RESUMO O objetivo do trabalho foi testar dietas artificiais para a criação em laboratório de Condylorrhiza vestigialis (Guenée, 1854) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), que é considerada a principal praga de árvores do gênero Populus, no Brasil. Foram testadas três formulações de dietas artificiais com base na dieta desenvolvida por Greene, e duas alterações na dieta proposta por Hoffmann-Campo. Foram avaliados o número de larvas mortas; o número de larvas canibalizadas; a quantidade de pupas mal-formadas; o número de ínstares larvais; a quantidade de pupas inviáveis; o número de adultos mal-formados; e o número de adultos normais. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise estatística ANOVA e ao teste de comparação de médias, Student-Newman-Keuls (SNK), ao nível de 5% de probabilidade de erro, sendo utilizado como delineamento estatístico, o inteiramente casualizado. Também foram avaliados parâmetros biológicos das mariposas alimentadas com cada dieta testada: período de incubação dos ovos (em dias); duração da fase larval, pré-pupa e pupa (em dias); peso das pupas fêmeas e machos com 5 dias de idade (em gramas); razão sexual. A Dieta Base 2 é a mais eficiente e viável dentre as dietas testadas para a criação de Condylorrhiza vestigialis em laboratório, pois é a que proporciona o desenvolvimento mais eficiente durante as etapas do seu ciclo de vida e a que gera maiores quantidades de adultos saudáveis e férteis, possibilitando assim o aumento do número de indivíduos e a manutenção da população.

ABSCTRACT The objective of the work was to test artificial diets for the rearing in the laboratory of Condylorrhiza vestigialis (Guenée, 1854) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), which is considered the main pest of trees of the genus Populus in Brazil. Three formulations of artificial diets were tested based on the diet developed by Greene, and two changes in the diet proposed by Hoffmann-Campo. The number of dead larvae was evaluated; number of cannibalized larvae; amount of malformed pupae; number of larval instars; number of unviable pupae; number of malformed adults; and number of normal adults. The data obtained were submitted to ANOVA statistical analysis and to the means comparison test, Student-Newman-Keuls (SNK), at the level of 5% probability of error, with the statistical design used being completely randomized. The biological parameters of the moths fed with each tested diet were also evaluated: incubation period of the eggs (in days); duration of the larval phase, pre-pupa and pupa (in days); weight of female and male pupae at 5 days of age (in grams); sexual reason. The Base 2 Diet is the most efficient and feasible among the diets tested for the rearing of Condylorrhiza vestigialis in the laboratory, providing the most efficient development during the stages of its life cycle, generating greater quantities of healthy and fertile adults, enabling the increase of the number of individuals and the maintenance of the population.

Resumen El uso del fuego por los productores agrícolas es una práctica común que ha sido utilizada desde tiempos inmemoriales en la mayoría de los países del mundo. El objetivo de este trabajo fue: a) diagnosticar los usos tradicionales del fuego en la Parroquia Ayacucho, Cantón Santa Ana, provincia Manabi, Ecuador, b) verificar la percepción de los agricultores sobre los beneficios y efectos negativos del fuego, c) identificar las medidas de prevención para usar el fuego y como proceden cuando tienen que combatir un fuego no deseado, y d) precisar su participación en capacitaciones sobre uso del fuego e incendios forestales. Las informaciones que forman el diagnostico se obtuvieron aplicando una encuesta semi-estructurada con preguntas abiertas y cerradas a 150 productores rurales de febrero a mayo de 2019. El análisis estadístico se realizó con el programa SPSS Statistics for Windows (Version 22.0). Los resultados muestran que el uso del fuego en la localidad es común, quemándose en fechas específicas todos los anos, aunque noviembre fue el mes mencionado con mayor frecuencia, siendo el área quemada promedio de 1,30 ha. La finalidad más importante del uso del fuego en la localidad es la limpieza de terreno para sembrar o plantar. La prueba de X2 demostró que no existe asociación estadísticamente significativa entre variables que describen las características de los productores y las del uso del fuego. El trabajo permitió obtener información importante y relevante sobre el uso del fuego en la Parroquia Ayacucho, las cuales podrán ser utilizadas por los decisores de las actividades de manejo del fuego.

