Resumo O objetivo do estudo é analisar as percepções de estudantes do ensino superior sobre um processo educativo com foco na primeira infância, mediado pela contação de histórias em uma abordagem interprofissional. A metodologia adotada foi o estudo de caso único, do tipo avaliativo. Participaram estudantes de graduação de uma universidade pública no Nordeste do Brasil. Os dados foram coproduzidos a partir de um processo educativo, interprofissional, em formato híbrido, mediado por histórias infantis, chamado Naveghi. As atividades incluíram encontros on-line na plataforma Google Meet ® e atividades práticas presenciais em espaços comunitários de cuidado às crianças e famílias. Os instrumentos de coleta de dados foram: 1) carta de interesses individuais; 2) formulário inicial e final; 3) narrativas e produções ao longo dos encontros teóricos e práticos; 4) portfólio individual e 5) grupo focal avaliativo. A análise de dados foi realizada com categorização a partir do referencial de Vygotsky. Os estudantes destacaram elementos afetivos e conhecimentos sobre suas infâncias, ampliaram competências relacionadas ao cuidado com a criança e família, como a comunicação e escuta qualificada em ações conjuntas e interprofissionais com mediação da contação de histórias. A contação de histórias mostrou-se uma potencial ferramenta para o processo de ensino-aprendizagem com estudantes do ensino superior, com integração de afetos e emoções. Abstract This study aimed to analyze higher education students’ perceptions about an educational process focused on early childhood, mediated by storytelling in an interprofessional approach. The methodology adopted was a single case study of the evaluative type. Undergraduate students from a public university in northeastern Brazil participated. The data were co-produced from an interprofessional educational process, in a hybrid format, mediated by children’s stories, called Naveghi. The activities included online meetings on Google Meet® and in-person practical activities in community spaces for caring for children and families. The data collection instruments were: 1) individual interest letter; 2) initial and final forms; 3) narratives and productions throughout the theoretical and practical meetings; 4) individual portfolio; and 5) evaluative focus group. Data analysis was performed with categorization based on Vygotsky’s framework. Students highlighted emotional elements and knowledge about their childhoods, and expanded their skills related to child and family care, such as communication and qualified listening in joint and interprofessional actions mediated by storytelling. Storytelling proved to be a potential tool for the teaching-learning process with undergraduate students, with the integration of affections and emotions. Abstract Introduction Vocal fold polyps are one of themost frequent benign laryngeal lesions, impacting the quality of life of those affected by them, primarily the vocal production. Despite being a well-established therapy in conjunction with surgery, speech therapy alone may also be effective in treating these lesions. As such, otolaryngologists and speech therapists need updated bibliographic knowledge on the issue. Objective To describe the literature findings on vocal fold polyps that discuss prevalence, etiology, histology, physiopathology, vocal characteristics or treatment. Data Synthesis The present study is a review article based on a bibliographic search using platforms, databases and search engines, with no restrictions on means of publication, methodological quality or language. All the articles on vocal fold polyps pertaining to the object of study published in the past 15 years were included. Among the characteristics investigated, the most discussed were prevalence of men, smoking as an etiological cofactor, the possibility of histological differentiation from vocal nodules, the relationship with cover minor structural alterations, and the indication and effectiveness of different treatment options. Conclusion Despite the discrepancies found in the present literature review on vocal fold polyps, there has been a notable scientific progress in the otolaryngologic techniques and in the effectiveness of speech therapy as initial treatment, with direct and indirect techniques, corroborating the need for scientific investigation of the issue.

