Abstract The type specimens of the family Disteniidae Thomson, 1861 (Coleoptera) housed at the Museu de Zoologia, Universidade de São Paulo (MZSP) are cataloged and illustrated. Photos of dorsal and ventral habitus, labels, and complete label data of all the specimens are provided. There are 147 specimens belonging to 70 names: 33 primary types, 31 holotypes, and two lectotypes; and 114 secondary types, 52 paratypes, and two paralectotypes. Elytrimitatrix (Grossifemora) Santos-Silva & Hovore, 2007 is the genus with the greatest number of species with type material, 21 species, followed by Cometes Lepeletier & Audinet-Serville, 1828 and Novantinoe Santos-Silva & Hovore, 2007 with 15 and 13 species, respectively. Abstract Eburodacrys pilicornis Fisher, 1944 is redescribed based on a female from Brazil (Mato Grosso do Sul), and new state record for Venezuela and new department record for Colombia are provided. Notes and new state records in Brazil for Tilloglomus spectabile Martins, 1975 are provided. The pronotal shape of Piezocera flavipennis (Zajciw, 1970) is commented on. Piezocera serraticollis Linell, 1897 is synonymized with P. monochroa Bates, 1885 and an updated key to species of Piezocera Audinet-Serville, 1834 is provided. Abstract The validity of two forgotten names, EryphusKlug, 1829 and E. rubricollisKlug, 1829, is discussed. The former is considered a nomen oblitum and synonymized with EriphusAudinet-Serville, 1834, a nomen protectum; the latter is revalidated and Eriphus purpuratus Chevrolat, 1862 is considered a junior synonym of Eriphus rubricollis (Klug, 1829). A lectotype is designated to Eryphus rubricollisKlug, 1829. The date of the work where EriphusAudinet-Serville, 1834 was described is corrected. Abstract Acanthoderes crocostigma Bates, 1880 is transferred to AcakyraMartins & Galileo, 1996. Acanthoderes umbrata Bates, 1885 is synonymized with Acanthoderes purulensis Bates, 1885. Variation of the elytral pubescent pattern in Aegomorphus longitarsis (Bates, 1880) is reported, and the species is recorded for the first time from Colombia (Boyacá) and Brazil (Amazonas). The variation of the elytral pubescent pattern in Aegomorphus doctus (Bates, 1880) is reported, and the species is recorded for the first time from the Mexican state of Jalisco. We comment on the type-locality of Aegomorphus borrei (Dugès, 1885). Two new species are described from Mexico (Jalisco): Aegomorphus cunninghami and A. nogueirai.

Abstract Coleoptera is one of the most diverse orders on the planet, and Colombia one of the most biodiverse countries. The combination of these two factors determines with no discussion a high concentration of species, with only partially known consequences in the country. In this work we describe the current state of knowledge about the diversity of coleopterans in Colombia, highlighting the role of entomological collections and the knowledge gaps to tackle the national beetle fauna. This contribution is a starting point for coleopterologists of Colombia to begin working together towards a broader and less fragmented knowledge of the natural history, systematics, ecology, and biogeography of the group.

Resumen Coleoptera es uno de los órdenes más diversos en el planeta y Colombia es uno de los países con mayor biodiversidad. La combinación de estos dos factores determina indiscutiblemente una elevada concentración de especies, cuyas consecuencias sólo se conocen parcialmente en el país. En este trabajo se presenta un ensayo sobre la diversidad de coleópteros en Colombia, resaltando el papel de las colecciones entomológicas y los vacíos de información a la hora de abordar la coleóptero-fauna nacional. Esta contribución constituye un punto de partida para que los coleopterólogos de Colombia comencemos a trabajar colectivamente hacia un conocimiento más amplio y menos fragmentado sobre la historia natural, sistemática, ecología y biogeografía del grupo.

Abstract We studied 18 cerambycid beetle species native to South America. Seventeen represent new state records in Brazil. Particularly, Chlorethe scabrosaZajciw, 1963 is newly reported for the state of Rio de Janeiro with exclusion of C. brachypteraZajciw, 1963. The Brazilian state of the type locality of Dufauxia guaicurana Lane, 1955 is fixed. Pirangoclytus mendosus (Galileo & Martins, 1996) is synonymized with P. mniszechii (Chevrolat, 1862), and its holotype is a female. Variation on Trypanidius maculatus Monné & Delfino, 1980 is commented. New country and department records for Paraguay are also provided.

