RESUMO: As neoplasias neuroepiteliais presentes no sistema ventricular originam-se das células que revestem o plexo coroide e podem ser benignas ou malignas, como é o caso do carcinoma de plexo coroide. Um equino, de quatro anos de idade, apresentando quadro neurológico com síndrome encefálica de quinze dias de evolução, foi encaminhado para atendimento veterinário. Ao exame apresentava apatia, ataxia severa, desvio lateral de cabeça, andar em círculos, pressão da cabeça contra obstáculos, diminuição do tônus da cauda, anosmia, ausência da resposta de ameaça visual, ausência de sensibilidade na face e hipotonia de língua. Líquido cefalorraquidiano apresentava pleocitose mista, aumento de proteína e diminuição de glicose. Após o óbito o animal foi diagnosticado com carcinoma de plexo coroide em terceiro ventrículo após exame histopatológico e imunohistoquímico. Conclui-se que equinos podem apresentar tumores em SNC, como o carcinoma de plexo coroide, com sintomatologia clínica inespecífica, tratamento clínico inefetivo e diagnóstico conclusivo realizado no exame post mortem. ABSTRACT: Neuroepithelial neoplasms present in the ventricular system originate from the cells lining the choroid plexus and can be benign or malignant, such as choroid plexus carcinoma. A four-year-old equine presenting with a fifteen-day history of neurological symptoms was sent for veterinary evaluation. Upon examination, the horse exhibited apathy, severe ataxia, head tilt, circling behavior, head pressing, decreased tail tone, anosmia, absence of menace response, lack of facial sensitivity, and lingual hypotonia. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis revealed mixed pleocytosis, increased protein, and decreased glucose. Following the animal’s death, histopathological and immunohistochemical examinations confirmed the diagnosis of choroid plexus carcinoma in the third ventricle. It is concluded that horses may develop central nervous system tumors, such as choroid plexus carcinoma, with nonspecific clinical symptoms, ineffective clinical treatment, and a conclusive diagnosis established postmortem. Abstract Periodontal diseases are closely related to non-communicable diseases, and their prevention depends on their link with healthy lifestyle programs. The purpose of this consensus was to summarize and propose preventive strategies at the community, individual, and research levels in Latin America and the Caribbean. A critical review and search strategy was carried out in Pubmed, LILACS, and SCIELO on three topics: a) Social determinants, risk factors, and behavioral changes related to PD throughout the lives of individuals; b) Impact of mechanical and chemical control of plaque for the prevention of gingivitis; c) Impact on prevention of systemic diseases. Relative to public health policies, no consensus was reported in the region. In some countries, periodontal educational strategies, mainly for pregnant women and for other chronic diseases have been implemented, but their impact on primary and secondary prevention has hardly been evaluated. In recent years, a positive aspect has been the implementation of some public policies, including clinical practice guidelines and care pathways. Based on the latest consensus, multicenter educational research and technological strategies were found in the region, but their effectiveness needs to be evaluated in clinical studies. A barrier to the implementation of preventive strategies has to do with the human factor. ABSTRACT. This review aimed to address all relevant parts of the digestive physiology of rabbits, before and after weaning, with a view to enabling greater understanding of these phases and reducing the mortality of kits. The biggest bottlenecks in Brazilian rabbit farming are linked to the period from birth to weaning, a time when the animals are more sensitive to environmental adverse events, requiring more rigid and efficient management due to their immune system being not fully developed. Throughout the period in which kits are with the females, many physiological changes occur, mainly in their gastrointestinal tract (GIT), which changes over time, depending on the type of food intake; in order to achieve its full capacity to utilize food, the intestine needs to undergo an adaptation from milk-based to solid diet. Nesse contexto, apresenta a importância de que as políticas públicas para esse assunto sejam baseadas em processos de planejamento implementação de formas intersetoriais e contínuas. ABSTRACT The present article analyses the challenges concerning public interventions in urban peripheries marked by multiple vulnerabilities conditions and proposes to approach the subject by the means of a complex problem, meaning it does not support a simple or linear solution to be overcome. In this context, it presents the importance for the public action to consider planning and implementation in terms of an intersectoral and continuous process. Recognizing the difficulty for the Brazilian public structure to act in an intersectoral way, the article takes some examples of initiatives held in São Miguel Paulista by Tide Setubal Foundation in order to propose that an intersectoral approach can be promoted by public regional budgeting, impact measurement and community protagonism. Resumo Contextualização: Durante 2019 houve 4 275 mortes devido a EAM, tendo diminuído 7,5% em relação a 2018 (INE, 2021). A angioplastia reduziu a morbilidade e mortalidade desta patologia; contudo não está isenta de riscos. Com esta revisão narrativa pretende-se identificar as intervenções de enfermagem nos doentes com EAM pós-angioplastia na UCI, concentrando-se na prevenção e tratamento de possíveis complicações, através do ensino ao doente para o autocuidado; Objetivo: Identificar intervenções de enfermagem para doentes com EAM após a angioplastia na UCI; Metodologia: Realizou-se a recolha de dados desta revisão narrativa da literatura através da CINAHL Complete e MEDLINE Complete. Estabeleceu-se o limite temporal entre 2016 e 2021, incluindo artigos escritos em português, inglês e espanhol. Abstract Contextualization: During 2019 there were 4 275 deaths due to AMI, having decreased by 7.5% compared to 2018 (INE, 2021). Angioplasty has reduced the morbidity and mortality of this pathology; however, it is not risks free. With this literature review, we intend to identify the nursing interventions for patients with postangioplasty AMI in the ICU, focusing on the prevention and treatment of possible complications, on training the patient for self-care; Goal: To identify nursing interventions for patients suffering from AMI after angioplasty in the ICU; Methodology: This narrative literature review was prepared; the survey took place through CINAHL Complete and MEDLINE Complete. The time limit concerns 2016 and 2021, including articles written in Portuguese, English and Spanish. We used gray literature to supplement information; Results: The research resulted in 16 articles, related to nursing interventions for patients suffering from AMI after angioplasty. These interventions include hemodynamic monitoring, prevention of complications, including hemorrhage, hematoma, pain control, anxiety management and teaching to increase health literacy; Final considerations: Through the critical analysis of the literature with clinical practice in the internship, it was possible to infer that the nurse is the intervener in a continuum of care, ranging from the reception, to the intra and post-procedure period, to the clarifications at discharge and the post-discharge follow-up. Abstract The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention propose the term long COVID or post-COVID conditions for symptoms that develop during or after COVID-19, continue for at least two months, and are not explained by an alternative diagnosis. In this cross-sectional study, we aimed at estimating the proportion of COVID-19 patients that presented post-COVID conditions, describing their baseline characteristics and main persisting symptoms. We included 497 adult patients who had recovered from mild to moderate COVID-19, using a structured questionnaire, 12 to 16 weeks after disease onset. The cumulative incidence for post-COVID conditions was 47.5% (n=236). The most frequent symptoms were fatigue (n=151, 30.4%) and dyspnea (n=131, 26.4%). After adjusting for covariables male gender was found to be associated with lower odds of post-COVID conditions (OR=0.36, p<0.001). Body Mass Index <20 (OR=0.28, p=0.014) and [30-35[ (OR=0.42, p=0.006) seemed to have less persistent symptoms when compared to [20-25[. No other baseline demographic or clinical features were found to be significantly associated with post-COVID conditions. Our study suggests that post-COVID conditions persist in a large subset of non-severe diseases. Physicians should continue to monitor these patients to identify and treat post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in what concerns primary care.

