Resumo A composição química da chuva é influenciada por fatores naturais ou antropogênicos, sendo a quantidade de nutrientes resultante da multiplicação de sua concentração pela quantidade precipitada. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi estimar: a quantidade de nutrientes aportada pela precipitação no bioma Pampa, a variação sazonal da composição química da água da chuva, a origem dos nutrientes encontrados na água. Os coletores de precipitação foram instalados em área aberta e quinzenalmente, durante 2 anos, os volumes foram aferidos e as amostras analisadas quimicamente. A concentração de nutrientes na água da chuva aumentou no inverno, porém, devido às menores precipitações, a deposição total foi semelhante às demais estações do ano. A análise que utiliza o coeficiente de Pearson mostra correlação negativa entre volume de chuva e conteúdo de íons, indicando o efeito de diluição. A quantidade total de nutrientes na precipitação incidente durante o estudo foi de 72,7 kg ha-1, representando uma média de 36,3 kg ha-1 ano-1. Os íons Ca2+ e K+ são predominantemente de origem litólica, enquanto os íons SO4 2- e NO3- de origem antropogênica. O equilíbrio entre a soma dos cátions pela soma dos ânions mostrou-se unitário, indicando excelente validação dos dados. A entrada desses nutrientes ocorre gradualmente, evitando perdas excessivas, aumentando o estoque no solo.

Abstract The chemical composition of rainfall is influenced by natural or anthropogenic factors; the amount of nutrients deposited is increased by the amount of rainfall. This work sought to estimate the amount of nutrients deposited by precipitation in the Pampa biome, the seasonal variation of the chemical composition of rain water, and the origin of nutrients found in the water. Precipitation collectors were installed in the open area to measure precipitation volumes biweekly over 2 years, and the samples were chemically analyzed. Concentrations of nutrients in the rain water increased over winter; however, since there was less precipitation, the total deposition was similar to the other seasons. Correlation analysis using the Pearson coefficient showed a negative correlation between rain volume and ion contents, indicating a dilution effect. The total amount of nutrients from precipitation during the study was 72.7 kg ha-1, representing an average of 36.3 kg ha-1 year-1. The Ca2+ and K+ ions are predominantly of litholical origin, whereas the SO4 2- and NO3 - ions were of anthropogenic origin. The balance between the sum of cations and the sum of anions was shown to be unitary, indicating excellent data validation. The input of these nutrients occurs gradually, avoiding excessive losses, increasing the stock in the soil.

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the influence of specific gravity on properties of oriented strand boards produced with five Eucalyptus species and get linear models between the properties and the densification of the panels. The species studied were: Eucalyptus benthamii, E. dunni, E. grandis, E. saligna, E. urograndis and the mixture between them. The panels were produced with phenol formaldehyde resin and nominal densities of 0,65 g/cm³ and 0,75 g/cm³. The water absorption has an inverse relationship to the density of the panel. The relation between mechanical properties and specific gravity of the panel is directly proportional. The panels produced with the Eucalyptus species showed better properties than those produced with control species (Pinus taeda), except for tensile perpendicular. By means of linear models obtained in this study conditions for each species, it can estimate the specific gravity to produce oriented strand board panels that adequate the standard requirements.

Resumen: El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la influencia de la masa específica de tableros OSB producidos con cinco especies de Eucalyptus en sus propiedades y obtener modelos lineales entre las propiedades y la densificación de los tableros. Las especies estudiadas fueron: Eucalyptus benthamii, E. dunni, E. grandis, E. saligna, E. urograndis y una mezcla entre ellas. Los tableros fueron producidos con resina fenol-formaldehído y las densidades específicas nominales fueron de 0,65 g/cm³ y 0,75 g/cm³. La absorción de agua tiene una relación inversa a la densidad específica del tablero. La relación entre las propiedades mecánicas y la densidad específica del tablero es directamente proporcional. Los tableros producidos con las especies Eucalyptus presentaron mejores propiedades que los producidos con la especie testigo (Pinus taeda), excepto para la tracción perpendicular. La mezcla compenso los valores de cohesion interna en la elaboración del tablero. A través de modelos lineales obtenidos en las condiciones de este estudio para cada especie, se puede estimar la densidad específica para producir tableros de hojuela orientada que cumplen con los requisitos reglamentarios.