Abstract The use of fire by agricultural producers is a common practice that has been used since immemorial times in most countries of the world. The objective of this work was: a) to diagnose the traditional uses of fire in the Ayacucho Parish, Santa Ana Canton, Manabi province, Ecuador, b) to verify the farmers perception about the benefits and negative effects of fire, c) to identify prevention measures to use fire and how they proceed when they have to fight an unwanted fire, and d) specify their participation in training sessions on the use of fire and forest fires. The information that forms the diagnosis was obtained by applying a semi-structured survey with open and closed questions to 150 rural producers from February to May 2019. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS Statistics for Windows (Version 22.0). The results showed that the use of fire in the community is common, burning on specific dates every year, although November was the month most frequently mentioned, the average burned area being 1.30 ha. The most important purpose of using fire in the locality is cleaning the land for sowing or planting. The X2 test showed that there is no statistically significant association between variables that describe the characteristics of the producers and those of the use of fire. The work allowed obtaining important and relevant information on the use of fire in the Ayacucho Parish, which may be used by decision-makers of fire management activities.

Resumo Considerando que a formulação de índices de perigo de incêndios auxilia no planejamento das atividades de prevenção e combate, refletindo de forma antecipada a probabilidade de ocorrência e de propagação dos incêndios florestais, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo realizar o ajuste e validação da Fórmula de Monte Alegre para áreas de cultivo de eucalipto no Estado de São Paulo. Foram utilizados dados de umidade relativa do ar, precipitação pluviométrica e registros de ocorrência de incêndios florestais no período de 11/10/2003 a 29/04/2016. Para a análise, o conjunto de dados foi dividido em duas partes, sendo que as observações entre os anos de 2003 e 2013 (75%) foram utilizadas para o ajuste da FMA, enquanto os dados referentes aos anos de 2014 a 2016 (25%) foram utilizados para validar a nova classificação gerada conforme o estabelecimento dos novos valores limiares de distinção entre a classes de perigo de incêndios. Os resultados demonstraram que o estabelecimento de novos limiares para as definições das classes de perigo proporcionou melhorias na eficiência da Fórmula de Monte Alegre em prever a ocorrência de incêndios na região de estudo.

Abstract Considering that the formulation of fire danger index helps in the planning of prevention and combat activities, revealing, in advance, the probability of occurrence and spread of forest fires. This work aimed to adjust and to validate the Fórmula de Monte Alegre for areas of eucalypt cultivation in the state of São Paulo. Data on relative humidity, rainfall and records of forest fires from 10/11/2003 to 4/29/2016 were used. For the analysis, the data set was divided into two parts, with the observations between years 2003 and 2013 (75%) being used to adjust FMA, while the data referring to the years 2014 to 2016 (25%) were used to validate the new classification generated according to the establishment of the new threshold values of distinction among the fire danger classes. The results showed that the establishment of new thresholds for the definition of the danger classes provided improvements in the efficiency of the Fórmula de Monte Alegre in predicting the occurrence of fires in the study region.

Abstract In the present study, catalytic activity of dense, porous, electrospun membranes of polysulfone (PSF) and polysulfone with sulfonated polystyrene (PSF_PSS) have been evaluated in reactions of esterification of oleic acid with methanol, in times that varied from 10 to 480 minutes. Conversion to biodiesel has been confirmed by FTIR and quantified through gas chromatography. The results showed the catalysts used were effective in the esterification reaction studied and the PSF_PSS electrospun membrane has presented the best conversion to methyl oleate, reaching 70.5% in a 10-minute reaction and 95.8% in a 240-minute reaction, when methanol:oleic acid molar ratio of 10:1, 5% of catalyst and temperature of 100 °C were used. Considering the performance of solid catalysts described in literature, mainly related to reaction times and conversion of the process, this study reveals a promising feasibility of using electrospun membranes of PSF_PSS for developing a heterogeneous acid catalyst aimed to biodiesel synthesis.

