Estudios previos han identificado dos dimensiones que componen este constructo, llamadas capacidad de absorción potencial (PACAP) y capacidad de absorción realizada (RACAP). Este estudio investiga la influencia de las dos dimensiones de la ACAP en relación con el desempeño y la innovación del proyecto, y también analiza el papel mediador que juega la RACAP en la relación entre la PACAP y el desempeño y la innovación del proyecto. Resumo A capacidade dinâmica é reconhecida no âmbito acadêmico e empresarial como um fator essencial para a firma construir diferencial e manter-se competitiva. Estudos preliminares avaliam a capacidade dinâmica sob a óptica da visão da firma baseada em recursos. Este estudo avança neste tema ao analisar o impacto da capacidade dinâmica baseada em conhecimento, apoiando-se na visão baseada em conhecimento, em relação à capacidade de inovação de times de projeto. Estudos prévios identificam a relação entre a capacidade dinâmica e a inovação ou performance organizacional, mas existe uma lacuna na teoria que relacione antecedentes da capacidade dinâmica. Desta forma, esta pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar a relação entre estrutura organizacional e capacidade dinâmica sobre a capacidade inovativa de times de projeto. Para alcançar este objetivo foram estudados 65 times de projeto de empresas industriais e os dados foram analisados a partir da técnica SEM-PLS. Os resultados apontam que estruturas maior grau de formalização e centralização impactam negativamente à capacidade dinâmica baseada em conhecimento, e a integração apresenta relação positiva. E ainda, a pesquisa mostra que a capacidade inovativa de times de projeto é diretamente afetada pela capacidade de geração e combinação de conhecimento, entretanto, a aquisição/absorção de conhecimento não interfere na inovação.

Abstract Dynamic capability is recognized in the academic and business context as an essential factor for the firm to build differential and remain competitive in dynamic markets. Most of these preliminary studies assess dynamic capability from the perspective of the resource-based view of the firm. This study advances on this theme by analyzing the impact of knowledge-based dynamic capability, based on the knowledge based vision of firm, about innovation of project team. Previous studies have identified the relationship between dynamic capability and innovation or organizational performance, but there is a gap in the theory that relates antecedents of dynamic capability. Thus, this research aims to analyze the relationship between organizational structure and dynamic capability on the innovative capacity of project teams. To achieve this objective, 65 project teams from industrial companies in the state of São Paulo were studied and the data were analyzed using the technique of structural equation modeling - partial least squares (SEM_PLS). The results show that structures with a higher degree of formalization and centralization have a negative impact on knowledge-based dynamic capability, and integration has a positive relationship with dynamic capability. Furthermore, the research shows that the innovative capacity of project teams is directly affected by the ability to generate and combine knowledge, however, the acquisition / absorption of knowledge does not interfere with the innovation activity of these teams.

Resumo: Este estudo investiga os efeitos da relação entre a cultura de aprendizagem e a capacidade dinâmica e a performance de equipes de manufatura do setor industrial. Diversos estudos propõem que a capacidade dinâmica é capaz de melhorar o desempenho organizacional e financeiro das empresas, entretanto, poucas pesquisas são focadas em analisar simultaneamente a relação entre a capacidade dinâmica e a cultura de aprendizagem e a performance de equipes de trabalho de manufatura. Este estudo é baseado em uma pesquisa survey com 201 empresas do setor industrial brasileiro com equipes de manufatura, utilizando-se a abordagem de mínimos quadrados parciais (PLS) para desenvolver a modelagem de equações estruturais para a análise dos dados. Os resultados indicam que a capacidade dinâmica exerce forte influência positiva no desempenho da equipe e, ainda, que, embora a cultura de aprendizagem não tenha relação direta com o desempenho, oferecem contribuições mediadas pela capacidade dinâmica.

