupa stage, the adult longevity, total viability and fecundity were recorded. The varieties NuOpal and FMT 701 showed resistance by non-preference for feeding. The varieties NuOpal, FMT 701 and FMX 910 showed resistance by antibiosis to A. argillacea.

Objetivou-se, com este trabalho, avaliar a influência de alguns genótipos de couve (Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala DC.) no desenvolvimento de Plutella xylostella (L., 1758) (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae). Os genótipos avaliados foram: Manteiga de Ribeirão Pires I-2620, Roxa I-919, Manteiga de São José, Manteiga de Monte Alegre, Pires 2 de Campinas, Couve Comum, Couve de Arthur Nogueira 2, Couve de Arthur Nogueira 1. Lagartas recém-eclodidas foram mantida em discos foliares de 8 cm de diâmetro para cada genótipo. Foram analisados os seguintes parâmetros: duração e viabilidade das fases larval e pupal, longevidade e fecundidade de adultos, utilizando análises paramétricas e de agrupamentos para interpretação dos dados. Observou-se um prolongamento em dias no ciclo de P. xylostella, aumento no peso de pupa e maiores valores de viabilidade e fecundidade, durante a segunda geração. O genótipo Couve de Arthur Nogueira 2 foi menos favorável ao desenvolvimento de P. xylostella nas duas gerações, e Couve Comum demonstrou maior influência negativa ao inseto na segunda geração. Manteiga de Ribeirão Pires I-2620 foi o mais suscetível nas duas gerações, agrupando com este na segunda geração Pires 2 de Campinas e Manteiga de São José.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of cabbage genotypes (Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala DC.) on growth of Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae). The genotypes evaluated were: Manteiga of Ribeirão Pires I-2620, Roxa I919, Manteiga of São José, Manteiga of Monte Alegre, Pires 2 of Campinas, Couve Comum, Couve of Arthur Nogueira 2, Couve of Arthur Nogueira 1. Neonate larvae were reared in 8 cm leaf discs of each genotype. The parameters evaluated were: period and viability of the larval and pupal stages, sex ratio, longevity and fecundity of adults. Parametric and Cluster analyses were used for data analysis. Overall, it was observed a developmental delay in the P. xylostella cicle, larger pupal, higher viability and fecundity during the second generation. Couve of Arthur Nogueira 2 was less favorable to the development of P. xylostella in the two generations, and Couve Comum was not an appropriate host for the insect in the second generation. Manteiga of Ribeirão Pires I-2620 was the most susceptible in both generations belonging to the same cluster with Pires 2 of Campinas and Manteiga of São José in the second generation.

Este trabalho teve por objetivo identificar cultivares de amendoim com resistência a Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), determinando os graus de resistência por meio da análise univariada e multivariada. Utilizaram-se cultivares de amendoim de hábitos de crescimento ereto (IAC 5, IAC 8112, IAC 22 e IAC Tatu ST) e rasteiro (IAC 503, IAC 505, IAC 147, IAC 125, IAC Caiapó e IAC Runner 886), semeadas em campo. Lagartas de primeiro ínstar foram individualizadas em placas de Petri forradas com papel filtro umedecido e mantidas sob condições controladas de temperatura (25 ± 2 °C), umidade (60 ± 10%) e fotofase (12 horas). Utilizaram-se cinco repetições de dez lagartas (recém-eclodidas), em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Diariamente, foram fornecidos folíolos novos, lavados com solução de hipoclorito de sódio a 1%. Avaliaram-se a duração (dias), a massa (mg) e a viabilidade (%) dos períodos larval e pupal, a razão sexual, longevidade e fecundidade. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância (teste F) e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Tukey (p<0,05), além da análise de agrupamento e de componentes principais. As cultivares de hábito de crescimento ereto, IAC 22, e rasteiro, IAC Runner 886, foram menos adequadas ao desenvolvimento do inseto, interferindo nas fases larval e pupal de S. frugiperda, demonstrando resistência moderada do tipo antibiose.

This study aimed to identify peanut cultivars resistant to Spodoptera frugiperda by determining the degree of resistance through univariate and multivariate analyses. The genetic material under evaluation comprised cultivars of the upright growth habit (IAC 5, IAC 8112, IAC 22 and IAC Tatu ST) and runner growth habit (IAC 503, IAC 505, IAC 147, IAC 125, IAC Caiapó and IAC Runner 886), grown under field conditions. Individual first instar larvae were placed in Petri dishes, on humidified filter paper, and maintained under controlled conditions of temperature (25±2 °C), humidity (60±10%) and photophase (12 hours). Ten newly hatched caterpillars were arranged in a completely randomized design with five replications. New leaves previously washed with 1% sodium hypochlorite were provided daily. The duration (days), weight (mg) and viability (%) of larval and pupal periods, the sex ratio, adult longevity and adult female fecundity were evaluated. All data recorded were submitted to analysis of variance by F test, and treatments were compared by the Tukey test (p<0.05). Additionally, clustering and principal components analyses were performed. The cultivar IAC 22, of upright growth habit, and Runner IAC 886, of runner growth habit, were the least favorable substrates for the insect development, indicating resistance to S. frugiperda.

