ABSTRACT: The soybean looper (SBL), Chrysodeixis includens (Walker, [1858]) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is a soybean and cotton pest in South America countries. Field-evolved resistance of SBL to inhibitors of chitin biosynthesis has been reported in Brazil; however, this mode of action is still widely used against SBL. On this basis, we conducted laboratory bioassays to investigate if adjuvants (Nimbus®, TA 35®, Break-Thru® S 240, and Rizospray Extremo®) added to the teflubenzuron spray increase the mortality of SBL strains (resistant, heterozygous, and susceptible to chitin biosynthesis inhibitors). Using chromatography analysis, we also evaluated the amount of teflubenzuron on soybean leaves when applied alone or in combination with adjuvants. In laboratory bioassays, the biological activity of teflubenzuron increased against the susceptible SBL strain when adjuvants were added. In contrast, no relevant effects of adjuvants added to the teflubenzuron spray against heterozygous and resistant SBL larvae were detected. In leaf bioassays, even leaves from the upper third part of the plants containing a significantly higher amount of teflubenzuron (3.4 mg/kg vs 1.7 and 0.6 mg/kg); the mortality of SBL strains was similar when teflubenzuron was applied alone or in mixture with adjuvants. Our findings indicated that adjuvants added to teflubenzuron spray do not provide a substantial increase in the mortality of SBL strains resistant to chitin biosynthesis inhibitors. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the use of this mode-of-action insecticide against SBL and to give preference to other insecticides or control tactic. RESUMO: A lagarta falsa-medideira, Chrysodeixis includens (Walker, [1858]) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), é uma praga da soja e do algodão nos países da América do Sul. A resistência de C. includens a inibidores da biossíntese de quitina tem sido relatada no Brasil. Entretanto, esse modo de ação ainda é amplamente utilizado para controle de C. includens. Com base nisso, conduzimos bioensaios em laboratório para investigar se adjuvantes (Nimbus®, TA 35®, Break-Thru® S 240 e Rizospray Extremo®) adicionados à calda inseticida de teflubenzuron aumentam a mortalidade de linhagens de C. includens (resistentes, heterozigotos e suscetíveis a inibidores da biossíntese de quitina). Usando análise cromatográfica, também avaliamos a quantidade de teflubenzuron em folhas de soja quando aplicado isolado ou em combinação com adjuvantes. Em bioensaios de laboratório, a atividade biológica do teflubenzuron aumentou para a linhagem suscetível quando os adjuvantes foram adicionados à calda inseticida. RESUMO Objetivo: Caracterizar a situação de aleitamento materno e da adequação de prescrição de fórmulas infantis a lactentes assistidos por um programa de Atenção Secundária do Sistema Único de Saúde. Métodos: Trata-se de estudo transversal pela análise de prontuários de 350 lactentes de zero a 6 meses, acompanhados entre fevereiro a abril de 2019. Resultados: A possibilidade de aleitamento materno esteve presente em 97,0% das mães, e nenhum lactente apresentou condição médica aceitável para a proscrição do aleitamento materno. Apesar disso, apenas 47,2% dos casos estavam em aleitamento materno exclusivo antes do encaminhamento ao programa. Em relação aos motivos da introdução das fórmulas infantis, a complementação ao leite materno foi o mais presente (75,8%), seguido da volta da mãe ao mercado de trabalho (20,1%). As taxas gerais de inadequação dentre os prescritos foram de 65% antes da chegada ao programa, passando para 69% (fórmulas padrão) e 80% (fórmulas para fins especiais) durante o acompanhamento. Conclusão: A baixa taxa de aleitamento materno exclusivo e a prescrição indiscriminada de fórmulas infantis são preocupantes por causar prejuízos à saúde maternoinfantil e financeira do Sistema Único de Saúde.

