Contemporary gravimetry uses gravimeters to find the magnitude of gravitational acceleration (g) in a punctual manner on the Earth’s surface. This work considered the relevance of determining g in the didactic laboratory using the pendulum, making a careful analysis of the phenomena that affect the oscillating device, bringing contributions to the teaching of Classical Physics. The first, although modest, is effective, and proposes measuring the oscillation period using two smartphones. The second, a theoretical analysis of the effect of angular amplitude correlated to drag, on the period of pendulum oscillation. The third refers to the validation of two equations that provide the value of g like a function of latitude and altitude, with gravimetric data available on the IBGE website. At the Londrina campus of UTFPR, independent tests were carried out, allowing the value g U T F P R − L d = ( 9.7873 ± 0.0012 ) m ⋅ s − 2 to be obtained. To validate the methodology and verify its accuracy, the two equations that provide g as a function of altitude and latitude were compared with gravimetric data to define which would be most suitable for generating the reference value. This done, it was found that the experimentally obtained value differed by 0.001 m ⋅ s − 2 (0.01%). A Gravimetria contemporânea vale-se de gravímetros para encontrar o módulo da aceleração gravitacional (g) de forma pontual na superfície terrestre. Esse trabalho considerou a pertinência da determinação de g no laboratório didático por intermédio do pêndulo, fazendo atenciosa análise dos fenômenos que afetam o dispositivo em oscilação, trazendo contribuições para o ensino da Física Clássica. A primeira, embora modesta, é eficaz, e propõe medir o período de oscilação empregando dois smartphones. A segunda, uma análise teórica acerca do efeito da amplitude angular correlacionada ao arrasto, sobre o período de oscilação do pêndulo. A terceira, refere-se à validação de duas equações que fornecem o valor de g em função da latitude e da altitude, com os dados gravimétricos disponíveis no site do IBGE. Desde o final do século XIX, e posteriormente impulsionado pelo desenvolvimento aeroespacial, a modelagem das vibrações em estruturas metálicas tem demandado grande empenho por parte dos pesquisadores. Acrescentese a isto a importância de se prever os abalos sísmicos e de se minimizar os danos que geram, e se tem mais um significativo propósito pelo estudo das ondas em estruturas. No curso de Física Clássica, aborda-se a ondulatória na perspectiva do oscilador harmônico, das ondas em cordas e em tubos sonoros, analisando-se as ondas longitudinais e transversais. Entretanto, ondas de superfície e ondas extensionais raramente são citadas, de forma que o presente trabalho pretende contribuir na pavimentação desta pequena lacuna, propondo uma atividade prática para calcular o módulo da velocidade das ondas extensionais em hastes de aço e alumínio, empregando as frequências dos harmônicos das ondas estacionárias extensionais. O desenvolvimento teórico é plenamente compreensível ao estudante que possua conhecimento básico de Física e de Cálculo Diferencial e Integral. O aparato experimental é de baixo custo e plenamente disponível. Determinam-se as frequências ressonantes com um telefone celular onde se instalou aplicativo Spectroid, gratuito. Obtiveram-se para as velocidades extensionais vext−Al = (5, 05±0, 02).103m/s e vext-aço = (5, 21±0, 08).103m/s, implicando que os respectivos desvios relativos em relação à literatura foram 1% e 0,6%, muito bons para um laboratório didático. A atividade ainda favorece o aprofundamento dos conceitos relacionados às oscilações e ainda traz fortes elementos lúdicos, como o emprego do telefone celular e o timbre agradável das hastes ressonantes, de forma que sua aplicação é plenamente factível e recomendável.