Resumo O Centro para Controlo e Prevenção de Doenças propõe o termo COVID longo ou condições pós-COVID para sintomas desenvolvidos durante ou após a COVID-19 e que persistem pelo menos dois meses, não sendo explicados por outros diagnósticos. Este estudo transversal tem como objetivo determinar a proporção de doentes com condições pós-COVID, descrevendo as suas características demográficas e clínicas e sintomas persistentes mais comuns. Foram incluídos 497 adultos com doença ligeira a moderada por COVID-19, avaliados por questionário estruturado após 12 a 16 semanas da infeção por SARS-CoV-2. A incidência cumulativa de condições pós-COVID foi de 47,5% (n=236). Os sintomas persistentes mais frequentes foram a astenia (n=151, 30,4%) e a dispneia (n=131, 26,4%). Após análise multivariada verificou-se que o sexo masculino está associado a menor incidência de condições pós-COVID (OR=0,36, p<0,001). Constatou-se ainda que índices de massa corporal <20 (OR=0,28, p=0,014) e [30-35[ (OR=0,42, p=0,006) apresentaram menor persistência de sintomas quando comparados com [20-25[. Nenhuma outra característica demográfica ou clínica apresentou associação estatisticamente significativa para condições pós-COVID. O estudo sugere que as condições pós-COVID são frequentes na doença não-severa. O acompanhamento destes doentes deverá manter-se com o intuito de identificar e tratar sequelas pós-infeção aguda por SARS-CoV-2, particularmente no que respeita aos cuidados de saúde primários.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Identificar la prevalencia y los factores asociados a la manifestación de trastornos psiquiátricos menores en estudiantes universitarios del sur de Brasil durante la pandemia del COVID-19. Método: Estudio realizado en 2020, con 464 alumnos vinculados a una disciplina optativa de Salud Mental. Para el resultado se utilizó el Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20), con el punto de corte ≥ 7. La identificación de los factores asociados se realizó mediante regresión logística, precedida de selección de factores de confusión. Resultados: Prevalencia de trastornos psiquiátricos menores correspondiente al 76,5% entre los participantes. Factores asociados positivamente con este resultado: sexo femenino, la pérdida de empleo durante la pandemia, el consumo de sustancias psicoactivas y las dificultades para seguir las clases en línea. Estar socialmente distante durante siete meses o más se asoció negativamente con el resultado. ABSTRACT Objective: To identify the prevalence and factors associated with the manifestation of Minor Psychiatric Disorders (MPD) among university students in southern Brazil during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Cross-sectional study, conducted in August and September 2020, with 464 university students. RESUMO Objetivo: Identificar a prevalência e os fatores associados à manifestação de Transtornos Psiquiátricos Menores (TPM) em estudantes universitários do Sul do Brasil durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Método: Estudo transversal, realizado nos meses de agosto e setembro de 2020, com 464 estudantes universitários. Foi utilizado o Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20) com o ponto de corte ≥ 7, e identificados os fatores associados por meio de análises brutas e ajustadas com emprego de regressão logística. Resultados: A prevalência de TPM foi de 76,5%. Although analytical techniques to assess the degradation of transformer insulation systems are well established, it is essential to develop fast and effective methodologies for monitoring the quality of power transformer insulating fluid. The objective of this work was to develop a fast, simple, and environmentally friendly method to evaluate and monitor the quality of insulating vegetable oil (IVO) from transformers, using multivariate control chart and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). For the development of the method, IVO samples were subjected to electrical and thermal stress, as well as to contact with insulating paper and copper, to simulate the internal environment of a transformer before and after energizing. Control chart based on principal component analysis was developed to monitor insulating vegetable oil quality. It was possible to identify oil samples with oxidation levels that were outside the acceptable quality standards for insulating fluid in transformers. The results demonstrated the potential of FTIR spectroscopy and control charts as fast and simple tools for monitoring the quality of insulating fluids, enabling the identification of oil samples that fail to comply with regulation standards for insulating fluids, assisting in the implementation of maintenance programs for power transformers.