Resumo A modificação da paisagem e a fragmentação do habitat tornaram-se grandes temas de pesquisa, uma vez que são consideradas ameaças graves para a biodiversidade. Considerando o histórico de perturbação da área do Parque Estadual do Jalapão (PEJ), dado sua característica de Unidade de Conservação (UC) de proteção integral inserida no bioma Cerrado, o objetivo desta pesquisa é atualizar o mapa de uso e cobertura do solo dessa UC e analisar as métricas que quantificam a conectividade do habitat e a fragmentação da ecologia da paisagem para o ano de 2015, tendo como base o mapa de uso e ocupação do solo do ano 2000. Para elaborar o mapa de uso do solo do PEJ de 2015, utilizou-se a cena 221/67 (órbita/ponto) de 8 de agosto de 2015 do satélite Landsat 8, sensor OLI, por abranger toda a área de estudo e por não ter cobertura de nuvens. No processamento digital das imagens foram realizadas a correção radiométrica, a pré-classificação e a associação das classes de uso do solo, e, posteriormente, classificação supervisionada por meio de interpretação visual. Para verificar a precisão do mapa foi calculado o coeficiente de Kappa, cujo valor foi de 0,92. A partir do mapa atualizado foram realizados os cálculos de índices de ecologia da paisagem referentes à área, tamanho, forma, borda e proximidade dos fragmentos. Os procedimentos foram realizados no software SIG ArcGIS 10.4 por meio da extensão gratuita Patch Analyst 5.2. Com base nos mapas de uso e cobertura do solo e nos índices de ecologia da paisagem, pode-se constatar que houve mudanças na paisagem. Quanto às métricas, conclui-se que a UC se encontra fragmentada, apresenta 564 fragmentos e possui alta heterogeneidade espacial e forma complexa e irregular em razão dos valores de MPS, PSCoV e MSI.

Abstract Landscape modification and habitat fragmentation have become major research topics. They are considered serious threats to biodiversity. The disturbance history of the area of Jalapão State Park (Parque Estadual do Jalapão - PEJ) was analysed given its characteristic as a Conservation Unit (CU) of integral protection inserted into the Cerrado biome. Thus, the objective of this research is to update the map of land use and cover of this CU and analyse the metrics that quantify habitat connectivity and fragmentation in the landscape ecologyfor 2015 based on the land use map for 2000. In order to plot the PEJ's 2015 map of land use, we used the scene 221/67 (orbit/point) of August 8, 2015, from the Landsat 8 satellite, OLI sensor, since it covered the entire study area and did not present cloud cover. In the digital image processing, radiometric correction, pre-classification, and association of classes of soil use were performed. Subsequently, a supervised classification was performed through visual interpretation. To verify map accuracy, the Kappa coefficient was calculated. Its value was 0.92. From the updated map, calculations of landscape ecology indexes were performed considering area, size, shape, border, and proximity of fragments. The procedures were performed using the software GIS ArcGIS 10.4 and the free extension Patch Analyst 5.2. Based on the maps of land use and cover, and indexes of landscape ecology, it is possible to verify that there were changes in the landscape. As for metrics, it can be concluded that the CU is fragmented (564 fragments) and has a high spatial heterogeneity, a complex form, and an irregular shape due to values of MPS, PSCoV and MSI.

ABSTRACT The main aim of this study was to compare the historical profile of forest fires and to elaborate a risk zoning map for the regions of Londrina, Brazil, and Pisa, Italy in the period from 2005 to 2014. The records of fire occurrences were correlated with days of rain and temperature in the study areas. The results showed that 1,435 and 629 fires were recorded in the analyzed period, affecting areas of 3,220.4 and 1,550.8 ha in the regions of Londrina and Pisa, respectively. Data were then spaced in a risk zoning map. Fire occurrences and precipitation presented inverse correlation of 0.76 and 0.81 for Londrina and Pisa, respectively. Temperature showed direct correlation of 0.82 with fire occurrences for Pisa, and inverse correlation of 0.56 for Londrina. The analyzed data may serve as subside for planning fire prevention and combat activities.

RESUMO De modo a determinar o potencial energético dos combustíveis florestais em cultivos de Pinus elliottii, foi analisada a melhor época de coleta deste material em função da umidade, disponibilidade, Poder Calorífico Superior (PCS) e composição química imediata, em parcelas estabelecidas e monitoradas durante um ano na estação experimental de Rio Negro, estado do Paraná. No delineamento experimental, as estações do ano (inverno, verão, primavera e outono) foram consideradas blocos, enquanto as seguintes classes de diâmetro do material combustível os tratamentos: AA, na camada superior; AB, na camada intermediária; AC, na camada inferior, todas com material de diâmetro até 0,7 cm; e a B, com material de 0,71 a 2,5 cm. No campo, foi determinada a massa (base úmida) do material coletado nas subparcelas de 900 cm2 e posteriormente levadas ao laboratório da Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), no qual se procederam as análises referentes à umidade (base seca), Poder Calorífico Superior (PCS) e composição química imediata. Foi recorrido à análise de variância (ANOVA) e ao Teste de Tukey para comparação das épocas (blocos) e das diferentes classes de material combustível (tratamentos). Com baixo teor de umidade e maior quantidade de material disponível, observou-se pelo teste de médias, para todas as classes de material, que o inverno foi a melhor época de coleta. Para a mesma época de coleta foi possível observar pelo PCS e análise da composição química imediata que as médias das classes AA e B foram estatisticamente superiores em relação às demais. A manta apresentou densidade energética considerável (12.275,42.105 kcal.ha-1) para conversão em bioenergia. Pelos resultados do presente estudo observou-se que existe potencial para aproveitamento de resíduos florestais como fonte de energia limpa e renovável.

