Resumo Introdução: Nonagenários constituem um percentual de pacientes internados em ascensão, sendo a injúria renal aguda (IRA) frequente nesses pacientes. Sendo assim, é importante analisar as características clínicas dessa população e seu impacto na mortalidade. Métodos: Estudo retrospectivo de pacientes nonagenários com IRA entre 2013 e 2022 em um hospital terciário. Apenas o último internamento foi considerado e pacientes com dados incompletos foram excluídos. Uma análise por regressão logística foi realizada para definir fatores de risco para mortalidade. Um valor de p < 0,05 foi considerado significativo. Resultados: Foram incluídos 150 pacientes com mediana de idade 93,0 anos (91,2–95,0) e sexo masculino em 42,7%. Sepse foi a causa mais comum de IRA (53,3%), seguida de desidratação/hipovolemia (17,7%) e insuficiência cardíaca (17,7%). Admissão na UTI ocorreu em 39,3% dos pacientes, ventilação mecânica em 14,7%, uso de vasopressores em 22,7% e realização de terapia renal substitutiva (TRS) em 6,7%. Óbito ocorreu em 56,7% dos pacientes. Desidratação/hipovolemia como etiologia da IRA foi associado a menor risco de mortalidade (OR 0,18; IC 95% 0,04–0,77, p = 0,020). Estágio KDIGO 3 (OR 3,15; IC 95% 1,17–8,47, p = 0,023), admissão na UTI (OR 12,27; IC 95% 3,03–49,74, p < 0,001) e oligúria (OR 5,77; IC 95% 1,98–16,85, p = 0,001) foram associados à mortalidade. Abstract Introduction: Nonagenarians constitute a rising percentage of inpatients, with acute kidney injury (AKI) being frequent in this population. Thus, it is important to analyze the clinical characteristics of this demographic and their impact on mortality. Methods: Retrospective study of nonagenarian patients with AKI at a tertiary hospital between 2013 and 2022. Only the latest hospital admission was considered, and patients with incomplete data were excluded. A logistic regression analysis was conducted to define risk factors for mortality. A p-value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: A total of 150 patients were included, with a median age of 93.0 years (91.2–95.0), and males accounting for 42.7% of the sample. Sepsis was the most common cause of AKI (53.3%), followed by dehydration/hypovolemia (17.7%), and heart failure (17.7%). ICU admission occurred in 39.3% of patients, mechanical ventilation in 14.7%, vasopressors use in 22.7% and renal replacement therapy (RRT) in 6.7%. Death occurred in 56.7% of patients. Dehydration/hypovolemia as an etiology of AKI was associated with a lower risk of mortality (OR 0.18; 95% CI 0.04–0.77, p = 0.020). ABSTRACT Introduction: São Paulo State University (Unesp) implemented the quota system (affirmative action) for first-year students in 2014, through the vacancy reservation system for students from public schools. The main caveats regarding the quota system concern the difficulties these students have in adapting to the university academic environment, which could interfere with their performance during undergraduate school. Therefore, it is necessary to know about the performance of these students to propose viable alternatives for their needs. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the academic performance through the academic performance coefficient (APC) of undergraduate students of the medical course at the Botucatu School of Medicine - Unesp (BSM) according to the type of university admission process. Methods: the final APC of students who completed the medical course in the years 2019, 2020, and 2021 were evaluated. The data were obtained from the Undergraduate Section of BSM. Comparisons were made of APC means between groups (universal admission - UA and affirmative action - AA). Results: In the period from 2019 to 2021, 252 students graduated, 184 from UA (73%) and 68 (27%) from AA. The general average of the APC was 8.41 + 0.61. The APC averages of the UA students were 8.45 + 0.61 and the AA averages were 8.31 + 0.60 (p = 0.414). RESUMO Introdução: A Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) implantou o sistema de cotas (ações afirmativas) para ingressantes em 2014, por meio do sistema de reserva de vagas destinada a alunos oriundos de escolas públicas. As principais ressalvas quanto ao sistema de cotas dizem respeito às dificuldades de adaptação desses alunos ao meio acadêmico universitário, que poderiam interferir em seu desempenho durante a graduação. Por isso, é necessário conhecer o desempenho desses alunos para poder propor alternativas viáveis para suas necessidades. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o desempenho acadêmico pelo coeficiente de rendimento (CR) escolar dos egressos do curso de Medicina da Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu (FMB) da Unesp segundo forma de ingresso no vestibular. Método: Foram avaliados os CR finais dos alunos que finalizaram o curso de Medicina nos anos de 2019, 2020 e 2021. Os dados foram obtidos na Seção de Graduação da FMB. Realizaram-se comparações das médias do CR entre os grupos (ingresso universal - IU e ação afirmativa - AA). RESUMEN El artículo tiene como objetivo desarrollar y validar una escala de medición de la participación política. A través de una revisión sistemática, se elaboró un instrumento de medición basado en la observación de que las medidas utilizadas no abarcan las diversas dimensiones del constructo. El instrumento fue evaluado inicialmente por expertos y posteriormente probado y validado utilizando datos de dos muestras distintas recopiladas en Mozambique. Los datos de la primera muestra se utilizaron para realizar un Análisis Factorial Exploratorio - AFE, mientras que los datos de la segunda muestra se emplearon para llevar a cabo un Análisis Factorial Confirmatorio - AFC y validar la escala. El AFC confirmó la plausibilidad de cinco factores: actividad de campaña; votación; contacto; engajamento cívico; y protesta, al mismo tiempo que presentaba excelentes índices de ajuste. La escala demostró validez convergente, validez discriminante y una sólida consistencia interna en los cinco factores. ABSTRACT The article aims to develop and validate a political participation measurement scale. Through a systematic review, a measurement tool was developed based on the observation that existing measures do not encompass the various dimensions of the construct. The instrument underwent initial evaluation by experts and was subsequently tested and validated using data from two distinct samples collected in Mozambique. The data from the first sample were employed to conduct an Exploratory Factor Analysis - EFA, while the data from the second sample were utilized to perform a Confirmatory Factor Analysis - CFA and validate the scale. The CFA confirmed the plausibility of five factors: campaign activity; voting, contact; civic engagement; and protest, while also exhibiting excellent fit indices. The scale demonstrated convergent validity, discriminant validity, and strong internal consistency across the five factors. The developed and validated measurement model comprises 27 indicators of political participation, applicable in any geographical context. ABSTRACT Purpose to analyze the association between social communication functionality in children with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) according to sociodemographic aspects, communicative acts, severity of ASD and family perception. Methods this is the pilot stage of a cross-sectional analytical observational study. Children with ASD were evaluated and their caregivers were interviewed. The variables analyzed were ASD severity, socioeconomic aspects, communicative acts, communicative difficulties and the classification of functionality of social communication. For association analyses, the Pearson and Kruskal-Wallis chi-square tests were used. Results Sixteen children aged between 3 and 10 years were evaluated. The participants included in the study presented median levels of social communication functionality. The children with the greatest social communication difficulties were the ones caregivers had the impression other people made fun of . There was no association regarding communication functionality and socioeconomic aspects, ASD severity and communicative acts per minute. Conclusion This study triangulates the communication functionality of children with ASD with environmental and social factors. Children with ASD in outpatient care at a specialized service showed intermediate levels of social communication. Difficulties in acceptance and social inclusion are more commonly observed in children with ASD with greater communication deficits. RESUMO Objetivo analisar a associação entre funcionalidade da comunicação social de crianças com transtorno do espectro do autismo (TEA) segundo aspectos sociodemográficos, atos comunicativos, gravidade do TEA e percepção da família. Métodos trata-se da etapa piloto de um estudo observacional analítico de recorte transversal. Crianças com TEA foram avaliadas e seus cuidadores foram entrevistados. As variáveis analisadas foram: gravidade do TEA, aspectos socioeconômicos, atos comunicativos, dificuldades comunicativas e a classificação de funcionalidade da comunicação social. Para as análises de associação foram utilizados os testes Qui-quadrado de Pearson e Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados foram avaliadas 16 crianças com idade entre 3 e 10 anos. Os participantes incluídos no estudo apresentaram níveis medianos de funcionalidade da comunicação social. As crianças com mais dificuldades na comunicação social