Resumo A propagação seminífera de maracujá azedo (Passiflora edulis Sims) é o principal tipo de multiplicação devido à facilidade na formação de mudas. No entanto, o reduzido número de cultivares produtivas e homogêneas reflete a necessidade de melhoramento genético. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos maternos e recíprocos no vigor e na germinação de sementes de maracujá. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, no esquema fatorial, com duas estruturas genéticas (híbrido e recíproco) e dez cruzamentos, com quatro repetições (50 sementes), em bandejas contendo areia inerte na câmara de germinação. Antes da semeadura, foi obtido o peso de 100 sementes, e aos 28 dias, foram avaliados a porcentagem de germinação, o índice de velocidade de emergência, comprimento total de plântulas, comprimento de parte aérea e raiz principal, número de plântulas normais e massa seca por plântulas. Os efeitos recíprocos dizem qual genótipo é mais promissor quando usado como genitor feminino ou masculino para a característica estudada. Pode-se inferir que há efeito materno influenciando o peso de 100 sementes, a emergência, o índice de velocidade de emergência e o número de mudas normais. Houve influência dos pais na expressão de caracteres em sementes de maracujá azedo. É importante definir os pais paterno e materno para obter sementes com alto potencial de germinação.

Abstract The seminiferous propagation of Sour Passion Fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims) is the main kind of multiplication due to the ease formation of seedlings. However, the reduced number of productive and homogeneous cultivars reflects the need for genetic breeding. The objective of this study was to assess the maternal and reciprocal effects in vigor and germination of Sour Passion Fruit seeds. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design in the factorial scheme, with two structure (hybrid and reciprocal) and ten crosses with four replicates (50 seeds) in trays containing inert sand in germination chamber. Before sowing, it was obtained the weight of 100 seeds, and at 28 days germination percentage, emergence speed index, total seedlings length, shoot length and main root length, number of normal seedlings and dry mass per seedlings were evaluated. The reciprocal effects tell us which genotype is most promising when used as the female or male parent for the trait studied. It can be inferred that there is maternal effect influencing the weight of 100 seeds, emergence, emergence speed index and the number of normal seedlings. There was influence of the parent on the expression of traits in seeds of Sour Passion Fruit. It is important to define the paternal and maternal parent to obtain seeds with high germination potential.

Resumo: Características relacionadas à qualidade de sementes tem sido pouco utilizada em estudos sobre diversidade genética em maracujazeiro. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a diversidade genética entre progênies constituídas por híbridos e recíprocos com base em características de emergência e vigor das sementes. Foram avaliadas: porcentagem de emergência, índice de velocidade de emergência, comprimento total da plântula, comprimento da parte aérea, comprimento da raiz primária, massa seca de parte aérea, número de plântulas normais e peso de 100 sementes. O experimento foi em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com 20 progênies (híbridos e recíprocos) e quatro repetições de 50 sementes. A diversidade genética foi determinada através dos métodos de agrupamento de otimização de Tocher e da ligação média não ponderada entre grupos, baseada na distância de Mahalanobis, além de avaliar a contribuição relativa dos caracteres para a divergência genética e a rede de correlações de acordo com as relações entre os grupos de variável qualidade, comprimento e massa. A variável que mais contribuiu para a divergência genética foi o comprimento total da plântula, sendo que o efeito recíproco não apresentou padrão consistente nas combinações híbridas estudadas.

Abstract: Characteristics related to seed quality have been rarely used in studies on the genetic diversity of passion fruit. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the genetic diversity between progenies constituted by hybrids and reciprocals, based on seed emergence and vigor traits. On the 28th day, emergence percentage, emergence speed index, shoot length, root length and total length of seedling; dry weight, number of normal seedlings and 100-seed weight were evaluated in a completely randomized design experiment with 20 progenies (hybrids and reciprocals) and four replications (50 seeds). Genetic diversity was determined using the Tocher optimization clustering methods and the unweighted pair group method, based on the Mahalanobis distance, as well as evaluating the relative contribution of the traits to genetic divergence and the correlation network, according to the relations between groups of quality, length and mass variables. The most contributing variable to genetic divergence was the total length of seedlings, the reciprocal effect did not present a consistent pattern in the studied hybrid combinations.