Avaliou-se o comportamento de genótipos de feijoeiro sob a infestação de Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) biótipo B e Caliothrips phaseoli (Hood) em condições de campo, nas épocas de cultivo "de inverno", "das águas" e "da seca". Adotou-se o delineamento de blocos casualizados em esquema de parcelas sub-subdividida (19x3x6), com 19 genótipos (IAC Tybatã, IAC Una, FT Nobre, Pérola, Gen 96A98-15-3-32-1, Gen 96A45-3-51-52-1, IAC Alvorada, IAC Diplomata, Gen 96A3-P1-1-1, LP 98-122, LP 02-130, LP 01-38, LP 9979, BRS-Pontal, BRS-Requinte, BRS-Triunfo, BRS-Grafite, CV-48 e Z-28), três épocas de cultivos (inverno, águas e seca) e seis períodos de avaliação. As avaliações foram realizadas semanalmente, contando-se o número de ovos e ninfas de B. tabaci e ninfas de C. phaseoli em dez folíolos por parcela. Os genótipos IAC Una, Pérola, Gen 96A45-3-51-52-1, Gen 96A98-15-32-1, FT Nobre, IAC Tybatã, IAC Alvorada, LP 02-130, LP 01-38, LP 98-122, IAC Diplomata e Gen 96A3P1-1-1 foram menos ovipositados por B. tabaci no cultivo "das águas". Os genótipos Pérola, Gen 96A45-3-51-52-1, IAC Una, Gen 96A98-15-32-1, IAC Tybatã e FT Nobre foram menos infestados por C. phaseoli. A maior incidência de ninfas de mosca-branca ocorreu no fim de janeiro no cultivo "das águas" e início de maio no cultivo "da seca"; para tripés, foi em junho durante o cultivo "de inverno". A maior incidência da população de B. tabaci e C. phaseoli, ocorreu dos 46 aos 60 dias após a emergência das plantas.

The response of bean genotypes to infestation of Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) biotype B and Caliothrips phaseoli (Hood) in field conditions on the winter, rainy and dry seasons was evaluated. The experiment was arranged in a randomized Sub-divided (19x3x6) blocks design with 19 genotypes (IAC Tybatã, IAC Una, FT Nobre, Pérola, Gen 96A98-15-3-32-1, Gen 96A45-3-51-52-1, IAC Alvorada, IAC Diplomata, Gen 96A3-P1-1-1, LP 98-122, LP 02-130, LP 01-38, LP 9979, BRS-Pontal, BRS-Requinte, BRS-Triunfo, BRS-Grafite, CV-48 and Z-28) Three crops seasons of (winter, rainy and dry seasons) and six periods of evaluations were considered. The evaluations consisted on counting eggs and nymphs of B. tabaci biotype B and nymphs of C. phaseoli in 10 leaflets per plot. The genotypes IAC Una, Pérola, Gen 96A45-3-51-52-1, Gen 96A98-15-32-1, FT Nobre, IAC Tybatã, IAC Alvorada, LP 02-130, LP 01-38, LP 98-122, IAC Diplomata e Gen 96A3P1-1-1 were the least oviposited by B. tabaci biotype B, in rainy season. The least presence of C. phaesoli was observed on Gen 96A45-3-51-52-1, IAC Una, Gen 96A98-15-32-1, IAC Tybatã and FT Nobre. The highest occurrence of whitefly nymphs was observed during rainy season and beginning of the dry season, while the thrips preferred the winter season. The highest incidence of the population of B. tabaci biotype B and C. phaseoli, was found 46 to 60 DAE.

Avaliou-se, em laboratório, a não-preferência para alimentação de Epicauta atomaria em diferentes espécies de maracuja, em teste com e sem chance de escolha. Verificou-se a melhor densidade de insetos que proporcionam a discriminação quanto aos graus de resistência. Para avaliação, utilizaram P. setacea, P. alata, P. edulis, P. cincinnata e P. laurifolia. Para os testes com e sem chance de escolha, a não-preferência para alimentação foi avaliada através da atratividade, onde foi contado o número de insetos atraídos por espécie, em placa de Petri. As espécies P. laurifolia e P. alata foram resistentes a E. atomaria, expressando o tipo de resistência à não-preferência para alimentação. As densidades de E. atomaria que melhor discriminaram as espécies de maracujazeiro, são três e cinco (teste com chance de escolha) e dois (teste sem chance de escolha). P. edulis, P. setacea e P. cincinnata são suscetíveis a E. atomaria.

The no preference for feeding of Epicauta in different species of passion fruit in free choice and no choice tests was evaluated under laboratory conditions. It was verified the best density of insects that provides the discrimination of resistance degrees. P. setacea, P. alata, P. edulis, P. cincinnata and P. laurifólia were evaluated. For the tests with and without possibility of choice, the preference for no feeding was evaluated through the attractiveness, where the number of insects attracted by species in Petri dishes was counted. The species P. laurifolia e P. alata had been resistant to E. atomaria, expressing the type of resistance of no preference for feeding. The densities of E. atomaria that better discriminated the species of passion fruit are three and five (test with and without choice) and two (test without possibility of choice) P. edulis, P. setacea e P. cincinnata are susceptible to E. atomaria.