ABSTRACT In order to determine the potential energy of forest fuels in Pinus elliottii stands, we investigated the best season to collect fuel material considering fuel availability, moisture content, Higher Calorific Value (HCV) and immediate chemical composition, from the plots established and monitored during one year at Rio Negro Research station, Paraná state, Brazil. The year’s seasons (winter, summer, spring and autumn) were considered as experimental blocks while the diameter of the materials (AA, AB and AC) as treatments. These treatments were pre-defined in the following diameter classes: AA, in the upper layer; AB, in the intermediate layer; AC, in the lower layer, all materials up to 0,7 cm; and B, with material of 0.71 to 2.5 cm. The fuel material of all year’s seasons was collected in sub plots of 900 cm2, weighted in the field and taken to the laboratory of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) to carry out the rest of analyzes including: moisture on the dry basis, fuel availability, Higher Calorific Value (HCV) and immediate chemical composition. Analyses of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey test were performed to compare the differences between seasons and material classes. Together with low moisture content and greater fuel availability, the mean test showed that, for all material classes, the winter was the best season to collect forest fuel material of Pinus elliottii stands. The results also showed that, for immediate composition and HCV, the mean class AA and B were statistically superior than the other classes. The fuel loading had a considerable density of energetic (12,275.42.105 kcal. ha-1) for bioenergy conversion and utilization.

RESUMO A floresta urbana gera um microclima mais agradável para o ser humano, tanto no seu interior como nas áreas externas próximas. Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar a influência que as diferentes tipologias de floresta urbana exercem no seu entorno imediato, destacando quantitativamente as diferenças entre o microclima interno e externo a essas áreas. Para isso foram selecionadas diferentes formas de floresta urbana na cidade de Curitiba-PR: Remanescente Florestal, Área Verde Antiga, Área Verde Moderna, Arborização de Ruas e Árvore Isolada. A influência no entorno imediato foi analisada com o método de transectos móveis, percorrendo 500 m de distância de em uma rua adjacente à área selecionada, com coleta de dados a cada 50 m. Os resultados indicam diferenças estatísticas significativas entre o microclima interno e externo às tipologias de floresta urbana. Ao longo do transecto percorrido, a temperatura foi em média 2,3°C mais elevada do que no interior das tipologias de floresta urbana, a umidade relativa foi menor em 4,6 unidades e a velocidade do vento 0,2 m/s maior. A maior diferença de temperatura e umidade relativa entre o ambiente interno e externo foi encontrada no Remanescente Florestal e a menor na Arborização de Ruas. Conclui-se que as diferentes tipologias de floresta urbana exercem influência significativa no microclima do entorno imediato.

ABSTRACT The urban forest generates a microclimate more pleasant for the human being, in its interior as in the near external areas. Thus, the main goal of this research was to analyze the influence that the different typologies of urban forest exert in their immediate surrounding, highlighting quantitatively the differences between the internal and external microclimate to these areas. For this, areas of different types of urban forest were selected in the city of Curitiba-PR: Remaining Forest, Old Green Area, Modern Green Area, Street Trees and Isolated Tree. The influence in the immediate surrounding was analyzed with the mobile transect method, traveling 500 m away from a street adjacent to the selected area, with data collection every 50 m. The results indicate statistical differences between the internal and external microclimate to the typologies of urban forest. During the transect, the temperature was on average 2.3 ° C higher than in the interior of the urban forest typologies, the relative humidity was lower in 4.6 units and the wind velocity 0.2 m / s higher. The greatest difference in temperature and relative humidity between the internal and external environment was found in the Remaining Forest and the smallest in the Street Trees. It is concluded that the different typologies of urban forest exert a significant influence on the immediate surrounding microclimate.