foram as que os cuidadores afirmaram ter a impressão de que as pessoas zombavam delas. Não houve associação em relação à funcionalidade da comunicação e aspectos socioeconômicos, gravidade do TEA e atos comunicativos por minuto. Conclusão este estudo faz a triangulação entre a funcionalidade da comunicação de crianças com TEA com fatores ambientais e sociais. Abstract This study investigated injuries sustained by Pimelodus maculatus caused by transient operating conditions in a Brazilian hydroelectric power plant. Fish (n = 43) that inhabited the tailrace and appeared on the water surface after changes in the operating conditions were evaluated (IF). Additionally, fish (n = 10) captured using longline in the vicinity of the tailrace were used for comparisons (NF). Blood samples were evaluated for cortisol, glucose, and lactate concentrations. Tissue samples (gill, liver, brain, and muscle) were analyzed for oxidative stress biomarkers (TBARS, protein carbonyl content, and catalase activity) and histology (gill, liver, and spleen). The most prominent findings in IF were barotraumas with intra-abdominal hemorrhage and swim bladder rupture. Cortisol and glucose concentrations were lower for IF when compared to NF. IF also suffered from oxidative stress, as indicated by increased TBARS in the liver and brain, as well as increased protein carbonyl content in the gills and liver. The main histological alterations induced by the adverse conditions were circulatory disorders, such as telangiectasia and gill aneurysm, hepatic congested veins, and hemorrhage in the liver and spleen. Resumo Este estudo investigou os efeitos induzidos por condições transitórias de operação em uma usina hidrelétrica brasileira em Pimelodus maculatus. Peixes (n = 43) no canal de fuga que apareceram na superfície da água após mudanças nas condições operacionais foram avaliados. Adicionalmente, peixes (n = 10) capturados a jusante da barragem com espinhel foram utilizados para comparações (NF). Amostras de sangue foram avaliadas para as concentrações de cortisol, glicose e lactato. Abstract Continuous development, improvement and innovation of ballistic material systems with superior energy absorption performance has been the subject of numerous works nowadays. Some research has been carried out with the objective of replacing traditional metallic and ceramic materials and composites with high-performance polymeric composites. Due to their excellent properties, multi-scale polymer composites have been used in the most varied segments of the industry, being recently researched in applications such as ballistic materials. This work promotes the combination of high-strength three-dimensional woven aramid fiber fabrics with vinyl ester resin to produce a panel through the compression molding process. The resin was reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets (0.1, 0.2 and 0.3% wt). The impact, tensile and flexural strength were evaluated, along with dynamic-mechanical analysis by DMA and by Hopkinson split bar test, indicating a trend of better performance for the composite containing 0.1% of graphene nanoplatelets.

Resumo A luxação isolada do pisiforme é uma lesão rara com poucos casos descritos na literatura. Esse tipo de lesão é observado tipicamente em adultos jovens do sexo masculino e pode ser facilmente negligenciada numa primeira avaliação. A luxação proximal isolada é mais comum devido à ação do flexor ulnar do carpo (FUC). Apresentamos o caso de um paciente do sexo masculino, com 19 anos de idade, com luxação distal isolada do pisiforme após traumatismo do punho. O paciente foi submetido a uma redução aberta e fixação interna com fios de Kirschner com excelente resultado funcional. Apesar de não existir um método de tratamento consensual, a redução fechada perfila-se como tratamento de primeira linha na apresentação aguda. Em caso de insucesso ou como método alternativo pode-se optar pela redução aberta ou a excisão do pisiforme.

Abstract Isolated pisiform dislocation is a rare lesion with few cases described in the literature. This type of lesion is typically observed in young males and can be easily overlooked at first assessment. Isolated proximal dislocation is more common due to the action of the flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) muscle. We present the case of a 19-year-old male patient with isolated distal pisiform dislocation after wrist trauma. He underwent open reduction and internal fixation with Kirschner wires with excellent functional outcomes. Although there is no consensual therapeutic method, closed reduction is a first-line treatment for acute presentations. Pisiform open reduction or excision may be performed alternatively or after a failed closed reduction.

