ABSTRACT The remaining filling material after retreatment can harbor bacteria and organic tissues that can influence the outcome of the therapy. Aim The aim of this study was to evalúate, by micro-CT, the amount of filling material remaining in the root canal after its removal using WaveOne Gold or ProDesign RT. Material and Method Forty human mandibular canines were instrumented with the ProTaper Next system up to the X2 instrument (25.06) and filled with gutta-percha cones and AHPlus. Teeth were divided into 2 groups (n=20): WaveOne Gold 25.07 (WOG) and ProDesign RT 25.08 (PRT) for filling removal, after which they were scanned in a micro-CT device to quantify the volume of remaining filling material. The data were subjected to log 10 transformation, Student ’s t-test was performed to account for multiple observationsper sample, significance was set at 5%. Results Student ’s t-test showed that there was no difference between the two systems regarding the volume of remaining filling material in the thirds: apical (p = 0.392), middle (p = 0.065), or cervical (p = 0.918). Conclusión Remaining filling material was present in all groups and both systems were similar in removing root filling material in mandibular canines.

RESUMO A permanencia de material obturador após o retratamento pode abrigar bactérias e tecidos orgánicos que podem influenciar o resultado da terapia. Objetivo O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar, por micro-CT, a quantidade de material obturador remanescente no canal radicular após a desobturagdo com WaveOne Gold e ProDesign RT. Material e Método Quarenta caninos inferiores humanos foram instrumentados com o sistema ProTaper Next até o instrumento X2 (25.06) e obturados com cones de guta-percha e AHPlus. Os dentes foram divididos em dois grupos (n=20): WaveOne Gold 25.07 (WOG) e ProDesign RT 25.08 (PRT) e escaneados em micro-CT para quantificagdo do volume de material obturador remanescente. Os dados foram submetidos á transformando log10, o teste t de Student foi realizado para contabilizar múltiplas observagoes por amostra, a significáncia foi fixada em 5%. Resultados O teste t de Student mostrou que ndo houve diferenga no volume de material obturador remanescente entre os dois sistemas nos tergos: apical (p = 0,392), médio (p = 0,065) ou cervical (p = 0,918). Conclusao O material obturador remanescente estavapresente em todos os grupos e ambos os sistemas foram semelhantes na remogdo do material obturador radicular nos caninos inferiores.

Aim This study aimed to assess the shaping ability of Reciproc Blue in the apical third and apical foramen of moderately curved canals at different working lengths (WLs), by micro-computed tomography. Methods Thirty-six mesial roots (mesiobuccal and mesiolingual canals) were included, each with 2 separate root canals and independent apical foramina, according to type IV of Vertucci’s classification of first and second mandibular molars. The canals were instrumented at three different WLs: G-1, 1mm short of the major apical foramen; G0, at the major apical foramen; G+1, 1mm beyond the major apical foramen. The groups were assessed for changes in root canal volume and untouched wall area in the apical third. Groups G0 and G+1 were also compared for percentage of untouched walls at the apical foramen. One-way ANOVA (post hoc Tukey test) and Student’s t-test adopted a 5% level of significance. Results Root canal volumes (mm3) in the apical third were 22.86±10.46, 44.48±24.91, and 55.71±21.32 in G-1, G0 and G+1, respectively. G-1 volume following instrumentation increased significantly less than that of G0 or G+1 (P>.05); G0 did not differ from G+1. The percentage of untouched wall area in the apical third did not differ among the three groups (P>.05). G0 and G+1 did not differ regarding untouched walls in the major apical foramem walls. Conclusion Extending the WL from 1mm short of the apical foramen to a point at and beyond the WL increases the apical third volume without increasing the prepared area. Untouched surface areas of the apical foramen were not modified by instrumentation at or beyond the foramen. Resumo Este estudo avaliou 3 motores endodônticos, X-Smart Plus (Dentsply Sirona, Ballaigues, Suíça), VDW.Silver Reciproc (VDW GmbH, Munique, Alemanha) e iRoot (Bassi Endodontics, Belo Horizonte, Brasil) em 2 diferentes ajustes de movimento reciprocante. Os movimentos analisados foram: 170° em sentido anti-horário (CCW) e 50° em sentido horário (CW) a 350 RPM, e 150° CCW e 30° CW a 300 RPM. Para os motores X-Smart Plus e VDW Silver os ajustes usados foram os que se apresentam nos ajustes pré-definidos dos motores. Para o iRoot o motor foi ajustado para os ângulos do estudo. Um alvo ótico customizado foi preso ao contra ângulo do motor e os movimentos foram gravados com uma câmara de alto resolução (K2 DistaMaxTM Long-Distance Microscope System, Infinity Photo-Optical Company, Colorado, EUA) a 2.400 quadros por segundo (FPS). As imagens foram analisadas com o sotware Vision Research (Inc. Headquarters, Wayne, Nova Jersey, USA). Os seguintes parâmetros de cinemática foram avaliados: ângulo anti-horário, ângulo horário, ângulo líquido, velocidade (RPM) em ambas direções e tempo de parada a cada mudança de direção. O Coeficiente de Correlação Intraclasse (ICC) e o teste de Kruskal-Wallis (método de Dunn) foram usados com nível de significâncias de 5%. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre os motores no ajuste de 150°/30° (P > .05); o motor iRoot foi o menos confiável no ajuste de 170°/50° para o ângulo anti-horário, velocidade e ângulo líquido (P < 0.05). O tempo de parada em todos os motores foi idêntico em ambas as direções. Nenhum dos motores foi capaz de reproduzir fielmente os movimentos. O motor iRoot apresentou maior discrepância quando comparado com o X-Smart Plus e VDW Silver.

