RESUMO Euterpe precatoria Mart. (açaí-do-amazonas) e Euterpe oleracea Mart. (açaí-do-pará) são palmeiras de importância socioeconômica para o Brasil, e a demanda por frutos vem aumentando devido às suas características nutricionais. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito das mudanças climáticas globais na distribuição geográfica atual de E. precatoria e E. oleracea e em cenários climáticos futuros, por meio de modelagem de nicho ecológico, nos âmbitos dos territórios brasileiros. As modelagens foram realizadas utilizando-se 28 variáveis ambientais, incluindo dados climáticos e edáficos. A distribuição atual foi verificada para o período de referência (2009-2019) e as projeções futuras em dois cenários (Shared Socioeconomic Pathways - SSP): SSP 245 (menos pessimista) e SSP 585 (mais pessimista), no intervalo de tempo 2061-2080. Todos os algoritmos apresentaram índices de avaliação satisfatórios. Euterpe precatoria possui distribuição geográfica predominante no domínio Amazônia, enquanto E. oleracea possui ocorrência potencial em três domínios fitogeográficos brasileiros: Amazônia, Cerrado e Mata Atlântica. Euterpe oleracea se mostrou mais sensível às alterações climáticas nos dois cenários, enquanto E. precatoria foi mais resiliente até certo nível de aumento de temperatura (SSP 245). ABSTRACT Euterpe precatória Mart. (açaí-do-amazonas) and Euterpe oleracea Mart. (açaí-do-pará) are palm trees of socioeconomic importance to Brazil, and fruit demand has increased due to its nutritional characteristics. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of global climate change on the current geographic distribution of E. precatória and E. oleracea and in future climate scenarios using the ecological niche modeling in the scope of Brazilian territories. The modelings used 28 environmental variables, including climatic and edaphic data. The current distribution was verified for the reference period (2009-2019) and future projections were evaluated in two scenarios (Shared Socioeconomic Pathways - SSP): SSP 245 (less pessimistic) and SSP 585 (more pessimistic), in the time interval of 2061-2080. Abstract We estimated genetic parameters of two Pinus caribaea var. caribaea progeny tests based on growth traits aiming at the identification of the best selection strategy. This study was conducted in two progeny tests located in Selvíria (MS), Brazil. Tests were set up in block design, one with 76 progenies (area 1) and the other with 99 progenies (area 2). Genetic parameters were estimated using the SELEGEN software through REML/BLUP method. To estimate the genetic gain through selection, four selection methods and ten selection intensities were tested. The intensity of selection that maximizes genetic gain and genetic diversity was calculated by the optimization point. RESUMO As áreas de várzeas amazônicas possuem valor ecológico agregado aos seus múltiplos serviços ecossistêmicos, incluindo o abastecimento de água, regulagem do clima local, biodiversidade com um número acentuado de espécies endêmicas e com diversidade de micro-habitat. Considerando a importância da conservação desses ambientes, este estudo objetivou analisar o comportamento e delimitar as áreas de distribuição natural das espécies florestais Alchornea castaneifolia (Willd.) A. Juss e Laetia corymbulosa (várzea baixa) e Maquira coriacea (H. Karst.) C.C. Berg (Moraceae) e Ocotea cymbarum Kunth (várzea alta), além de avaliar os impactos potenciais das mudanças climáticas sobre a distribuição futura, inferindo sobre a sua conservação. ABSTRACT The areas of Amazonian floodplains have added ecological value to their multiple ecosystem services, including water supply, local climate regulation, biodiversity with a marked number of endemic species, and diversity of micro-habitat. Considering the importance of conserving these environments, this study aimed to analyze the behavior and delimit the areas of the natural distribution of forest species Alchornea castaneifolia (Willd.) A. Juss and Laetia corymbulosa (lowland low), Maquira coriacea (H.Karst.) C.C. Berg (Moraceae), and Ocotea cymbarum Kunth (high floodplain), besides evaluating the potential impacts of climate change on the future distribution inferring on its conservation. RESUMO Urena lobata L. é uma espécie comercial, utilizada para a extração de fibras nos estados do Amazonas e Pará, que apresenta relevante importância socioeconômica para a região Amazônica. Apesar de sua importância e vasta distribuição pelo Brasil, não existem dados sobre a resposta da espécie às mudanças climáticas globais. Objetivou-se apresentar a distribuição geográfica potencial de U. lobata no período atual (2009-2019) e prever áreas de adequabilidade climática para sua ocorrência em dois cenários futuros (RCP 4.5 e RCP 8.5), em dois intervalos de tempo (2020-2050 e 2051-2070), diante das mudanças climáticas globais. Foram utilizadas 19 variáveis bioclimáticas obtidas do WorldClim e quatro algoritmos (Climate Space Model, Envelope Score, Niche Mosaic e Environmental Distance), dos quais o Envelope Score foi o modelo mais representativo para a espécie, para verificar sua ocorrência ao longo dos domínios fitogeográficos brasileiros (Amazônia, Caatinga, Cerrado, Pantanal, Mata Atlântica e Pampa). Observou-se vulnerabilidade para a espécie, já que houve perdas de áreas favoráveis na Amazônia, Pantanal, Mata Atlântica, Cerrado e Caatinga, tornando-se praticamente extinta no pior cenário (RCP 8.5), no ano de 2070. Entretanto, para esse mesmo cenário e ano, observou-se aumento significativo de área no Pampa.