Abstract: This study investigates the effects of the relationship between the learning culture and the dynamic capability and performance of manufacturing teams in the industrial sector. Several studies propose that dynamic capability is capable of improving the organizational and financial performance of companies, however, little research is focused on simultaneously analyzing the relationship between dynamic capability and learning culture and manufacturing teamwork performance. This study is based on a survey of 201 companies in the Brazilian industrial sector with manufacturing teams, using the partial least squares (PLS) approach to develop structural equation modeling for data analysis. The results indicate that the dynamic capability has a strong positive influence on the team's performance and that, although the learning culture is not directly related to the performance, they offer contributions mediated by the dynamic capability.

Abstract We assessed the current knowledge on non-avian reptile species composition in the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), southeastern Brazil. We used published data in indexed journals and verified voucher specimens housed in the herpetological collections of the Museu Nacional (UFRJ), and the Laboratory of Reptiles (ZUFRJ). We also confirmed vouchers from Instituto Vital Brazil (IVB) and from the Museum of Comparative Zoology (MCZ). We compiled a list containing 149 species of reptiles, distributed among Testudines (N = 15), Crocodylia (N = 1) and Squamata (N = 133; six amphisbaenians, 38 lizards and 89 snakes). Our results add 20 species to the previous list known for the state. Four species recorded are endemic to the state of Rio de Janeiro (Anolis neglectus, Glaucomastix littoralis, Leposternon scutigerum, and Liolaemus lutzae). We identified that 21 reptile species recorded in RJ state (nearly 15% of the total) are included in some threat category either in the IUCN, Brazilian (ICMBio) or state lists of endangered species. We also report that seven of the reptiles recorded are non-indigenous to the state: Cnemidophorus aff. lemniscatus (= Cnemidophorus cryptus), Anolis sagrei, Trachemys scripta, Trachemys dorbigni, Hemidactylus mabouia, Crotalus durissus terrificus, and Rhinoclemmys punctularia. The checklist presented here provides a comprehensive database for further research on the herpetofauna of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.

Resumo A gestão do conhecimento como prática capaz de trazer vantagem competitiva e inovação às firmas é um consenso entre os pesquisadores. A gestão do conhecimento é alicerçada por fatores contextuais, desenvolvidos de forma distinta pelas organizações. Dessa forma, esta pesquisa tem o propósito de identificar uma tipologia quanto ao desenvolvimento desses fatores contextuais. O estudo considera cinco constructos organizacionais relacionados à gestão do conhecimento: recursos humanos, trabalho em equipe, cultura organizacional, estrutura organizacional e desenvolvimento e absorção de conhecimento. A pesquisa é desenvolvida a partir de um survey em 78 empresas do setor automobilístico. A análise de dados é baseada nas técnicas estatísticas de análise fatorial exploratória, que desdobra as variáveis mensuráveis em fatores latentes, análise de cluster, que identifica agrupamentos de empresas, e análise discriminante, que valida a diferença estatística entre os clusters identificados. Os resultados apontam a existência de quatro agrupamentos distintos quanto à pratica da gestão do conhecimento, denominados de “Empresas Inovadoras”, “Empresas Exploradoras”, “Empresas Explotatoras” e “Empresas Retardatárias”.

Abstract Knowledge Management as a practice that returns competitive advantage and innovation to firms is a consensus among researchers. The Knowledge Management is supported by contextual factors developed differently by organizations. Thus, the aim of this research was to identify a typology for the development of these contextual factors. The study considers five organizational constructs related to Knowledge Management: human resources, teamwork, organizational culture, organizational structure, and knowledge development and absorption. The research was developed from a survey of 78 companies in the automotive sector and data analysis was based on the statistical techniques of exploratory factor analysis, which combines measurable variables into latent factors, cluster analysis, which identifies clusters of companies, and discriminant analysis, which validates the statistical difference between the clusters identified. The results point to four different clusters regarding the practice of Knowledge Management: “Innovative Companies”, “Explorative Companies”, “Exploitative Companies” and “Companies Laggards”.

