ABSTRACT This study aimed to assess the effect of different doses and times of application of the growth regulator trinexapac-ethyl on the productive performance of white oat cultivars. The experiment was carried out in Londrina, Paraná State, Brazil, in the 2019 and 2020 seasons using the white oat cultivars IPR Artemis and URS Corona. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications arranged in a 4 × 3 factorial scheme, conducted separately for each cultivar, with four doses of trinexapac-ethyl (0, 50, 100, and 150 g ha-1) and three times of application (T1, first node noticeable; T2, first node visible and second node noticeable; and T3, second node visible and third node noticeable). The following agronomic characters were evaluated: plant height, panicle length, panicles per square meter, spikelets per panicle, grains per spikelet, grains per panicle, thousand grain weight,lodging percentage, and grain yield. Application of trinexapac-ethyl at doses of 100 or 150 g ha-1 at T2 or T3 reduced panicle length, spikelets per panicle, and grains per panicle in IPR Artemis and URS Corona. However, it also reduced plant height and increased panicles per square meter and yield in both cultivars. Resumo: O uso de colorimetria quantitativa pode ser empregada para caracterização de cores em sementes de triticale submetidas ao teste de fenol. Este trabalho teve como objetivo efetuar a caracterização da coloração de sementes de triticale após o teste de fenol utilizando a avaliação visual de cores e colorimetria quantitativa utilizando o sistema CIELAB. As sementes avaliadas foram provenientes de 88 genótipos de triticale do banco de germoplasma do IDR-Paraná. Os dados colorimétricos para L (luminosidade), cromaticidade a* e b* das sementes antes e após a reação ao fenol foram obtidos usando um colorímetro Minolta modelo CR-400. A escala de notas utilizada variou de 1 (coloração muito fraca ou ausente) até 9 (coloração muito escura) para avaliação visual de cor nas sementes após a reação ao fenol. As sementes classificadas como nota 1 apresentaram valores médios de 46,3; 6,6 e 16,4 para L, a* e b*, respectivamente. Em outro extremo, tem-se as sementes classificadas como “escuras” ou “muito escuras”, e verificou-se valores iguais ou inferiores de 28,4 para L, 5,6 para cromaticidade a* e 6,0 para cromaticidade b*. O uso dos parâmetros colorimétricos revela-se de aplicação prática, com menor subjetividade na classificação da coloração das sementes de triticale após a reação ao fenol.

Abstract: Quantitative colorimetry can be used to characterize the color of triticale seeds submitted to the phenol test. This study aimed to characterize the color of triticale seeds after the phenol test by visual color evaluation and quantitative colorimetry using the CIELAB color space. The evaluated seeds came from 88 triticale genotypes from the IDR-Paraná Germplasm Bank. The colorimetric data for L (lightness) and chromaticity coordinates a* and b* of the seeds before and after phenol reaction were obtained using a Minolta CR-400 colorimeter. The score scale ranged from 1 (very weak or absent color) to 9 (very dark color) and evaluated visually the seed color after phenol reaction. Seeds classified as score 1 showed mean values of 46.3, 6.6, and 16.4 for L, a*, and b*, respectively. On the other hand, seeds classified as dark or very dark showed values equal to or lower than 28.4 for L, 5.6 for chromaticity a*, and 6.0 for chromaticity b*. The use of colorimetric parameters showed a practical application and low subjectivity in the classification of the color of triticale seeds after phenol reaction.

Abstract IPR Celeiro is a common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivar with a carioca-type seed and moderate resistance to Bean Golden Mosaic Virus (BGMV). IPR Celeiro has a normal life cycle and an upright architecture. This cultivar was released for the purpose of integrating its use with disease management systems in the cultivation areas affected by this virus.

RESUMO O déficit hídrico durante o desenvolvimento do amendoinzeiro prejudica vários processos fisiológicos da planta e reduz sua produtividade. Este estudo objetivou avaliar o rendimento de grãos, componentes de produção e crescimento de cultivares e linhagens de amendoim submetidas a déficit hídrico, em condições de campo. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso, com parcelas subdivididas e três repetições. Os tratamentos de déficit hídrico (com e sem) constituíram as parcelas e os genótipos avaliados (IAC Tatu ST, BR1, BRS Havana, Col 72 e Col 82) as subparcelas. A irrigação foi suspensa nas parcelas submetidas à deficiência hídrica entre 35 e 75 dias após a emergência. O crescimento das plantas, massa seca da parte aérea e área foliar foram afetados negativamente pelo déficit hídrico. Verificou-se incremento da diferença entre as parcelas com e sem deficiência hídrica, conforme o aumento do período de supressão de água. A cultivar BRS Havana e a linhagem Col 82 apresentaram tolerância moderada à seca, com os maiores rendimentos de grãos em condição de déficit hídrico. O déficit hídrico foi responsável por redução de 68 % no rendimento de grãos na cultivar IAC Tatu ST, 44 % no número de vagens por planta na linhagem Col 82, 11 % no número de sementes por vagem na linhagem Col 72 e 11 % na massa de 100 sementes na cultivar BRS1.