RESUMO A expansão da silvicultura no Brasil e as consequentes práticas intensivas para o preparo do solo, com elevada demanda por fertilizantes, requerem ações de manejo nutricional sustentável dos sítios florestais. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi quantificar a biomassa e o estoque de micronutrientes, em um povoamento de Eucalyptus dunnii, aos 60 meses de idade, estabelecido em Alegrete, Rio Grande do Sul. O povoamento foi implantado em solo do tipo Argissolo Vermelho Distrófico típico, com baixa fertilidade natural e textura variando entre franco-arenosa e franco-argilo-arenosa. Para a amostragem da biomassa, doze árvores foram abatidas e seccionadas ao nível do solo, onde posteriormente houve o fracionamento nos componentes: raízes, folhas, galhos, casca do tronco e madeira do tronco, com determinação de massa seca e teores de micronutrientes. Verificou-se que a biomassa total do povoamento foi de 67,49 Mg ha-1, com sequência decrescente de alocação de massa na ordem de: madeira do tronco > raízes > casca do tronco > galhos > folhas. O estoque total de micronutrientes B, Cu, Fe, Mn e Zn na biomassa foi de 562,57; 401,46; 9.913,28; 31.877,82 e 766,96 g ha-1 respectivamente. Constatou-se maior acúmulo de zinco na madeira do tronco, elevado acúmulo de manganês especialmente na casca do tronco e de ferro nas raízes. Em função dos níveis de micronutrientes alocados na biomassa, enfatiza-se à prática de manutenção dos resíduos florestais no sítio após a colheita, indispensáveis para a nutrição florestal, que através da ciclagem de nutrientes propiciam a conservação da fertilidade.

ABSTRACT The expansion of silviculture in Brazil, and the consequent intensive practices for soil preparation with high demand for fertilizers require sustainable nutrient management of forest sites. The objective of this study was to quantify the biomass and the micronutrient stocks of a 60-month-old Eucalyptus dunnii stand established in Alegrete, Rio Grande do Sul. The stand was established in a Rhodic Paleudult soil with low fertility and texture varying between sandy loam and sandy-clay loam. For the sampling of stand biomass, twelve trees were harvested, sectioned at ground level, and subsequently fractionated into the components roots, leaves, branches, stembark and stemwood to determine the dry mass and micronutrient content. The total biomass of the stand was 67.49 Mg ha-1, with mass allocation in descending order from: stem wood > root > bark > branches > leaves. Total micronutrient stocks for boron (B), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and zinc (Zn) were 562.57, 401.46, 9913.28, 31877.82, and 766.96 g ha-1, respectively. In addition, we found greater accumulation of Zn in the wood, high Mn accumulation especially in the bark, and high Fe content in the roots. Therefore, based on these micronutrient levels and their allocation between biomass fractions, we emphasize that the practice of retaining forest residues on-site after harvest is essential for forest nutrition through nutrient cycling and for soil conservation and fertility.

RESUMO A produção de serapilheira é a principal responsável pela retenção e devolução de nutrientes para o solo em um povoamento florestal. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a devolução de nutrientes por meio da serapilheira produzida em um povoamento de Eucalyptus dunnii, no bioma Pampa. Para a quantificação da serapilheira produzida, foram demarcadas quatro parcelas de 420 m2, e no interior de cada parcela foram distribuídos quatro coletores de 0,50 m2. Para a coleta dos galhos grossos demarcou-se quatro sub-parcelas de 7,00 m2. O material coletado foi separado nas frações folhas, galhos grossos, galhos finos e miscelânea, com posterior análise química. A serapilheira produzida foi de 6,99 Mg ha-1 ano-1, distribuída em 61,57%, 17,34%, 13,83% e 7,26%, nas folhas, galhos finos, galhos grossos e miscelânea, respectivamente. A quantidade de macronutrientes na serapilheira foi de 160,22 kg ha-1 ano-1, sendo que, a ordem de transferência foi a mesma para as frações folhas, galhos finos e galhos grossos (Ca > N > K > Mg > S > P). Para os micronutrientes a quantidade foi 7,55 kg ha-1 ano-1, seguindo a ordem decrescente de Mn > Fe > B > Zn > Cu. A manutenção da serapilheira no sítio, principalmente em solos degradados ou de baixa fertilidade natural, como é o caso da região do bioma Pampa, poderá contribuir com possíveis melhorias nas características do solo.