Resumo Diante de ambiente dinâmico, como é o caso do setor automobilístico, alvo deste estudo, as organizações são desafiadas a estabelecer flexibilidade estratégica, conquistada por meio de inovações, que exigem a exploração e explotação do conhecimento. Estudos prévios apontam que a combinação de exploração e explotação do conhecimento é a estratégia ideal para inovação, pois a organização acessará novas tecnologias por meio da exploração de novos conhecimentos e refinará e aperfeiçoará a tecnologia dominante por meio da explotação do conhecimento primário. Grande parte dos estudos sobre o tema foca suas contribuições em analisar o impacto das iniciativas de gestão do conhecimento e da exploração e explotação do conhecimento sobre o desempenho inovativo e financeiro da firma; entretanto, percebem-se poucos estudos que investigam os fatores organizacionais que sustentam os processos de exploração e explotação do conhecimento. Os resultados da pesquisa mostram que os processos de exploração e explotação do conhecimento são impactados de forma distinta por cinco fatores contextuais, considerados nesta pesquisa: gestão de recursos humanos, liderança colaborativa, cultura de aprendizagem, autonomia e sistemas de tecnologia de informação (TI). Enquanto exploração é mais impactada por cultura de aprendizagem, autonomia e sistemas de TI, explotação está mais relacionada com liderança colaborativa e cultura de aprendizagem.

Abstract In face of dynamic environment, such as the automotive sector, organizations are challenged to establish strategic flexibility through innovations, which require knowledge exploration and exploitation. Previous studies point out that the combination of knowledge exploration and exploitation is the ideal strategy for innovation since it will lead organizations to access new technologies and refine and improve the dominant technology through the exploitation of primary knowledge. Most studies on the subject focus their contributions on analyzing the impact of knowledge management initiatives and the knowledge exploration and exploitation on the company’s innovative and financial performance; however, few studies have investigated the organizational factors that sustain the knowledge exploration and exploitation. The research results show that the processes of exploration and exploitation are impacted differently by five contextual factors considered in this research (human resource management, collaborative leadership, learning culture, autonomy and information technology (IT) systems). While exploration is most impacted by a learning culture, autonomy and IT systems, exploitation is closer related to collaborative leadership and learning culture.

Abstract Paper aims This study aims to analyze the relationship between teamwork factors and the process of dynamic capability in service providers. Originality Few researches seek to understand the organizational factors that promote dynamic capacity. In this sense, this research seeks to fill this gap by analyzing the development of dynamic capability from the intrinsic characteristics to teamwork. Research method In order to reach the research objective, a survey research was carried out in 188 service provider companies and the Partial Least Squares (PLS) was used to analyze the data. Main findings The results show that the cohesion, autonomy and integration of the team present high levels of positive relation with the processes of absorption, generation, storage and adaptation of knowledge. Implications for theory and practice The results of this study show that three characteristics that are intrinsic to teamwork (autonomy, integration and cohesion) in multi-unit service providers support the dynamic capability, in terms of the absorption, generation, storage and adaptation of knowledge.

Resumo: A gestão do Conhecimento (GC) é um tema que vem despertando o interesse de muitos pesquisadores nas últimas décadas, sendo grande parte das contribuições orientadas por etapas, denominadas processo de GC. Por se tratar de um tema abrangente, as publicações sobre o processo de GC apresentam contribuições multidisciplinares e, desta forma, esta pesquisa tem por objetivo conceituar este processo, analisando as principais abordagens que orientam o estudo de cada etapa, e, também, levantar as principais publicações que tratam do tema, classificando-as quanto à sua área de contribuição. Para alcançar estes objetivos, este artigo é orientado por uma pesquisa teórico-conceitual, na qual foram estudados 71 artigos. Os resultados desta pesquisa apontam que o processo de GC é constituído de quatro etapas: aquisição, armazenamento, distribuição e utilização do conhecimento. Na fase de aquisição, as temáticas estudadas são aprendizagem organizacional, absorção de conhecimento, processo criativo e transformação do conhecimento. Na fase de armazenamento, as contribuições tratam do indivíduo, organização e tecnologia da informação, enquanto na fase de distribuição os estudos concentram-se nas temáticas contato social, comunidade de prática e compartilhamento via tecnologia de informação. E, por fim, na fase de utilização, são abordados os temas forma de utilização, capacidade dinâmica e recuperação e transformação do conhecimento.