Abstract Bullous melanoma represents a rare variant of melanoma, especially in patients without underlying bullous cutaneous disease. Few cases have been described in the literature, including cases of melanoma in patients with bullous epidermolysis or Hailey-Hailey disease. The histopathological diagnosis of bullous melanoma does not show any difficulties, except for the measurement of the Breslow index. The rarity of this case, the dilemma of how to measure the Breslow index and the importance of an early diagnosis motivated this report.

Abstract The aim of this study was to analyze the association between ACE (DD + ID versus II) and ACTN3 (TT + TC versus CC) polymorphisms in the response of multicomponent physical training programs and combined in the health parameters of physically active women aged 50 to 75 years. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: multi-component training and combined training. Intervention lasted 14 weeks, 180 minutes a week. Genomic DNA was extracted from blood samples and genotyping analyzes were performed by conventional and real-time PCR. Associations were observed between polymorphisms in anthropometric measurements, blood pressure, physical capacity and quality of life in both models physical training, with improvement in group II - (ACE- multicomponent training in terms of abdominal circumference and sit-to - Combined training in terms of waist circumference) and TT + TC group (ACTN3 - multicomponent training in tests of muscle strength and mental quality of life domain, and combined training in body mass index, waist circumference, diastolic blood pressure, upper limb strength and cardiorespiratory capacity). Fourteen weeks of multicomponent and combined physical training in physically active women aged 50 to 75 years resulted in greater health benefits for genotypes II (ACE) and TT + TC (ACTN3).