RESUMO A região da Estepe Gramíneo-Lenhosa no Paraná, também conhecida por Campos Gerais, cobre aproximadamente 20.000 km2 do Estado, compondo uma zona fitogeográfica com vegetação de campos limpos adaptada a ambientes relativamente secos. Apresenta elevado perigo de incêndios, especialmente após o inverno, quando a massa de material morto e as condições meteorológicas favorecem a propagação do fogo. O presente estudo teve por objetivo caracterizar o material combustível fino dessa vegetação. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida na Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural (RPPN) Caminho das Tropas, localizada no município de Palmeira - PR. As coletas de material foram feitas em 35 pontos distribuídos em uma área de 25 hectares, sendo realizadas 4 amostragens durante um ano nas estações do outono, inverno, primavera e verão. Foram consideradas 3 classes de material para análise: vivo, morto e miscelânea. A carga média de material fino obtida foi de 10,985 Mg.ha-1 (megagrama por hectare) a qual se encontra dentro da faixa de valores obtidos por diversos autores para a vegetação de campos, que pode variar de 4,90 Mg.ha-1a 13,80 Mg.ha-1. O teor de umidade manteve-se praticamente constante para o material vivo nas 4 estações do ano, enquanto para as demais classes houve variações, sendo mais acentuadas para a estação do verão. Quanto à proporção de material vivo, morto e miscelânea em relação ao total de material coletado em cada estação, o material morto manteve-se estável, enquanto o material vivo e a miscelânea apresentaram diferenças estatísticas significativas. Os resultados obtidos contribuem para o conhecimento do material combustível da região da Estepe no Paraná, sendo subsídio para a avaliação do comportamento do fogo e para a prevenção e combate a eventuais incêndios que venham a ocorrer nessa vegetação.

ABSTRACT The Grassy-Woody Steppe region of Paraná, also known as “Campos Gerais”, covers approximately 20,000 km2 of the state, composing a phytogeographic zone with vegetation adapted to relatively dry environments. It presents high danger of fires, especially after the winter, when the dead fuel accumulation and the meteorological conditions favor the propagation of fire. The present study aimed to characterize the fine fuel material of this vegetation. The research was developed in the Private Natural Heritage Reserve “Caminho das Tropas” (coordinated UTMs 620334 and 7196739), located in Palmeira municipality, Brazil. Fuel collections were done in 35 points distributed in an area of 25 hectares, being carried out 4 samplings during a year in the seasons of autumn, winter, spring and summer. Three classes of fuels were considered for analysis: live fuel, dead fuel and miscellaneous. The average load of thin fuels obtained was 10,985 Mg.ha-1 (megagramm per hectare), which is within the range of values obtained by several authors for field vegetation, which can vary from 4.90 to 13.80 Mg.ha-1. The moisture content remained practically constant for living fuels in the four seasons of the year, while for the other classes the variations were more accentuated in the summer season. For the proportion of live fuel, dead fuel and miscellaneous in relation to the total fuel collected at each season, the dead fuel remained stable while the live fuel and the miscellaneous presented significant statistical differences. The results contribute to the knowledge of the fuel material of the Paraná steppe region, as well as, for the fire behavior evaluation to prevent or control fires that may occur in this vegetation.

RESUMO A melhoria microclimática é frequentemente apontada como um dos benefícios gerados pela arborização urbana. No entanto, ainda são poucos os estudos que abordam quantitativamente essa questão. O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi quantificar a diferença microclimática entre ruas arborizadas e sem arborização, para cada estação do ano e arranjo paisagístico. Para isto foram selecionados três locais, contendo um trecho de rua com e sem arborização. Cada local apresentava diferentes espécies compondo os arranjos paisagísticos: Tipuana tipu, Handroanthus chrysotrichus e Lafoensia pacari com Parapiptadenia rigida. Para o monitoramento das variáveis meteorológicas, uma miniestação da marca Kestrel® permaneceu na rua arborizada e a outra na rua sem arborização. A coleta desses dados foi das 9 às 15 horas, com intervalo de monitoramento de 1 minuto, repetida nas quatro estações do ano, com início no inverno de 2011. As variáveis microclimáticas analisadas foram: temperatura, umidade relativa e velocidade do vento. Os resultados indicaram que a maior diferença de temperatura foi observada na estação do verão (2,5°C) e a menor no inverno (1,2°C). Para a umidade relativa, as diferenças ficaram entre 6,4% (primavera) e 5,6% (inverno) e para a velocidade do vento a maior diferença foi encontrada na estação do inverno (0,17 m/s). O arranjo paisagístico que utiliza o plantio com Tipuana tipu nos dois lados da rua, plantadas de modo a fazer com que suas copas se entrelacem e formem um túnel, é a melhor escolha para se buscar um microclima mais agradável em todas as estações do ano.