Resumo O comprometimento cognitivo leve se caracteriza como forma intermediária entre a alteração ocasionada pela idade e a demência. Para o idoso, autonomia e independência estão relacionadas à capacidade de se manter ativo na realização das suas atividades sociais e, para que isso aconteça, a comunicação se torna fundamental neste processo. Objetivo: Avaliar a relação entre comunicação e desempenho dos idosos com comprometimento cognitivo leve na realização das atividades instrumentais da vida diária. Métodos: Estudo transversal, quantitativo, analítico e correlacional, realizado na Universidade aberta à Terceira Idade da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Participaram do estudo 92 pessoas, sendo 46 idosos com comprometimento cognitivo leve e seus respectivos cuidador ou familiar que atenderam aos critérios de inclusão. Aos idosos, foram aplicados o questionário sociodemográfico e a Escala de Lawton-Brody; e, a seus informantes, a escala de Avaliação Funcional das Habilidades Comunicativas. As seguintes variáveis foram estudadas: habilidades de comunicação social e atividades instrumentais de vida diária. Os dados foram organizados em planilha Excel® 2007 e para análise estatística foi aplicado o Teste de Correlação de Pearson. Resultados: Evidenciou-se correlação estatisticamente significativa em quatro domínios da comunicação social, a saber: nomeia pessoas familiares pelo nome (p=0,0033); solicita informação sobre pessoas ou acontecimentos (p=0,0355); compreende conversas em ambiente barulhento (p=0,0448) e, compreende o que assiste na televisão ou ouve no rádio (p=0,0127). Conclusão: as alterações existentes na comunicação de idosos com comprometimento cognitivo leve interferem na capacidade de realização de atividades instrumentais com autonomia e independência.

Abstract Mild Cognitive Impairment is characterized as an intermediate form between age-related change and dementia. For the elderly, autonomy and independence are related to the ability to remain active in conducting their social activities and, for this to occur, communication is fundamental in this process. Objective: To assess the association between communication and the abilities of elderly people with mild cognitive impairment to perform instrumental activities of daily living. Methods: A cross-sectional, quantitative, analytical, correlational study was conducted at the Open University of the Third Age (UnATI), a program of the Federal University of Pernambuco. This study included 92 people, comprising 46 elderly with mild cognitive impairment and a caregiver or family member who met the inclusion criteria. The elderly were asked to complete a sociodemographic questionnaire and Lawton-Brody’s Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Scale. The caregivers were asked to complete the Functional Assessment of Communication Skills. The following variables were studied: social communication skills and instrumental activities of daily living. Data were stored in an Excel® 2007 spreadsheet, and the Pearson correlation test was used for the statistical analysis. Results: There were statistically significant correlations in four domains of social communication: referring to family members by name (p=0.0033); requesting information about people or events (p=0.0355); understanding conversations in a noisy environment (p=0.0448); and understanding what they watch on television or listen to on the radio (p=0.0127). Conclusion: Changes in the communication of elderly people with mild cognitive impairment interfere with their ability to perform instrumental activities autonomously and independently.

RESUMO Objetivo: identificar a associação entre hábito alimentar e desenvolvimento da fala em crianças pré-escolares. Métodos: estudo do tipo caso-controle, com amostra constituída por 273 crianças matriculadas nos Centros Municipais de Educação Infantil da cidade do Recife. Foi pesquisada a associação do desfecho com variáveis referentes a características socioeconômicas, hábitos de sucção nutritiva e não nutritiva e desenvolvimento do sistema estomatognático. Foram utilizados os softwares STATA/SE 9.0 e Excel 2007 para calcular a medida de risco, OddsRatio, o intervalo de confiança de 95% e o valor de p≤0,05. Para verificar a existência de associação, aplicou-se o teste qui-quadrado para variáveis categóricas. Resultados: no que se refere às alterações de fala, verificou-se associação significante no sexo masculino. Já os hábitos de sucção não se associaram significantemente com o desfecho estudado. Com relação ao sistema estomatognático, registra-se associação significante às alterações de fala, principalmente no que concerne à postura habitual de lábios e língua, assim como com a presença de oclusopatias. Não houve associação significante entre a variável de consistência alimentar e o evento estudado. Conclusão: a consistência alimentar demonstrou associação significante com variáveis que impactam na fisiologia adequada do sistema estomatognático, em termos de órgãos fonoarticulatórios e desempenho de funções, podendo-se inferir que padrão alimentar e fala constituem ponto de convergência na saúde infantil.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to identify the association between dietary habits and speech development in preschool children. Methods: case-control study, with sample constituted of 273 children enrolled in Municipal Daycare Centers in Recife. It was researched the association of outcome with the variables related to socioeconomic characteristics, nutritive and not nutritious sucking habits and development of the stomatognathic system. We used the software STATA/SE 9.0 and Excel 2007 to calculate the risk measure, Odds Ratio with a confidence interval of 95%, plus the value of p≤0.05. To verify the existence of association, it was adopted the chi-square test for categorical variables. Results: concerning the speech disorders, it was verified significant association in males. Yet, sucking habits were not significantly associated with the outcome studied. Regarding the stomatognathic system, it was registered significant association on speech disorders, especially regarding the habitual posture of the lips and tongue, as well as the presence of malocclusion. There was no significant association between food consistency and the variable studied event. Conclusion: the food consistency demonstrated a significant association with variables that impact on the proper physiology of the stomatognathic system, in terms of phono-articulatory organs and function performance, can be inferred that eating patterns and speech constitute a convergence point in child health.

