O texto tem como foco a questão da educação de adulto nos dias de hoje. Tem em vista oferecer elementos que contribuam para a formação de outrem ao considerar que todo formador precisa conhecer melhor o que foi formador em sua própria história de vida. Defende a idéia de que a construção biográfica tende a se tornar a finalidade principal da formação de adultos, mas é preciso buscar novos horizontes de construção biográfica, pois o curso da vida experimenta, em razão da ruptura de linearidade que tem caracterizado a maior parte dos percursos profissionais, novas tensões, mas também aberturas inusitadas. Nesse sentido, considera a pluralidade biográfica que caracteriza os contextos sociais da vida contemporânea. A instabilidade ambiente, a perda de referências culturais, a rapidez da emergência das novas tecnologias obrigam a uma espécie de reconversão das bases educativas nas quais se fundam as histórias de vida. O processo de formação torna-se uma longa busca de si em um mundo que demanda uma forte consistência pessoal para enfrentar os desafios que cada um deve encarar na sociedade atual. Essa experimentação existencial irá de certo surpreender, particularmente em contextos de conformidade social, porque ela favorecerá trajetórias insólitas e opções aparentemente contraditórias. Nós estaremos, em todo o caso, diante de confrontos entre gerações que, por causa de suas divergências biográficas, podem ter dificuldade de se reconhecer mutuamente. O relato biográfico educativo praticado no ensino universitário, em Genebra, fornece inúmeras ilustrações dos desafios biográficos enfrentados especialmente pelos profissionais da formação.

The focus of this text is the issue of adult education in our days. It aims at offering elements to contribute to form someone, by considering that every educator needs to know what was formative in his/her own life history. The text defends the idea that the biographical construction tends to become the main purpose of the education of adults, but that we have to seek new horizons of biographical construction, because the course of life has experienced, in consequence of the rupture of linearity that has characterized most professional paths, new tensions, but also unsuspected possibilities. In this sense, the article considers the biographical plurality that is a feature of the social contexts of contemporary life. The ambient instability, the loss of cultural references, the speed of emergence of new technologies, all force a kind of readaptation of the educative basis upon which life histories are founded. The process of formation then becomes a prolonged search for oneself in a world that demands a strong personal consistency to face the challenges posed to each person in today's society. Such existential experimentation will certainly bring surprises, particularly in contexts of social conformity. We shall be, at any rate, before a confrontation of generations which, by virtue of their biographical divergences, may have difficulty to recognize each other. The educative biographical report practiced at Geneva's higher education offers countless illustrations of the biographical challenges faced especially by the professionals of education.