ABSTRACT Microclimate improvement is frequently stated as one of the benefits generated by urban forestry. However, there are still few studies that quantitatively approach this issue. The goal of this study was to quantify the microclimatic difference between streets with and without trees, for each season and landscaping type. For this, three locations were chosen. Each location showed different species composing landscaping types: Tipuana tipu, Handroanthus chrysotrichus, and Lafoensia pacari with Parapiptadenia rigida. A Kestrel® mini station was placed on a street with trees and another one on a street without trees. The daily period for collecting this data was from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with monitoring intervals of 1 minute, repeated during the four seasons of the year, beginning in the winter of 2011. The microclimatic variables analyzed were temperature, relative humidity and wind speed. The results indicated that the streets with trees always had lower temperatures and greater relative humidity values than the streets without trees. The greatest temperature difference was observed in the summer (2.5 oC) and the smallest one in the winter (1.2 oC). For relative humidity, the differences were between 6.4% (spring) and 5.6% (winter), and for wind speed the greatest difference was found in the winter (0.17m/s). Landscaping that uses Tipuana tipu on both sides of the street, planted in a way such as to make their canopies entangle and form a tunnel, is the best choice for a more pleasant microclimate in all seasons of the year.

RESUMO Este trabalho foi desenvolvido com objetivo de avaliar o desempenho dos índices de Nesterov e Fórmula de Monte Alegre (FMA) no ambiente Lichinga (norte de Moçambique), de modo a sugerir o melhor índice a ser usado nesta região. Para a materialização desta pesquisa, foram usados dados meteorológicos diários (temperatura, precipitação e umidade relativa) e dados de registro de ocorrências dos incêndios florestais de um período de três anos (2010 a 2012). Os dados meteorológicos foram fornecidos pelo Instituto de Investigação Agronômica de Moçambique em Lichinga (IIAM-Lichinga) e o banco de dados de registro de ocorrências de incêndios foi providenciado pelo Centro de Controle e Monitoramento de Incêndios Florestais (CCMIF), da empresa Chikweti Forest of Niassa. Na sequência, foram calculados os índices de perigo de incêndios e o grau de perigo diário para os dois índices, tendo-se observado a predominância do grau de perigo muito alto em quase todos os anos, com um porcentual de 52,65% para o FMA e 37,96% para o índice Nesterov. Com valores de Skill Score (SS) de 0,11 e Porcentagem de Sucesso (PS) de 44,82%, o índice Nesterov mostrou melhor desempenho para o ambiente de Lichinga, ao contrário do FMA que apresentou um fraco desempenho com os valores de 0,07 de SS e 35,62% de PS.

ABSTRACT This study was conducted in order to evaluate the performance of Nesterov indexes and of Monte Alegre formula (FMA) in Lichinga environment (northern Mozambique) in order to suggest the best index to be used in this region. To do so, we used daily meteorological data (temperature, precipitation and relative humidity) and registration data of forest fire occurrences in a period of three years (2010 - 2012). Meteorological data were provided by the Mozambican Agricultural Research Institute of Mozambique in Lichinga (IIAM-Lichinga), whereas the data base of fire occurrence record was provided by the Center for Monitoring and Control of Forest Fires (CCMIF) of the company Chikweti Forest of Niassa After that Then, fire danger indexes and the degree of daily danger were calculated for both indexes, where it was observed the predominance of very high degree of danger in almost every year, with a percentage of 52.65% for the FMA and 37.96% for Nesterov index. Along with values of Skill Score (SS) of 0.11 Percent Success (PS) of 44.82%, Nesterov index showed best performance for this region unlike FMA, that presented a weak performance with values of 0, 07 of SS and 35.62%of PS.

RESUMO A implantação de áreas com vegetação arbórea tem sido proposta como forma de melhorar as condições climáticas das cidades. Contudo, ainda não se conhece quais os componentes da floresta urbana proporcionam efeitos mais satisfatórios. O objetivo da pesquisa foi determinar quais os componentes da paisagem proporcionam maior influência no microclima e no potencial de arrefecimento da floresta urbana. Para isso foram selecionadas áreas de diferentes tipologias de floresta urbana. Com o método de pontos fixos foi analisado o microclima das áreas e por meio de transectos móveis, um percurso com 500 m de caminhamento em rua adjacente, foi possível analisar a influência no entorno imediato, determinando o potencial de arrefecimento. Os resultados indicaram que o número de indivíduos e a densidade arbórea das áreas apresentaram forte correlação estatística com os valores de temperatura e umidade relativa, bem como com o potencial de arrefecimento. Além disso, verificou-se que 70% da influência que a floresta urbana proporciona no entorno imediato pode ser explicado pelo número de árvores. Conclui-se que o número e a densidade de indivíduos foram os componentes das tipologias de floresta urbana que exerceram maior influência no microclima, bem como no efeito de arrefecimento.