RESUMO O recém-nascido pré-termo apresenta imaturidades que podem acarretar intercorrências ou comprometimentos ao longo de seu desenvolvimento. Estas imaturidades frequentemente resultam em uma sucção ineficiente e reflexos orais insatisfatórios. A mãe que não amamenta comumente vive dor e sofrimento. Inúmeras pesquisas têm buscado apontar as dificuldades encontradas para início da amamentação natural de prematuros, porém esses estudos não buscam o relato materno acerca das dificuldades encontradas. O presente estudo teve como objetivo estudar o processo de amamentação natural em recém-nascido pré-termo ressaltando o discurso materno sobre o tema. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura na língua portuguesa, com dados coletados nas bases de dados SCIELO, BIREME e LILACS no período de abril a julho de 2014, por meio das palavras-chave dificuldade, aleitamento materno, amamentação, prematuro, pré-termo. Foram incluídos os periódicos de saúde publicados na língua portuguesa no período de 2004 a 2014, que consideram o relato da nutriz acerca das dificuldades encontradas. As dificuldades encontradas para início da amamentação natural em prematuros sob a ótica materna podem estar associadas à funcionalidade da mama, às questões particulares das nutrizes, ou ainda às inadaptações do recém-nascido. Não foram encontrados relatos que descrevem os profissionais que atuaram nesse processo, tampouco a participação do fonoaudiólogo no desenvolvimento motor-oral dessas crianças. Observa-se na literatura poucos trabalhos que contemplam o relato materno acerca das dificuldades encontradas para amamentar o prematuro. Sendo assim, o estudo aponta a necessidade de reflexão acerca das práticas profissionais, no sentido de valorizar a prática da escuta a essas usuárias.

ABSTRACT The premature newborn shows immaturities that can cause problems or implications throughout its growth or avoid some organ function or some corporal system. This immaturity often results in inefficient sucking and unsatisfactory oral reflexes, causing delay in the growth and in its developing. The mother who doesn't nurse commonly lives pain and suffering. A lot of studies have searched the complications found to the starting of natural nursing for premature children, but these studies don't search the maternal account about these difficulties found. This study aimed to studying the natural nursing process to the preterm child pointing the maternal account. It sort about a full review in the Portuguese Language using information based in SCIELO, BIREME and LILACS from April to July in 2014 through the key-words 'difficulty, maternal nursing, premature. It has included some Health magazines and periodic, published in Portuguese between 2004 and 2014, which considerate the Nutrient account concerning the difficulties found. The difficulties found to the starting of the natural nursing to premature newborn babies, according the maternal view can be associated to the breast operation, to the Nurses particular questions and also associated to the new-born babies. We're not found any account describing the professionals who worked in this process, neither speech therapists participation in the motor-oral development in these children. Can be observed in the literature few works and searches contemplating the maternal accounts about the difficulties found to nursing the premature baby. Thus, this work points the necessity of reflection about our professional practices, emphasizingthe listening practice and its users.