Abstract: Knowledge Management (KM) is a subject that has aroused the interest of many researchers in the last decade, being great part of contributions driven by steps, named KM process. Because it is an embracing theme, publications about KM process have multidisciplinary contributions and, thus, this research aims to conceptualize this process, analyzing the main approach that guides the study of each stage, and also, to raise the main publications on the subject, classifying them as to their contribution area. To reach these goals, this article is oriented by a theoretical-conceptual research, in which 71 articles were studied. The results indicate that the KM process consists of four stages: acquisition, storage, distribution, and use of knowledge. In the acquisition phase, the studied themes are organizational learning, knowledge inception, creative process and knowledge transformation. In the storage phase, the contributions deal with a person, an organization and information technology, while in the distribution phase the studies concentrate in social contact themes, practice community and sharing via information technology. And, finally, in the use phase, we address the form of use, dynamic capacity and retrieval and knowledge transformation.

RESUMO Atualmente, o desafio para os pesquisadores e gestores na área da gestão do conhecimento é estudar modelos que promovam a aquisição, retenção, distribuição e utilização do conhecimento por indivíduos e grupos das organizações. As empresas prestadoras de serviço são exemplos de organizações que apresentam dificuldades na retenção do conhecimento, uma vez que este é criado nos locais de prestação de serviço, isto é, distante da sede da empresa. Quando a empresa prestadora de serviço não se estrutura internamente a fim de resgatar este conhecimento diluído entre vários locais de operação, a chance de ocorrer a perda do conhecimento e de vantagem competitiva é grande. Desta forma, o principal objetivo deste trabalho é analisar um modelo organizacional voltado para um prestador de serviço que promova a retenção do conhecimento adquirido em seus diversos clientes. Os resultados apontam que as empresas prestadoras de serviço devem focar seu processo de retenção de conhecimento em um departamento específico. Este departamento tem a tarefa de identificar e resgatar as melhores práticas e lições aprendidas entre todos os funcionários que atuam em diferentes clientes em bancos de dados, e, além disso, promover a integração desses funcionários a fim de promover a distribuição de conhecimento tácito.

ABSTRACT Currently, the challenge for researchers and managers in the area of knowledge management is to study models that promote the acquisition, retention, distribution and use of knowledge by individuals and groups working in organizations. The service companies are examples of organizations that have difficulties in knowledge retention process, once it is created and acquired in different service sites, i.e., distant from the company headquarters. When the service provider company did not mobilize and structure internally in order to retain this knowledge diluted across multiple sites, the chance of loss the knowledge and competitive advantage is great. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to analyze an organizational model focused to a service provider that promotes the retention of the knowledge acquired in their different clients. The results suggest that service companies should focus on the process of knowledge retention in a specific department. This department has the task to identify and storage best practices and lessons learned among all employees who work on different clients in databases, and in addition, to promote the integration of these employees in order to promote the distribution of tacit knowledge.

Biowastes (BW), the main raw materials for the composting installations in developing countries, are characterized for containing uncooked food wastes (FW), high moisture content, low porosity, acidic pH, and low C/N ratios which affects the overall composting process (CP). In this study, we evaluated the effect of adding sugarcane bagasse (SCB) and star grass (SG) (Cynodon plectostachyus (K. Schum.) Pilg.) as bulking materials (BM) over the quality of the substrate, progress of the process, and quality of the obtained product. In this sense, two pilot-scale experiments were performed. The first one contained a substrate formed by 78% BW and 22% SCB (pile A). The second experiment contained a substrate formed by 66% BW and 34% SG (pile B). For each experiment, control treatments (piles A’ and B’ respectively) were performed by using 100% BW without BM. The results showed that in both cases the adding of BM improved substrate quality (pH, moisture, and total organic C content [TOC]), speeding up the starting step (2-3 d) and reducing the duration of the thermophilic phase of CP (3 d). However, the physico-chemical properties of both BM increased cooling and maturation phases duration (between 15 and 20 d). Obtained products quality was improved in terms of higher TOC, cation-exchange capacity, bulk density, and higher water holding capacity. Application of obtained products A and B could improve some soil properties like major nutrient, water retention, and increasing the organic matter.