ABSTRACT Planting areas with arboreal vegetation has been proposed as a way to improve the climatic conditions of cities. However, it is not yet known which components of urban forest provide more satisfactory effects. The main goal of this study was to determine which components of the landscape provide greater influence on the microclimate and the cooling potential of the urban forest. For this, areas of different types of urban forest were selected. Using the fixed points method, the microclimate of the areas was analyzed, and by means of mobile transects walking a route of 500 m in an adjacent street, it was possible to analyze the influence in the immediate environment, determining the potential of cooling. The results indicated that the number of individuals and the tree density of the areas showed a statistically strong correlation with the temperature and relative humidity values, as well as with the cooling potential. In addition, it was found that 70% of the influence that the urban forest provides on the immediate surroundings can be explained by the number of trees. It is concluded that the number and density of individuals were the components of urban forest typologies that exerted greater influence on the microclimate, as well as on the cooling effect.

RESUMO O registro de ocorrência dos incêndios florestais possibilita o planejamento de atividades de prevenção e combate, minimizando os danos. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram: determinar o número de incêndios atendidos pelas brigadas de incêndios da Klabin, no período de 1965 a 2009; determinar a distribuição temporal dos incêndios; identificar as causas prováveis; e identificar as principais classes de locais afetados. Para isso, foram analisados os registros de ocorrência de incêndios fornecidos pela Klabin, bem como dados meteorológicos do IAPAR para o período analisado. Os resultados permitiram concluir que, no período de 1965 a 2009, foram registrados 2.313 incêndios que atingiram 6.197 ha, com redução da área afetada ao longo do período. Os meses de julho, agosto e setembro apresentaram o maior número de ocorrências, totalizando 1.183 (51,2%) incêndios. As ocorrências estão distribuídas ao longo da semana de forma homogênea, concentradas ao longo do dia das 11 às 18 horas (72,8% do total). As principais causas dos incêndios foram incendiários (54,2%) e queimas para limpeza (16,2%). A vegetação mais suscetível foi o pinus, com 41,3% das ocorrências e 22,5% da área afetada. Apesar de um grande número de ocorrências no eucalipto (22,2%), a área atingida foi menor que a de "outras espécies plantadas" (20,4%) e da capoeira (19,3%). Conclui-se que houve uma melhoria do sistema de proteção, considerando o aumento da área protegida e a diminuição da área afetada pelos incêndios. Ações de prevenção direcionadas aos incendiários e queimas para limpeza, sobretudo nos períodos de maior perigo, são necessárias.

ABSTRACT The records of fire occurrence enables planning for prevention and control, minimizing the damages. The objectives of this study were: determine the number of fires attended by fire brigades of Klabin in the period of 1965 to 2009, determine the fires temporal distribution, identify the probable causes, and identify the main classes of affected vegetation. To do so, records of fire occurrence provided by Klabin, as well as IAPAR meteorological data for the period were analyzed. The results showed that in the period of 1965 to 2009, there were 2,313 occurrences that affected 6,197 ha, with a reduction of the affected area over the period. The months of July, August and September presented the highest number of occurrence, totaling 1,183 (51.2%) fires. The events were uniformly distributed throughout the week, concentrated from 11 to 18 hours (72.8% of total). The main causes of fires were arson (54.2%), followed by cleaning burns (16.2%). The pine was the more susceptible vegetation, with 41.3% of the occurrences and 22.5% of the affected area. Although a large number of events occurred in eucalyptus (22.2%), the affected area was smaller than that "other planted species" (20.4%) and secondary forest (19.3%). In conclusion, there was an improvement of the protection system, considering the increase of the protected area and the decrease in the area affected by fires. Preventive actions directed to arsonists and agricultural burning, especially in periods of danger are needed.