RESUMO: O objetivo dessa revisão de literatura foi verificar a efetividade da fonoterapia no tratamento do pólipo em pregas vocais, a partir de levantamento bibliográfico. Foi realizada pesquisa bibliográfica na plataforma PublicMedline e nas bases de dados Scopus, Science Direct, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature e Web of Science, seguindo etapas de seleção e análise crítica dos artigos. Foram incluídos artigos originais que utilizaram a fonoterapia como tratamento para o pólipo vocal, sem restrições de data de publicação ou língua. Foram excluídos artigos que abordassem exclusivamente outros tratamentos para pólipo vocal e os que utilizaram a fonoterapia somente após a cirurgia laríngea. Foram encontrados inicialmente 905 artigos. Após as etapas de seleção, restaram nove artigos na composição final da amostra. Foram então analisados na íntegra, cadastrados por meio de protocolo previamente elaborado que contemplou autor, ano, local, tipo de estudo, amostra, classificação do pólipo, tipo de intervenção e principais resultados. Os artigos analisados apresentaram fragilidade metodológica e ausência de padronização quanto aos protocolos e procedimentos fonoaudiológicos utilizados. Foram constituídos em sua maioria por série de casos retrospectiva. A amostra dos estudos variou em relação à quantidade de participantes, tipo de lesão e tipo de pólipo. A fonoterapia para o tratamento do pólipo em pregas vocais demonstrou efetividade entre 38% e 100% nos estudos analisados, com melhores resultados em lesões pequenas e recentes.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to verify the effectiveness of speech therapy in the treatment of vocal fold polyps by reviewing existing literature. Literature search was conducted through PublicMedline platform and the Scopus, Science Direct, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature and Web of Science databases, followed by critical pre-selection and deep analysis of the articles. There were included original articles in which the speech therapy was used as treatment for vocal polyp, no publication date or language restrictions. There were excluded studies addressing just other treatments for vocal polyp and also articles in which the speech therapy was used only after laryngeal surgery. A total of 905 articles were found. However, after the selection stages, only nine articles were chosen to be part of the sample. The selected articles were fully analyzed, registered through previously developed protocol. The articles analyzed in this study showed poor methodology and lack of standardization regarding the speech therapy protocols and procedures used. It was consisted mostly by retrospective case series. The sample of studies reviewed presented variation in the number of participants, the type of lesion and type of polyp. The predominant type of intervention in the studies was the direct and indirect speech therapy associated, which demonstrated effectiveness in the treatment of polyps on the vocal folds. Speech therapy for the treatment of vocal fold polyps demonstrated effectiveness between 30% and 100% of the analyzed studies, with better results in small and recent polyps.

Objetivo: Analisar de forma sistemática o conhecimento da doença de Alzheimer (DA) e as estratégias adotadas pelo cuidador para lidar com os sintomas apresentados pelo idoso com DA. Métodos: Levantamento de estudos publicados nas bases de dados PubMed, MedLine, Lilacs e SciELO, utilizando os seguintes descritores e termos livres para estratégia de busca, de acordo com suas definições no DeCS e no MeSH: “cuidadores” or “educação em saúde” or “treinamento” or “cuidadores de idosos” and “doença de Alzheimer”; “elderly caregiving” or “training” or “health education” or “caregivers” and “Alzheimer disease”; “cuidadores de personas mayores” or “formación” or “educación en salud” or “cuidadores” and “enfermedad de Alzheimer”. Resultados: Foram eleitos 12 artigos para análise e leitura na íntegra. Os artigos foram classificados em três categorias: 1) Conhecimento acerca do declínio cognitivo e funcional da doença de Alzheimer; 2) Conhecimento acerca dos sintomas psicológicos e comportamentais da demência (SPCD); 3) Conhecimento acerca do comprometimento da linguagem. Na maioria dos estudos, verificou-se que a orientação a respeito do que é a enfermidade e a sua evolução pode interferir na maneira como o cuidador planeja e executa as ações de cuidado. Conclusão: É extremamente necessário criar oportunidades para que os cuidadores familiares e profissionais conheçam a doença para compreender o paciente e, consequentemente, as possibilidades de atuação (seguras e eficazes) nesse paciente. Isso é possível mediante implementação de programas psicoeducativos capazes de fornecer informações e orientações práticas para melhorar a assistência oferecida por cuidadores aos pacientes com DA.