ABSTRACT Water deficit throughout the peanut plant development negatively affects physiological processes and reduces its yield. This study aimed to evaluate grain yield, yield components and plant growth of peanut cultivars and breeding lines subjected to water deficit under field conditions. The experimental design was split-plot randomized blocks with three replications. Water deficit treatments (with and without irrigation) were considered the plots and genotypes (IAC Tatu ST, BR1, BRS Havana, Col 72 and Col 82) the subplots. Irrigation was discontinued between 35 and 75 days after emergence on plots subjected to water stress. Plant growth, shoot dry matter and leaf area were negatively affected by drought stress. The difference between plots with and without water stress increased proportionally to the increase in the period of water suppression. The BRS Havana cultivar and the Col 82 breeding line were moderately tolerant to water deficit, with the highest grain yields under stress conditions. Water deficit caused a 68 % reduction in grain yield for the IAC Tatu ST cultivar, 44 % in number of pods per plant for the Col 82 breeding line, 11 % in number of seeds per pod for the Col 72 breeding line and 11 % in the 100 seeds weight for the BRS1 cultivar.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos da interação genótipo por ambiente na produtividade de grãos em linhagens e cultivares de feijoeiro, com a finalidade de orientar programas de melhoramento visando ao desenvolvimento de cultivares superiores. No ano agrícola 2005/2006, foi estabelecido um ensaio, na safra das águas e da seca, em três Estações Experimentais do Iapar, num total de seis ambientes. O delineamento utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com 20 tratamentos e três repetições. As parcelas foram constituídas por duas linhas de 5 m, com espaçamento de 0,5 m entre linhas e com densidade de 15 plantas por metro. Foram efetuadas avaliações para o número médio de dias para florescimento e maturação fisiológica e produtividade de grãos por parcela. As análises de variância individuais e conjuntas para produtividade de grãos revelaram efeitos significativos para genótipos, ambientes e para a interação G x A, em nível de 1 e 5% de probabilidade, revelando que os genótipos comportaram-se diferentemente de acordo com os ambientes. As linhagens LPSIA04-103, LPSIA04-104 LPSIA04-106 e LPSIA04-108 destacaram-se por apresentarem precocidade, ou seja, menor número médio de dias para florescimento e maturação fisiológica dos grãos, produtividade de grãos média elevada e ampla adaptabilidade.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of the genotype x environment interaction in the grain yield in lines and cultivars of common bean, as well as to give directions for breeding programs to develop superior cultivars. During the 2005/2006 agricultural year, an assay was conducted in the wet and dry cropping seasons, at three IAPAR Experimental Stations, totaling six environments. Complete randomized blocks, with 20 genotypes and three replications were used. Each plot had two lines of 5 m, 0.5 m between rows, and 15 plants m-1. Number of days to flowering and physiological maturity of the grains and grain yield were assessed. The individual and combined analyses of variance indicated significant differences among genotypes, environments and for the G x A interaction, at 1 and 5% levels of probability, revealing that the evaluated genotypes performed differently according to the environment in which the tests were performed. The following lines were selected: LPSIA04-103, LPSIA04-104 LPSIA04-106 and LPSIA04-108. All lines showed precocity (shorter number of days to flowering and physiological maturity of the grains), high grain yield and wide adaptability.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a variabilidade genética, o efeito ambiental e a estabilidade para o teor de proteína em grãos. Na safra da seca 2006, foram conduzidos dois experimentos, um para o grupo comercial carioca e outro para o grupo preto, em três locais do Estado do Paraná. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados com três repetições e parcelas constituídas de quatro linhas de 5 m, espaçadas 0,50 m. Na maturidade fisiológica, retiraram-se amostras de 200 g de grãos de cada parcela experimental; estas foram armazenadas em câmara fria até a realização das análises do teor de proteína. A análise de variância conjunta revelou efeito significativo do genótipo, do ambiente e da interação genótipo por ambiente. Estes resultados indicam a existência de variabilidade genética entre as cultivares e linhagens de feijão estudadas e que esses genótipos comportaram-se de maneira diferenciada nos diferentes ambientes onde foram avaliados. Os genótipos de feijão que apresentaram maiores teores médios de proteína, ampla adaptabilidade e alta estabilidade de comportamento foram: FT120, FT Soberano, Xamego e LP99-96 (grupo preto); BRS Pontal, FT Magnífico, IAC Tibatã, IAPAR 81, IPR Juriti e Pérola (grupo carioca).

The objective this study was to evaluate the genetic variability, environmental effect and stability for the protein content in common bean grains. Two experiments were conducted: one for the carioca group and another for the black group, during the dry season of 2006, in three locations in the state of Paraná. A completely randomized block design was used, with three replications and plots consisting of four rows with 5 m, spaced 0.50m apart. Two-hundred-gram samples were collected from each plot at physical maturity. The grain samples were stored in a cold chamber. A joint analysis of variance showed significant genotype, environment and genotype-environment interaction effects. These results indicate the existence of genetic variability among the genotypes of the common bean, and each genotype showed different behavior in the different environments in which they were evaluated. The genotypes that showed higher average levels of protein, wide adaptability and high behavioral stability were: FT120, FT Soberano, Xamego and LP99-96 (black group); BRS Pontal, FT Magnífico, IAC Tibatã, IAPAR 81, IPR Juriti and Pérola (carioca group).