RESUMO Os frutos de nectarineiras geralmente apresentam tamanho pequeno, polpa firme, aroma e sabor bem acentuados. O conhecimento dos cultivares disponíveis, em relação a sua qualidade, bem como a sua adaptação aos locais de cultivo é extremamente importante, por possibilitar a escolha dos materiais com melhor potencial de mercado. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar os cultivares de nectarineira 'Josefina' e 'Rubro- Sol', cultivados sob condições de clima subtropical, em Viçosa, MG. Os experimentos foram realizados na Universidade Federal de Viçosa durante três safras e conduzidos em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, dentro do delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Foram colhidos 30 frutos de cada cultivar e avaliadas as características massa de fruto, diâmetros longitudinal e transversal, firmeza, teor de sólidos solúveis, acidez titulável e teores de ácido ascórbico e de carotenoides. Verificaram-se diferenças significativas entre as médias dos anos de avaliação quanto à firmeza e aos teores de ácido ascórbico e de carotenoides. O cultivar 'Rubro- Sol' destacou-se pela maior firmeza da polpa e o 'Josefina' pelo maior teor de sólidos solúveis e menor acidez titulável, com frutos mais doces.

ABSTRACT The fruits of nectarine trees usually have small, firm flesh, good aroma and flavor accented. Knowledge of available cultivars in relation to quality as well as its adaptation to local cultivation are extremely important as they allow the choice of materials with better market potential. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the nectarine cultivars 'Josefina' and 'Rubro- Sol' grown under subtropical conditions in Viçosa-MG. The experiments were carried out at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa for three seasons and conducted in split plots within the randomized design. Thirty fruits of each cultivar were harvested and the characteristics fruit weight, longitudinal and transverse diameters, firmness, soluble solids, titratable acidity and ascorbic acid contents and carotenoids were evaluated. There were significant differences between the means of years of avaliation as to the firmness and levels of ascorbic acid and carotenoids. The cultivar 'Rubro-sol' stood out for greater firmness and 'Josefina' by higher soluble solids and lower titratable acidity, with the sweetest fruits.

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a divergência genética entre populações de pessegueiro e quantificar a contribuição relativa de 13 características na diversidade, utilizando procedimentos multivariados. Foram analisados 179 indivíduos de 15 populações, com número de indivíduos variando de 3 a 64 plantas. As características avaliadas foram: na planta (densidade de nós por metro em ramos mistos, densidade de gemas vegetativas brotadas por metro de ramo, altura da planta e diâmetro do tronco); nos frutos (comprimento, diâmetro médio, firmeza, teor de sólidos solúveis, acidez total titulável, teor de vitamina C, área percentual de recobrimento com pigmento vermelho da epiderme, coordenada 'b' obtida da epiderme e ângulo hue da epiderme). A diversidade genética das populações foi avaliada pelos métodos de agrupamento de Tocher e vizinho mais próximo, utilizando-se a distância de Mahalanobis como medida de dissimilaridade. Foi obtido também o coeficiente de parentesco entre as populações estudadas e a contribuição relativa dos caracteres na variabilidade total. A realização do agrupamento pelo método de Tocher e Vizinho mais Próximo utilizando como medida de dissimilaridade as distâncias de Mahalanobis promoveram a formação de quatro grupos. Entre as populações estudadas, observa-se certo grau de parentesco entre a maioria das possíveis combinações com coeficientes de pequena magnitude (inferior a 0,2). As características que mais contribuíram para a discriminação dos genótipos foram o percentual de vermelho na epiderme, acidez total titulável e altura de plantas. As menores contribuições para a diversidade foram obtidas dos caracteres BRIX, número de nós/metro linear de ramo e vitamina C

This study aimed to evaluate the genetic divergence among peach populations and quantify the relative contribution of thirteen diversity characteristics using multivariate procedures. It was analyzed 179 individuals from 15 populations, number of individuals ranging from 3 to 64 plants. The characteristics evaluated were: plant (node density per meter mixed branches, density of vegetative buds sprouted per meter of branch, plant height and trunk diameter), fruit (length, diameter, firmness, soluble solids, titratable acidity, vitamin C, percentage of coverage area with red pigment of the epidermis, coordinated 'b' obtained from epidermis and hue angle of the epidermis). The genetic diversity of populations was evaluated by cluster Tocher and nearest neighbor using the Mahalanobis distance as the dissimilarity measure. It was also obtained the coefficient of relatedness among populations and the relative contribution of the characters in the total variability. The realization of grouping by the Tocher method and by the Nearest Neighbor using as dissimilarity measure the Mahalanobis distances promoted the formation of four groups. Among populations studied, it was observed certain relatedness degree between most possible combinations with coefficients of small magnitude (less than 0.2). The characteristics that contributed most to the discrimination of genotypes were the percentage of red in the epidermis, titratable acidity and plant height. The smaller contributions to diversity of characters were obtained by BRIX, number of nodes / linear meter of branch and vitamin C
