RESUMO O artigo apresenta pesquisa sobre o conceito de criança anormal divulgado em um conjunto de artigos publicados na Revista do Ensino de Minas Gerais, na década de 1930. Foram levantados artigos que expressam como a criança anormal era compreendida pelos contemporâneos daquela época. Da análise dos textos, emergiram duas categorias: classificação das crianças anormais, suas características e explicações causais da anormalidade; o papel da escola na educação das crianças anormais. Utilizamos contribuições da história conceitual de Koselleck, segundo a qual conceitos expressam aspectos da experiência e da dimensão teórica de sujeitos em contextos e tempos históricos específicos. A pesquisa demonstrou que a articulação desse conceito incluía concepções fundamentadas nos debates sobre ambiente e hereditariedade, nos saberes elaborados pela psicologia e na discussão sobre o papel da escola e a educação das novas gerações.

ABSTRACT The present article displays a research on the concept of abnormal child disclosed in a set of articles published in Minas Gerais Revista do Ensino (Journal of Teaching), in the 1930s. Articles that express the way an abnormal child was understood by their contemporaries were outlined. From the analysis of the texts, two categories turned out: classification of abnormal children, their characteristics and causal explanations of the abnormality, and the role of the school in the education of abnormal children. We used contributions from Koselleck’s conceptual history, whose concepts express aspects of experience and the theoretical dimension of subjects in specific historical contexts and times. The research showed that the articulation of this assumption included concepts based on debates about environment and heredity, on the knowledge developed by psychology, and on the debate about the role of the school and the education of new generations.

RESUMEN El artículo presenta la investigación sobre el concepto de infante anormal divulgado en un conjunto de artículos publicados en la Revista do Ensino (Revista de la Enseñanza), de Minas Gerais, en la década de 1930. Han sido buscados artículos que expresan cómo el niño anormal era comprendido por los contemporáneos de aquella época. Del análisis de los textos, han emergido dos categorías: clasificación de los infantes anormales, sus características y explicaciones causales de la anormalidad, y el papel de la escuela en la educación de los infantes anormales. Utilizamos contribuciones de la historia conceptual de Koselleck, según las cuales los conceptos expresan aspectos de la experiencia y de la dimensión teórica de los sujetos en contextos y tiempos históricos específicos. La investigación ha demostrado que la articulación de ese concepto incluía concepciones fundamentadas en los debates acerca del ambiente y de la herencia, en los saberes elaborados por la psicología y en la discusión sobre el papel de la escuela y la educación de las nuevas generaciones.

RESUMO: a pesquisa apresentada investigou o método de Ortopedia Mental elaborado pela educadora Helena Antipoff, enfocando seus fundamentos teóricos. Utilizamos como fontes os textos da educadora escritos na década de 1930 e compilados em dois volumes da Coletânea das obras escritas de Helena Antipoff: Psicologia Experimental e Educação do excepcional. Helena Antipoff dirigiu o Laboratório de Psicologia da Escola de Aperfeiçoamento de Belo Horizonte, instituição de formação de professores e técnicos em Educação. Processos de homogeneização de classes faziam parte da reforma proposta a partir de 1927. Durante a implantação das classes homogêneas, entre 1930 e 1935, a psicóloga russa fez uma crítica à limitação dessa ação isolada e concluiu que apenas a homogeneização não traria resultados suficientes para a aprendizagem e o desenvolvimento dos alunos. Antipoff empenhou-se em propor programas que pudessem oferecer à criança um ensino que respeitasse suas particularidades, ao mesmo tempo que treinasse professores para sua execução. Um desses programas era a Ortopedia Mental, técnica utilizada por Binet, e para a qual a educadora adaptou princípios educacionais e procedimentos de vários autores. Na aplicação da Ortopedia Mental, Helena Antipoff valorizava o empenho, a criatividade e o envolvimento que o professor deveria ter com sua classe na elaboração de atividades capazes de despertar o interesse das crianças e desenvolver, ao mesmo tempo, suas faculdades mentais.