Since the end of the 19th century, and later driven by aerospace development, the modeling of vibrations in metallic structures has demanded significant effort on the part of researchers. Add to this the importance of predicting earthquakes and minimizing the damage they generate, and there is one more significant purpose for the study of waves in structures. In the Classical Physics course, waves are approached from the perspective of the harmonic oscillator, waves in strings and sound tubes, analyzing longitudinal and transverse waves. However, surface waves and extensional waves are rarely mentioned, so the present work intends to contribute to the paving of this small gap, proposing a practical activity to calculate the modulus of the speed of extensional waves in steel and aluminum rods, using the frequencies of the harmonics of extensional standing waves. The theoretical development is fully understandable to the student who has basic knowledge of Physics and Differential and Integral Calculus. The experimental apparatus is low cost and fully available. The resonant frequencies are determined with a cell phone where the free Spectroid application has been installed. For extensional speeds, were obtained vext−Al = (5.05±0.02).103m/s and vext−steel = (5.21±0.08).103m/s, implying that the respective relative deviations from the literature were 1% and 0.6%, very good for a teaching laboratory. The activity also favors the deepening of the concepts related to oscillations and brings strong playful elements, such as the use of the cell phone and the pleasant timbre of the resonant rods, so that its application is fully feasible and recommendable.

Esse artigo descreve uma proposta de atividade prática para a graduação, envolvendo um estudo teórico-experimental sobre a influência do ar no movimento de queda dos corpos. Para isso, analisou-se a dinâmica do movimento de objetos esféricos em queda vertical no ar, considerando-se a força de arrasto, apreciando-se a relação entre um intervalo de tempo característico e o comportamento da velocidade e da aceleração, comparando-se a previsão do modelo teórico com os dados experimentais. Para a obtenção dos dados, realizou-se um ensaio utilizando-se de filmagem da queda com aparelho celular e posterior tratamento com o Tracker. Os resultados apontaram que o movimento de queda de um corpo esférico de isopor com diâmetro da ordem de dois centímetros serviria ao propósito, permitindo verificar-se a presença do arrasto inercial e a tendência a uma velocidade limite em uma queda inferior a três metros, em acordo com as previsões teóricas. Além disso, verificou-se não haver correlação entre o módulo da velocidade inicial com a magnitude da velocidade terminal, implicando que a transição ocorrida do regime viscoso para o inercial, nos primeiros instantes, não afetaria o comportamento da velocidade nos instantes seguintes. This article describes a practical activity proposal for graduation, involving a theoretical and experimental study on the influence of air on the falling motion of bodies. For this, the dynamics of the movement of spherical objects in vertical fall in the air were analyzed, considering the drag force, appreciating the relationship between a characteristic time interval and the behavior of speed and acceleration, comparing the prediction of the theoretical model with the experimental data. To obtain the data, a test was performed using video footage of the fall with a cell phone and subsequent treatment with the Tracker. The results showed that the falling movement of a spherical styrofoam body with a diameter of the order of two centimeters would serve the purpose, allowing to verify the presence of inertial drag and the tendency to a limit speed in a fall of less than three meters, in according to theoretical predictions. In addition, it was found that there is no correlation between the initial velocity module and the magnitude of the terminal velocity, implying that the transition from the viscous to the inertial regime, in the first moments, would not affect the behavior of the velocity in the following moments.

As descrições dos fenômenos ondulatórios exigem do estudante observar atenta e sistematicamente fenômenos que permitam construir significados sobre conceitos como ressonância, superposição de ondas, interferência, difração, reflexão e harmônicos. Neste trabalho, objetiva-se tecer uma breve biografia do Físico Ernst Florens Friedrich Chladni, e sua contribuição para o campo da acústica para o fenômeno da formação de figuras em placas ressoantes, assunto pouco explorado na literatura brasileira de ensino de Física. As informações levantadas sobre a história e a descoberta de Chladni, foram apresentadas neste artigo a partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica em livros publicados e reeditados em alemão e inglês por outros pesquisadores. Para cada artigo publicado e livros analisados, fez-se uma tradução livre no afã de fornecer ao leitor a compreensão histórica da descoberta de Chladni. Deste modo, os Padrões de Chladni, e a história de sua descoberta contribuem para uma aprendizagem de conceitos clássicos da física, relevantes para formação intelectual e científica do estudante e ou pesquisador.

The descriptions of the wave phenomena require the student to observe carefully and systematically phenomena that allow constructing meanings about concepts such as resonance, wave superposition, interference, diffraction, reflection and harmonics. The objective of this work is to present a brief biography of the Physicist Ernst Florens Friedrich Chladni and his contribution to the field of acoustics for the phenomenon of the formation of resonant plates, a subject rarely explored in the Brazilian literature of Physics teaching. The information collected on the history and the discovery of Chladni, were presented in this article from a bibliographical research in books published and reedited in German and English by other researchers. For each published article and books analyzed, a free translation was made in the effort to provide the reader with the historical understanding of Chladni's discovery. In this way, the Chladni Standards, and the history of their discovery, contribute to a learning of classical concepts of physics, relevant to the student's intellectual and scientific formation and / or researcher.