Abstract This study assessed 3 endodontic motors, X-Smart Plus (Dentsply Sirona, Ballaigues, Switzerland), VDW.Silver Reciproc (VDW GmbH, München, Germany) and, iRoot (Bassi Endodontics, Belo Horizonte, Brazil) in 2 different reciprocating settings. The movements evaluated were 170° in counter-clockwise (CCW) and 50° in clockwise (CW) at 350 RPM, and 150° CCW and 30° CW at 300 RPM. For the X-Smart Plus and VDW Silver the settings used were the ones in the motor library. For the iRoot, the motor was adjusted to the angles of the study. A customized optic target was attached to the contra-angle of the motor and the movements were recorded with a high-resolution camera (K2 DistaMaxTM Long-Distance Microscope System, Infinity Photo-Optical Company, Colorado, EUA) at 2,400 frames per second (FPS). The images were analyzed with the Vision Research software (Inc. Headquarters, Wayne, New Jersey, EUA). The following kinematic parameters were assessed: CCW angle, CW angle, speed (RPM) at both directions, and, standstill time at each change of directions. The Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and Kruskal-Wallis (method of Dunn) were used at a significant level of 5%. There was no statistically significant difference among the motors at the 150°/30° setting (P > .05); the iRoot was the least reliable at the 170°/50° setting for CCW angle, speed, and net angle parameters (P < 0.05). The standstill time of all motors in both directions was identical. None of the motors were able to reproduce faithfully the set movements. The iRoot motor presented a higher discrepancy when compared to X-Smart and VDW Silver.

Resumo Este estudo analisa a moral tributária do cidadão brasileiro, almejando quantificá-la, bem como identificar se existe diferença na moral tributária no que tange às características sociodemográficas. A moral tributária é um importante determinante do cumprimento da legislação fiscal, portanto, aferi-la e avaliar cada aspecto que a determina possibilita traçar estratégias e assegurar melhor conformidade fiscal. O período compreendido foi de maio a agosto de 2017 e a pesquisa teve 679 participantes. O questionário, adaptado de Torgler, Schaffner e Macintyre (2007), com perguntas objetivas de múltipla escolha, possibilitou a coleta de dados de pessoas físicas e foi aplicado indiretamente, de maneira eletrônica, e validado com base no coeficiente alfa de Crombach. Os resultados evidenciaram, em termos médios, uma percepção neutra ou parcialmente contrária à prática da evasão fiscal. No que diz respeito ao gênero, os resultados indicam que, em geral, as mulheres têm maior moral tributária do que os homens; já em relação à religião, restou demonstrado que os espíritas têm maior moral tributária em comparação com os participantes que declararam outras religiões; no que concerne à educação, percebeu-se que quanto maior a instrução formal, maior a moral tributária. Conclui-se que os resultados obtidos são pertinentes e significativos e, certamente, ajudam a compreender o desafio do compliance tributário, assim como podem subsidiar novas investigações acerca do tema, dada sua relevância teórica e social e o pioneirismo desta iniciativa de pesquisa no Brasil.

Abstract This study analyzes the tax morals of the Brazilian citizen, aiming to measure its level, as well as if there is a difference of the tax morals in the sociodemographic characteristics. Tax morale is an important determinant of compliance with tax legislation, so measuring it and evaluate each aspect that determines it allows to strategize and ensure better fiscal conformity. The research period was between May and August 2017, with 679 participants. The questionnaire adapted from the work of Torgler, Schaffner, and MacIntyre (2007), with multiple choice objective questions allowed the collection of data from individuals and was applied indirectly, electronically, validated by the use of the Cronbach’s alpha. The results showed in medium terms a neutral or partially contrary perception of the practice of tax evasion. As far as gender is concerned, the results indicate that women generally have higher tax morals than men. Regarding religion it has been demonstrated that spiritualists have higher tax morals compared to participants from other religions. As for education, the higher the formal education, the higher the tax moral. The results are relevant and meaningful, and help to better understand the challenge of tax compliance, as well as offer elements to insire future research on the subject, considering its theoretical and social relevance, and the fact that it is little studied in Brazil.

