Abstract The objective of this work was to select experimental corn lines genetically resistant to the bacterial leaf streak caused by Xanthomonas vasicola pv. vasculorum, in two growing seasons. The treatments were carried out in an experimental randomized block design in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 growing seasons, under a covered environment, with open ventilation, with four replicates. Seven lines resistant to and seven susceptible to foliar diseases were evaluated, in addition to two commercial hybrids used as checks. At the corn flowering stage, an artificial inoculation containing 3.78x1010 CFU mL−1 of bacterial suspension was performed, and disease incidence and severity were assessed, based on a diagrammatic scale, every seven days. From these evaluations, the areas under the disease progress curve for each line were calculated, and individual and joint analyses of variance were performed. There is genetic variability among the corn genotypes for reaction to bacterial leaf streak, with a significant effect for the areas under the disease progress curve for incidence (AUDPCI) and severity (AUDPCS) between genotypes and between growing seasons, and for the genotype x season interaction. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi selecionar linhagens experimentais de milho geneticamente resistentes à estria bacteriana causada por Xanthomonas vasicola pv. vasculorum, em duas safras. Os tratamentos foram realizados em um delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso, nas safras 2019/2020 e 2020/2021, em ambiente coberto e com ventilação aberta, com quatro repetições. Sete linhagens resistentes e sete suscetíveis a doenças foliares foram avaliadas, além de dois híbridos comerciais, utilizados como controles. No estágio de florescimento do milho, foi realizada a inoculação artificial com 3,78x1010 UFC mL−1 de suspensão bacteriana, e a incidência e a severidade da doença foram avaliadas, com base em escala diagramática, a cada sete dias. A partir destas avaliações, as áreas abaixo da curva de progresso da doença foram calculadas para cada linhagem, e as análises de variância individuais e conjuntas foram realizadas. Há variabilidade genética entre os genótipos de milho quanto à reação à estria bacteriana, com efeito significativo para as áreas sob as curvas de progresso da doença quanto à incidência (AUDPCI) e à severidade (AUDPCS) entre genótipos e entre safras, e quanto à interação genótipo x safra. RESUMO O presente estudo teve como objetivo verificar aplicação de diferentes variáveis para determinação da sensibilidade de isolados de Alternaria spp. ao fungicida Boscalida. As variáveis testadas foram inibição do crescimento micelial (ICM), concentração inibitória mínima (CIM) e concentração inibitória a 50% (IC50). Apenas a variável IC50, variável proveniente de análise de regressão, conseguiu discriminar a diferença de sensibilidade dos isolados obtidos de diferentes culturas. Portanto sendo a mais recomendada para estudos com o patógeno.

ABSTRACT The present study aimed to check the application of different variables to determine the sensitivity of isolates of Alternaria spp. to the fungicide boscalid. The tested variables were mycelial growth inhibition (MGI), minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and inhibitory concentration at 50% (IC50). Only the variable IC50, from regression analysis, was capable of discriminating the difference in sensitivity of the isolates obtained from different cultures. Thus, it is the most recommended variable for studies with the pathogen.

RESUMO: O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar a resposta de plantas de trigo diante da aplicação de possíveis compostos elicitores perante o patógeno Bipolaris sorokiniana. Tal resposta foi examinada por meio da quantificação de enzimas antioxidantes, malondialdeído e flavonoides, da análise da severidade da doença mancha marrom e da produtividade na cultura do trigo, em casa de vegetação e em campo. Os tratamentos consistiram em suspensões de fungos endofíticos Aspergillus japonicus e Trichoderma tomentosum, ácido salicílico, acibenzolar-S-metil e fungicida. Nos ensaios em campo, em 2015 e 2016, o desenvolvimento da doença foi menor e a produtividade foi superior em todos os tratamentos, com destaque para o fungicida. No entanto, as suspensões de fungos endofíticos demonstraram potencial como promotores de crescimento, redutores da severidade da doença e ativadores de resposta antioxidante protetora, pois promoveram o aumento significativo das enzimas superóxido dismutase e catalase, das glutationas e flavonoides.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this research was to evaluate the response of wheat plants to the application of possible elicitor compounds against Bipolaris sorokiniana pathogen. This response was measured through the quantification of antioxidant enzymes, malondialdehyde and flavonoids, evaluation of the severity of brown spot disease and productivity in wheat, greenhouse and field crops. The treatments consisted of suspensions of endophytic fungi Aspergillus japonicus and Trichoderma tomentosum, salicylic acid, acibenzolar-S-methyl and fungicide. In the field trials, in 2015 and 2016, the development of the disease was lower and productivity was higher in all treatments, with emphasis on the fungicide. However, endophytic fungi suspensions demonstrated potential as growth promoters, disease severity reducers and protective antioxidant response activators, as they promoted significant increase in superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione and flavonoid enzymes.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo comparar diferentes metodologias de preparo do extrato de cinamomo (Melia azedarach L.), sobre o crescimento micelial e a esporulação de Elsinoe ampelina. Nos experimentos in vitro, foram testadas as concentrações de 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 e 50 mL.L-1 de extrato de cinamomo (1:10 m/v), além dos tratamentos padrões com calda bordalesa e mancozebe. Dessas metodologias, escolheu-se o extrato por infusão, para ser testado em condições de campo, avaliando sua ação sobre a severidade da antracnose da videira. Neste experimento utilizou-se as mesmas concentrações do ensaio in vitro com adição de óleo vegetal como adjuvante, além de uma testemunha absoluta e o padrão com calda bordalesa. O extrato que apresentou atividade antifúngica efetiva in vitro sobre E. ampelina foi o aquoso microfiltrado, conferindo um decréscimo do diâmetro da colônia de 82,2 a 99,4%, e da esporulação entre 77,6 e 100%, não diferindo dos tratamentos padrões. Em condições de campo, todas as concentrações do extrato por infusão apresentaram redução significativa da AACPD, não diferindo estatisticamente da calda bordalesa e do óleo vegetal. A redução da AACP da antracnose da videira variou de 51 a 56,3%