Resumo Os modelos mais recentes sobre Gestão do Conhecimento (GC) reconhecem quatro fases para a sua prática: aquisição, armazenamento, distribuição e utilização do conhecimento. A GC se caracteriza como uma disciplina multidisciplinar, envolvendo aspectos de ordem técnica e social e devido à diversidade de assuntos que cerca esse tema, é essencial delimitar seu estudo. Nesse sentido, o recorte proposto para esta pesquisa é social e de coordenação, tendo como objetivo a identificação de fatores contextuais, desenvolvidos internamente às organizações, que sustentam o processo de GC em empresas do setor automobilístico. Para atingir esse objetivo é utilizado um método de pesquisa quantitativo, baseado em uma pesquisa survey. Os resultados obtidos apontam para a existência de oito fatores contextuais que sustentam o processo de GC. Esses fatores são relacionados essencialmente ao ser humano, responsável pela retenção e transformação do conhecimento primário, e ao desenvolvimento de um contexto organizacional que estimule o processo de aprendizagem.

Abstract The latest models of Knowledge Management (KM) recognize four phases: acquisition, storage, distribution and use of knowledge. KM is characterized as a multidisciplinary field, involving both technical and social facets. Due to the diversity of issues surrounding this topic, it is essential to define their study. This research is based on social and coordination studies that seek to identify contextual factors developed internally in organizations that support the KM process in the automotive industry. To achieve this goal, a quantitative research method based on a surveys was used. The results point to the existence of eight contextual factors that support KM. These factors are mainly related to the human beings responsible for the retention and transformation of common knowledge and the development of an organizational context that encourages the learning process.

Resumo O estado atual da arte sobre melhoria contínua leva em consideração que as competências e comportamentos organizacionais são elementos mais importantes para a condução e sustentabilidade do que os aspectos de ordem técnica. Este conjunto de competências e comportamentos, inicialmente tratados por Bessant e Caffyn na década de 90, considera, essencialmente, que as organizações devem construir um ambiente voltado à aprendizagem contínua. Desta forma, este artigo tem como objetivo principal analisar o desenvolvimento das competências que sustentam os programas de melhoria contínua em dois ambientes produtivos distintos: setor automobilístico e de bens de capital sob encomenda. A partir de um referencial teórico sobre o tema, é levantado um conjunto de competências que é relacionado à prática da melhoria contínua e, por meio de uma abordagem qualitativa, são analisadas quatro empresas dos dois setores considerados, utilizando-se uma estratégia de estudo de casos. Os resultados da pesquisa sugerem que as empresas do setor automobilístico pesquisadas apresentam maior nível de envolvimento dos funcionários em relação aos programas de melhoria contínua, quando comparadas às empresas do setor de bens de capital, que se justifica pela estratégia adotada pelas organizações.

Abstract The current state of the art on continuous improvement takes into account that the organizational competences and behaviors are more important elements for continuous improvement sustainability than the technical aspect. This set of competences and behaviors, initially treated by Bessant and Caffyn in the 90s, essentially considers that companies must build an environment geared to ongoing learning. Thus, this paper aimed to analyze the development of competences that support the continuous improvement in two different production environments: the automotive and capital goods to order industry. A set of competences that is related to the practice of continuous improvement is raised based on a theoretical background, and through a qualitative approach, four companies of the two considered sectors are analyzed. The research results suggest that the researched automotive sector companies have higher level of employee engagement in continuous improvement programs compared to companies in the capital goods sector, which is justified by the strategy adopted by the them.