Resumen Este estudio analiza la moral tributaria del ciudadano brasileño, con el objetivo de cuantificarla, así como para identificar si hay una diferencia en la moral tributaria en lo que respecta a las características sociodemográficas. La moral tributaria es un determinante importante del cumplimiento de la legislación fiscal, por lo tanto, cotejarla y evaluar cada aspecto que la determina, permite elaborar estrategias y garantizar una mejor conformidad fiscal. El período de la encuesta fue entre los meses de mayo y agosto del año 2017, con 679 participantes. El cuestionario adaptado de Torgler, Schaffner y MacIntyre (2007), con preguntas objetivas de elección múltiple, permitió la recolección de datos de personas físicas, se aplicó indirecta y electrónicamente, y se validó por el uso del coeficiente alfa de Crombach. Los resultados mostraron, en términos medios, una percepción neutra o parcialmente contraria a la práctica de la evasión fiscal. En lo que se refiere al género, los resultados indican que las mujeres generalmente tienen una mayor moral tributaria que los hombres. Por otro lado, con relación a la religión, se ha demostrado que los espiritistas tienen una mayor moral tributaria en comparación con los participantes que han declarado otras religiones; En lo que respecta a la educación, se ha observado que cuanto más alta es la educación formal, mayor es la moral tributaria. Se concluye que los resultados obtenidos son relevantes y significativos, y sin duda ayudan a comprender mejor el reto del cumplimiento tributario, así como pueden contribuir a nuevas investigaciones sobre el tema, dada la relevancia teórica y social y el carácter inédito en Brasil.

O objetivo do presente estudo foi o de avaliar os efeitos citotóxicos de hipoclorito de sódio (NaOCl) a 2,5%, ácido etilenodiaminotetracético (EDTA) a 17% e ácido peracético (PAA) a 1% em fibroblastos humanos. As linhagens celulares FG11 e FG15 foram colonizadas em 24-well cell plates para avaliação da proliferação celularr e em 96-well cell plates para o ensaio de MTT; O médio modificado Dulbecco's Eagle's (DMEM) foi usado como controle. As soluções experimentais foram usadas com diluições de 0,01%, 0. 05%, e 0,1% e avaliadas com 1, 2 e 4 horas de intervalo. Os dados foram submetidos à análise estatística pelo two-way ANOVA, seguido do teste de Bonferroni com nivel de significância dep <0. 05. A avaliação da proliferação celular neste estudo mostrou o NaOCL a 2,5% como citotóxico nas 3 diluições e 3 intervalos de tempo, o EDTA a 17% nas diluições de 0,05% e 0,1% nos intervalos de 2 e 4 horas, e o PAA a 1% em todas as diluições no intervalo de 4 horas. O teste de viabilidade cellular (MTT) mostrou o NaOCl a 2,5% citotóxico a 0,05% e 0,1% em todos os intervalos, o EDTA a 17% citotóxico nas diluições de 0,1% nos intervalos de 2 e 4 horas e o PAA a 1% citotóxico na diluição de 0,1% nos intervalos de 2 e 4 horas. Como concluSão o PAA a 1% mostrou-se menos citotóxico que o NaOCl a 2,5%> e o EDTA a 17%>.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of 2. 5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), 17% ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), and 1% peracetic acid (PAA) on human fibroblasts. FG11 and FG15 cell lines were cultured in 24-well cell culture plates for cell proliferation assessment and 96-well cell culture plates for the methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay; Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM) was used as control data. The experimental solutions were used at 0. 01%, 0. 05%, and 0. 1% dilutions and assessed at 1-, 2-, and 4-hour intervals. Data were subjected to statistical analysis by two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by the Bonferroni test at a significance level of p <0. 05. The assessment of cell proliferation in this study showed cytotoxicity to the fibroblasts with 2. 5% NaOCl for all three dilutions at all time intervals, 17% EDTA for the 0. 05% and 0. 1% dilutions at the 2- and 4-hour intervals, and 1% PAA for all three dilutions at the 4-hour interval. The cell viability assay (MTT assay) for fibroblasts showed 2. 5% NaOCl to be cytotoxic at the 0. 05% and 0. 1% dilutions at all time intervals, 17% EDTA to be cytotoxic at the 0. 1% dilution at the 2- and 4-hour intervals, and 1% PAA to be cytotoxic at the 0. 1% dilution at the 2- and 4-hour intervals. In conclusion, 1% PAA was less cytotoxic than 2. 5% NaOCl and 17% EDTA.

