RESUMO Este artigo pretende discutir a possibilidade de subversão dos estereótipos atribuídos à mulher por meio da análise da representação da personagem Carmen entre o texto fonte e as adaptações cinematográficas inspiradas na narrativa de Mérimée e/ou na ópera de Bizet. ABSTRACT This article aims to discuss the possibility of subverting the stereotypes attributed to women through the analysis of the representation of the character Carmen between the source text and the cinematographic adaptations inspired by Mérimée’s narrative and/or by Bizet’s opera in order to understand the mechanisms used for the construction of the character from Hutcheon’s A theory of adaptation as well as other authors.