RESUMO Objetivos: identificar a prevalência do uso de psicotrópicos conforme sua classificação Anatômico Terapêutico Químico entre usuários de um Centro de Atenção Psicossocial e avaliar a conformidade da prescrição dos mesmos com base na dose terapêutica recomendada. Métodos: estudo analítico, de base documental, a partir do estudo de 389 prontuários entre setembro de 2017 e maio de 2018. Associações entre a presença de subdose ou sobredose e as características dos participantes foram avaliadas por meio do teste qui-quadrado, adotando como valor significativo p <0.05. Resultados: os medicamentos mais utilizados foram os antipsicóticos (74,7%), 16,0% de usuários com pelo menos uma medicação com dose abaixo da terapêutica e outros 3,6% acima da dose terapêutica recomendada. Conclusões: maiores inconformidades na dose prescrita se relacionaram aos anti-histamínicos, os antipsicóticos e antidepressivos, com subdosagem associada ao sexo feminino e sobredose com o relato de audição de vozes.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to identify the prevalence of psychotropic drug use according to their Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical classification among Psychosocial Care Center users and assess their prescription compliance based on the recommended therapeutic dose. Methods: this is an analytical study, based on documents, from the study of 389 records between September 2017 and May 2018. Associations between the presence of underdose or overdose and participants’ characteristics were assessed using the chi-square test, adopting a significant value of p <0.05. Results: the most used drugs were antipsychotics (74.7%), 16.0% of users with at least one medication with a dose below the therapeutic level and another 3.6% above the recommended therapeutic dose. Conclusions: greater nonconformities in the prescribed dose were related to antihistamines, antipsychotics and antidepressants, with underdosage associated with females and overdose with the report of hearing voices.

Analytical Chemistry disciplines are present in the curriculum of several undergraduate courses. However, based on our experience, students not always are able to realize the association of the scientific concepts included in these disciplines with the social context and, specially, with their future field of work. In the present report, we used a case study about calcium supplementation by calcium carbonate and calcium chelate that included a science outreach activity, which was applied to students enrolled in three undergraduate courses: Pharmacy, Biomedicine, and Chemistry. We noticed that students not only got actively involved with the case, but also highlighted the importance of this activity, took the case beyond the classroom, and requested the inclusion of other similar activities in the discipline. Although different answers were presented for the case, the results obtained bring a positive impact on the instructors’ teaching practice and on the courses as a whole.

Con el objetivo de reaccionar a la actual crisis de acceso a la vivienda en Portugal, el gobierno lanzó el “Programa de Arrendamiento Asequible” (PAA), que busca dar respuesta a la población con ingresos intermedios en dificultad para acceder a vivienda en condiciones de mercado. El programa viene acompañado de un conjunto de datos estadísticos y criterios que permiten monitorizar el mercado de alquiler y calcular tasas de esfuerzo máximas. El presente artículo parte de esos datos y criterios para 1) cuantificar y territorializar el desfasamiento entre el mercado de alquiler y los ingresos de las familias; y, 2) evaluar el impacto que una adopción generalizada del PAA tendría en la mitigación de este desfasamiento. Además de apuntar las limitaciones en la adecuación del programa considerando la heterogeneidad de los territorios, los análisis permiten evidenciar que, en gran parte del territorio, el PAA podrá dar respuesta a un segmento relativamente limitado, pero significativo de la población (cerca de 10%) con ingresos medios. Sin embargo, en las áreas bajo mayor presión urbanística, este segmento se reduce a la mitad, pasando a corresponder a los estratos con ingresos más elevados. De manera general, se identifica que un segmento amplio de la población permanece sin respuesta. Se concluye que el PAA puede ser un instrumento útil, pero que por sí solo no permite dar respuesta al segmento de la población a la que se destina. El articulo termina con una reflexión sobre la necesidad y caminos posibles de una política de vivienda más amplia y capaz de responder a los actuales desafíos.

Com o objectivo de reagir à actual crise no acesso à habitação em Portugal, o governo lançou o Programa de Arrendamento Acessível (PAA), que visa dar resposta às populações de rendimentos intermédios com dificuldades para aceder a habitação em condições de mercado. O programa é acompanhado por um conjunto de dados estatísticos e critérios que permitem monitorizar o mercado de arrendamento e calcular taxas de esforço máximas. O presente artigo parte desses dados e critérios para: 1) quantificar e territorializar o desfasamento entre mercado de arrendamento e rendimento das famílias; e 2) avaliar o impacto que uma adopção generalizada do PAA teria na mitigação desse desfasamento. Para além de apontar limitações na adequação do programa à heterogeneidade dos territórios, as análises permitem perceber que, em grande parte do território, o PAA poderá dar resposta a uma camada relativamente delimitada, mas significativa, da população (cerca de 10%) com rendimentos medianos. Contudo, nas áreas sob maior pressão urbanística, esta camada reduz-se para metade, passando a corresponder às camadas de rendimentos mais elevados. De um modo geral, identifica-se um largo segmento da população que permanece sem resposta. Conclui-se que o PAA pode ser um instrumento útil, mas por si só não permite dar resposta a todo o segmento da população ao qual se destina. O artigo termina com uma reflexão sobre a necessidade e caminhos possíveis para uma política de habitação mais abrangente e capaz de responder aos actuais desafios.