Objective: To analyze systematically the knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and the strategies used by the caregiver to act on the symptoms presented by the elderly with AD. Methods: Search of articles at PubMed, MedLine, Lilacs and SciELO, using the following keywords and free terms to search strategy, according to their definitions in DeCS and MeSH: “cuidadores” or “educação em saúde” or “treinamento” or “cuidadores de idosos” and “doença de Alzheimer”; “elderly caregiving” or “training” or “health education” or “caregivers” and “Alzheimer disease”; “cuidadores de personas mayores” or “formación” or “educación en salud” or “cuidadores” and “enfermedad de Alzheimer”. Results: We found 12 articles to analyze and reading in full. The articles were classified into three categories: 1) Knowledge about the cognitive and functional decline of Alzheimer’s disease; 2) Knowledge about the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD); 3) Knowledge about language impairment. In most studies, it was found that the orientation about the disease and its evolution can interfere with how the caregiver plans and executes the actions of care. Conclusion: It is extremely necessary to create opportunities for family caregivers and professionals know the disease to understand the patient and the possibilities for action (safe and effective) with him. It is possible through implementing psychoeducational programs that provide information and practical guidance to improve the care provided by caregivers of patients with AD.

OBJETIVO: verificar a associação entre a disfunção oral e os fatores socioeconômicos, variáveis relacionadas à mãe e ao recém-nascido com o desempenho da mamada, durante as primeiras 48 horas de vida. MÉTODOS: estudo transversal, analítico, realizado em uma maternidade pública do Recife-PE. Foram entrevistadas todas as mães de crianças nascidas a termo entre abril e julho de 2008, perfazendo 588 binômios mãe/recém-nascido. A avaliação do sistema sensório motor oral do neonato e avaliação da mamada foram elaboradas, codificando-se como zero quando o item era "esperado/normal" e um quando "não esperado/de risco". A soma total dos itens "não esperados/de risco" resultou em um Índice de Disfunção Oral e um Índice de Avaliação da Mamada. RESULTADOS: verificou-se que 57,3% dos binômios mães/recém-nascidos apresentavam alteração da mamada, 43,9% apresentavam 1 e/ou 2 alterações e 13,4% maior número de alterações. A frequência de disfunção oral foi de aproximadamente 30%. Na análise de regressão logística entre as variáveis incluídas, apenas a disfunção oral manteve-se associada significativamente com o insucesso da mamada. Crianças com maior número alterações da função oral apresentaram chance 4 vezes maior de ter alteração da mamada. CONCLUSÕES: sendo as disfunções orais uma das causas para o não estabelecimento da lactação, estas devem ser identificadas precocemente, visto que podem ser corrigidas, evitando o desmame. As maternidades devem possuir equipe capacitada no manejo do aleitamento, com um profissional que dê atenção especial às alterações do sistema sensório motor oral.

PURPOSE: to check the association between oral dysfunction and socioeconomic factors, variables related to the mother and to the newborn as well breastfeeding performance during the first 48 hours of life. METHODS: a cross-sectional study, analytical, carried out at a public maternity of Recife (PE - Brazil). All mothers of full-term newborns were attended between April and July 2008, totaling 588 mother/infant pairs. The assessment of the oral motor sensory system of the child and breastfeeding performance were developed, coded as a zero when the item was "expected / normal" and one where "not expected and risk." The total sum of the items "not expected and risk" resulted in an Index of Oral Dysfunction and an Index of Breastfeeding Performance. RESULTS: it was found that 57.3% of the mother/infant pairs had change of feeding, 43.9% had 1 and/or 2 changes and 13.4% greater number of changes. The frequency of oral dysfunction was approximately 30%. In logistic regression analysis among the included variables, just the oral dysfunction remained significantly associated with the failure of breastfeeding. Children with many changes in oral function showed a 4 times greater chance to get feeding alteration. CONCLUSIONS: oral dysfunction is one of the causes for non-establishment of lactation, and should be identified early, as it may be corrected, thereby avoiding weaning. The maternity staff should be trained in breastfeeding management, with a healthcare professional that offers special care for abnormalities in the oral motor sensory system.