Resumo Objetivo: Avaliar a influência do tipo de cimento na resistência à fratura de coroas de recobrimento total de resina nanocerâmica cimentadas sobre preparações com margens knife-edge. Métodos: Um dente tipodonte pré-molar inferior direito foi preparado com uma redução axial de 1.5 mm, redução oclusal de 2.0 mm e uma margem vertical do tipo knife-edge. A partir da leitura digital da preparação, foi desenhada uma coroa anatómica em software CAD/CAM. Seguidamente, foram fresadas 20 coroas a partir de blocos CAD/CAM de resina nanocerâmica (Cerasmart270™) e uma réplica da preparação dentária em liga de crómio-cobalto. As 20 coroas foram divididas aleatoriamente em 2 grupos. No grupo 1 foram cimentadas com cimento de resina auto-adesivo (G-CEM LinkAce™) e no grupo 2 com cimento de ionómero de vidro modificado por resina (FujiCEM™ 2). Posteriormente, foram sujeitas a teste de resistência numa máquina de testes universal Instron até ocorrer fratura. Os resultados obtidos foram analisados utilizando o teste paramétrico t de Student (α=0.05). Resultados: O tipo de cimento utilizado demonstrou ter um efeito estatisticamente significativo na resistência à fratura das coroas (p<0.001). O grupo 1 apresentou uma média de 1284.3±340.19 Newtons, bastante superior à média registada no grupo 2, de 417.9±106.35 Newtons, verificando-se um aumento de 207.3% da resistência à fratura. Conclusões: As coroas de resina nanocerâmica cimentadas com cimento de resina auto-adesivo apresentaram resistência à fratura consideravelmente maior do que as cimentadas com cimento de ionómero de vidro modificado por resina.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the influence of the type of cement on the fracture resistance of full-contour resin nanoceramic crowns cemented over preparations with knife-edge margins. Methods: A right lower premolar typodont model was prepared with a 1.5-mm axial reduction, a 2.0-mm occlusal reduction, and a knife-edge vertical margin. An anatomical crown was designed from the digital scanning of the preparation using CAD/CAM software. Then, 20 crowns were milled from resin nanoceramic CAD/CAM blocks (Cerasmart270™) as well as a replica of the dental preparation in a cobalt-chrome alloy. Group 1 crowns were cemented with self-adhesive resin cement (G-CEM LinkAce™) and group 2 crowns with resin-modified glass ionomer cement (FujiCEM™ 2). Subsequently, they were subjected to a loading test on an Instron universal testing machine until fracture occurred. The data were statistically analyzed using the parametric Student’s t-test (α=0.05). Results: The type of cement was shown to have a statistically significant effect on the crowns’ fracture resistance (p <0.001). Group 1 presented a mean of 1284.3±340.19 Newtons, much higher than the mean recorded in group 2, of 417.9±106.35 Newtons, with an increase of 207.3% in the fracture resistance after self-adhesive luting. Conclusions: Resin nanoceramic crowns cemented with self-adhesive resin cement showed considerably higher fracture resistance than those cemented with resin-modified glass ionomer cement.

Resumo Objetivo Avaliação clínica e funcional do tratamento cirúrgico da lesão crônica do bíceps braquial distal, por aplicação de técnica cirúrgica com enxerto de tendão do tríceps braquial distal. Métodos Estudo baseado em revisão de prontuários e avaliação clínica de pacientes com lesão crônica da inserção distal do bíceps braquial submetidos a tratamento cirúrgico entre fevereiro de 2015 e fevereiro de 2017. Durante o acompanhamento pós-operatório mínimo de 12 meses, 7 pacientes foram avaliados quanto à amplitude de movimento dos cotovelos operado e não operado, à força de flexão, à extensão e supinação dos membros superiores, determinadas com dinamômetro digital, ao teste do gancho, ao índice de satisfação, e às escalas Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) e Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS). Resultados À avaliação funcional pós-operatória, nenhum paciente relatou insatisfação com o aspecto estético das incisões; todos ficaram satisfeitos/muito satisfeitos com a amplitude de movimento e a força do membro operado. Complicações neurovasculares, infecção de sítio cirúrgico, ou ruptura de tendão não foram observadas. Nas escalas MEPS e DASH, todos os pacientes apresentaram pontuações iguais a 100 e 0, respectivamente. A flexão média foi de 133,5° no lado operado, contra 139,2° no lado não operado. A extensão média foi de 5° no lado operado, contra 0° no lado não operado. A supinação foi de 86,5° contra 90°, e a pronação foi de 80° contra 80°, ao se comparar os lados operado e não operado, respectivamente. As forças médias de flexão, extensão e supinação corresponderam, respectivamente, a 92,5%, 96,4%, e 86,8% das forças do membro não operado. Conclusão A reconstrução do bíceps braquial distal com enxerto de tríceps parece ser uma opção eficaz e segura para o tratamento de lesões crônicas do bíceps distal.

