Abstract Eustachys presents lower diversity in the Old World than in the Neotropics and it occurs disjunctly between main tropical regions. This qualifies Eustachys as a good model to test whether lineages expand their niches during the process of range expansion. We performed ancestral range reconstruction, compared environmental spaces of the different geographic areas and assessed bioclimatic trait evolution. Ancestral range reconstruction indicated that most speciation in Eustachys occurred in the South America. Ancestral climatic niches of the New World are different from those of African and Australasia lineages. Our results show that Eustachys experienced niche expansion when it reached the New World. Evolutionary history of Eustachys illustrates how the range expansion promoted climatic niche shifts, which could drive unbalanced species richness of the genus among different tropical regions. regions evolution America shifts

RESUMO Hibiscus sabdariffaé uma espécie pantropicalmente distribuída e cultivada devido à sua importância econômica. Possivelmente esta espécie é originária do Sudão, tendo sido, posteriormente, levada para o restante da África, sudeste da Ásia e América Central. Registros da naturalização de H. sabdariffa são conhecidos para a região neotropical, embora no Brasil, ela seja conhecida apenas como cultivada. Apresentamos aqui, casos de naturalização de H. sabdariffa para a flora brasileira baseados em registros prévios e novas coletas realizadas na região Amazônica. Incluem-se, ainda, uma descrição da espécie, chave de identificação para as espécies Amazônicas de Hibiscus, prancha fotográfica e a distribuição geográfica da espécie na região neotropical.

ABSTRACT Hibiscus sabdariffa is a pantropical species cultivated because of its economic importance. This species possibly originated in Sudan and was later taken to the rest of Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central America. Naturalization records of H. sabdariffa are known for the Neotropical region, although in Brazil it is only known as a cultivated species. We present here cases of naturalization of H. sabdariffa in the Brazilian flora, based on previous records and new collections made in the Amazon region. It is also included a description of the species, an identification key for the Hibiscus species from Amazon, a photographic plate and the geographic distribution of the species in the neotropics.

Resumo A ordem Ericales nos remanescentes de Floresta Atlântica da Usina São José foi previamente tratada com a monografia da família Sapotaceae. Dando continuidade aos estudos dessa flora, neste trabalho o tratamento da ordem Ericales é atualizado com a monografia das famílias Lecythidaceae, Marcgraviaceae e Primulaceae. Nestas três famílias foram registradas oito espécies classificadas em seis gêneros. Em Lecythidaceae foram identificados três gêneros e quatro espécies, em Marcgraviaceae dois gêneros e duas espécies e Primulaceae um gênero e duas espécies. Eschweilera e Myrsine foram registradas duas espécies cada, enquanto os demais gêneros foram representados por apenas uma espécie. Este trabalho é composto por uma chave de identificação e descrições morfológicas das espécies, além de comentários ecológicos e taxonômicos sobre os gêneros e espécies registrados.

Abstract The order Ericales in the Atlantic Forest remnants of Usina São José was partially published in the taxonomic treatment of Sapotaceae. Following the series of publications of Usina São José, in this paper the treatment of Ericales is updated with the families Lecythidaceae, Marcgraviaceae and Primulaceae. We recorded six genera and eight species for these families. Lecythidaceae is represented by three genera and four species, Marcgraviaceae by two genera and two species and Primulaceae by one genus and two species. For the genera Eschweilera and Myrsine we recorded two species each and for the other genera we recorded one species each. This paper has an identification key and descriptions for the species, ecological and taxonomic comments for genera and species.

Icacinaceae s.l. na circunscrição atual é reconhecida como quatro famílias distintas: Cardiopteridaceae, Icacinaceae s.s., Stemonuraceae e Pennantiaceae. Cardiopteridaceae, Icacinaceae s.s. e Stemonuraceae têm representantes nas florestas tropicais da América do Sul. Na parte nordeste do Domínio da Floresta Atlântica estas famílias são representadas pelas seguintes espécies: Citronella paniculata (Mart.) R.A. Roward, Dendrobangia boliviana Rusby, Discophora guianensis Miers, Emmotum affine Miers, Leretia cordata Vell. e Pleurisanthes simpliciflora Sleumer. Tais espécies apresentam distribuição disjunta entre as Florestas Atlântica e Amazônica, exceto por Emmotum affine que é endêmica da Floresta Atlântica. Chave de identificação, ilustrações, comentários sobre a distribuição geográfica, habitats e caracteres diagnósticos das espécies são apresentados.

Icacinaceae s.l. according to currently circumscription is treated as four distinct families: Cardiopteridaceae, Icacinaceae s.s., Stemonuraceae and Pennantiaceae. Cardiopteridaceae, Icacinaceae s.s. and Stemonuraceae are represented in tropical forests of South America. Along the northeastern part of the Atlantic Forest domain these families are represented by the following species: Citronella paniculata (Mart.) R.A. Roward, Dendrobangia boliviana Rusby, , Discophora guianensis Miers, Emmotum affine Miers, Leretia cordata Vell., and Pleurisanthes simpliciflora Sleumer. The species show a disjunct distribution between the Atlantic and Amazon Forests, except for Emmotum affine which is endemic to Atlantic Forest. Identification key, illustrations as well as commentaries about geographic distribution, habitats and diagnostic characteristics are presented.
