ABSTRACT In order to ensure an adequate final stand and good yields in agricultural crops, a fast healthy seedling establishment in the field is essential and can be improved using seed treatment techniques. This study aimed to assess the effect of treating snap bean seeds with Bacillus subtilis doses on the development and yield components of the crop. Seeds of a determinate variety were used. A 4 × 4 + 1 factorial scheme was applied, being four seed treatments (film coating with and without drying, pre-imbibition and biopriming), four doses of B. subtilis-based commercial product (c.p.) (0, 7, 14 and 28 mL c.p. kg−1 of seed) and an absolute control. The analyzed variables were seed moisture content, seedling emergence, leaf length, width and area, plant height and height to first pod at harvest, number of trifoliate leaves and pods, pod length and number of grains per pod, and pod fresh and dry weight. The pre-imbibition and biopriming treatments were equal or superior to the absolute control. RESUMO A velocidade e a sanidade no estabelecimento de plântulas a campo são imprescindíveis para a obtenção de um estande final adequado e para a produtividade em um cultivo agrícola, os quais podem ser melhorados por técnicas baseadas no tratamento de sementes. Objetivou-se verificar a influência do tratamento de sementes de feijão vagem com doses de Bacillus subtilis sobre o desenvolvimento e componentes de produção da cultura. Foram utilizadas sementes de tipo determinado. Utilizou-se esquema fatorial 4 × 4 + 1, sendo quatro tratamentos de sementes (peliculização com e sem secagem, pré-embebição e biopriming), quatro doses de produto comercial (p. c.) à base de B. subtilis (0; 7; 14; e 28 mL p.c. kg−1 de semente) e uma testemunha absoluta. As variáveis analisadas foram teor de água de sementes, emergência de plântulas, comprimento, largura e área foliar, altura de plantas e de primeira vagem na colheita, número de trifólios e de vagens, comprimento e número de grãos por vagem, massa de matéria fresca e seca de vagens. Resumo: A associação de microrganismos benéficos com sementes de feijão-vagem, pode acelerar o estabelecimento da cultura a campo. O objetivo do trabalho foi verificar a influência de tipos de tratamentos de sementes com diferentes doses de Bacillus subtilis sobre potencial fisiológico de feijão-vagem. Utilizou-se sementes de feijão-vagem da cultivar Macarrão Baixo. O delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial duplo (4 x 4 + 1) teve no fator A os quatro tipos de tratamentos de sementes: Peliculização (PC), Peliculização com Secagem (PCS), Pré-Embebição (PE), Biopriming (BP); e no fator B quatro doses de B. subtilis: 0; 7; 14 e 28 mL de produto comercial.kg de semente-1, e uma testemunha absoluta sem tratamentos (4 x 4 + 1). Realizou-se os seguintes testes: grau de umidade, primeira contagem de germinação, germinação, condutividade elétrica, comprimento de plântulas, massa fresca e seca de plântulas, velocidade de emergência e emergência de plântulas. Os tratamentos não prejudicaram a viabilidade. O vigor foi beneficiado com uso de PE e doses entre 16 e 20 mL de p.c..kg de semente-1, e prejudicado pelo uso da peliculização. O destaque de PE e BP se mantém em relação à testemunha absoluta. A PE e BP associados com B. subtilis favorecem características como comprimento, massa e número de raízes secundárias de feijão-vagem.

Abstract: The association between beneficial microorganisms and green beans can accelerate establishment in the field. The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of seed treatments in different doses of Bacillus subtilis on the physiological potential of green beans. Seeds from the cultivar Macarrão Baixo were used. The study used a completely randomized design in a double factorial scheme with factor A in the treatments: Pelliculation (PC), Pelliculation with Drying (PCD), Pre-Imbibition (PI), Biopriming (BP); factor B, doses of B. subtilis: 0; 7; 14 and 28 mL of a commercial product.kg of seed-1, and a control. The following treatments were applied: moisture content analysis, first count and final germination, electrical conductivity, length, fresh and dry seedling weight, speed index, and final emergence. Analysis of variance was applied to the data and when significant, it was compared using Tukey’s test and polynomial regression; for the absolute control, orthogonal contrast was applied, with p < 0.05 for all analyses. The treatments did not impair seed viability. Vigor benefited with the use of PI and doses between 16 and 20 mL of p.c.kg of seed-1. PI alone had the best performance. Biopriming, associated with B. subtilis, favors the vigor of green beans.

Resumo: A qualidade da semente produzida é o reflexo do manejo empregado e das condições ambientais durante o cultivo. Objetivou-se avaliar o potencial fisiológico e a sanidade de sementes de soja produzidas em sistema orgânico e convencional. Foram testados os genótipos UEL 110 e 122, BRS 257 e 284, nos manejos orgânico e convencional em delineamento de blocos casualizados. Foram avaliados o teor de água, peso de mil sementes (PMS), germinação (G) e primeira contagem (PCG), tetrazólio (TZ), classificação, comprimento e massa seca de plântulas e sanidade. Realizou-se análise de variância separadamente para manejo, seguida da análise conjunta. Quando significativo aplicou-se teste de Tukey (p<0,05). Realizou-se análise multivariada, utilizando o software R. Não houve significância entre genótipos e sistemas de manejo. Para sistemas de manejo, o convencional se desempenhou positivamente para as características PMS, G, TZ, PCG, classificação, comprimento e massa seca de raiz das plântulas, além da sanidade. Os genótipos UEL obtiveram maior PMS, UEL 110 menor germinação, BRS 257 menor número de sementes não germinadas e maior infestação por Cladosporium spp. As sementes produzidas sob manejo orgânico apresentam maior peso e menor infestação por contaminantes, enquanto o manejo convencional produz sementes de melhor qualidade fisiológica e menor contaminação de Phomopsis e bactérias. O genótipo BRS 257 pode ter sementes multiplicadas nos manejos orgânico e convencional.

Abstract: The quality of seeds produced is the result of the management practices used and environmental conditions during growing. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological potential and the health of soybean seeds produced in an organic and conventional system. The genotypes UEL 110 and 122 and BRS 257 and 284 were tested in organic and conventional systems in a randomized block design. The following characteristics were evaluated: moisture content; thousand seed weight (TSW); germination (G) and first count of germination (FCG); tetrazolium (TZ); classification, length, and dry matter of seedlings; and seed health. Analysis of variance was performed separately for the management systems, followed by combined analysis. When significant, the Tukey test (p<0.05) was applied. Multivariate analysis was performed using R software. There was not significance between genotypes and management systems. The conventional management system performed positively for the characteristics TSW, G, TZ, FCG, classification, and length and dry matter of seedling roots, as well as for plant health. The UEL genotypes obtained higher TSW; UEL 110, lower germination; and BRS 257, a smaller number of ungerminated seeds and higher infestation by Cladosporium spp. The seeds produced under the organic system have greater weight and lower infestation by contaminants, whereas the conventional system produces seeds of better physiological quality and lower contamination by Phomopsis and bacteria. The genotype BRS 257 may have seeds multiplied in the organic and conventional management systems.