ABSTRACT In a forest stand, litterfall is primarily responsible for the retention and return of nutrients to the soil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the return of nutrients through litterfall in a stand of Eucalyptus dunnii in a Pampa biome. For quantification of litterfall, four 420-m2 installments were marked; within each one, four 0.50-m2 collection plots were distributed. For the collection of thick branches, four 7.00-m2 sub-plots were staked out. The collected litterfall was separated into leaf, twig, thick branch, and miscellany fractions for subsequent chemical analysis. The total litterfall measured was 6.99 Mg ha-1 yr-1, and comprised 61.57% leaves, 17.34% twigs, 13.83% thick branches, and 7.26% miscellany. The total amount of macronutrients in the litterfall was 160.22 kg ha-1 yr-1, and the macronutrient transfer order was the same for the leaf, twig, and thick branch fractions (Ca > N > K > Mg > S > P). The total quantity of micronutrients was 7.55 kg ha-1 yr-1, and the transfer order was Mn > Fe > B > Zn > Cu. Maintaining litterfall on the site, especially in degraded or low fertility soils like in the Pampa biome, may contribute to possible improvements in soil characteristics.

O trabalho objetivou identificar os principais atributos químicos de solo que limitam o crescimento do Eucalyptus saligna em plantios sem calagem na região Sudoeste do Rio Grande do Sul, bem como determinar os valores críticos de cada fator. O estudo foi realizado em povoamentos florestais de dois Latossolos Vermelhos e um Neossolo Quartzarênico da região. Foram realizadas análises químicas do solo e, através de correlações (P<0,05) entre estes e variáveis de crescimento das plantas, verificou-se que os atributos que mais limitaram o crescimento das plantas foram a saturação por Al, a saturação por bases e o teor de Mg trocável, com decréscimo de até 50% nos parâmetros de crescimento. As correlações com os atributos químicos da camada subsuperficial de solo (20-40cm) foram mais significativas do que na camada superficial (0-20cm). Os níveis críticos médios para obtenção de 80% do rendimento relativo no crescimento em diâmetro e em volume de plantas foram de 79% para saturação por Al, 8,3% para saturação por bases e 0,3 cmolc dm-3 para o teor de Mg trocável. Os resultados indicam que a calagem não deve ser suprimida dos plantios de eucalipto em solos ácidos do Pampa gaúcho, mas a quantidade necessária de calagem para esta cultura parece ser menor do que a atualmente recomendada.

The study aimed to identify the main soil chemical attributes that constrains the Eucalyptus saligna growth in no-limed plantations at the southwestern region of Rio Grande do Sul state, as well as to determine the threshold values of each attribute. Forest plantations from two Oxisols and one Quartzipsamment were evaluated. Correlation analysis (P<0.05) between soil chemical attributes and plant growth variables indicated that the most constraining soil attributes were the Al saturation, bases saturation and exchangeable Mg content, whose decrease in plant growth was up to 50%. Subsurface soil attributes (20-40cm depth) had closer relation with plant growth than surface soil ones (0-20cm). The average threshold values for achieving 80% of the relative yield capacity in diameter growth of trunks and in volume were 79% for Al saturation, 8.3% for bases saturation and 0.3 cmolc dm-3 for exchangeable Mg. The results evidenced that liming should not be suppressed in eucalypt plantations on acid soils at south Brazilian Pampa and that the required amount of lime seem to be smaller than that currently recommended.