ResumoO presente estudo realiza um levantamento dos principais trabalhos produzidos ao longo das últimas décadas a respeito da compreensão das ações e raciocínio dos estudantes frente a uma situação de medição, culminando na elaboração de um modelo-síntese denominado Paradigma Pontual e de Conjunto. Avançando nas pesquisas referentes ao tema, propõe-se o refinamento teórico para caracterizar os paradigmas em Categorias de Compreensão Conceitual, contribuindo para uma análise mais minuciosa e qualitativa das concepções dos estudantes relativas a medição.

AbstractThis study carried out a survey of the main papers produced over the past decades about the understanding and thinking of the students in a measurement situation. It led to the development of a model-synthesis called Point and Set Paradigm. To develop research in this subject, a theoretical refinement is proposed to characterize the current paradigm into Categories of Conceptual Understandings which will contribute to a more thorough and qualitative understanding of students' conceptions regarding measurement.

Este trabalho faz um estudo comparativo entre as velocidades de rolamento de uma esfera de aço num plano inclinado com lançamento oblíquo. Para determinar a velocidade final no plano inclinado foram utilizados cronômetros com sensores digitais, e para determinar a velocidade inicial do lançamento oblíquo foram utilizadas as equações de alcance horizontal. Através do gráfico da velocidade em função da raiz quadrada da altura do plano inclinado, foi possível determinar a faixa de compatibilidade entre os dois primeiros modos para obter a velocidade da esfera, bem como fazer a comparação com um terceiro modo, no qual se admitiu a conservação da energia mecânica. Através do mesmo tipo de gráfico, foi possível determinar, pelo início do deslizamento, o valor do coeficiente de atrito entre a esfera e o plano inclinado, cujo resultado ficou compatível com outra forma simples de determinação.

This article reports a comparative study of the velocities of rolling of a steel sphere on an inclined plane with an angle of launching. To determine the final velocity in the inclined plane, we used stopwatches with digital sensors, and to determine the initial velocity on the oblique launch, we used the horizontal range equations. From the graph of the velocity as a function of the square root of the height of the inclined plane it was possible to determine the range of compatibility between the first two modes to determine the speed of the sphere and make comparisons with a third mode, in which case it was supposed the conservation of mechanical energy. From the same type of graph, it was possible to determine the start conditions of sliding, and the coefficient of friction between the sphere and the inclined plane, with consistent results with other simple methods.

O estudo propõe a construção de um referencial analítico para a investigação do desempenho de estudantes na produção manual de gráficos cartesianos a partir de tabelas, pautando-se na perspectiva dos registros de representação semiótica, de Raymond Duval, e nos níveis de compreensão da informação gráfica, de Postigo e Pozo. A escolha dos referidos referenciais é relevante, pois o primeiro relaciona as atividades cognitivas às representações semióticas produzidas pelos estudantes, e o segundo permite classificar o domínio da representação gráfica em termos dos níveis de elaboração e complexidade do gráfico produzido. Com base na ferramenta analítica proposta, desenvolveu-se um estudo de caso, considerando para tal fim as produções escritas e entrevistas complementares de estudantes da graduação em Física. Os resultados permitiram classificar o domínio semiótico da representação gráfica com um grau de refinamento analítico superior aos propostos pelos últimos autores.

The study proposes to construct a theoretical framework of analysis to investigate the difficulties of the manual construction of Cartesian graphs for undergraduate degree students in Physics under the light of the theory of semiotic representation registers by Duval and levels of processing graphic information of Postigo and Pozo. The choice of such reference is relevant because the first relates to cognitive activities, semiotic representations produced by students and the second allows you to sort the field of graphical representation in terms of levels of development and complexity of the graph produced. Based on the proposed analytical tool, a case study was developed considering the written productions and additional interviews on graduate students in physics for that purpose. The results classify the semiotic field of the graphical representation with a higher degree of analytical refinement proposed by the latter authors.