Abstract HovoresteniaSantos-Silva, 2007 is a disteniid genus differentiated from other Neotropical Disteniini by the metatarsomeres II and V subequal in length, in contrast with the metatarsomere V distinctly longer than II in the other genera. So far, the genus is known only from male specimens. The discovery of new Hovorestenia species, represented by both sexes, shows that such current diagnostic character is sexually dimorphic, with metatarsomere V distinctly longer than II in female. The genus Hovorestenia is therefore reviewed and redescribed and two new species are described: H. cleideae, from Colombia and Ecuador, and H. espilota, from Colombia. It allowed to describe the hitherto unknown females and to appoint out sexually dimorphic characters for the first time in the genus. The genus is now composed of four species distributed from the central region of Colombia to Ecuador. Photographs of Hovorestenia species are included and a key to differentiate them is provided.

Abstract Taxonomic notes are provided in some Acanthoderini genera. Three new species are described: Scythropopsis intricata Santos-Silva, Botero and Wappes from Mexico, Aegomorphus robustus Santos-Silva, Botero and Wappes and Eupromerella boliviana Santos-Silva, Botero and Wappes from Bolivia. The following synonymies are proposed: PsapharochrusThomson, 1864 as synonym of Aegomorphus Haldeman, 1847; Acanthoderes (Psapharochrus) albomaculatus Fuchs, 1963 and Acanthoderes griseomaculataZajciw, 1971 as synonyms of Symperasmus alboniger (Bates, 1861); Pteridotelus contaminatus Thomson, 1865 as synonym of Scythropopsis melanostictica (White, 1855); Psapharochrus jameswappesi Tavakilian, 2018 as synonym of Aegomorphus wappesi (Galileo, Martins & Santos-Silva, 2015); and Psapharochrus histrio Casey, 1913 and Psapharochrus guatemalensis Casey, 1913 as synonyms of Aegomorphus circumflexus (Jacquelin du Val, 1857). Acanthoderus circumflexus Jacquelin DuVal, 1857 is proposed as nomen protectum and Acanthocinus rusticus Klug, 1829 as nomen oblitum. Aegomorphus contaminatus (Thomson, 1965) is revalidated. Scythropopsis Thomson, 1864 and Symperasmus Thomson, 1864 are herein elevated to genus rank. The geographical distribution of ten species is expanded and a key to differentiate Acanthoderes, Aegomorphus, Scythropopsis, and Symperasmus is provided.

Abstract A new species of Stizocera (Cerambycinae, Elaphidiini) from Colombia is described and illustrated: Stizocera ruthveronae sp. nov., and an updated key to species of the genus is presented. Moreover, nine species of longhorn beetles of Cerambycinae belonging to Callichromatini, Eburiini, Elaphidiini, Hexoplonini, Neoibidionini, Obriini are reported for the first time for Colombia.

Abstract Twenty three new state records of Cerambycidae are provided for Espírito Santo State, Brazil. Forgotten geographical records for Desmiphora (Desmiphora) cirrosa Erichson, 1847, and Cipriscola fasciata (Thomson, 1860) are mentioned. Notes on Metacriodion capixaba Fragoso, 1970, Potiaete maculata Martins & Galileo, 1999, and Eriphus mexicanus Audinet-Serville, 1834 are presented. The female of Trestonia griseaMartins & Galileo, 1990 is described for the first time. Stenoeme annularisMartins, 1980 is redescribed and a key to species of Stenoeme is provided. Four new species are described from the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo: Microibidion fiuzai, Iquiracetima venturai, Adesmus culiki, and Xenofrea simplicioi.

Abstract Four new species are described from Brazil (Espírito Santo): Xylergates quinquetuberculatus (Acanthocinini); Trichonius w-notatus (Acanthocinini); Pseudobeta casariae (Onciderini); Xenofrea mariae (Xenofreini). RESUMEN La larva del taladrador Leptostylus hilaris Bates, 1872 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) fue colectado en Espinal, departamento de Tolima (Colombia) en plantaciones de árboles de lima ácida Tahití (Citrus latifolia Tanaka-Rutaceae). Este es el primer registro para esta especie en Colombia, y en este hospedante.

ABSTRACT Leptostylus hilaris Bates, 1872 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) or stem borer larvae were found and collected in Espinal, Tolima province (Colombia) in Tahiti lime (Citrus latifolia Tanaka- Rutaceae) tree crops. This is the first record for this species infesting this host plant in Colombia.

Abstract Oxylopsebus Clarke, 2008 is considered as a junior synonym of Oxycoleus Lacordaire, 1868. Equescollum is proposed as a new genus for E. birai sp. nov. from Costa Rica, which is described and illustrated.