ABSTRACT Urena lobata L. is a commercial species used for fiber extraction in the Brazilian states of Amazonas and Pará that presents relevant socioeconomic importance for the Amazon region. Despite its importance and wide distribution throughout Brazil, there are no data on the species response to global climate change. This study aimed to present the potential geographical distribution of U. lobata in the current period (2009-2019) and predict areas of climatic suitability for its occurrence in two future scenarios (RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5), at two time intervals (2020-2050 and 2051-2070), in the face of global climate change. A total of 19 bioclimatic variables were obtained from the WorldClim database and four algorithms (Climate Space Model, Envelope Score, Niche Mosaic and Environmental Distance), from which the Envelope Score was the most representative model for the species to verify its occurrence along the Brazilian phytogeographic domains (Amazon, Caatinga, Cerrado, Pantanal, Atlantic Forest and Pampa). Vulnerability was observed for the species, since there were losses of favorable areas in the Amazon, Pantanal, Atlantic Forest, Cerrado and Caatinga, becoming practically extinct in the worst scenario (RCP 8.5), in the year 2070. However, for this same scenario and year, there was a significant area increase in the Pampa.

RESUMO Neste trabalho, foi realizada a previsão da distribuição de M. urundeuva Fr. All., com base na região de ocorrência natural da espécie. Suas coordenadas geográficas foram obtidas nas bases de dados online CRIA e SpecialLinks, a partir de artigos científicos e trabalhos de campo realizados pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) em Ilha Solteira, São Paulo, Brasil. M. urundeuva é uma espécie arbórea nativa com grande potencial para uso comercial no Brasil. Para tanto, foi utilizada a modelagem de nicho ecológico, com camadas atuais de variáveis climáticas e camadas preparadas para cenários climáticos futuros, de acordo com o 4º Relatório do Painel Intergovernamental sobre Mudanças Climáticas (AR4/IPCC), utilizando dados do Worldclim no Brasil. Com os programas Open Modeller e ArcGIS, foram gerados mapas para prever sua ocorrência para o período atual e para cenários climáticos futuros, feitos de acordo com as projeções de mudanças climáticas globais. Com a projeção de aumentos de temperatura e precipitação na região onde ocorre a espécie, ela tende a migrar para áreas do Brasil onde o clima é atualmente mais ameno, nas regiões Sul e Sudeste. Devido às mudanças climáticas, a espécie tende a sofrer mudanças na distribuição e tamanho de área até 2080. Foi projetado para a Caatinga e Pantanal, nos dois períodos, um aumento de área, enquanto para o Cerrado, no primeiro período, a área aumentou e para o segundo, diminuiu. Portanto, de acordo com os resultados dos mapas de projeções futuras para as próximas décadas, conclui-se que haverá mudanças na distribuição de M. urundeuva, com redução significativa da área potencial de ocorrência na região.