ABSTRACT Objective: To characterize the situation of breastfeeding and the adequacy of prescription of infant formulas to infants assisted by a secondary care program of the Public Health System. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with analysis of medical records of 350 infants from zero to 6 months, followed up between February to April 2019. Results: The possibility of breastfeeding was present in 97.0% of mothers and no infant presented an acceptable medical condition for proscription of breastfeeding. Despite this, only 47.2% of cases were on exclusive breastfeeding before being referred to the program. Regarding the reasons for the introduction of infant formulas, complementation to breast milk was the most present (75.8%), followed by mothers returning to the job market (20.1%). The general rates of inadequacy of those prescribed were 65% before arriving at the program, increasing to 69% (standard formulas) and 80% (formulas for special purposes) during follow-up. Conclusion: The low rate of exclusive breastfeeding and the indiscriminate prescription of infant formulas are a concern for damage to maternal-child healthcare and sound finances of the Public Health System.

RESUMO Objetivo: estudar a dinâmica do comportamento do esôfago humano quando afetado por doença de Chagas e propor um controlador orgânico para auxiliar no aperistaltismo do órgão. Métodos: um modelo de massa, mola e amortecedor foi proposto para modelar o deslocamento do bolo alimentar no esôfago durante a ação peristáltica. Foram utilizados parâmetros da literatura para simular o megaesôfago chagásico e o saudável. Resultados: foram analisadas as curvas de velocidade e deslocamento de ambos os modelos e identificou-se as diferenças dinâmicas entre o órgão saudável e um doente. O deslocamento de alimentos em um tipo de Chagas megaesófago II (3 centímetros de dilatação) é apenas 11,84% do deslocamento num esófago saudável. Conclusão: a doença de chagas gera uma velocidade próxima de zero e um alto amortecimento na curva de descida do alimento que devido ao peristaltismo o deslocamento que não pode retornar ao seu estado inicial, o que comprova a retenção do bolo alimentar. Com o sistema de controle orgânico proposto obteve-se uma aproximação das curvas a um comportamento dinâmico próximo do modelo do órgão saudável, minimizando a retenção do alimento.

ABSTRACT Objective: to study the dynamics of the human esophagus behavior when affected by Chagas disease. Methods: a mass-spring-damper model was proposed to model the food through the esophagus during peristaltic action. After that, parameters were recalculated to simulate a chagasic megaesophagus. Results: the velocity and displacement curves from both models were analyzed and the dynamic differences between the healthy organ and the ill one, identified. According to the results obtained, the food displacement in a chagasic megaesophagus type II (3 centimeters dilated) is just 11.84% of the displacement in a healthy esophagus. Conclusion: Chagas disease generates a velocity close to zero and a high dampering in the downwards curve of the bolus whose displacement cannot return to its initial state, due to aperistalses, which proves the food bolus retention. With the introduction of the proposed organic control system, an approximation of the curves that remained with dynamic behavior close to the model of the healthy organ was obtained, minimizing the retention of the food.

O glifosato é o herbicida de maior participação no mercado mundial, sendo utilizado intensivamente na agricultura há mais de 30 anos, principalmente devido ao custo relativamente baixo e à alta eficiência sobre diferentes espécies. Descreve-se um método para a síntese do glifosato na forma do sal isopropilamina enriquecido no isótopo estável do nitrogênio (15N). A síntese do herbicida-15N foi realizada utilizando-se da reação de fosfometilação com diaquil fosfito e glicina-15N. Os testes foram realizados em microescala e em quantidades equimolares. Foi possível obter um rendimento de 20%. Para testar a eficiência do glifosato sintetizado, realizou-se experimento em câmara de crescimento com a planta daninha Lolium multiflorum (azevém), a qual é eficazmente controlada segundo à bula dos produtos a base do sal de isopropilamina (glifosato). O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições, sendo os tratamentos provenientes de fontes de sal de isopropilamina na dose comercial recomendada do produto (720 g i.a. ha-1). Avaliou-se a produção de fitomassa fresca e seca, da parte aérea e radicular, aos 21 dias após a aplicação (DAA), e a toxicidade dos tratamentos aos 7, 14 e 21 DAA. As fontes de sal de isopropilamina empregados não diferiram, o que deverá permitir sua utilização como traçador isotópico.