Afin de réagir à la crise actuelle d’accès au logement, le gouvernement a lancé le Programme de Location Abordable (PLA), que vise à répondre aux besoins des populations à revenu moyen et qui ont du mal à accéder au logement dans des conditions du marché. Le programme est accompagné d’un ensemble de données statistiques et de critères permettant de suivre le marché locatif et de calculer des taux d’effort maximum. Cet article utilise ces données et critères pour : 1) quantifier et territorialiser l’écart entre le marché locatif et les revenus des ménages; et 2) évaluer l’impact d’une adoption généralisée du PLA sur l’atténuation de cet écart. Les analyses mettent en évidence, non seulement, les limites d’adéquation du programme face à l’hétérogénéité des territoires, comme elles montrent que, sur une grande partie du territoire, le PLA serait en mesure de répondre à une couche de la population à des revenus moyens, relativement délimitée mais importante (environ 10%) Dans les zones soumises à une plus grande pression urbaine, cette couche est réduite à moitié, passant à correspondre aux couches aux revenus les plus élevés. De façon générale, ces analyses prouvent qu’une grande partie de la population reste sans réponse. On conclue que le PLA peut être un outil utile, mais par lui-même, il ne permet pas de répondre à l’ensemble du segment de la population auquel il est destiné. L’article termine par une réflexion sur la nécessité et des pistes possibles pour une politique du logement plus globale et capable de répondre aux défis actuels.

In response to the current housing crisis, the Portuguese government launched the Affordable Rental Program (ARP), which aims to respond to middle-income populations struggling to access housing under market conditions. The program is accompanied by a set of statistical data and criteria that enables the monitoring of the rental market and the calculation of maximum effort rates. This article uses these data and criteria to 1) quantify and territorialize the gap between the rental market and household income; and 2) assess the impact that a widespread adoption of the ARP would have in mitigating this gap. In addition to pointing out limitations of the adequacy of the program to the heterogeneity of the territories, the analysis shows that, in a large part of the territory, the ARP will be able to respond to a relatively delimited but significant section of the population (about 10%) with average incomes. In areas under greater urban pressure, this number is reduced by half, which corresponds to the percentage of higher income households. In general, a large portion of the population is identified which remains unanswered. It is concluded that the ARP can be a useful tool, but by itself it is not able to respond to the entire segment of the population for which it is intended. The article ends with a reflection on the need and possible paths for a more comprehensive housing policy capable of responding to current challenges.

Objective. To analyze the prevalence of overweight and obesity among community health workers in southern Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, according to sociodemographic, behavioral and health variables. Methods. Cross-sectional study. Data collection occurred in 21 municipalities, from March / 2016 to May / 2017, using an instrument with self-reported weight and height data. For statistical analysis, multinomial logistic regression was used. Results. Data from 564 community health agents were analyzed, 0.5% were classified as underweight, 29.8% as eutrophic, 39.2% were overweight and 30.5% were obese. They had a lower chance of obesity: those who worked in the rural health unit (OR=0.58 – 95%CI 0.34;0.98) and who performed physical activity (OR=0.57 – 95%CI 0.36;0.90). Higher chance of obesity: with anxiety (OR=1.97 – 95%CI 1.12;3.45), hypertension (OR=2.91 – 95%CI 1.63;5.18), and diabetes (OR=6.25 – 95%CI 2.15;18.21). Conclusion. High prevalence of overweight and obesity, need to improve the quality of life and health of workers.

Objetivo. Analisar prevalência de sobrepeso e obesidade em agentes comunitários de saúde (ACS) na região sul do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, de acordo com variáveis sociodemográficas, comportamentais e de saúde. Métodos. Foi realizado estudo transversal com dados coletados em 21 municípios, entre março de 2016 e maio de 2017. Dados de peso e altura foram autorreferidos pelos participantes. Empregou-se regressão logística multinomial. Resultados. Foram incluídos 564 ACS, dos quais 0,5% classificados como de baixo peso, 29,8% como eutróficos, 39,2% com sobrepeso e 30,5% com obesidade. A presença de obesidade foi negativamente associada a trabalho em unidade de saúde rural (OR=0,58 – IC95%0,34;0,98) e realização de atividade física (OR=0,57 – IC95%0,36;0,90); e positivamente associada a ansiedade (OR=1,97 – IC95%1,12;3,45), hipertensão arterial (OR=2,91 – IC95%1,63;5,18) e diabetes (OR=6,25 – IC95%2,15;18,21). Conclusão. A prevalência de sobrepeso e obesidade foi elevada, associada a doenças crônicas, ansiedade, inatividade física e trabalho em área urbana.