ABSTRACT In this work, the prediction of the distribution of M. urundeuva Fr. All. was performed based on the region of natural occurrence of the species. Its geographic coordinates were obtained from online databases CRIA and SpecialLinks, from scientific articles and fieldwork carried out by Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in Ilha Solteira, São Paulo, Brazil. M. urundeuva is a native tree species with great potential for commercial use in Brazil. For this purpose, ecological niche modeling was used, with current layers of climate variables and layers prepared for future climate scenarios, according to the 4th Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (AR4/IPCC), using Worldclim data on Brazil. With the Open Modeller and ArcGIS programs, maps were generated to predict its occurrence for the current period and future climate scenarios, made according to the projections of global climate changes. With the projection of increases in temperature and precipitation in the area where the species occurs, it tends to migrate to areas of Brazil where the climate is currently milder, in the south and southeast regions. Due to climatic changes, the species tends to undergo changes in distribution and area size until 2080. It was projected for Caatinga and Pantanal, in both periods, an increase in area, while for the Cerrado, in the first period, the area increased, and, for the second, it decreased. Therefore, according to the results of the maps of future projections for the next decades, it is concluded that there will be changes in the distribution of M. urundeuva, with a significant reduction of the potential area of occurrence in the region.

RESUMO Stryphnodendron pulcherrimum é uma espécie medicinal usada entre as comunidades tradicionais da Amazônia devido à sua atividade bactericida e propriedades anti-infamatórias. Apesar de estar adaptada a ambientes rústicos, não há informações de como as mudanças climáticas poderão afetar a ocorrência da espécie. Objetivou-se avaliar a distribuição natural de S. pulcherrimum no período atual e como sua distribuição geográfica potencial poderá ser afetada diante de cenários de mudanças climáticas futuras nos domínios ftogeográficos brasileiros. Foram utilizadas 19 variáveis bioclimáticas a partir da base de dados do WorldClim. Quatro modelos de algoritmo (Climate Space Model, Envelope Score, Niche Mosaic e Enviromental Distance - presente) e um software (Open Modeller - futuro) foram utilizados para verificar a ocorrência potencial de S. pulcherrimum em cinco domínios (Amazônia, Cerrado, Caatinga, Mata Atlântica e Pantanal) e três períodos (2009-2019 - presente; 2020-2050 e 2051-2070 - futuro). Houve perdas de áreas favoráveis à ocorrência de S. pulcherrimum na Amazônia, Cerrado e Pantanal, e as mudanças climáticas globais poderão afetar sua distribuição natural especialmente na Mata Atlântica e Amazônia, sendo que, na Amazônia, a espécie pode estar totalmente extinta, no cenário mais pessimista, até 2070.

ABSTRACT Stryphnodendron pulcherrimum is a species used medicinally among traditional Amazonian communities for its bactericidal activity and anti-inflammatory properties. Despite being adapted to rustic environments, there is no information regarding how climate change might affect the species occurrence. The present study aimed to evaluate the natural distribution of S. pulcherrimum in the current period and how its potential geographic distribution may be affected in response to future climate change scenarios in Brazilian phytogeographic domains. A total of 19 bioclimatic variables were used from the WorldClim database. Four algorithm models (Climate Space Model, Envelope Score, Niche Mosaic and Environmental Distance - present) and one software (Open Modeller - future) were used to verify the potential occurrence of S. pulcherrimum in five Brazilian domains (Amazon, Cerrado, Caatinga, Atlantic Forest and Pantanal) and three intervals (2009-2019 - present; 2020-2050 and 2051-2070 - future). There were losses of areas favorable to the occurrence of S. pulcherrimum in the Amazon, Cerrado and Pantanal, and global climate change may affect its natural distribution especially in the Atlantic Forest and Amazon. In the Amazon, the species may be totally extinct, in the worst scenario, by 2070.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a variabilidade genética de Araucaria cunninghamii, em teste de procedência, e estimar ganhos genéticos para a produção de sua madeira, com base em diferentes intensidades de seleção. O experimento foi estabelecido em Luís Antônio, no estado de São Paulo, Brasil, com sementes de polinização aberta coletadas em Queensland, Austrália. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com seis repetições e quatro plantas por parcela. O diâmetro à altura do peito (DBH), a forma do fuste e a sobrevivência foram medidos 29 anos após o plantio. Diferenças significativas foram detectadas entre as procedências. O coeficiente de variação genotípica foi alto (60%) para DBH. Os valores médios de DBH e forma do fuste foram de 23,21 cm e 4,50, respectivamente. As procedências Langkelly Creek, Brooweena L.A., Yarraman e St. Agnes apresentaram melhor desempenho em DBH, e Imbil Seed Orchard, Brooweena L.A., St. Agnes, St. John e Yarraman, em forma do fuste. Os ganhos estimados com a seleção variaram de 0,5 a 24,8%, para DBH, e de 0,9 a 3,5%, para forma do fuste.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to assess the genetic variability of Araucaria cunninghamii in a provenance test and to estimate the genetic gains in its wood production, based on different selection intensities. The trial was established in Luís Antônio, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, using open-pollinated seed from Queensland, Australia. The experimental design used was a randomized complete block with six replicates, and four plants per plot. Diameter at breast height (DBH), stem form, and survival were measured at 29 years after planting. Significant differences were detected among provenances. The coefficient of genotypic variation between provenances was high (60%) for DBH and stem form. The mean values for DBH and stem form were 23.21 cm and 4.50, respectively. The provenances Langkelly Creek, Brooweena L.A., Yarraman, and St. Agnes showed the best performance for DBH, and Imbil Seed Orchard, Brooweena L.A, St. Agnes, St. John, and Yarraman, for stem form. Genetic gains ranged from 0.5 to 24.8% for DBH, and from 0.9 to 3.5% for stem form.