ABSTRACT: The present research investigated the Mental Orthopedics method developed by the educator Helena Antipoff, focusing on its theoretical foundations. As sources, we have used the educator's texts written in the 1930's and compiled into two volumes of The Collection of Helena Antipoff's writings: Experimental Psychology and Education of Exceptional Students. Helena Antipoff directed the Psychology Laboratory of Belo Horizonte Improvement School, an institution designed for training teachers and technicians in education. Class homogenization was part of the proposed reform from 1927 on. During the implementation of homogeneous classes, between 1930 and 1935, the Russian psychologist criticized the limitations of this isolated action and concluded that homogenization alone would not bring sufficient results to the students' learning and development. Antipoff endeavored to propose programs that could offer the child an education that respected the students' particularities and offered the teachers the required training to carry out the program. One of these programs was the Mental Orthopedics, a technique used by Binet, and to which the educator adapted educational principles and procedures from several authors. In the application of the Mental Orthopedics, Helena Antipoff valued the commitment, the creativity and the involvement the teacher should have before their students when developing activities that stimulated children's interest and, at the same time, developed their mental skills.

Este trabalho visa a apresentar uma prática formativa desenvolvida com alunos matriculados na disciplina Psicologia da Educação, oferecida para os cursos de Licenciatura ministrados na Faculdade de Educação da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (FaE-UFMG). O objetivo do trabalho foi o de favorecer aos alunos - futuros professores - o estabelecimento de relações entre os conteúdos teóricos desenvolvidos na disciplina e a realidade que se apresenta a partir do convívio com um adolescente. Foi empregada a técnica do estudo de caso instrumental, utilizando-se para isso de diversas fontes na coleta dos dados. A partir de dados recolhidos em discussões desenvolvidas em sala de aula e dos relatórios de avaliação final realizados pelos alunos, chegou-se à conclusão de que o trabalho contribuiu de forma significativa para o entendimento das teorias estudadas num contexto de integração e articulação com a vida cotidiana.

The present works aims at presenting a teaching practice developed with students enrolled in the discipline Educational Psychology, presented in the teaching courses at the Faculdade de Educação of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (FaE/UFMG). The objective of the work was to allow those students - future teachers - establishing relationships between the theoretical content developed during the discipline and the reality emerges from the familiarity with a teenager. For such, we have applied the instrumental case study technique, making use of several resources for that purpose. From the data gathered in discussions carried in class and from the final evaluation's reports wrote by the students, we came to the conclusion that the work contributed in a significant way for the understanding of the theories studied in a context of integrating and articulation with daily life.

Este artigo traz parte dos resultados de uma pesquisa de mestrado que tratou da relação entre infância e desenvolvimento a partir da análise das representações sociais da infância na revista Pais & Filhos. A revista é pensada como um meio de tornar acessíveis às famílias os conhecimentos advindos de ciências que têm como objeto de estudo a criança, haja vista que apresenta discursos de diversos especialistas, principalmente os vinculados à medicina e à psicologia. O trabalho objetiva analisar as representações sobre desenvolvimento infantil presentes na revista e a sua legitimação por meio do discurso dos especialistas. Considera a presença e a legitimidade dos diferentes discursos nessa publicação: dos especialistas, dos pais e das crianças e trata do tema do desenvolvimento, um dos pilares das representações da infância na Pais & Filhos. Por fim, discute os resultados, enfocando o tema da infância como objeto de especialistas, a partir de uma racionalidade moderna.

This paper presents part of the results from a master's degree research addressing the relationship between childhood and development, based on the analysis of social representations of childhood in the 'Pais & Filhos' magazine. The magazine is conceived as a means of making accessible to families the scientific knowledge that has the study of children as its object, given that features speeches from many experts, especially those related to medicine and psychology. This study aims to analyze the representations of child development present in the magazine and its legitimation through the discourse of experts. It considers the presence and legitimacy of different discourses in this publication: by experts, parents and children, and addresses the issue of development, one of the pillars of childhood representation in the 'Pais & Filhos' magazine. Finally, it discusses the results, focusing on the theme of childhood as the target of experts, as from a modern rationality.

Este trabalho tem o objetivo de analisar a educação dos corpos infantis na revista Pais & Filhos, buscando compreender que ideal de infância é legitimado pela mesma. Investiga as representações sociais dos corpos infantis no período de 1968 a 1977, quando a publicação se considerava "a revista mensal da família moderna", utilizando a teoria das representações sociais como principal referencial. Os resultados apontam para representações dos corpos infantis objetivadas pela imagem da fábrica moderna, marcados por um ideal de beleza, e classificados através da oposição entre saúde e doença e entre normalidade e anormalidade.

This paper aims to analyze the education of children's bodies in Pais & Filhos magazine, trying to understand what ideal of childhood is legitimized by it. The study investigates the social representations of children's bodies in the period from 1968 to 1977 when the publication was considered "the monthly magazine of the modern family", using the theory of social representations as the main reference. The results indicate representations of children's bodies objectified by the image of the modern factory, marked by an ideal of beauty, and classified by the opposition between health and disease and between normality and abnormality.