Abstract Objective Clinical and functional evaluation of the surgical treatment for chronic injury of the distal biceps brachii applying a surgical technique with grafting of the distal triceps brachii tendon. Methods A study based on a review of the medical records and clinical evaluation of the patients submitted to surgical treatment for chronic injury to the distal insertion of the biceps brachii between February 2015 and February 2017. In a 12-month-minimum postoperative follow-up, 7 patients were evaluated regarding the range of motion of the operated and non-operated elbows, flexion, upper-limb extension and supination with a digital dynamometer, the hook test, the satisfaction index, and the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) and Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS) intruments. Results During the postoperative functional evaluation, no patient reported dissatisfaction with the esthetic outcome of the incisions, and all of them were satisfied/very satisfied with the range of motion and strength of the operated limb. No neurovascular complications, surgical site infection or tendon rupture were observed. On the MEPS and DASH scales, all patients scored 100 and 0 respectively. The mean flexion was of 133.5° on the operated side, versus 139.2° on the non-operated side. The mean extension was of 5° on the operated side versus 0° on the non-operated side. The supination was of 86.5° versus 90°, and the pronation, 80° versus 80°, when comparing the operated and non-operated sides respectively. The mean flexion, extension and supination corresponded respectively to 92.5%, 96.4% and 86.8% of those of the nonoperated limb. Conclusion Recosntruction of the distal biceps brachii with triceps grafting seems to be an effective and safe option for the treatment of chronic distal biceps injuries.

ABSTRACT: The sampling methods for soil and plant evaluation in integrated production systems need to be refined for their use in experiments. This study purposed a sampling representativeness model to evaluate soil carbon and physiological parameters of marandu palisadegrass intercropped with double rows of eucalyptus in a silvopastoral system in southeastern Brazil. Four transects were delimited within the silvopastoral system and the soil was sampled at 0-5, 5-10, and 10-20 cm depths to evaluate two parameters of soil organic matter: total organic carbon (TOC) and soil microbial carbon (Cmic). We also evaluated three physiological parameters of marandu palisadegrass: stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, and photosynthetic rate. The sampling strategy was evaluated by the Hatheway and Modified Maximum Curvature (MMC) methods. We found that cultivation of the alley with forage grass and double rows of eucalyptus must be considered to ensure sampling representativeness in a silvopastoral system, once TOC and Cmic and physiological parameters showed variation within the integrated production system. The MMC method could be useful to evaluate silvopastoral systems for experiments and characterization of agricultural areas, as 11 soil samples are representative to evaluate Cmic and TOC, and 13 samples are enough to evaluate the physiological parameters in marandu palisadegrass. The Hatheway method could be applied to experiments that need higher accuracy with a reduction in the minimum difference to be detected between the treatments and a consequent increase in the number of samples to be collected.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a consistência de respostas entre avaliadores e verificar a usabilidade da Escala de Percepção e Análise da Fluência Leitora - SOLAR. Métodos: estudo descritivo não experimental de corte transversal. Participaram como juízes professores do Ensino Fundamental e acadêmicos de Fonoaudiologia e Pedagogia. Os juízes utilizaram como instrumento a Escala SOLAR para a análise de fluência leitora de áudios de 20 estudantes do Ensino Fundamental. A comparação da usabilidade foi realizada por meio do teste Kruskal Wallis e comparação dois a dois pelo teste Mann Whitney. Para análise da consistência de respostas entre juízes foi utilizado o cálculo do coeficiente de correlação interclasse. O nível de significância utilizado foi de 5%. Resultados: a análise da fidedignidade das respostas demonstrou coeficiente de correlação intraclasse excelente para todas as habilidades da escala. Quanto à usabilidade do instrumento, mais de 80% dos participantes o avaliaram positivamente. Verificou-se, por meio dos questionários de usabilidade, que é uma escala de fácil uso, com orientações claras, os seus usuários se sentem confortáveis e confiantes em utilizá-la. Conclusão: a SOLAR obteve bons indicadores de fidedignidade e consistência, com excelente concordância entre os avaliadores. Tais resultados indicam confiabilidade satisfatória dos itens e avaliações qualitativas favoráveis dos usuários.