Abstract Cordia trichotoma is a Brazilian species that has been studied for different forest systems. However, genetic breeding programs could highly improve species use. To obtain a better yield, it is essential to identify the species genotypes with superior performance. Thus, the work objective of this work was to estimate genetic divergence in two C. trichotoma progenies tests based on phenotypic traits. The experimental design adopted was the randomized blocks, one plant per plot, using 40 (area one) and 34 (area two) repetitions, using 3.0 m × 3.0 m spacing. The evaluated traits were diameter at 1.30 m above the soil (DBH-cm), total height (HT-m), collar diameter at 30 cm above the ground (DC-cm), and height of the first whorl (HFW-cm). The estimate of genetic divergence and the Tocher clustering method was performed using the REML / BLUP method. The genetic distances between the progenies in area 1 were 2.13 and 47.74 (17 and 15). In area two the genetic distances between the progenies were 3.64 (9 and 15) and 48.28 (12 and 7). The progenies formed 10 and 4 distinct groups, respectively, in area 1 and area 2). The traits that most contributed to genetic divergence were DBH-2016 (14.65%) in area one, and HT-2014 (14.32%) in area two. In sumary, the C. trichotoma progenies show high genetic divergence. Regarding breeding programs, it is recommended to cross progenies from the most divergent groups to heighten the genetic gain through the selection of more productive genotypes.

Resumen Cordia trichotoma es una especie nativa que está siendo evaluada para diferentes sistemas forestales. El hecho de que los individuos empleados en las plantaciones posean algún grado de mejoramiento genético tiene muchas ventajas; para lograr este mejoramiento es fundamental la obtención de genotipos superiores, a fin de obtener un mejor rendimiento del producto final. El objetivo del presente estudio fue estimar la divergencia genética de progenies de C. trichotoma en dos diferentes condiciones de textura de suelo, por medio de caracteres fenotípicos. El diseño experimental fue bloques completos al azar, un árbol por parcela con 40 (área 1) y 34 (área 2) repeticiones, con espaciamiento de 3,0 m × 3,0 m. Los caracteres evaluados fueron: diámetro a altura del pecho, altura total de plantas, diámetro de cuello y altura del primer verticilo. Para estimar la divergencia genética y el agrupamiento de Tocher fue utilizado el método REML/BLUP. Las distancias entre las progenies en el área 1 fueron de 2,13 y 47,74 (17 y 15), en el área 2 las distancias entre las progenies fueron de 3,64 (9 y 15) y 48,28 (12 y 7). Las progenies formaron diez y cuatro grupos distintos (área 1 y área 2). Los caracteres que más contribuyeron para divergencia genética fueron diámetro a la altura del pecho-2016 (14,65%) área 1, y altura total de plantas-2014 (14,32%) área 2. Las progenies de C. trichotoma presentaron alta divergencia genética. En programas de mejoramiento, se recomienda el cruzamiento entre progenies de los grupos más divergentes para priorizar la ganancia con selección de los genotipos más productivos.

