RESUMO Para obtenção de altas produtividades, os agricultores devem utilizar no estabelecimento das culturas sementes de elevada qualidade em todos seus atributos. Neste contexto, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi verificar os efeitos do beneficiamento em mesa de gravidade sobre a incidência fúngica em lotes de sementes de cártamo.

ABSTRACT To obtain high yields, farmers must use high quality seeds, considering all their attributes, for the crop establishment. Thus, the objective of the present study was to verify the effects of gravity table processing on fungal incidence in safflower seed lots.

ABSTRACT This study broadens the knowledge of plant-pathogen interactions using phytohormone-deficient and low-sensitivity mutant tomatoes. The experiment was performed under greenhouse conditions and the mutants used were provided by the HCPD laboratory, at ESALQ/USP. The hormone mutant Never ripe showed a larger final lesion size when inoculated with Botrytis cinerea, whereas curl3 was relatively resistant to this pathogen and more susceptible when inoculated with Phytophthora infestans. The transgenic 35S :: nahG was more susceptible to Oidium lycopersici, and the double mutant dgt, Nr more resistant. The low sensitivity to brassinosteroids confers greater susceptibility to P. infestans and higher resistance to B. cinerea. The deficiency of the hormone auxin promotes high resistance to diseases caused by O. lycopersici, P. infestans and B. cinerea.

RESUMO: A diferenciação do crescimento e desenvolvimento das plântulas, é resultado do nível de vigor do lote das sementes. Em virtude disto, conhecer a curva de crescimento das plântulas é fundamental para que a avaliação do teste de comprimento de plântulas, seja realizada no momento em que realmente se manifestem as eventuais diferenças de vigor, podendo assim reduzir o tempo de avaliação do teste. No trabalho, o objetivo foi determinar o intervalo de tempo mais eficiente para realizar o teste de comprimento de plântula em sementes de soja, em função dos níveis de vigor. As características avaliadas foram germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, emergência, dias para emergência, comprimento de parte aérea, raiz e total (avaliados de 12 em 12 horas), massa seca de parte aérea, raiz e total em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. As sementes de alto vigor originaram plântulas com maiores taxas de crescimento (cm. h-1), sendo o vigor um dos fatores que interfere no teste de comprimento de plântulas. Após 96 horas do teste de comprimento de plântula ocorreu a diferenciação estatística entre os três níveis de vigor testados. O teste de comprimento de plântula de soja entre lotes, com vigor distinto, pode ser realizado 96 horas após a semeadura.

ABSTRACT: The differentiation of seedling growth and development is the result of the vigor level of the seed lot. Because of this, knowing the seedling growth curve is essential for the evaluation of the seedling length test, to be carried out at the moment when any differences in vigor really manifest, thus being able to reduce the time of evaluation of the test. In this research, the objective was to determine the most efficient time interval to perform the seedling length test in soybean seeds, depending on the vigor levels. The evaluated characteristics were percentage of seed germination, first germination count, emergency, days for emergence, aerial, root and total length (evaluated every 12 hours), aerial, root and total dry mass in completely randomized design. High vigor seeds originated seedlings with higher growth rates (cm. h-1), with vigor being one of the factors that interfere in the seedling length test. After 96 hours of the seedling length test, there was a statistical differentiation between the three vigor levels tested. The soybean seedling length test between lots, with different vigor, can be performed 96 hours after sowing.

Resumo Não havendo normas padronizadas para realização de testes laboratoriais com sementes de soja tratadas quimicamente, objetivou-se avaliar o desempenho fisiológico de sementes de soja tratadas por produtos fitoquímicos nos substratos padrão (rolo de papel e entre areia) indicados pelas Regras para Análise de Sementes e em substratos classificados como alternativos (vermiculita entre papel e areia entre papel). Para isso, foram utilizadas sementes de diferentes cultivares de soja tratadas com fungicidas e/ou inseticidas (Maxim Advanced®, CropStar®, Rocks® e Cruiser® 350 FS), semeadas nos substratos padrões e em substratos alternativos. O estudo foi realizado em delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema bifatorial, com quatro repetições. Foram avaliadas as variáveis primeira contagem, plântulas anormais e germinação. As cultivares ‘Elite IPRO’ e ‘2606 IPRO’ apresentaram interação dos fatores com resultados inferiores quanto à qualidade fisiológica das sementes tratadas com imidacloprido+tiodicarbe, enquanto ‘7161 RR’, também com interação significativa, pouco variou entre tratamentos. ‘6410 IPRO’, ‘7062 IPRO’ e ‘15630 IPRO’ apresentaram indícios de relação negativa na presença do ingrediente ativo imidacloprido com destaque positivo para o uso do substrato areia em detrimento do papel. A cultivar ‘7209 IPRO’ apresentou-se mais estável, sem interação significativa, mas com melhores resultados para sementes não tratadas e tratadas com tiametoxam, assim como para o substrato areia. É possível constatar divergências entre as cultivares e efeitos negativos de produtos contendo imidacloprido, principalmente no substrato papel.

Abstract Since there are no standardized standards for carrying out laboratory tests with chemically treated soybean seeds, the objective was to evaluate the physiological performance of soybean seeds treated by phytochemicals on the standard substrates (paper roll and between sand) indicated by the Rules for Seed Analysis and on substrates classified as alternative (vermiculite between paper and sand between paper). For that, seeds of different soybean cultivars were used treated with fungicides and/or insecticides (Maxim Advanced®, CropStar®, Rocks® and Cruiser® 350 FS), sown on standard substrates and on alternative substrates. The study was carried out in a completely randomized design in a bifactorial scheme, with four replications. The variables first count, abnormal seedlings and germination were evaluated. The cultivars ‘Elite IPRO’ and ‘2606 IPRO’ showed interaction of factors with lower results regarding the physiological quality of seeds treated with imidacloprid + thiodicarb, while ‘7161 RR’, also with significant interaction, little varied between treatments. ‘6410 IPRO’, ‘7062 IPRO’ and ‘15630 IPRO’ showed evidence of a negative relationship in the presence of the active ingredient imidacloprid with a positive emphasis on the use of the substrate sand instead of paper. The cultivar ‘7209 IPRO’ was more stable, without significant interaction, but with better results for untreated seeds and treated with thiamethoxam, as well as for the substrate sand. It is possible to observe divergences between cultivars and negative effects of products containing imidacloprid, mainly in the paper substrate.

RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo ajustar a metodologia do teste de comprimento de plântula para sementes de soja e milho, em função do nível de vigor e tamanho da semente. Para isso foram utilizadas sementes de soja da cultivar ‘5855 RSF IPRO’ (BMX ELITE) e de milho híbrido ‘Fórmula Viptera’, classificadas em dois tamanhos de peneira e dois níveis de vigor para soja e três níveis para milho. Foi adotado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. Foram avaliados germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, emergência em canteiro, índice de velocidade de emergência, velocidade de emergência, comprimento de parte aérea, raiz e total (avaliados de 12 em 12 horas), massa seca de parte aérea, raiz e total. A classificação das sementes de soja por tamanho, exerce influência direta sobre a taxa de germinação e vigor das sementes, e consequentemente no comprimento de plântulas, onde sementes de alto vigor da peneira 6,50 mm, apresentaram maiores taxas de comprimento. O comprimento de raiz e o total de plântulas de milho sofrem interferência apenas dos fatores níveis de vigor e tamanho de sementes atuando isoladamente. O melhor tempo para ser realizada a avaliação do comprimento de plântulas em sementes de soja é 120 horas, e em milho em 96 horas.

ABSTRACT This work had as objective to adjust the methodology of the seedling length test for soybean and maize seeds, depending on the level of vigor and size of the seed. Therefore, it was used soybean seeds of cultivar ‘5855 RSF IPRO’ (BMX ELITE) and hybrid maize seeds of the cultivar ‘Fórmula Viptera’, classified in two sizes of sieve and two levels of vigor for soybean and three levels for maize. A completely randomized design with four replications was adopted. Germination, first germination counting, emergence in seedbed, emergence velocity index, emergence velocity, shoot, root and total length (evaluated every 12 hours), shoot, root and total dry mass were evaluated. The classification of soybean seeds by size exerts a direct influence on seed germination and vigor, and consequently on seedling length, where seeds with high vigor and of the 6.5 mm sieve presented higher rates of length. Root and total length of maize seedlings are only affected by factors of vigor and seed size acting alone. The best time to be carried out the evaluation of seedlings length in soybean seeds was 120 hours, and in maize was 96 hours.

RESUMO O desempenho fisiológico de sementes diz respeito à sua qualidade fisiológica e vigor, enquanto a qualidade sanitária pode interferir na germinação e estabelecimento inicial de plântulas no campo devido à interação dos micro-organismos associados às sementes. O trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o desempenho fisiológico e a qualidade sanitária de sementes de pepino e verificar a relação entre esses atributos. A qualidade fisiológica de sementes de pepino foi avaliada pelos testes de germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, deterioração controlada, condutividade elétrica, emergência de plântulas, índice de velocidade de emergência e envelhecimento acelerado tradicional e modificado com solução salina por 48, 72 e 96 horas. A qualidade sanitária das sementes foi avaliada pelo método do papel-filtro. A estratificação de lotes de sementes de pepino ocorreu de maneira similar à emergência de plântulas pelos testes de deterioração controlada, primeira contagem da germinação e condutividade elétrica. Os lotes de sementes de pepino avaliados apresentaram alto percentual de germinação; no entanto, os lotes 1 e 3 apresentaram melhor desempenho nos testes de vigor que os lotes 2 e 4. Os fungos detectados no teste do papel-filtro foram Alternaria sp., Aspergillus sp., Cladosporium sp. e Penicillium sp. Os lotes 2 e 4 de menor vigor avaliados pelos testes de emergência de plântulas e de deterioração controlada foram os mesmos que apresentaram maior incidência de Penicillium sp. na avaliação da qualidade sanitária das sementes. A incidência de Penicillium sp. pode influenciar negativamente o vigor de sementes de pepino avaliado pela emergência de plântulas pelo teste de deterioração controlada.

ABSTRACT The physiological performance of seeds is related to their physiological quality and seed vigor, while their health quality may interfere with germination and early seedling establishment in the field due to the interaction of microorganisms associated with seeds. The study aimed to evaluate the physiological performance and health quality of cucumber seeds and to verify the relationship between these attributes. The physiological quality of cucumber seeds was evaluated by standard germination tests, first count of germination, controlled deterioration test, electrical conductivity test, seedling emergence, emergence speed index, and traditional accelerated aging and aging modified with saline for 48, 72, and 96 h. The health quality of cucumber seed lots was evaluated by blotter test. Stratification of cucumber seed lots by seedling emergence was similar to seedling emergence by controlled deterioration test, first count of germination, and electrical conductivity results. The cucumber seed lots evaluated showed high germination rates; however, lots 1 and 3 had a better performance in vigor tests than lots 2 and 4. Fungi detected in the blotter test were Alternaria sp., Aspergillus sp., Cladosporium sp., and Penicillium sp. Seed lots 2 and 4 had low vigor evaluated by seedling emergence and controlled deterioration, and showed a higher incidence of Penicillium sp. in the evaluation of health quality of seeds. The incidence of Penicillium sp. may negatively affect the vigor of cucumber seeds evaluated by seedling emergence and by controlled deterioration test.