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the consistency of responses of evaluators and to verify the usability of the perception and analysis of SOLAR (Science of Language and Reading) Methods: a non-experimental descriptive cross-sectional study. Elementary school teachers and undergraduate students of speech therapy and pedagogy participated as the judges. The judges used the SOLAR Scale as an instrument to analyze the reading fluency of twenty audios recorded by elementary school students. Usability comparisons were performed using the Kruskal Wallis test and two-by-two comparisons using the Mann Whitney test. To analyze the consistency of the responses between the judges, the calculation of the interclass correlation coefficient was used. Results: the analysis of the reliability of the answers showed an excellent intraclass correlation coefficient for all the skills of the Scale. As for the usability of the Scale, more than 80% of the participants positively evaluated the assessment. This was verified through the usability questionnaires which confirmed that it was easy to use, with clear guidelines and that users felt comfortable and confident using it. Conclusion: SOLAR obtained good results in reliability and consistency with excellent agreement between the evaluators. These results indicated satisfactory reliability of the SOLAR items and favorable qualitative ratings from users.

RESUMO O perfil dos compostos bioativos em bebidas café depende das espécies e variedades de café, métodos de plantio e processamento pós-colheita, processo de torra e também do método de preparação da bebida. O trabalho teve como objetivo estudar os teores de caveol e cafestol - diterpenos do café com efeitos conhecidos a saúde - comparando bebidas de café preparadas usando métodos usuais de preparo (filtrada, espresso e café solúvel). As bebidas filtradas (pano ou papel), espresso e café solúvel foram obtidas de grãos com torra média da espécie Coffea arabica (tipo 2). Cinco repetições genuínas de cada bebida foram preparadas e os extratos foram liofilizados. Os diterpenos foram quantificados por CLUE. Os resultados foram relatados em mg de diterpeno por g de sólidos ou por dose padrão de 50 mL. O teor de sólidos das bebidas de café variou de 2,06 a 2,46 g 100 mL-1. Todas as bebidas apresentaram baixo teor de diterpenos: 0,05 a 0,16 mg de kahweol e 0,11 a 0,14 mg de cafestol 50 mL-1. A bebida instantânea mostrou o menor teor de kahweol e ausência de cafestol, redução relacionada ao processo de produção de café solúvel. O teor de diterpenos foi semelhante em cafés espresso e filtrados em papel. O café filtrado em pano apresentou menor teor de sólidos, mas níveis mais elevados de diterpenos (em mg g-1 de sólidos). Teores similares de cafestol e kahweol (mg 50 mL-1) foram observados nas bebidas filtradas e no espresso.

ABSTRACT The profile of bioactive compounds in coffee brews depends on the coffee bean species and varieties, harvesting and post-harvesting practices, roasting processes, and also on the brewing method. The present research aimed to study the contents of cafestol and kahweol - coffee diterpenes with a known impact on human health - comparing coffee beverages prepared using common brewing methods (filtered, espresso, and instant coffee brews). Filtered (cloth-filtered and paper-filtered), espresso and instant brews were obtained from a medium-roasted Coffea arabica coffee (NY 2). Five genuine replicates of each coffee brew were prepared, and the extracts were lyophilized. A validated UPLC-based method provided the content of diterpenes. The results were reported in mg of diterpene per g of solids or per a standard dose of 50 mL of coffee brew. Solids content of coffee brews ranged from 2.06 to 2.46 g 100 mL-1. All coffee brews presented low diterpene contents: 0.05 to 0.16 mg of kahweol and 0.11 to 0.14 mg of cafestol 50 mL-1. Instant coffee brew showed the lowest content of kahweol and absence of cafestol; this reduction was related to the production process of soluble coffee. Diterpenes content was similar in espresso and paper-filtered brews. The cloth-filtered coffee had lower solids content, but higher levels of diterpenes (in mg g-1 of solids). Similar cafestol and kahweol contents (mg 50 mL-1) were observed in filtered and espresso brews.