O objetivo do trabalho foi relacionar a diversidade genética medida a partir de três diferentes marcadores moleculares, com a variação genética quantitativa de caracteres poligênicos, estimada em ensaio de progênies, sob condições controladas. As progênies, oriundas de dez subpopulações naturais de cagaiteira do sudeste de Goiás, foram avaliadas em experimento em blocos completos casualizados, com quatro repetições e uma planta por parcela. Foram estimadas a herdabilidade ao nível de média de progênies (h mi ²) e o coeficiente de variação genética (CVgi) de cada subpopulação para a altura da planta e o diâmetro do fuste, por quatro anos, bem como para as respectivas taxas de crescimento. Estimativas da diversidade gênica (Hei) e do índice de fixação (f i) foram obtidas com dados de marcadores codominantes e dominantes. Correlação linear e regressão múltipla foram usadas para inferir sobre a associação entre a divergência quantitativa e molecular nos níveis intra e interpopulacional, A fraca correlação entre as medidas de divergência obtidas com marcadores moleculares dominantes e codominantes reduziu a expectativa de correlação positiva entre essas medidas e a diversidade quantitativa. Em geral, não foi confirmada a possibilidade de usar com segurança medidas de divergência molecular intrapopulacional para inferir a variação genética de caracteres quantitativos no nível de precisão que prevaleceu. Com o marcador baseado em maior número de locos (RAPD), verificou-se a possibilidade de uma inferência desse tipo. Em nível interpopulacional, encontrou-se associação mais pronunciada entre a divergência molecular e a quantitativa.

This research aimed to measure the association between molecular diversity and the genetic variation of quantitative traits, estimated from a progeny trial, under controlled conditions. Ten natural subpopulations of cagaita tree from the southeast of Goiás State, Brazil, were investigated. The maternal families were evaluated in a trail using the randomized complete block design with four replications and a single tree per plot. Quantitative data were analyzed estimating the coefficient of heritability (h mi² ), on a progeny mean basis and the genetic coefficient of variation (CVgi) for each subpopulation. The traits considered were: plant height and the respective diameter and the corresponding annual rates of increment. Estimates of gene diversity (Hei) and fixation index (f i), available for the same subpopulations, based on isozymes, SSR and RAPD markers, were taken for comparison. Simple linear correlation and multiple regression analysis were used for measuring the association between those estimates on intra and interpopulation level. The weak correlation between gene diversity estimated with codominant and dominant markers reduced the expectation of a good correlation between those statistics and the genetic variation of the quantitative traits. In general, the possibility to infer the magnitude of quantitative variation within subpopulations, based on molecular gene diversity, was not confirmed. RAPD results were more promising, indicating the importance to have an adequate genomic coverage in this kind of research. On the other hand, the interpopulation level, a much better association was detected for all markers. The possibility of predicting quantitative variation based on molecular information was, therefore, not excluded.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi estimar parâmetros genéticos de caracteres quantitativos da coleção de germoplasma in vivo de Eugenia dysenterica. O material de estudo foi composto por 110 progênies de dez subpopulações naturais de cagaiteira amostradas na Região Sudeste do Estado de Goiás. O delineamento experimental adotado foi de blocos completos casualizados, com 110 tratamentos, quatro repetições e uma árvore por parcela. As variáveis avaliadas foram altura total, diâmetro do fuste e respectivas taxas de crescimento. Após a análise de variância foram estimados parâmetros genéticos populacionais. As subpopulações naturais de cagaiteira tiveram altos níveis de variação genética e a maior proporção foi verificada dentro de subpopulações. Os maiores coeficientes de herdabilidade e de variação genética ocorreram nas subpopulações dos municípios de Catalão, Três Ranchos, Cristalina e Senador Canedo. Considerando os bons progressos esperados para caracteres de crescimento, essa coleção pode ser convertida em um pomar de sementes por mudas, sem desbaste, visando à produção de sementes melhoradas.

The objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters of quantitative traits in a living germplasm collection of Eugenia dysenterica. The genetic material consisted of 110 progenies derived from 10 natural Eugenia dysenterica subpopulations sampled in the southeastern region of the state of Goiás. The experiment was established in a complete randomized block design, with 110 treatments, four replications and one tree per plot. The study variables were total height, stem diameter and respective growth rates. After the analysis of variance some genetic parameters were estimated. The levels of genetic variation in the collection were high and the highest proportion was found within subpopulations. Highest coefficients of heritability and genetic variation were observed in subpopulations from the counties Catalão, Três Ranchos, Cristalina and Senador Canedo. Considering the promising expected progress for growth traits, this collection can be converted into an unrogued seedling seed orchard, aiming the production of improved seed.