Esto trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar la educación de los cuerpos infantiles en la revista Pais & Filhos (Padres y Hijos), tratando de entender lo ideal de la infancia que se legitima por la misma. Investigar las representaciones sociales de los cuerpos infantiles en el periodo de 1968 a 1977, cuando la publicación se podría considerar "la revista mensual de la família moderna", utilizando la teoría de las representaciones sociales como la principal referencia. Los resultados apuntan a las representaciones de los cuerpos infantiles, objetivadas por la imagen de la fábrica moderna, marcado por la oposición entre salud y enfermidad, y entre normalidad y la anormalidad.

Este artigo descreve resultados de uma pesquisa que buscou investigar como o tema das faculdades da alma e de suas implicações no desenvolvimento humano e na educação da pessoa foi divulgado, ao final do século XIX, pela imprensa periódica. Esperando contribuir para a história da psicologia e da educação, o artigo apresenta a análise de escritos sobre educação moral e educação estética de uma Secção Scientífica ou Pedagógica assinada por José Miguel de Siqueira e publicada no jornal O Baependyano (1877-1889). Inicialmente, são feitas breves descrições do periódico e de sua posição na conjuntura da época, bem como do lugar em que foi publicado. Em seguida, tratamos da definição de pedagogia apresentada pelo jornal, levando em consideração as apropriações de autores estrangeiros comumente presentes no campo da educação. A pedagogia considerada moderna é definida em tais escritos como a expansão e o desenvolvimento das forças animais, racionais e morais do ser humano; sua finalidade seria a formação do homem social pronto para o trabalho e para o serviço da sociedade e do Estado. Partindo dessa discussão, abordamos as concepções de educação espontânea, educação regular e instrução contidas no periódico. A educação é entendida como a unidade entre cultura e instrução, sendo a cultura a principal responsável pelo direcionamento das faculdades da alma e pela formação moral; a instrução, por sua vez, é tomada como aquisição de conhecimentos, mas também desempenha um papel importante na formação de hábitos e costumes.

The article describes the results of a research that investigated how the theme of the faculties of the soul and of their implications for human development and for the education of a person was made available in the late 19th century by the circulating press. In an attempt to contribute to the history of psychology and education, the article presents the analysis of writings on moral education and aesthetic education that appeared on a scientific or pedagogical section signed by José Miguel de Siqueira and published in the O Baependyano (1877-1889) periodical. Initially, brief descriptions of the periodical and of its position within the context of the time are made, as well as of the place at which it was published. Next, we deal with the definition of pedagogy presented by the periodical, taking into account the appropriations of foreign authors commonly present in the field of education. Pedagogy, regarded as modern, is defined in those writings as the expansion and development of the animal, rational and moral strengths of the human being; its purpose would be the formation of the social man ready for work and for the service of society and of the State. Based on this discussion, we investigate the conceptions of spontaneous education, regular education, and instruction contained in the periodical. Education is understood as the unity of culture and instruction, with the former being the chief responsible for directing the faculties of the soul and for moral formation; instruction, by its turn, is seen as the acquisition of knowledge, but also plays an important role in the formation of habits and customs.

Situado no campo da História dos saberes psicológicos no Brasil, o presente artigo apresenta dois compêndios produzidos em Minas Gerais nos anos de 1847 e 1849, cujo tema é a descrição da estrutura e do funcionamento das faculdades da alma humana e da origem das idéias. As obras trazem uma sistematização sobre os conceitos de alma, inteligência, consciência, sensibilidade e vontade. A partir da descrição de tais conceitos é possível evidenciar a filiação destas obras às matrizes teóricas, principalmente francesas, tais como a ideologia e o espiritualismo eclético. Ao final comenta-se a relação entre autores, e o modo de apropriação de conhecimento textual, como evidenciado na escrita dos autores mineiros pela forma de se referenciar aos originais europeus.

Set in the field of the history of psychological knowledge, the present article presents two publications issued in the state of Minas Gerais in 1847 and 1849, approaching the description of the structure and performance of the faculties of the human soul and the genesis of the ideas. The works unveiled systematization over the concepts of the soul, intelligence, consciousness, sensibility and will. From the description of such concepts it is possible to bring into evidence the theoretical matrixes, mainly French ones, such as the ideology and the eclectic spiritualism. At the end, it is noted the relationship between the authors and the procedures to get property of the textual knowledge, as it is evidenced in the texts by the writers from Minas Gerais, based on the way Europeans original works are referred to.