De modo a entender a influência das florestas urbanas na variação termo-higrométrica da área intraurbana da cidade de Curitiba, este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a variação temporal e espacial da temperatura e da umidade relativa do ar em cada estação do ano e relacioná-la com a presença das florestas urbanas. Para a coleta dos dados meteorológicos foram estabelecidos 44 pontos de monitoramento em quatro transectos na malha urbana da cidade. Nestes pontos foram instalados miniabrigos meteorológicos com sensores modelo Hobo(r), fixados nas hastes de sinaleiros e placas de sinalização. O monitoramento da temperatura e umidade relativa do ar foi realizado em períodos correspondentes às quatro estações do ano, com 22 dias de coleta e registro contínuo de dados em intervalos de 15 minutos. Nos quatro transectos analisados na área intraurbana de Curitiba foram encontradas diferenças termo-higrométricas significativas entre os pontos de monitoramento em todos os períodos analisados. Mesmo nas estações do ano de mais baixas temperaturas, o outono e o inverno, foram encontradas diferenças térmicas, relacionadas ao calor antropogênico. Pela análise do perfil longitudinal das temperaturas, observou-se curva semelhante ao perfil clássico das ilhas de calor urbano, com as maiores temperaturas nos locais com maior intensidade de ocupação e atividades antrópicas, como na área central e região centro-sul. As menores temperaturas foram encontradas em bairros residenciais e periféricos, como nas porções norte e noroeste do município e limite sul, além de se evidenciar o efeito do resfriamento das florestas urbanas presentes na área intraurbana, como os Parques Municipais Barigui e São Lourenço. As regiões com maior quantidade de áreas permeáveis, concentração de remanescentes florestais ou espaços verdes públicos apresentaram menores temperaturas e aumento da umidade relativa do ar.

In order to understand the influence of urban forests in the thermo-hygrometric variation in the intra-urban area of the city of Curitiba, this study aimed to analyze the temporal and spatial variation of temperature and relative air humidity in each season and relate it with the presence of urban forests. For the collection of meteorological data were established 44 monitoring points in four transects in the urban mesh. In these points, mini-shields with Hobo(r) loggers were installed at fixed points on sign and traffic light posts. The temperature and relative air humidity monitoring was conducted during periods corresponding to the four seasons, with 22 days to collect and continuous data record at 15 minute intervals. In the four transects analyzed in the intra-urban area of Curitiba significative differences were found between the thermo-hygrometric monitoring points in all periods analyzed. Even in seasons of lower temperatures, autumn and winter, thermal differences were related to anthropogenic heat. The analysis of the longitudinal profile of the temperature revealed a curve similar to classic profile of urban heat islands, with the highest temperatures in more densely occupied areas and human activities, such as in the city center and south-center area. The lowest temperatures were found in residential districts and the suburbs, such as in the north and northwest areas of the city and the southern city border, in addition to the evidence of the cooling effect of urban forests present in the intra-urban area, as 'Barigui' and 'São Lourenço Parks'. The regions with the largest of permeable areas, concentration of forest remnants or public green space had lower temperatures and increased the relative air humidity.

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar a tendência das variáveis meteorológicas em ruas de Curitiba-PR, com e sem arborização. Para tanto, foram selecionados trechos (arborizados e sem arborização) de ruas dos bairros Alto da Rua XV, Hugo Lange e Bacacheri. Utilizaram-se duas miniestações meteorológicas da marca Kestrel®. A coleta dos dados meteorológicos ocorreu das 9 às 15 horas, com intervalo de monitoramento de um minuto, repetida nas quatro estações do ano, com início no inverno de 2011. As variáveis microclimáticas analisadas foram: temperatura do ar, umidade relativa e velocidade do vento. Os resultados indicaram que os valores de temperatura do ar das ruas arborizadas estiveram abaixo dos valores das ruas sem arborização ao longo de todo o período de monitoramento. O inverso ocorreu para a umidade relativa. A velocidade do vento apresentou padrão variável dentro de cada amostra e estação. Com a tendência destas variáveis, pode-se concluir que a arborização de ruas proporciona um microclima urbano mais ameno durante a maior parte do dia.

In this study, we aimed to analyze the periodic variation of meteorological variables in tree-lined streets in Curitiba, Parana state, Brazil. To this end, we selected a few stretches of streets with and without trees. Two Kestrel® mini weather stations were used. The data collection period was from 9 AM to 3 PM with 1-minute monitoring interval during the four seasons, starting in winter 2011. The microclimatic variables assessed were temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed. The results indicated that the temperature values for the tree-lined street stretches were lower than those for the stretches without trees along the entire monitoring period. The opposite occurred with the relative humidity values. The wind speed values varied according to each sample and station. In conclusion, the periodic variation of meteorological variables showed that tree-lined streets provide a milder microclimate during most of the day.