OBJETIVOS: verificar parâmetros do desenvolvimento sensório motor oral de lactentes no terceiro mês de vida, com e sem o hábito de chupar chupeta, além de identificar a frequência do uso da chupeta entre crianças em aleitamento materno e crianças que iniciaram o desmame. MÉTODOS: estudo observacional com corte transversal, envolvendo 74 bebês que nasceram e estavam realizando acompanhamento no Serviço de Puericultura de uma maternidade da rede pública, Recife-PE. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de entrevista com as mães e observação das crianças. RESULTADOS: as que não utilizavam chupeta apresentaram frequentemente padrão postural global simétrico, melhores respostas aos reflexos orais e língua mais posteriorizada (p=0,034). CONCLUSÃO: constatou-se que as crianças que não utilizaram chupeta apresentaram melhor postura das estruturas orais, como também melhores respostas em relação aos reflexos orais. Nas crianças em aleitamento materno exclusivo foi predominante o não uso da chupeta, havendo associação estatisticamente significante entre o aleitamento materno exclusivo e o não uso da chupeta (p=0,001). Por outro lado, entre as crianças que já haviam iniciado o desmame, o uso da chupeta foi mais frequente.

PURPOSE: to check the parameters of breastfed babies' oral motor sensory development in their third month of life, with and without the pacifier use and identify the periodicity of pacifier use amongst infants being exclusively breastfed and those who already started weaning. METHODS: an observational study with transversal cut, involving 74 babies born at the Public Maternity, in Recife-PE, and being followed by the Child Welfare Service entity. Data were obtained through interviews with the mothers, followed by observation of the infants during their routine out-patient consultations. RESULTS: in this study, the Infants who do not regularly use pacifier, showed standard symmetric global posture, better response to oral reflexes and more posteriorized tongue (p=0.034). The non-usage of pacifier by exclusively breastfed children was predominant. CONCLUSION: it was verified that infants who did not use pacifier showed better oral structures posture, as well as better response in relation to oral reflexes. There was a statistically significant association between exclusive breastfeeding and the non-usage of pacifier (p=0.001). On the other hand, among children in weaning, pacifier usage was more frequent.

OBJETIVO: investigar os aspectos do sistema sensório motor oral de recém-nascidos pré-termos de mães adolescentes, comparando-os com os de mães não adolescentes. MÉTODOS: a amostra foi constituída de 15 mães e 18 recém-nascidos, já que duas das puérperas tiveram gravidezes múltiplas, dos quais, quatro bebês pré-termos são de mães adolescentes e 11 de mães não adolescentes na mesma condição, internos na Maternidade do Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. RESULTADOS: ficou evidente que existe uma inadequada assistência ao pré-natal, tanto das mães adolescentes quanto das mães não adolescentes, podendo estar relacionado a fatores socioeconômicos. Os recém-nascidos que apresentaram muito baixo peso ao nascer têm maior dificuldade quanto à transição da alimentação por sonda para via oral, tanto no grupo de mães adolescentes quanto no de mães não adolescentes. CONCLUSÃO: a imaturidade biológica dos recém-nascidos pré-termos pode levar na sua maioria à imaturidade do sistema sensório motor oral, independente da idade da mãe. As alterações do sistema sensório motor oral encontradas podem ter acontecido devido à quantidade de aparelhos utilizados pelos recém-nascidos. Não houve diferença no peso ao nascimento entre os bebês de mães adolescentes e não adolescentes, podendo ser explicado pela faixa etária das mães adolescentes que se encontraram entre 16 a 19 anos, o que definiu uma homogeneidade do grupo.

METHODS: the sample was constituted of 15 mothers and 18 newborn babies, from which two mothers had multiple pregnancies, 4 preterm babies were born from teenage mothers and the others 11 from non-teenage mothers, all of them in the same condition of interns in the maternity of "Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco". RESULTS: it was evidenced that assistance to pregnancy care is inadequate, both for teenage mothers as well as for non-teenage mothers, and this may be related to socioeconomic factors. The preterm newborns with very low weight have more difficulty during the transition from leaded feeding to oral feeding, both in the group of teenage mothers as well as in the group of non-teenage mothers. CONCLUSION: biological immaturity of the preterm babies can lead, in most cases, to immaturity of the oral motor sensorial system, independently of their mother's age, teenager or not. The found alterations in the oral motor sensorial system may have taken place due to the quantity of medical devices used by the newborns. There was no difference in the weight on birth between teenage mother's babies and those of non-teenage mothers, a fact that may be explained by the homogeneity of the group, composed by mothers between 16 and 19-year old.