AbstractAscorbic acid, carotenoids and polyphenols stand out among the orange juice natural antioxidants. The winemaking process affects their bioavailability and bioactivity. Antioxidant activities (AA) were estimated in different process conditions to asses those properties. The AA and their correlation with ascorbic acid, total phenolics and carotenoids content were calculated. The variables and levels analyzed were: pasteurized and natural must (PJ and NJ), pH 3.5 and 4.0 and fermentation temperatures at 10°C and 20°C. Statistically significant differences (α=0.05) were found among bioactive compounds concentrations. Antioxidant compounds concentration was higher in raw material than in orange wine. Juice pasteurization caused the major losses while subsequent vinification affects them to a lesser extent. Highest antioxidants retention was measured in wines from JN fermented at pH 3.5 and 10 °C (JN-3.5-10) followed by wines from JP and fermented at the same conditions (JP-3.5-10). AA determined by DPPH showed a positive and close correlation with FRAP, while ABTS showed a low correlation with former assays. Juice pasteurization process and fermentation temperature influenced bioactive compound reduction which correlates with the AA variation.

This research develops a theoretical framework on the implications of the organizational characteristics on the knowledge management (KM). The organizational characteristics are handled in this work as constructs, as they are complex concepts. This paper is based on a theoretical research, considering original and classic articles on KM. From a broad theoretical-conceptual research, the paper presents as a result five organizational constructs that support the KM process: human resources, team work, organizational culture, organizational structure and development and absorption of knowledge. The article presents the implications of these constructs in relation to the four phases of the KM process (acquisition, storage, distribution and use of knowledge).

Resistência da mosca-dos-chifres a inseticidas piretróides ocorre em todo o país, entretanto, o conhecimento sobre os mecanismos envolvidos é ainda incipiente. Este estudo objetivou identificar os mecanismos de resistência desta mosca à cipermetrina em Mato Grosso do Sul. Bioensaios utilizando papéis impregnados com cipermetrina, isoladamente ou sinergizada por butóxido de piperonila (PBO) ou trifenil fosfato (TPP), foram realizados de março∕2004 a junho∕2005 em 33 populações. Todas as populações apresentaram elevada resistência à cipermetrina, com fatores de resistência (FR) variando de 89,4 a 1.020,6. Ensaios de reação em cadeia da polimerase (PCR) visando a detecção de kdr(“knockdown resistance”) foram realizados em 16 amostras. A mutação kdr foi detectada em 75% das populações, geralmente em baixas frequências (<20%) e ausente em algumas populações resistentes. A adição de TPP não reduziu significativamente a CL50 em nenhuma população. Entretanto, o PBO reduziu em mais de 40 vezes a CL50 de todas as populações testadas, resultando em FR ≤ 10 na maioria dos casos. Resistência da mosca-dos-chifres à cipermetrina encontra-se disseminada no estado, sendo causada primariamente por um aumento da atividade de P450 mono-oxigenases e secundariamente pela redução da sensibilidade do sítio de ação do inseticida.

Horn fly resistance to pyrethroid insecticides occurs throughout Brazil, but knowledge about the involved mechanisms is still in an incipient stage. This survey was aimed to identify the mechanisms of horn fly resistance to cypermethrin in Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil. Impregnated filter paper bioassays using cypermethrin, synergized or not with piperonyl butoxide (PBO) and triphenyl phosphate (TPP), were conducted from March 2004 to June 2005 in horn fly populations (n = 33) from all over the state. All populations were highly resistant to cypermethrin, with resistance factors (RF) ranging from 89.4 to 1,020.6. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays to detect the knockdown resistance (kdr) mutation also were performed in 16 samples. The kdr mutation was found in 75% of the tested populations, mostly with relatively low frequencies (<20%), and was absent in some highly resistant populations. Addition of TPP did not significantly reduce the LC50 in any population. However, PBO reduced LC50s above 40-fold in all tested populations, resulting in RFs ≤ 10 in most cases. Horn fly resistance to cypermethrin is widespread in the state, being primarily caused by an enhanced activity of P450 mono-oxygenases and secondarily by reduced target site sensitivity.