RESUMO O monitoramento quali-quantitativo de recursos hídricos é uma atividade complexa. Sua continuidade dá origem a extensos bancos de dados contendo séries históricas de diversas variáveis e pontos, que exigem a aplicação de métodos estatísticos para extração de informações. A aplicação de métodos estatísticos para a análise de frequências de séries históricas está vinculada ao atendimento aos pressupostos básicos de aleatoriedade, homogeneidade, independência e estacionariedade. Apesar da importância destes critérios, sua verificação é incomum em literatura de qualidade de água. Neste artigo, estas hipóteses foram testadas em séries históricas da Bacia do Alto Iguaçu. Observou-se rejeição em 15%, 26%, 51% e 31% das séries testadas para aleatoriedade, homogeneidade, independência e estacionariedade, respectivamente. Os resultados evidenciaram a forte relação entre as estratégias de monitoramento, a forma de abordagem dos dados e o atendimento aos pressupostos básicos para análise de séries de qualidade da água. Apesar da existência de possibilidades para solução do problema de não atendimento, as estratégias típicas de monitoramento com frequências irregulares e pouca representatividade em relação a outros períodos, além do horário comercial, representam um obstáculo para sua implementação.

ABSTRACT The water resources quality continuous monitoring is a complex activity. It generates extensive databases with time series of many variables and monitoring points that require the application of statistical methods for the information extraction. The application of statistical methods for frequency analysis of time series is linked to attending of the basic assumptions of randomness, homogeneity, independence, and stationarity. However, despite its importance, the verification of these assumptions in water quality literature is unusual. Therefore, the present study tests the Upper Iguaçu basin water quality time series against the mentioned hypotheses. Rejection was observed in 15%, 26%, 51% e 31% for randomness, homogeneity, independence, and stationarity, respectively. The results evidenced the strong relation between monitoring strategy, data assessment and meeting of basic statistical assumptions for the analysis of water quality time series. Even with the existence of possible solutions for addressing those issues, the standard monitoring strategies, with irregular frequencies and lack of representativeness in relation to other periods, beyond commercial, act as an obstacle to their implementation.

The purpose of present study was to analyze the effect of pigmentation and chemical disinfection on the initial and the permanent deformation of two silicones (Silved Selant and Brascoved) for facial prosthesis. Initial and permanent deformation tests samples (20 mm × 12.5 mm) were made following the manufacturer's instructions. For each silicone (n= 40), ten samples were used for pigmentation with make up power, ten with iron oxide, ten with ceramics power and tem were tested without pigmentation. Five samples of each group were submitted to chemical disinfection using a 2 % Chlorhexidine spray. All samples were immersed in physiological saline and stored in an oven at 35 º ± 1 ºC. After 90 days, the samples were submitted to initial and permanent deformation tests using a dial indicator. For both properties, data were analyzed by Tukey's test (a= 0.05). The results showed that all the materials had initial and permanent deformation regardless of pigmentation and chemical disinfection. The groups were used for pigmentation with iron oxide showed less initial and permanent deformation when were submitted to the chemical disinfection regardless the silicone used.

La propuesta de este estudio fue analizar el efecto de la pigmentación y de la desinfección química sobre la deformación inicial y permanente de dos siliconas (Silved Selant y Brascoved) utilizadas en la confección de prótesis faciales. Las muestras para los analisis de deformación inicial y permanente (20 mm × 12,5 mm) fueron confeccionadas de acuerdo con las instrucciones del fabricante. Para cada silicona (n= 40), diez muestras fueron pigmentadas con polvo de maquillaje, diez con óxido de hierro, diez con polvo de cerámica y diez sin pigmentación. Cinco muestras de cada grupo fueron sometidas a desinfección química, con clorhexidina al 2 % por aspersión. Todas las muestras fueron inmersas en suero fisiológico y almacenado en estufa a 35 º ± 1 ºC. Después de 90 días, las muestras fueron sometidas a los exámenes de deformación inicial y permanente. Para ambas propiedades, los datos fueron analizados por el test de Tukey (a= 0,05). Los resultados mostraron que todos los materiales presentaron deformación inicial y permanente independiente de la desinfección química y pigmentación. Los grupos pigmentados con óxido de hierro fueron los que presentaron menor deformación, inicial y permanente, cuando fueron sometidos a desinfección química, independientemente de la silicona usada.