The objective of this study was to compare different preparing methods of chinaberry extract (Melia azedarach L.) on mycelial growth and sporulation of Elsinoe ampelina. For in vitro assay it was tested the concentrations of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 mL.L-1 of chinaberry aqueous extract (1:10 w/v) and the standard treatments with bordeaux mixture and mancozeb. From these methodologies, it was chosen the extract by infusion for experiments in field, where it was evaluated their action on the severity of grapevine anthracnose. In this experiment was used the same chinaberry concentrations of in vitro assay added to vegetable oil as adjuvant, besides a absolute control and standard treatment with bordeaux mixture. In the vitro assays, the methodology that presented an effective antimicrobial activity on E. ampelina was the aqueous microfiltered, giving a decrease in colony diameter from 82.2 to 99.4%, and sporulation from 77.6 to 100%, not differing from standard treatments with bordeaux mixture and mancozeb. In field conditions, all concentrations of chinaberry extracted by infusion showed a significant reduction on AACPD, that did not differ from the treatments with bordeaux mixture and vegetable oil. The reduction of AACP grapevine anthracnose ranged from 51 to 56.3%.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar o efeito do extrato de alho e do óleo vegetal no controle do míldio da videira cv. Isabel (Vitis labrusca). A severidade da doença, expressa pela área abaixo da curva de progresso da doença (AACPD), e a germinação de esporângios de seu agente causal Plasmopara viticola foram as variáveis avaliadas. Os tratamentos consistiram em 0; 5; 10; 15; 20; 25 ou 30 mL L-1 de extrato de alho adicionados de 2,5 mL L-1 óleo vegetal, calda bordalesa (1:1:100) e testemunha (sem tratamento). No teste de germinação, utilizou-se mancozebe (2 g L-1) como tratamento-padrão. Em condições de campo, observou-se redução da severidade do míldio com o óleo vegetal, sendo que o extrato de alho, a partir de 20 mL L-1, potencializou tal ação biocida. A germinação dos esporângios de P. viticola variou em função do tempo de exposição ao extrato de alho, não apresentando boa eficiência quando comparada ao tratamento com calda bordalesa e mancozebe. O óleo vegetal não influenciou na germinação dos esporângios desse patógeno.

The objective of this study was to verify the effect of garlic extract and vegetable oil in the control of downy mildew cv. Isabel (Vitis labrusca). Disease severity expressed as area under disease progress curve (AUDPC) and germination of the sporangia of its causal agent Plasmopara viticola were evaluated. The treatments tested consisted of 0; 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 mL L-1 of garlic extract added to 2.5 mL L-1 of vegetable oil, bordeaux mixture (1:1:100) and control. Mancozeb (2 g L-1) was used as a standard treatment in the germination test. In field conditions, there was reduction in severity of mildew with vegetable oil, and garlic extract from 20 mL L-1 potentiated such biocide action. The sporangium germination of P. viticola varied depending on the length of exposure to garlic extract, showing no efficient when compared to treatment with bordeaux mixture and mancozeb. Vegetable oil had no effect on sporangium germination of this pathogen.