Glyphosate is the herbicide with the greatest participation in the world market, and it has been used intensively in agriculture for over 30 years, especially because of its relatively low cost and high effectiveness on different species. This study describes a synthesis method of glyphosate in the form of the isopropylamine salt enriched in the stable nitrogen isotope (15N). The 15N-herbicide synthesis was performed using a phosphomethylation reaction with dialkyl phosphite and 15N-glycine. The tests were conducted at a microscale and equimolar quantities. A 20% yield was obtained at the established conditions. To test the effectiveness of the synthesized glyphosate, an experiment was performed in a growth chamber with the weed Lolium multiflorum (ryegrass), which is mentioned to be effectively controlled as indicated in package inserts ofisopropylamine salt-based products (glyphosate). The experimental design was completely randomized, with four replicates, and treatments consisted of isopropylamine salt sources at the commercial dose recommended for the product (720 g a.i. ha-1). The production of green and dry phytomass of the above-ground part and roots was evaluated 21 days after application (DAA), and the treatment toxicity was evaluated 7, 14, and 21 DAA. The isopropylamine salt sources did not differ, recognizing them as useful isotopic tracers.

O presente trabalho apresenta uma análise crítica da 'economia solidária' tanto nos seus fundamentos teóricos como na sua implementação prática. O artigo apresenta dois claros focos de análise: um primeiro que explicita os fundamentos históricos e teóricos da economia solidária e que são localizados no socialismo moderno. Este entendimento, porém, não leva a afirmar, como muitos teóricos o fazem, que a economia solidária é o caminho contemporâneo ao socialismo. Em segundo lugar, e na continuidade, busca-se apresentar que a construção e a propagação dessa falsa consciência não encontram seus alicerces em mudanças de fundo no modo de produção capitalista, ao contrário, verifica-se uma re-atualização. Para tanto, as análises apresentadas tem como interlocutor privilegiado o militante e teórico Paul Singer, que atualmente é quem dá o tom do debate sobre o tema no Brasil.

This study presents a critical analysis of 'solidarity economics', regarding both its theoretical foundations as well as its practical implementation. The article has two focuses: the first explains the historic and theoretical foundations of solidarity economics located in modern socialism. This understanding, however, does not lead to the affirmation, as many have made, that solidarity economics is the contemporary road to socialism. Second, the paper maintains that the construction and propagation of this false consciousness is not based on deep changes in the capitalist mode of production. To the contrary, the renovation of this system is recognized. The analyses consider the work in this field of activist and scholar Paul Singer, who currently sets the tone of the debate concerning this issue in Brazil.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi o de estudar o efeito de duas formas de congelamento na avaliação da força de rotura de cicatrizes da parede abdominal de ratos. Foram utilizados 30 ratos machos Wistar, submetidos a laparotomia com técnica de diérese padronizada, distribuidos em 3 grupos com 10 ratos cada. No 14<FONT FACE="Symbol">°</FONT> dia de pós-operatório foram submetidos a eutanásia os ratos de dois grupos que tiveram segmentos músculo-fasciais da parede abdominal envolvendo a cicatriz cirúrgica, conservados em congelador a dezessete graus Célsius negativos (-17<FONT FACE="Symbol">°</FONT> C) ou em anidrido carbônico a oitenta graus célsius negativos (-80<FONT FACE="Symbol">°</FONT> C) por 20 dias antes de terem sidos submetidos a análise da força de rotura da cicatriz em um tensiômetro. O terceiro grupo (controle) foi submetido a eutanásia e imediatamente avaliado quanto a força de rotura. Os resultados encontrados foram analisados estatísticamente. Concluiu-se que as duas formas de congelamento não interferem na avaliação da força de rotura de cicatrizes da parede abdominal de ratos.

The purpose of the experiment was to study the effect of two ways of freezing on the valuation of the breaking strenght on rats’abdominal wall scars. It was used 30 male rats wistar to realize laparotomies with a standardized technique distributed in 3 groups of 10 rats. In the 14th postoperative day, rats of two groups were submitted to euthanasia and the front abdominal wall was removed (without skin) involving the scar, and those segments were stored in a freezer (-17<FONT FACE="Symbol">°</FONT> C) or in carbonic anidrid (-80<FONT FACE="Symbol">°</FONT> C) for 20 days before tested in a tensiometer. The third group (control) were subimitted to euthanasia and imidiately tested the breaking strenght . The resultant data were submitted to statistical analysis. It was concluded that the two ways of freezing don’t do interferences on the valuation of breking strengh on rat’s abdominal wall scars.
