Restrições terminais são tipicamente empregadas em formulações de controle preditivo para garantia de estabilidade em malha fechada. Contudo, tal garantia é perdida caso o problema de otimização associado não seja factível no instante inicial ou deixe de ser factível devido, por exemplo, à ocorrência de falhas. Este trabalho apresenta uma abordagem de gerenciamento de referência aliado ao relaxamento de restrições operacionais como forma de tratar problemas de não-factibilidade em controle preditivo. Considera-se que a não-factibilidade pode ocorrer tanto no início da tarefa de controle, em decorrência de uma condição inicial desfavorável, como pode ser causada por uma falha de atuador que reduza a faixa de valores de controle permitidos. A abordagem proposta envolve a parametrização do conjunto máximo admissível de saída (MAS) utilizado como restrição terminal na lei de controle. Evita-se assim a necessidade de se repetir a determinação do MAS durante o tratamento da não-factibilidade. Para fins de exemplo, apresenta-se um estudo de caso com um modelo de simulação.

Terminal constraints are usually employed in predictive control formulations to provide closed-loop stability guarantees. However, such guarantees are lost if the associated optimization problem is not feasible from the beginning or if it becomes infeasible due to the onset of faults, for example. This work presents an approach involving setpoint management and relaxation of operational constraints to address infeasibility problems in predictive control. It is assumed that infeasibility may occur either at the beginning of the control task, due to an adverse initial condition, or as the result of an actuator fault that reduces the range of admissible control values. The proposed approach involves the parametrization of the maximal output admissible set (MAS) employed as terminal constraint in the control law. This parametrization avoids the need to repeat the MAS determination during the infeasibility handling procedure. For illustration purposes, a case study involving a simulation model is presented.

Este artigo é um tutorial introdutório sobre controle ótimo pseudo-espectral. Em métodos pseudo-espectrais, uma função é aproximada como uma combinação linear de funções de base suaves, tipicamente escolhidas como polinômios de Legendre ou Chebyshev. A colocação de equações algébrico-diferenciais é realizada em pontos de colocação ortogonal, que são selecionados de modo a minimizar o erro de interpolação. Métodos pseudo-espectrais discretizam o problema de controle ótimo original de modo a convertê-lo em um problema de programação não-linear. Um otimizador numérico é então empregado para obter soluções localmente ótimas. Este artigo também descreve sucintamente a funcionalidade e a implementação de um pacote computacional de código aberto escrito em C++ chamado PSOPT. Tal pacote emprega métodos de discretização pseudo-spectrais para resolver problemas de controle ótimo com múltiplas fase. O PSOPT permite a utilização de métodos de Legendre ou Chebyshev, e possui características úteis tais como diferenciação automática, detecção de esparsidade e escalonamento automático. O uso de métodos pseudo-espectrais é ilustrado em dois problemas retirados da literatura de controle ótimo computacional.

This paper is a tutorial introduction to pseudospectral optimal control. With pseudospectral methods, a function is approximated as a linear combination of smooth basis functions, which are often chosen to be Legendre or Chebyshev polynomials. Collocation of the differential-algebraic equations is performed at orthogonal collocation points, which are selected to yield interpolation of high accuracy. Pseudospectral methods directly discretize the original optimal control problem to recast it into a nonlinear programming format. A numerical optimizer is then employed to find approximate local optimal solutions. The paper also briefly describes the functionality and implementation of PSOPT, an open source software package written in C++ that employs pseudospectral discretization methods to solve multi-phase optimal control problems. The software implements the Legendre and Chebyshev pseudospectral methods, and it has useful features such as automatic differentiation, sparsity detection, and automatic scaling. The use of pseudo-spectral methods is illustrated in two problems taken from the literature on computational optimal control.

Este artigo apresenta uma extensão multivariável para uma técnica recentemente proposta de detecção de falhas baseada em wavelets. Na formulação original, a Transformada Wavelet Discreta é utilizada para realizar testes de consistência dinâmica entre pares de sinais dentro de faixas de freqüência. Para isso, são empregados modelos do tipo média móvel com termo integrativo para reproduzir a dinâmica do sistema em cada faixa considerada. O presente trabalho introduz uma nova arquitetura, que possibilita o uso de modelos em subbandas com estruturas multivariáveis mais gerais. Mais especificamente, uma estrutura ARX (autoregressiva com entrada exógena) multivariável é adotada para cada modelo em sub-bandas. A técnica proposta é ilustrada em um estudo de caso envolvendo um modelo de simulação não-linear para uma aeronave com falha de sensor. Os resultados mostram que a abordagem multivariável é superior à formulação original em termos de amplificação doresíduo após a ocorrência da falha.

This paper presents a multivariable extension to a recently proposed wavelet-based technique for fault detection. In the original formulation, the Discrete Wavelet Transform is used to carry out dynamic consistency checks between pairs of signals within frequency subbands. For this purpose, moving average models with an integrative term are employed to reproduce the dynamics of the system in each subband under consideration. The present work introduces a new architecture allowing the use of subband models with more general multivariable structures. More specifically, a multivariable ARX (autoregressive with exogenous input) structure is adopted for each subband model. The proposed technique is illustrated in a case study involving a nonlinear simulation model for an aircraft with a sensor fault. The results show that the multivariable approach outperforms the original formulation in terms of residue amplification following the fault onset.

This paper is a translation of an IUPAC document by K. Danzer, M. Otto and L. A. Currie (Pure Appl. Chem., 2004, 76(6), 1215-1225). Its goal is to establish a uniform and meaningful standard for terminology (in Portuguese), notation, and formulation concerning multispecies calibration in analytical chemistry. Calibration in analytical chemistry refers to the relation between sample domain and measurement domain (signal domain) expressed by an analytical function x = f s (Q) representing a pattern of chemical species Q and their amounts or concentrations x in a given test sample and a measured function y = f (z) that may be a spectrum, chromatogram, etc. Simultaneous multispecies analyses are carried out mainly by spectroscopic and chromatographic methods in a more or less selective way. For the determination of n species Qi (i=1,2, ..., n), at least n signals must be measured which should be well separated in the ideal case. In analytical practice, the situation can be different.

Calibration transfer has received considerable attention in the recent literature. Several standardization methods have been proposed for transferring calibration models between equipments. The goal of this paper is to present a general revision of calibration transfer techniques. Basic concepts will be reviewed, as well as the main advantages and drawbacks of each technique. A case study based on a set of 80 NIR spectra of maize samples recorded on two different instruments is used to illustrate the main calibration transfer techniques (direct standardization, piecewise direct standardization, orthogonal signal correction and robust variable selection).

Este trabalho compara o uso de um conjunto de validação separado e de validação cruzada amostra-a-amostra para guiar a seleção de variáveis no Algoritmo das Projeções Sucessivas (APS) para calibração multivariada. This work compares the use of a separate validation set and leave-one-out cross-validation to guide the selection of variables in the Successive Projections Algorithm (SPA) for multivariate calibration. A comparative study of the Fourier (FT) and the wavelet transforms (WT) for instrumental signal denoising is presented. The basic principles of wavelet theory are described in a succinct and simplified manner. For illustration, FT and WT are used to filter UV-VIS and plasma emission spectra using MATLAB software for computation. Results show that FT and WT filters are comparable when the signal does not display sharp peaks (UV-VIS spectra), but the WT yields a better filtering when the filling factor of the signal is small (plasma spectra), since it causes low peak distortion.
